OMG. I love Huey's. They have the best hot wings. Ever. The burgers are greasy, juicy, and oh-so tasty. The The cobb salad is fantastic when smothered with their oh-so-yum ranch dressing (which goes well with the wings, of course). My favorite burgers are (in order of most fave to least fave): Texas burger, California burger, traditional burger w/ cheddar. Casual atmosphere: I can go in there looking like a bum and feel okay about it. Caveat: don't order the chicken on a stick snack. It's pretty miniscule. read more

I am going to dive right into this one. The reason I am giving it a three star rating is because this place is so-called the best burger spot in town and I must say I must beg to differ. I order a classic burger there. However I read that it was only a 1/3 pound burger so i doubled the patty and the waiter said it was cool people to it all the time. I was visiting Memphis last week to see family, and we made sure to stop in at Huey's for my annual meal. It was PACKED, but it was a Friday night after all. Everyone had great food. I had the salad with the chicken strips, which was delicious. The fries are good and the onion straws are the best! The other folks at the table had burgers, and I think everyone was happy. Let's just say plates left the table empty and no-one had room for dessert. This is one restaurant I will make a point of returning to every year when I come see my family. read more

Discovered this place while searching restaurants online and was really impressed with the food. I only ordered a burger (which was recommended), but it was the softest burger I ever had, which was actually a good thing. It is not a fancy place by any means, but the food is worth a stop and isn't that why you go to restaurants in the first place? Stopped by Huey's after a long night out. Walked in at around 1:30 am so we seated ourselves. Within seconds of sitting we were greeted by our server. She didn't give us her name but she was prompt and friendly. We placed our drink our while perusing the menu. We decided on fried mushrooms, cheese fries, and a grilled chicken sandwich. Our food took about 15 minutes to come and everything was piping hot. The mushrooms were served with a horseradish dip and were crispy and tasty. The cheese fries were hot and crispy topped with melted cheese, scallions. And very crispy real chopped bacon. The chicken sandwich did not disappoint either. It was topped with lettuce, tomato, swiss cheese, and I opted for ranch dressing instead of mayo. Yum. Overall, my experience at Huey's was great. That's why I come here often. Onion rings are huge! Delicious because made with purple onions instead of white. The bluff city burger was pretty tasty except it didnt have any sauce on it. Had to get a side of mayo. Besides that it was a good meal. Disappointed that fries or onions dont come standard these days and have to pay almost $3 for a side with your burger. read more

Good burgers, really great service! Kids meals were large and tasty. Sweet tea is good. My husband loved the fried mushrooms. My only downfall was right before we got up to leave I felt something on my shoulder and brushed it off and then looked down on my thigh and there was a roach on me. I jumped up and showed my husband and then I had to get outside. The waiter felt really bad and I know it wasn't his fault but I won't be able to go back. My husband and kids had a wonderful experience and didn't have any complaints! Really though, good food, just an unfortunate experience for me. read more

