Hudson smokehouse located in Downtown Bronx is a great place. This dimly lit Bbq joint is rustic with its picnic like benches & dark decor. Service is quick & the staff is relaxed, friendly & efficient. The food is delicious. Served on trays & brown paper, the ribs & brisket are mouthwatering. There's an assortment of sides like macaroni & cheese, greens, fries, baked beans, etc. So come on in, get your hands ready & chow down on some really good Bbq'd food.

While on business we eat out a lot!! This time for lunch was BBQ. NY isn't really known for BBQ. It was good enough. Not OMG, but decent. Service was great! Really like some of the sauces the had to offer also.

I was in the Bronx and wanted ribs so my friends and I ordered a full rack, some brisket, Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and wings. Service was friendly and personable. And our bbq cravings were not disappointed. The meat was moist, flavorful, and fell apart easily. This BBQ place satisfied every craving we had for bbq. We also ordered fried Oreos, banana pudding and fried twinkies. The fried twinkies took us by complete surprise -like a funnel-cake on crack... the meal and desserts were so comforting and indulgent on this cold winter's work day. The ambiance was casual as appropriate for this type of food with plenty of paper towels and wet wipes.

Everything was good except the Macaroni and cheese. It was horrible. Cornbread was off the chain. Good service. My companion didn't like the potato salad. Good place to watch the game.

Amazing buffalo wings & cornbread - now my fav of both in NYC

Wow - was on my way somewhere else for lunch & stumbled into their hickory smoke wafting down Bruckner Boulevard, & immediately changed my plans. DEF the right move ! They are now part of the pantheon of top Texas-style smoked BBQ places in NYC. The brisket was done perfectly, & was not too salty. The buffalo wings were also amazing - they get some smoke & some zesty spices before they get hit w/ the buffalo sauce - they are now prob tied for my fav buffalo wings in the city. They also have some crazy beer pouring contraption which guarantees perfect pours - I just wish they had a German pils. Very clean & nice inside, & very friendly staff. They are also next to an amazing bookstore - The Lit Bar - which also has a wine bar in the back (?!), & which is somehow the Bronx's only bookstore ?!? The cornbread here is also AWESOME don't sleep on it! Can't wait to come back again next time I'm in the area. Only compliant - this area has gotten very hot, & not easy to park around here.

We went to Hudson Smokehouse on Saturday. The food was good for the most part. Some of the ribblets were hard, the pastrami was so good, the cheddar sausage was good, The potato salad had to much mustard but was good. You had to go to the counter and order your food but they brought you your food and your drink. The ambiance was quiet and clean. The only thing I didn't like was the smoke smell left in my hair and clothes.

The hog - brisket, pulled pork and brussel sprouts with cornbread

I was craving some meat in Mott Haven and noticed this restaurant as we were walking. It had a decent rating and I haven't had American BBQ in a while. So, we walked in with expectations low. Food: 3.5/5 I ordered the hog combo (2 meats + 1 side) for $26 (after tip and card fee around $34) with brisket and pulled pork. I appreciated that gave me lean and fatty brisket but, the pulled pork was absent any sauce so very dry. There are sauces on the table but, I am used to it being already covered in a sauce to keep the pork moist and tender. I ordered the brussel sprouts for my side which were swimming is a maple and cinnamon sauce with walnuts and cranberries. I gave my combo 3/5. My partner ordered the same combo but with burnt ends and turkey. I will admit, the turkey was very tender and will probably order that next time. He ordered the mac and cheese and that was okay (no cheese pull). My partner really enjoyed their combo and would give it 4/5. All in all, I have had better American style BBQ but, this is one of the few options in the South Bronx and it is not bad. It is not too far from the train so I may come back.

I went to Hudson Smokehouse tonight and was sadly a bit disappointed with the food. My partner and I ordered the 3 meat weekend special with rib tips, wings, and brisket, and a side of collard greens, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. All of the meat was on the dry end and the sides were almost inedible. The Mac and cheese tasted very artificial and almost had a plastic after taste while the collard greens were better but definitely lacking depth of flavor. The one redeeming part of our meal was the cornbread. Truly 10/10! We also ordered drinks (the passion fruit sangria and mango margarita) and both were good and decently well-balanced. Hospitality and atmosphere were also great!

