We arrived about an hour before closing. The place was still busy. We ordered our food and had a typical wait. Things arrived as they were done. The kids like sitting at the round tables that have the big turn table in the middle. It makes sharing fun. I had the General Tsos. My grandson got the orange chicken. My granddaughter had the pork lo mein. We also ordered the crab Rangoon. I really prefer mine with duck sauce but they only have sweet and sour here which isn't a favorite of mine. The crab Rangoon was good. Would have enjoyed it more with duck sauce. General Tso was good. The orange chicken was a hit. The pork fried rice was ok. Nothing special about it. I was surprised to see a charge on our bill for the boxes we needed to take home our leftovers. Foods ok. People are pleasant. Service is standard. read more

Ordered during Chinese New Year so the wait was crazy! Called in an order, was told 45-60 minutes. Perfect. Show up a hour and 15 later and was told a hour and half more...waited the entire time and finally got our food. Ordered the normal items and it was okay. Portion size was decent and the price was okay. Overall it's a okay place for Chinese food but nothing stood out. Everything was decent but tasted like it sat out for awhile or was pre prepared. BRING YOUR OWN TUPPERWARE FOR TAKEOUT bcs they charge per container. The general tso chicken was the best thing on my table!!! A must order! I also ordered garlic fried rice, but I couldn't taste the garlic anywhere!! It tasted like regular fried rice! The egg rolls were good, but the sauce was bland. The salt & pepper pork chops were very salty, but I guess that what I ordered since it's in the name lol. I asked if they had a side of sauce for the pork chops & the server said "no need Bcs it alrdy has plenty flavor" LOL she still brought out honey mustard & soy sauce. This is our 2nd time to dine-in at this restaurant. Why did we go back? 1) there is available parking at the back of the building; 2) the establishment is very clean (even the restroom); 3) their dishes are prepared just right, not oily, not salty, perfect for seniors like us; 4) service is very pleasant and serves complimentary tea for dine-in. We are trying each item on the menu and so far what we've tried are all delicious: House Special Chowmein, WonTon Mein, Beef Chow Fun Dry, Char Siu Fried Rice, Tofu With Vegetable. read more

Go to Panda Express instead--it's only a couple blocks away. Their food is just as good if not better than The Great Wall of China--and it costs LESS! The food at TGWOC is mediocre at best, way overpriced for what you get, and the service is slow as molasses. Not recommended. read more

My go to Chinese restaurant in the heart of Wahiawa. Food always good never disappoint.