The Tuna steak burger I had was good. The onion rings that i requested were BIIIIG. Yes, way too big and oily. I tried fried mushrooms as well and they were undercooked. I did not get my glass refilled after it was empty. Please don't do this to your customers. Also, as a side note Please confine the area where people can spit their toothpicks to a non-dining section. You may consider it cool to have your patrons spit toothpicks to the ceiling but having food under a ceiling full of toothpicks that came out of someone's food blown to the ceiling is gross to me. My son started school in Memphis in 2013, and since 2012 we have visited relating to college tour, admissions, orientation, move in day, parents weekend.... let's just say Huey's is a must on each visit. While everything is great, I always get the Sunshine Burger. If you intend on having conversations while you eat, best to be done eating by 8 if a band is setting up. The place is small enough that the bands are too loud otherwise. It is popular with the 20s crowd after the dinner hour, and rightfully so. Good food, music and drinks. Very suprised that the food was so fresh and hot, especially during shelter in place right now. The delivery (through door dash) was very fast. Called in to place a to-go order around 10pm on a Saturday night. Got an answer from "Mike" on the phone. "Hueys" is all he says. "Yea, can I please place a to-" Mike cuts me off, "we're not taking phone orders. Call back in 15 - 20 mins and try again," he says. Wtf?! The kitchen IS open at this time correct?! Why would I wait just to place an order?! Isnt that why I'm placing an order? So I can begin my wait?! Also, how do I know they'll start taking orders 15 to 20 mins later if they arnt taking them now?! To me, this is pure laziness on Mikes part. No business who wants to retain customers says that to their patrons. Not much of a big deal, I was already on my way to the restaurant, I'll just place my order, TO-GO when I got there. I get there, take a seat at the bar and order my food. Wow! He actually took a pen and paper out and wrote the 2 things I wanted down! LITERALLY took less time for that process, than it did for him to tell me they weren't taking phone orders anymore! Shortly after ordering, two gentlemen walk up to the bar and ask for the food they had CALLED IN. Curiosity got the best of me, so I asked, "how long ago did you guys order?" Not much to my surprise they said about the same time I called. Mike overheard my conversation with these two as he was handing them their food and thought it would be best to put his two cents into the conversation I wasn't having with him. "Well, well, my manager said I couldn't take orders over the phone any more cuz our kitchen is backed up." (BULL SHIT! If it was that bad, then why aren't you denying people at the door then?) I reply, "well the kitchen didnt seem backed up when you took my order here, so what difference does it make if I order on a phone or here at the bar?" Mike rolls his eyes at me and smacks his lips, "you know you could've gone somewhere else." I couldn't believe what I heard. He goes on, "Do we have a problem?" he asks me.... THIS IS WHY THEY GET 1 STAR from me. Again, you dont talk to your patrons like that! And he's being such a douche about the whole thing. Completely unapologetic, rude, and acting like I'm the one in the wrong. This isnt the first time staff at this location has been rude to either me or my gf. TO MIKE: Thanks for the wonderful advice! I am so disappointed to share an awful experience we encountered with your manager, Miguel at the Midtown location (6/04). When entering the restaurant I requested a table for a party of 6, in addition an unexpected friend joined our party and we pulled an empty chair from an empty table that was next to ours. Around 30 minutes later Miguel came to our table and demanded to give him a chair back as our party only requested six. He had such a negative attitude and condescending tone. That the guests around us drew to his attention. We were quiet appalled and shocked because of his actions as he continued to impatiently stand over us, forcing one of us to get up and give back the chair. Making us feel completely embarrassed and unwelcome. However our server did witness this and later came with a chair (miraculously). Our server was great and attentive, but Miguel's approach was very unacceptable & concerning especially in a leadership role. He is your face to your brand and I doubt this is the standard you'd like to have as a reputation or even have your staff think it's appropriate to portray. I would highly suggest to follow up with him as this was extremely poor customer service. The least he could have done was express his concern in a decent manner or come up with a solution for accommodating our unexpected guest. Miguel lacks communication and empathetic skills which are imperative in the customer service field. I suggest that he may need to be retrained to ensure future incidents don't occur and how to properly provide great customer satisfaction. Or he should maybe choose another field as customer service is NOT his strong suit. We love Huey's, but this will be the last time we go to that location. read more

I love Hueys, it's one of my favorite restaurants in Memphis. However this location has the worst service. The bartenders here are extremely rude and make it seem as if you're taking up time for asking them questions. I have nothing negative to say about a single Huey's dish but I have plenty of words to say about some of the staff they choose to employ. read more

The place is too small for a live band crank up that loud while trying to have a sit down meal.... We were here from Texas, for my husbands job, and wanted to try a local eatery. After reading the reviews on Yelp for Huey's we decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed! The queso was absolutely amazing, the chicken philly cheesesteak was perfect and the Madison burger with onion rings couldn't have been better!! Not only was the food delicious, the prices were comparable to what you'd pay at a fast food restaurant and it has a very fun and casual atmosphere! I went to college in Memphis for three years. Pretty much every Sunday it would be noon, I would be snoozing off a fierce hangover, and then my roomie would come knock on my door and say..."Wake up! It's HUEY'S time!" I would grumble, say "I'm not hungry", but all the while I'd be throwing on my clothes from the night before and a hat so that I could get there as soon as possible. The burgers are great, pita wraps are pretty good too, and so are the other sandwiches. I wasn't a huge fan of the thick cut fries, but it never seemed to stop me from eating them all. The waitstaff always keeps the diet Cokes coming to help you get your caffeine fix. Huey's Midtown used to be fantastic. I used to recommend it to people visiting Memphis from out of town, and after so many consistently bad experiences, I cannot recommend it. The food could have been better, but the orders were also wrong. The orders were slowed down by Huey's internal system, and for some reason, the employees seemed to think their internal issues are the customer's fault. The service is awful, and the employees discuss how messed up their system is in front of the customers. Two out of 3 orders were wrong this time. Sometimes, every order has something wrong with it and doesn't match the ticket. The managers do not hold the employees accountable for their attitude or poor service, and that's not good in a town with tourisms, where reputation matters. The burgers can be good, but since two of them tonight were rare and nearly raw, we fed those to the dogs. I gave Huey's an added star for a decent burger when they get it right. However, plan on Huey's getting it wrong. What once was will not always be. Huey's used to be the best by far. Now, there are so many different and better options, I recommend taking your money somewhere that consistently has good service and good food. read more

OK - I have been to Huey's a millions times. I have even been to all of them in town. This review is on the black bean burger. I'm not eating beef right now, but I was carving a burger. I've tried their veggie burger and it was just alright - I wouldn't get it again. Two of my co-workers told me they had black bean burger and it was delicious. So I called my order in and in 20 minutes I was back at the office devouring my burger. It was not only delicious, but it was satisfying and it hit the spot.