Great space, loved the food and the service, came in hungry and got FED!!!!! Had my beer and just relaxed. No bad reviews, great open space, the vibes were great and the food was hot, plated quickly and I was ready.

I love being able to recommend a steakhouse that dry ages its own meats right here in the neighborhood. Yesterday, we were a bit pressed for time, so we ordered the lamb chops, skirt steak, and, of course, a nice bottle of wine. Everything was fantastic. The lamb chops were phenomenal, easily among the best I've had at any restaurant. They were incredibly flavorful, tender, and cooked to perfection. I'm usually not someone who enjoys eating the fat on meat, but the fat on these chops was rendered so beautifully that I found myself eating every bite. There wasn't a single chewy or unpleasant piece. I normally order the porterhouse or ribeye, but the skirt steak was an excellent choice when I wanted something leaner and quicker to enjoy without sacrificing flavor. The fried potato salad is another standout. It's a unique side that's absolutely worth ordering. And then there's the peppercorn sauce served with the lamb chops. It's a total mic drop. I honestly can't put into words how good it is. I found myself dipping everything in it (even my fingers ). It's that delicious! Fiorentina continues to impress every time we visit, and it's become one of my favorite places to recommend for a great steak dinner.

Not only did they make no gesture to accommodate them in any other way, this is an EXTREME ADA violation, and could have very well been a lawsuit. The manager, Jimmy, sat and watched as both my grandmother and great uncle struggled to take the stairs, no hand of assistance. When I approached him, I was told 'what's the big deal, so you had to take some stairs'. I told him my uncle fell last year and was hospitalized for 6 months, if you see someone in a walker, why would you do this? His response 'I don't know what you want me to do, buy you a drink?'. I had my mind set on ordering…read morenonfortified red sangria, but discovered they only have brandy or other liquor infused sangria they make in small batches. You cannot order a fresh carafe or pitcher of sangria with the fruit in it here, which is what I was expecting from a place headlining sangria. So your experience of the Sangria Cafe for sangria will come down to whether you like yours fortified. I like my sangria freshly made to order with just the wine and chopped fruit, but you may have a better experience at Sangria Cafe if you prefer fortified sangria. So the Manager, Elios, was superb. He told me he would let me taste the red, white and lychee versions to see which one I preferred. Given they are all fortified to an extent, I chose to order margaritas. I prefer mezcal margaritas, but they did not have mezcal at the time. So I went with the tequila classic. It was good and I had it to go for my evening at a cigar lounge. I also ordered food to go: the French cut pork chops with garlic mashed potatoes and asparagus and the braised beef short rib with small potatoes and broccoli. Here's a twist: the food was better than the adult beverage at a place emphasizing the latter. At all times, my server, Hector, was superb in his own right. Service is probably the strong suit at Sangria Cafe, followed by the food. The French cut pork chops taste like they have been marinated or at least brined. You will eat these down to the bone and you will pick up those bones to clean them. The garlic mashed potatoes were great too, but the asparagus was a bit overcooked. On balance, this $30 dish was satisfying and would have been better had they included a little gravy on the side for the mashed potatoes. The beef short rib at $38 was even tastier. I appreciate the chef took the time to get a good cut of short rib and trimmed the excess fat down to a leaner cut. The meat is inherently marbled with fat, so the flavor is already going to be as present as the savory tenderness. If you dine at a restaurant where there is excess fat on the beef short rib, know the chef there is not putting in the work to trim all that fat. Coudos to the chefs in the Sangria Cafe kitchen for their trimming work. This is even better than the pork chops and you'll savor every bite. The broccoli was overcooked here, so the chefs could restrain themselves on the cooking time for the veggies. The small potatoes were perfect and what is not to like about marbled beef and potatoes. Here they have a little gravy with cooked onions to add to the savory pleasure. The Sangria Cafe is a great place to come with friends. This place will see lots of action as the weather warms. The atmosphere is upbeat and the music is in full swing. This is a Latino and Afro Latino crowd. The kitchen and service are very good here. Perhaps I'm in the minority preferring nonfortified sangria, but I wish that were an option with the chopped fruit in it. Perhaps the majority prefers the fortified hit, but it would be nice to have it more relaxed with just the wine as summer approaches or at any time of the year. Please keep the mezcal in stock as SOP for the mezcal margs. Thanks to Elios, Hector and the chefs in the kitchen. 3.5 stars.
