Normally I start my review with the good but this has to be said, The Four Queens is a disgusting casino and place to have to walk through to get to dinner. When you finally find the stairs to Hugo's its in the middle of casino after walking past a stank uncleaned restroom. They seat you in far back area of the dining room but the smell of cigarettes and alcohol soaked carpets in the casino follows you. And it's very warm, dark and dreary (not romantic) in the cellar full of customers and staff. Good food but dont feel it was worth the price even if location was perfect Filet Mignon with potatoes (love the grill marks and flavor of steak) Crabcake (superb) Ceasar salad We both had the same appetizer, entree and sides based on what we saw on the reviews. Crabcake was excellent. We both asked for a Ceasar salad with no anchovies but they had anchovies in the dressing and it was disgusting. Then we had the filet mignon (asked for rare of course) and it was cooked/grilled perfectly, just wish they had salted it on the outside. Fingerling potatoes and vegies were good compliment to the filet. The best part of the night was talking with and having great wines with the sommelier. Visited Hugo's cellar and all the locals, tourists and everyone knows this is one of the best if not the best dinner experience on Vegas. The customer service is outstanding and out of this world the way you are greeted and treated and respected here. The entire staff was amazing especially Truth! He was a joy and a pleasure to be around. The ambiance is old school, cellar 50's feel to this place! So much character and I'm such history in this place. And for the food well, I have to stay 5 stars on everything. The steak was delicious the mashed potatoes were great and the overall flavor of the food was very good. I would say this is probably the most tender steak I have ever eaten and could be the fact aged for 40 days making it one of the most aged steak in the area. This place is simply a 5 star experience! As far as the steak, one of my top 5 to 6 steaks I've had as far flavor and tenderness. I wouldn't say the best but certainly up there for sure. Hugos has been a favorite of ours for 40 years. We have been celebrating special occasions there for years. The salad bar is amazing.

We got a recommendation from a friend about this restaurant as a place to go that's going to be around for a long time and it did not disappoint. The service at Hugo's is outstanding. Been there a number of times and always leave full bellied and a pleasant dining experience. Your entree includes a salad prepared at you table. And a sorbet cone to cleanse you palate.You also get chockate dipped strawberries, apricot and figs. For my salad I choose mushrooms, bay shrimp, anchovies, fetta cheese crumbles and artichoke. We also ordered the crab cake and escargots as an appitizer. I splurged and ordered the Alaskan King Crab Legs ( $100 a pound). No room for dessert. I'm kind of shocked that this place exists on Fremont Street! I'm so glad I heard about it (sometime in the last couple of years, since my last Vegas trip in 2019) and went to experience it for myself. As soon I was checked in for my reservation (table for 1, of course), the host said "First thing's first" and handed me a red rose. Every lady gets one! Then another staffer brought me to my table in the back and placed my rose in a vase (every table has one!). When my server asked to take my drink order, I asked for a cocktail menu, but he assured me that whatever I wanted, they could make. So I asked if they had blue cheese olives for a dirty gin martini, and he said, "Whatever we don't have, we can make." And voilà! The perfect martini showed up, with 3 blue cheese olives and plenty of extra martini in a sidecar nestled in a bucket of ice. Next a basket of bread arrived with butter in the shape of a rose. Then the salad cart comes -- you choose your dressing first, and then the server rattles off the ingredients you can add. I chose Caesar (a good choice) with lots of other options and even got some bonus artichoke I don't think I asked for. Next time I would probably skip the shrimp. LOVE tableside service! In between the salad and the main entree, they brought me a raspberry sorbet palate cleanser in a tiny cone. Felt more desserty than refreshing but it was good and I enjoyed it. The 10 oz. New York Strip was a perfect portion and cooked nicely medium rare. You have your choice of sauces, but they recommend Bordelaise, which is what I went for and I think was the right choice. I don't love asparagus (which automatically came with the steak) and I think I might've enjoyed the regular mashed potatoes more than the scalloped blue cheese/horseradish potatoes I upgraded to. I was way too full to order dessert, but I did take a few nibbles out of the fruit plate that arrived as part of the meal -- especially the chocolate covered strawberry, which was just perfect. I give 5 stars for both service and ambiance. The only reason I didn't give it a 5 star review overall was because of a couple of preference issues with the food, but this is definitely higher than a 4. read more

we had dinner here about 20 years ago and it was amazing we always talk up hugo when vegas comes up. Last night though left us disappointed in some respects. 