The food and service were excellent for most of the night, and honestly, I would have given this place 5 stars. The food was amazing, and our waiter was great initially. Unfortunately, the experience took a disappointing turn toward the end of the evening. We were told we couldn't order another round of drinks because the bar was "too backed up." We waited THIRTY minutes, only to have the manager, whose name I unfortunately did not get (a Black woman wearing her hair in braids pulled back into a ponytail), come over and tell us that we could no longer be served because "someone" had complained that we were "too loud." Mind you, when I say we were "loud," I mean we were laughing and enjoying ourselves. We had each only been served two small cocktails, and we were absolutely not intoxicated, belligerent, or disruptive. We are all working professionals and know how to conduct ourselves. Even the busser was laughing and interacting with us. What I couldn't understand was why our behavior was suddenly an issue in a restaurant with a live DJ, loud music, and multiple tables of guests equally enjoying themselves and laughing. The explanation simply didn't make sense. What made the situation even more hurtful was realizing that we were the only Latina table there that night. Whether intentional or not, the way the situation was handled left us feeling singled out and unwelcome. The food was truly amazing, but the way we were treated at the end overshadowed the entire experience for me. This was my 40th birthday dinner with my girls, something I was genuinely looking forward to celebrating, and unfortunately, the experience left a really bad taste in my mouth. I have never experienced that level of exclusion at a restaurant before, and it was incredibly disappointing to have it happen on such a special night.

Haii Keii Houston Restaurant Week Review Houston Restaurant Week took us to Hai Keii! And let me just say... I was a little nervous because Japanese food isn't usually my first choice, but I had heard such great things that I had to give it a try! First things first -- parking: They offer valet parking, but there's also a garage if you prefer to self-park. The best part? Hai Keii validates your parking, so both options are a win! The VIBE: 10/10! The atmosphere is absolutely gorgeous. The lighting, aesthetics, decor, and that little light techno vibe happening in the background make this place feel like a whole experience. And the hostess? Probably one of the bubbliest and sweetest hostesses I've ever encountered! She greeted us with a smile and so much energy and got us seated right away. It was pretty busy when we arrived, which was expected with Houston Restaurant Week, so it took a little while for our waitress to get to us. Once she did, though, she took great care of us throughout the evening. NOW... LET'S TALK FOOD! First Course: Ribeye Tacos -- When these tiny tacos hit the table, you might think, "Umm... where's the rest?" But don't let the size fool you! They are packed with meat, juicy, flavorful, and really good. Pork Belly -- This came with what tasted like an apple glaze. It was good... just not OMG amazing. Definitely worth trying, though. We also ordered an additional bell pepper dish that was recommended to us. Unfortunately, we weren't fans. BUT here's where Hai Keii impressed us: they noticed we barely touched it and removed it from the bill without us even asking! That kind of customer service gets major points from me. Second Course: Sea Bass with Miso Sauce -- I think I officially learned that I'm just not a miso girl . The sea bass itself was good, but the miso sauce wasn't for me. He liked it, though! 7 oz Steak -- This was a $10 supplement during Houston Restaurant Week. On its own, we felt like the steak was lacking a little flavor, BUT once the sauce was added? Completely changed the game! The sauce apparently made it much better. WAGYU FRIED RICE -- THE STAR OF THE SHOW! Listen... 10/10. WOULD RECOMMEND. This was hands down my favorite thing we ordered. We were debating between the Wagyu fried rice and the lobster fried rice. The lobster was $33, so we went with the Wagyu at about $26, and I'm SO glad we did. That fried rice was GOOD good! Definitely something I would go back specifically for. Drinks: 8/10 No complaints! They were good and paired nicely with dinner. Dessert: We were STUFFED, so we took it home. We got cheesecake and some type of truffle dessert, so I can't give a fair review on those just yet. MY FINAL RATINGS: Atmosphere: 10/10 Food: 7-8/10 Drinks: 8/10 Parking: 10/10 Service: 10/10 Would I go back? Absolutely -- but I already know what I'm ordering! Give me the Wagyu fried rice + drinks, and I'm good! Overall, I think Hai Keii would make a really cute girls' night, date night, or dinner spot when you want good vibes and a beautiful atmosphere.

I have wanted to try this restaurant for over a year. My friend was planning a dinner, and we decided at the last minute to come here. When entering the restaurant, the entrance is set up nicely for pictures or taking videos. When I first arrived, I waited at the bar until our table was ready. I got the Lost Horizon cocktail, and it was so good. Our server was the best! She even got the chef to visit our table. This restaurant is the perfect place to celebrate any occasion. We all ordered from the Houston Restaurant Weeks menu. In addition, we ordered all of the sides to share. We were not disappointed with anything everything was amazing! I will definitely visit again very soon! This is a must-try restaurant and definitely a food experience you will never forget.

I honestly was very disappointed in my experience here. I was looking forward to trying it for the longest, and I was surprised for my birthday. First, nothing was acknowledged when it came to my birthday.. no dessert or banner either for the "celebration". Now onto the food... I decided to order off of the restaurant week menu since it included an appetizer, entree, and dessert. The portions are TINY for $55. I will say both things that I ordered were good, though. The crispy tuna rice was good, and had great flavor, but the rice was very chewy. The sushi roll had butter which was unique, and included king crab, and wagyu steak. It was very good, I wanted more! I wasn't the biggest fan of the ube cheesecake, but I did enjoy the flavor of the ube espresso martini. I loved the decor inside. It reminded me of how I feel like a restaurant in Japan would be. Our waiter could've also been more friendly.