As a former chef and current foodie, I'm a bit surprised this place only averages 3.3 stars. While I have experienced some waiting with food, it was rare and usually due to high volume. I do not order fried foods here so I can't really speak to their quality, but their entrées are typically spot on. The food is always piping hot and freshly made. Their vegetables are cooked to a nice al dente bite, and retain their bright colors. I have never experienced any overcooked or highly processed ingredients. Their sauces are not heavily starched and retain clean flavors. Their portions are also adequate and then some. The staff is always pleasant. I have had Chinese food all across the mainland and here in Hawaii, and the Great Wall in Wahiawa offers some of the best cooked, flavored and presented Chinese food anywhere. I've been coming here since I was a kid. Love the food and staff. The new restaurant (they used to be located across the street) is spacious, clean and bright. My fave dishes include the spicy pork eggplant, shrimp egg fuyoung and sweet and sour pork There's a parking lot in back of the restaurant and I've never had a problem finding parking. Another good night at Great Wall. My son came home from Germany and was craving some Chinese so we decided to go here for another try. Glad we did food was ono as usual. Service was great! Updated review. Everything tasted great! We got general tso chicken (one spicy one regular), orange chicken, fried rice, chicken lo mein, and chicken egg rolls. All were fresh and flavorful. Staff was very friendly. Parking is in the back and open now. Very clean. Price is a bit high for take out but it's a nice sit down restaurant as well. Our takeout for family of 5, well really 4 because wife and youngest shared was $115. We had leftovers and usually Chinese takeout isn't the best leftover but it was still just as good the next day. On my first visit to this restaurant, I had no idea it would be this clean. The parking lot is to the left of a light-green condo building where it seemed that the owners might live. As we walked in, we saw several open tables and chairs very well organized in the room and were soon led to a set of matching wooden chairs surrounding the round table with smooth, rounded edges and corners making it safe for a baby. All the decorations were extraordinary, including the centerpiece plant on the 'lazy Susan' glass rotator where we sat. An image of the Great Wall of China is masterfully painted on a huge porcelain vase and beside it were paintings of various scenes in China. On the opposite wall, a design next to a paper maché arrangement of silverware read 'Let's Eat!', so we promptly flipped to the vegetarian section of the menus we were handed. There are many great vegetarian dishes to choose from for those concerned about their diet. We started off with a couple of spring rolls with sweet Asian chili sauce. Then we had a veggie dish of garlic ONG Choy. We had a sizzling platter of eggplant and my date Lehua was impressed by how the chefs shaved all the rough skin of the eggplant to leave them so smooth and silky looking. We also had a bowl of brown rice served with curry tofu with peas and carrots. Overall, we had a great meal in a beautiful restaurant for a wonderful deal! Maybe the green attracts abundance? First impressions mean a lot to me and the one I had here wasn't the best. My husband wanted to try a chinese restaurant we've never been so we came to Great Wall. It was around 6:20pm on Thursday night. We walked in and they were pretty empty with a couple people waiting to pickup takeout orders and a family eating in. We looked at the menu and decided to order take out. After placing the order, and paying cash I realized that the girl didn't give me a receipt or take my name. We waited and waited and waited. At this point it had been about 45 mins and the restaurant was beginning to get busier. I inquired on my order with a waitress that was at the register and told her I never got a receipt for my order and it had been quite a while. There were now about 5 Quick Cuisine guys waiting for orders as well as several other customers that had ordered take out. I asked one of the ladies that got her order how long ago she placed it and she told me about an hour and a half! The waitress asked me what I ordered and went to check on it with the kitchen. She came out about 5 mins later and said they were boxing it up. 10 more minutes go by and my order finally comes out: 2 orders cakes noodle w/gravy, 2 orders pork fried rice, 1 order mochiko chicken, 1 order general tsao chicken, 6 steam buns, and 12pc honey walnut shrimp $72 and change. The food was not worth the wait :( the cake noodle was alright. The steam buns were dense and chewy. The mochiko chicken was pale and chewy. The fried rice was bland. The general tsao chicken was mediocre. The honey walnut shrimp were poorly battered but had a nice flavor. Overall this was not a pleasant experience and I do not think I will return. If you do decide to order takeout or come in for lunch or dinner be ready for a long wait. read more

This was my last attempt at finding good (east coast style) Chinese food on the island. I had high hopes since they had both egg foo young and egg drop soup on the menu. We ordered via Door Dash and it arrived quickly, well-packaged and hot. They definitely know what they are doing when it comes to take-out. We ordered: orange chicken, house fried rice, egg foo young, and hot and sour soup. All of our favorites from home. Unfortunately, none of the items that we ordered were very good. The orange chicken was the best out of what we ordered, but had a pretty strong chemically orange taste. It was much more red than we were used to. The hot and sour soup was our second favorite, but was quite bland and didn't have much tofu, egg or mushroom. It was mostly broth. read more

Went on Christmas Day for Chinese as it's a tradition for my family. The wait time was pretty standard being around an hour. I was very disappointed in the actual taste of all the food. The sweet and sour chicken was pretty bland as was the veggie lo mein. I was disappointed that the duck did NOT come with any duck drippings (sauce). Everywhere I've ever been comes with some sauce to dip it in. The duck itself was the best item we got. Everything else was bland, just lacking in any flavor. I think this place is very underrated. As one of the other reviewers here stated this reminds me of East Coast style Chinese cuisine. They were open for dine in and we had an order of: Spring Rolls, Crab Rangoon, Mochiko Chicken, Honey Walnut Shrimp, Pork Fried Rice, and vegetable Lo Mein. They were pretty busy and they warned us it would take a bit. We got our food in waves, nothing came at once but it was okay. Everything arrived in 45 minutes but we were eating our appetizers within 10 minutes. The food was delicious. I have been looking all over for this type of cuisine and I am so glad its really close to where I live. I have been here twice already and will enjoy coming back. read more

The aunties at the front are always helpful and nice when I go. And the food is usually ready pretty fast. This is my third time getting the Singapore Rice Noodles. It's my fave dish but I won't be going back to Great Wall again. When I first opened it, I couldn't find any shrimp, so I went back in and showed the owner. She was able to find one. I told her I hope there's more than one and she said there's at least five. I took it home and could only find three! The first time I got this dish it was full of big shrimp, now only three. Three strikes and Great Wall is out! read more