8 diners. the good- food was amazing and delicious. filet mignon was perfect. Everyone said their meal was great. Ambience and setting more great. Wines- John our Wine Sommelier was fantastic and really made the night. the bad- our waiter was pushy, trying to get us to order our food before we were ready. even made a comment "we can't make your meal if you don't order it" and he was not joking. Granted we got there a little late in the night but the place closes at 10 and we left a little after 10 so it wasn't like we were eating our meal at 10. The salad preparer was not friendly at all. She made a great salad, but just felt like she didn't want to be there. We were all courteous and said thank you each time they brought us something, but it just felt like our waiter and salad person did not want to be there. This place is expensive and we knew that going in there, but if you're gonna pay that kind of money you expect it to be perfect . to keep a good reputation for the restaurant you need to be courteous and friendly, even if you don't want to be there. Outstanding service from experienced staff that are here because they want to be, not "have to be". Professional, warm, friendly, and most importantly made the world feel like a normal place again (did I mention we were in Vegas!). Every dish was excellent, prime rib tender and succulent. Ribeye was juicy with great beefy, deep-umami flavor. Salad, included with entree, was prepared table side. Vegas' greatest hidden gem. I have spent Christmas Eve with my family here the last 10 years and each year the experience is such a highlight and so special to me. Absolutely no one does it like Hugo's, truly one of the best fine dining experiences you will ever find anywhere in the World. Such a special place. The table side salad and all of the thoughtful accouterments that come out with each course it is a true experience! The service is amazing and the same people have been working here as long as I have been coming which tells you so much about how a place treats their staff which I truly respect. Wow!! This is definitely a hidden gem in old Vegas which I highly recommend. I also advise making reservations as they were busy even on a Sunday night. The staff was SO friendly and most of them have worked there for quite some time. They were extremely a knowledgeable of the menu and offered great choices. They worked together in a team which made it easy to get refills, etc. The food was delicious! Also, the mobile salad bar - chefs kiss! I thought everything was reasonably priced. The restaurant is tucked downtown in the Four Queens Hotel. Park at the valet, since this restaurant will validate it for you. Upon checking in, the waiter gives you a beautiful rose. When sitting down, the waiter puts the rose in water. When your meal is over, the waiter wraps the rose in foil so you can take it home. My favorite is the table-side salad bar. The waiter gives you all the options you can put in your salad. Hugo's salad is definitely one of my top favorite salads in Vegas. The cheeseboard and the lobster bisque is also very delicious. After your appetizers, you are given palette cleanser mini ice cream cones. Then your main entree comes out! I love the filet mignon and the New York Strip. Dean the bartender made my gf a MilkPunch she loved it! She had 2 and said it was as good as hers! (Deans first time making milk punch it was perfect). All the food and drinks were 10 Stars. It's been a few years since I've been here. All I can say is that they've come far and have made me a fan. Definitely one for special occasions, we walked in and were warmly greeted and seated. First awesome thing was their martinis . They serve them with a second mini carafe on ice so you get two full ice cold ones. 5 stars for that alone . Great bread basket with a nice assortment to choose from. Started with the escargot and shared with my partner. It reminded me of a mini Wellington with some breading around. Next had the table made ceaser which was so good with tons of selections. One of the best! Finally my Chilean seabass was fantastic. Comes with lots of potato choices and I had the garlic mashed and green beans. Partner had the filet and he said it was one of the best. They also present a wonderful light dessert with the meal of chocolate covered strawberries and dates. Perfect!! We wanted to try the bananas foster but who no room after that. Made reservations for a Saturday night on Valentine's Day weekend and we were seated right away. Upon being seated the women gets a rose which I thought is such a cute gesture. The ambience inside was dark which made it very romantic and I love how it's underneath like a real cellar type of vibe. I felt like the space was pretty small and the tables are so close together that you can hear all the conversations going on which made it hard to hear my other half so instead of sitting across each other, like we normally do, I ended up having to sit next to him. What I loved most about the food is the extras that automatically come with the meal at no additional cost: -Bread: which was just ok IMO -Salad: Prepared right next to your table. You have 3 salad options which come with the extra fixings if you want it (eggs, shrimp, onions, croutons, anchovies, mushroom, parmesan cheese, pepper) -Sherbet on a cone: to cleanse your palate before your actual meal. -Chocolate covered strawberries, figs, and apricots: for dessert which will come after your meal. Now for the actual meal- you have the option of mashed potatoes or fingerling potatoes AND veggies that come with the meal. -Ribeye (16oz) served with sides of fingerling potatoes, asparagus, onion, and mushroom. My other half didn't care too much for the fingerling potatoes but it was the closest option he had to French fries which is his normal go-to with this steaks. -New York strip (10oz) made Oscar style served with sides of mashed potatoes, asparagus, onion, and mushroom. I absolutely love how their Oscar style is made with about 2-3 large pieces of crab. -Australian lobster (8oz) served with lemon and melted butter kept warm at your table. The lobster we received was definitely larger than an 8oz but no complaints over here. As far as flavor goes, nothing really stood out with our meals compared to other steakhouses we've been to but nonetheless, the food was still good and the service was great which makes it worth my 5 star review. read more

