They were kind, considerate, expedient, and of course the food was amazing! I was born in Houston,TX...this is certainly what I got as a kid. Just got delivery from here and it was not good. Don't waste time or money on weird tasting bbq. Everything we ordered had some funky bad taste to it. Mac n cheese and baked beans were so bad. I ordered through UberEats and, when Uber's delivery person stole my order and I called the Smokehouse, the amazing staff kindly, calmly, and efficiently empathized with me and offered to put my order in again. I walked over to pick it up and, after welcoming me with big smiles and immediately insisting that I choose a dessert on the house for my trouble, I spent only 5 minutes waiting while they finished cooking it all to perfection and packaging it in eco-friendly and beautifully designed packaging. The staff are so professional and warm, the restaurant is clean and well designed, and the food is out of this world delicious and perfectly priced. The biggest testament to this business is that they had the terrible luck of opening as a global pandemic began, and have stayed open (and stayed quality) as it has gone on. Quality BBQ has finally come to the Bronx. They serve all types of regional BBQ, from Texas style brisket, to Carolina Pork and Kansas City Ribs. The sides are good quality also. I had the Baked Beans, delicious. The Mac & Cheese was good quality also. Not quite the soul food style of Mac & Cheese but very cheesy and hearty. So happy this spot finally opened! The food was insanely delicious! The staff was super friendly and attentive! I went with a large group of 7. We went in! We ordered their ribs, brisket, turkey breast, and their pulled pork sandwich with fries, Mac, coleslaw and cornbread in the side. Everything was scrumptious! Love the charred pieces in the ribs! They are HUGE we have so much left over and I'm glad can't wait to dig in and finish the rest! My favorite was definitely the brisket it was so soft and tender you can tell it was cooked for many hours made in feel like I was somewhere in Texas! Their cornbread is truly something else definitely a must try! We also tried the dessert fried Oreos and Twinkies mouth watering!!This spot is definitely a gem in this neighborhood bringing the SOUTH to the South Bronx!! Was excited to try this place in my hood, and order food from this place to support local businesses, what I observed while waiting in line disgusted me so I left. I saw two men, who were donning the establishment's t-shirts, without masks behind the counter. One of the unmasked men brought food out to a table outside to some patrons without a mask, while holding the food close to his unmasked face. Another man was behind a counter, took out a big container of what looked like fried pork rinds, used his barehands to grab some and put into a bowl for the same table. I left disgusted, went to the table that received the pork rinds and told the patrons about the man using his barehands, they looked disgusted. Did not want to leave a bad review for any establishment during this pandemic, but even without COVID going on, I would be wary about the food handling here. If you have patrons waiting in line and expect them to wear masks, the staff should adhere to the same guidelines. It's sad because I wanted to try out their brisket, oh wells. read more

The ribs were great too but unfortunately, unlike the pork, they came a little cold. There's no table service, you have to go inside to place your order. They'll then bring it to you at the table. BAD food and even terrible service. We drove here from queens and were sorely disappointed. The place was empty when we walked in and the Spanish woman at the counter didn't address us till we said excuse me. After waiting for her to say something for over five minutes. We asked if there was pork in the collard greens and she rolled her eyes and said "I think so". Seriously? We got the mac and cheese, brisket, corn bread, and the burger and fries. The burger was dry. The brisket was cold and grissly. The mac and cheese tasted like it was made from the box mix, and the cornbread was also cold. Cold seems to be the operative word here because the fries were cold as well. We had to ask for, and get our own utensils, drinks, sauce, etc. All went along with attitude and eye rolls from the workers. And this wasn't just special treatment fror us, they were rude to the two other customers who walked in as well. I'd maybe take the attitude if their food was good. I'm giving top stars, because I enjoyed the food had just that much. However, I'd like to offer some constructive criticism. I will travel to the pits of Hell for some good BBQ. Hmmm...Hell just might be the best place to get some good smoky stuff. LOL... Visiting friends in the Bronx this weekend, I suggested we meet here. They had already been, and had positive feelings about the place, so we landed at Hudson Smokehouse ready to indulge. The drinks were surprisingly good. Why surprisingly? Because the bartenders looked so young, I just assumed the drinks wouldn't be great. My hubby loved his Bacardi punch, and our margaritas were quite tasty. For food, we ordered smoked turkey, jerk/Alabama