I came here on a Saturday night for a girls' night with a friend, and we had a great experience. We made a reservation and were seated almost immediately in a booth, which was nice. The only confusing part of the night was the parking. We parked in the garage, and the host told us our parking would be validated for two hours. However, when we went to leave, the valet attendants told us validation only applied to self-parking. It wasn't a huge deal, but it would be nice if everyone was on the same page. The restaurant itself is absolutely stunning. The ambiance is beautiful, and our waiter was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We started with the Crispy Thai Chili, and it was delicious. It had the perfect crispy texture with a great balance of sweet and spicy flavors. For our entrée, we originally wanted the Peking duck, but unfortunately they were out. We ended up ordering the Chilean sea bass instead, and honestly, it did not disappoint. It was incredible. The glaze was packed with flavor, and the fish was so tender it practically melted in your mouth. For sides, we ordered the broccolini and the mac and cheese. The broccolini was surprisingly one of my favorite parts of the meal. The soy sauce and garlic flakes really elevated such a simple dish. The mac and cheese was good, but it wasn't anything particularly memorable. Overall, we had a great time. Between the beautiful atmosphere, excellent service, and that amazing sea bass, I would definitely come back. The sea bass alone is worth ordering again.

This is my new favorite happy hour spot. The food is too good!! The spicy edamame had a sweet & spicy taste, not like a traditional spicy edamame. I also ordered the Spicy salmon over crispy rice, Korean short rib tacos & nonalcoholic lychee champagne. I sat at the bar & the service was really good. Also the aesthetic inside is super cute!

    Marcia S.

As soon as you walk on it's give a vibe! The red tinted doors color low lighting. I just had to grab a picture when I walked in. It's a nice size not too small, I prefer sitting in the booth, nice romantic settings setting. I was there for my birthday, what I loved was the Happy Birthday and your name going across the restaurant banner. Now the fun part food. Presentation was definitely on point! - Crispy thai chile shrimp thai chile truffle sauce- nice little mouth pop shrimp was not spicy had a nice sweet and spice taste, this can be a shareable dish. -korean short rib taco- this was super good nicely seasoned, 2 bite size, no fat at all. (I forgot to take a pic) -royal tempura cream cheese, cucumber, topped w/ spicy crab, fried shrimp, caviar, gold leaf- this was so pretty to eat but all the flavors worked so well together. -thai gulf red snapper seared and served with a thai coconut beurre blanc- Chef kiss, the fish was nicely seasoned and sauce was not overpowering. -truffle fries white truffle, parmesan, freshly grated black truffle & side of truffle aioli - the give you a lot, truffle aioli was not my favorite. (I forgot that pic) -crab & garlic fried rice soft shell lump crab, garlic chile- soft shell crab was good was not an over tasting of garlic. Our server was wonderful. With my 1st time being there her recommendations were great. They do offer complimentary 2 self parking as well as offer valet parking .

    Truffle Hamachi

We dined during Houston Restaurant Weeks, so it's worth noting that our portions may have been smaller than the regular menu portions and were offered at a reduced price. Overall: A lovely dining experience with excellent service, a romantic ambiance, and a dessert worth saving room for. I'd definitely return to try more of the menu. Service: Our server was excellent--attentive, helpful, and personable. Unfortunately, we had an issue with parking validation. We weren't aware that validation had to be scanned upon entry, and when we asked the manager for assistance, the response was neither particularly helpful nor welcoming. Food: I started with the Truffle Hamachi, which was very fresh and paired nicely with the light sauce. The Hamachi Roll was even better--more substantial and full of flavor, and something I'd order again. For my entrée, I had the Gulf Red Snapper with Thai Coconut Beurre Blanc. The fish was prepared well, but the flavors were fairly subtle. The broccolini, however, was flavorful and complemented the snapper nicely. Dessert was the standout: the Twixx Bombe with Almond Toffee was absolutely delicious, with great texture and a creative take on a Twix candy. Ambiance: The restaurant has a romantic, intimate atmosphere with dim lighting that created a cozy feel without being uncomfortable.

Ooh baby no. I do not need to come back here. All aesthics super cute and cool looking restaurant. I liked my drink the ube espresso martini was pretty fire. I was here for an birthday celebration. I opted to order the 3 course meal for $65 which included an appetizer l, main course and dessert. I made the poor decision to order the sea bass and no. It was actually disgusting. It came covered in a miso sauce but it was not good. It tasted very fishy too. Now I had ordered the crispy thai shrimp as my appetizer those were good. For dessert I ordered the chocolate peanut butter something. I don't remember what it was called...first it was tiny, secondly it was tiny as hell and very mediocre. I didn't really feel like I got my money's worth. Also there is limited street parking and a garage and valet $10 for parking it in gen pop $20 to park it in the front.

In my 8 months of living in Texas, specifically Houston, this has become my favorite restaurant. From the decor to the food, drinks, and service, everything is on point. The only downside is that it is slightly overpriced if we compare portion size to price. When you go, GET THE SHRIMP! I can't wait to come back for happy hour. Just keep in mind there are only two bathroom stalls and automatic gratuity is included.

Celebrated my sister's birthday here! Such a nice restaurant for a special occasion ! Service was amazing. We were a party of 10 girls & our waitress took amazing care of us! Food- we all settled on the holiday pre-fixe menu & was able to try a bit of everything. I started off with the thai chile shrimp, had the seabass as my main (partnered with Mac & cheese), and ended with the ube cheesecake ! So delicious and no complaints! They went above & beyond to make my sister's birthday special by having it flash across their special screens - what a nice touch!

Love the ambiance in this place. The food was very good as well. I got the crispy Thai chili shrimp which was a good sized portion and my royal tempura bliss was tasty as well but you only get 5 pieces , you should get at least 6 I would think. Service is good here and waiters explained the menu well.