This was my second time dining here. I met an old friend for a reunion evening together in Las Vegas and knew that kicking it old school was the way to go! We both had the petit filet with the prawns, martini cocktails and just had a lovely night enjoying catching up. Las Vegas has so many new restaurants and steak houses galore but if you are going to spend $125 pp on dinner- go for the scenery, old time service and the history. Table side salad made to order is so fun, roses for each of us and chocolate dipped strawberries. I've been there several times. It's always been ranked at the top of steakhouses I want visitors to experience. They have lost a customer. That said the wait staff, Art & Scott were great. The cleanup staff, however, dropped plates and silverware all around us. Seating felt cramped. Other drunk and very casual clients felt free to be loud and harass other tables' females. Silverware initially came dirty. However, the salad from Scott was nice. The steaks either came raw or overcooked. Not to order. Other tables were loud and free to sing songs. It felt like a Sizzler. This is one of my favorite special occasion restaurant in town. The food is good but the experience is the best part. From the moment you walk in, you are treated like a VIP. The ladies receive a rose which is a nice touch. They have a tableside salad bar, a large wine menu and great cocktails. They do have a dress code which IMO is refreshing when you are spending a good amount of money for a meal. It's a place where you can have a romantic dinner, celebrate a special occasion or even a girls night out. I will continue to come here as I've never been disappointed. Expect to spend $80+ for the entree. They also have a split a plate option. The steak and lobster were also just average nothing special. The sauce on the steak was very salty. The mashed potatoes were over stirred and sticky not creamy like they should be. A little disappointed in the food ~ lobster bisque had 2 small morsels and was very thick--it did taste good. The main meal came with roasted Brussels sprouts which none of us ate. My baked potatoes came with cheese after I said no cheese. I did not like the peppercorn sauce with my steak. The steaks and lobster were wonderful and all told you do get a lot of food. We have been coming to this restaurant since 1999 and have been here at least 6-7 times and I always recommend people when they ask for a good steak in Vegas. Saturday night missed the mark! Reservation was for 6:00 and it was after 7:00 before we even got the salad. We had to ask for it. We were party of 7 and there was another big table behind us who came after us and got their food way before we did. We were there for almost 3 hours. Not ONCE did our waiter come to the table to apologize for long wait. We finally got our food around 8:30. It was close to 9:00 by the time we left! For $750, I expect excellent service and it was not good at all. Then when I asked if we could split the check, one person said yes and then the waiter came back and I asked him and he was pretty rude in saying I can do a few checks but I can't split it how you want! I don't know who ordered what! That sealed it for me! After waiting and taking almost 3 hours, he should've done whatever I asked at that point. And especially for a high priced meal such as this. Had drinks at Hugo's in hopes of being seated as soon as there was an opening, we were told by front staff, we could be seated if in case of cancellations. A person showed up after us and somehow she was seated. We were no longer being acknowledged by front staff, though to be fair, the bartender did do right by our drinks. It became awkward as the bartender attempted to salvage the situation by providing us with a menu and asking if we wanted more drinks. We quickly hopped onto OpenTable and booked a table at Andiamo. I believe this gem has been here for 48 years. It is like stepping back into time as you walk down into the cellar of the Four Queens and enter the dimly lit bar of Hugo's. We decided to try Hugo's given it's rich history and I love a restaurant that stands the test of time. Each lady receives a long stemmed rose when they walk in, they have little vases on the tables you can put them in. Our server was actually a team of three that took great care of us... as I looked around at all the full tables it is is clear people love this place. I was pleasantly surprised after impulsively ordering a Manhattan (not my normal drink, maybe the old dark 70's vibe made me do it) when they brought me the chilled glass and a little ice bucket with decanter in it. It was more like 2 drinks... and I never get upset at being brought too much of a cocktail! The menu has a lot of the traditional chop house type entree's. I was quite surprised how reasonable the prices were given it is not ala carte like many higher end restaurants - you got a table side salad, veggie and potato/rice with every entrée. We had the jumbo shrimp cocktail (YUM) and the house made sauces were delicious. The table side salad construction which I absolutely loved did not disappoint. My Hubs had the filet mignon, I had chicken and both were very good. They surprised us with a dessert at the end - some sort of chocolate heaven I will say that. I've had some good meals in Las Vegas, but this has to be the best meal I've ever had in Las Vegas: my friend and I both ended up getting the NY Strip Steak (which comes with Bread, mashed potatoes, and tableside salad-more on the last in a bit). The service was quick, efficient and polite. Now, onto the tableside salad service - as much as I enjoyed my steak, the tableside salad service is almost enough to get me to come back on it's own, description: someone will come to your table, and you will go over which dressings (there was a choice of 3 types, I assume this is standard), and toppings (get the artichoke heart, no seriously), and done with the type of friendly and efficient service that you just don't get anymore. Atmosphere - this is a beautiful dining room, though casual tourists might feel a bit underdressed (I was dressed casually and am writing this review, so it doesn't hold you back). Also, if you are someone who wants to impress a date, GF, fiance, or wife? All the women get roses at the door, which is a lovely touch. One last note on service - as we were leaving my friend and I stopped by the folks up front, and the young lady who handles seating asked me "Did you remember your hat?" (I did not). Even with everyone she seats, she remembered I wore a hat coming in (which I then took off at the table, it is a rule).