white/dry rub wings, brisket, creamy coleslaw, mac & cheese and collard greens. Everything was simply fantastic!!! Even the m&c, which looked more like boxed mac&cheese, really had a pretty good flavor; not a fan of overly cheesy stuff, so it hit the spot. The collard greens were spicy and amazing! Of the meats, believe it or not, the smoked turkey was the star (juicy, flavorful and sans that "turkey taste" that can often turn me off. I was bummed the meats were not served with white bread. I'm a Southern boy, so that's a huge no-no for a BBQ, IMO. Now, our only issues, and they're not major for us, but I do think the restaurant should look into improving: While we were there, the place certainly had ample staff, with most seemingly standing around, and not taking advantage of moments to SELL. Yes, you order food from the counter, and it's brought to you, but no-one came to ask about refills of cocktails, which, knowing my crew, would have easily double the tab. At some point, it just becomes too much of a hassle to get up and down to stand on a line to order additional items when the staff has a portable pos systems that should allow for ordering and paying at the table. No-one approached to clear the table, or offer to-go containers. We cleared the table, and returned trays to the restaurant from our outside table. Someone did appear just as we were walking away to get the residual glasses we left behind. There was no "thank you," or even a wave good-bye. During this trying time, you'd think restaurants would be doing all it can to ensure it's maximizing sales. We could not enjoy their pork ribs, which I'm sure would have been delicious. The gentleman who appeared to be in charge of smoking the meats appeared rather unbothered by our disappointment. Not once did he look at us, and address us. Instead, he chose to address the cashier with a "they're not ready" response. When I asked how long, he appeared a little annoyed, and offered a "about thirty minutes" reply. In the end, we certainly had enough food, but we all (party of five) wanted to try the ribs. Lastly, I enjoy tipping. It's the ultimate way of saying "thank you" in the service industry. When paying with credit card, the cashier skipped the screen that would allow me to tip. I pointed this out to her, and she said "I'm so used to doing it. Cash tips are better anyway." I rarely carry cash, so I said I'll come back in to order something else, and I'll tip on that purchase. Again, she skipped the tip screen. Ugh!!! I actually went to an ATM to retrieve cash so that I could leave a proper tip. Please folks, don't cheat yourselves. I will definitely return to this place, because that food was THAT GOOD. I just hope they continue to improve customer service. read more

The fam and I have been wanting to give this place a try, we came in on a Friday night at 8:00, it had a fair amount of customers dining in, and many grabbing take out. The decor is lovely and the vibe is chill. The hubs had the pulled pork sandwich, I had the grilled Henny chicken sandwich with cole slaw and roasted corn, my son had the bbq wings and Mac and cheese, everyone was very happy with their meals. Employees are friendly,efficient and courteous. They have a full bar with great selections, and lots of good beer on tap. We will def be returning. A pulled pork burger with no side included cost about $16.80.... Just a of brisket order cost almost $20 with no sides!!! This is a rip off !!! And it's not fair that your app and your in house specials are different ! Just to serve meat with no sides for almost twenty dollars is a rip off!!! Than your sides are $6.90 each and they give you half of what you get served if you sit in from your in house orders. So you charge more for delivery and give less... plus charge a crazy delivery fee !!! Never again! I rather go somewhere else!!!! So disappointing! I will never give this place my money ever again! First time here, I came with my coworkers for lunch. One of them some how convinced me to get the turkey sandwich of all things at a barbecue joint and it absolutely did not disappoint. It was so flavorful with nice thick juicy slices. We all did a lunch special. I paid for 50¢ extra for a side of jerk sauce for a jerk turkey sandwich. I got the creamy coleslaw for my side which was delicious but was just to big of a serving size. None of use finish our sides and that's not to say the weren't good they were just huge portions. Hudson Smokehouse catered my son's graduation party for over 70 people but they brought food for over 100 and everyone went home with dinner for another night !!! Being married to a chef and always getting the most delicious bbq prepared by him I was curious if this smokehouse could live up to expectations..... Well darn! I'm am blown away by the absolute delicious Moist Brisket and the most delectable Porkbelly Burnt ends. I got a portion of the Beans and Bacon which had just the correct ratio of the two mixed together with a tangy little taste to it. For dessert I treated myself to the deep fried Oreo and oh man was it yummy. I believe it is safe to say that I will definitely be coming back to order some more from Hudson Smokehouse. read more
