We ate here twice. Service is very good and they can do a great filet! The atmosphere is pretty amazing too. Open air and comfortable. It stays pretty busy so I would recommend reservations. I saw a few people turned away that didn't have reservations. They try to push the dessert on you at the end and I would say it's not worth the hype. Skip the dessert and enjoy the steak!

Came here for dinner last night and left with a side of fraud. The waiter claimed they don't take tap/Apple Pay. That being said, I had to give him my credit card number, CVV, expiration date while he manually inputted it. He oddly read it aloud while typing it in, which I thought was dumb, since what if someone walking by overheard? Within 12 hours of leaving, there's $8,000 of Walmart charges. I locked the card and reported fraud.

Everything about this restaurant gave us the Hawaiian dining experience we were seeking We arrived without a reservation and placed on a waitlist. Fortunately they seated us within 10 minutes in the dining area near the hotel bar located outside of the their main dining room. This was the perfect location because we were semi outside and in the area where they had a musician playing. Josh our waiter was amazing. Explained the menu and provided us with phenomenal service. The food was delicious. We ordered various fish dishes. Our plates all had a Hawaiian twist to them in their preparation. What a great way to get our Hawaii vacation started.

What an experience, and the price is absolutely justified. Amazing food, excellent service, and beautiful ambiance all in one. We came with a reservation since our hotel was nearby and walkable. I was celebrating my birthday, and the staff really helped make it special. We were seated in the indoor area with a lovely view of the ocean and pool, which set the tone for the night. Here's what I tried: Chowder - Included with the entrée. Not your traditional clam chowder, but very tasty and well-balanced. (4.5/5) Prime Rib - Incredible. I don't usually order prime rib, but this one blew me away. Perfectly cooked medium rare, incredibly tender, and the sauces were outstanding. (5/5) Hukilau Mixed Grill - A must-try if you want to sample multiple types of fish. Everything was cooked beautifully, and the sauce tied it all together perfectly. (5/5) Original Hawaiian Chocolate Factory Dessert - Ordered this for the birthday candle (note: it takes about 20 minutes, so order early). Gooey, rich chocolate inside and absolutely delicious. (5/5) Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Yes, it's pricey, but the upscale dining experience is well worth it when visiting Kauai.

This place is a 4.5 stars. Came here for dinner and the service was amazing. I had the wailua Bay Breeze cocktail and it was very refreshing. Definitely recommend. I ordered the Wally salad and ahi nachos poke and both were very good. My husband ordered the meatloaf and gazpacho and he loved it. Would definitely come back again.

Our favorite meal on our Kauai trip! I made same day reservations for an early dinner at 5:30 for Saturday evening when I realized how close this restaurant was to our resort. We arrived promptly at 5:30 pm, but it took maybe 10 minutes for our table to be ready. No problem, as it the perfect time to take photos outside on the beautiful green grounds outside with the golden hour lighting. The seating is open with views of grounds. You can see the ocean in the distance as well. We started off with drinks. I stuck with the virgin lava flow ($8), which I personally found way too sweet. I didn't drink much of this. My friend had the loco lemonade ($15), which he really enjoyed. However, he didn't taste any tequila in it, so either the drink was really well made or they poured less tequila. For food, we started off with the complimentary focaccia, which was served with a vinaigrette on the side. This was delicious and tasted like pizza bread. We liked it so much we got a second order! My friend got the chicken and mushrooms entree ($35), which he really enjoyed. It's served with a generous portion of mashed potatoes and gravy as well. Any entree comes with your choice of soup or salad, so he got one of the salads. Such good value for the price! My main was mushroom meatloaf ($35), which I absolutely loved. I'm a huge fan of meatloaf in general and the one here was SO good. The gravy it came with delicious as well, and they nice enough to give me a second serving of gravy when I ran out halfway through. Portions for the meatloaf were on the larger side and I ended up taking some leftovers head. Luckily it heated up well in our room microwave and tasted just as good the next day. For my side, I paid an extra $4 to upgrade to the lobster bisque, which I HIGHLY recommend. It was the perfect amount of creamy and tasted perfect. We were too stuffed for dessert, as much as I wanted to order something, but our server was super sweet and gave us some complimentary dark chocolate peanut butter truffles as a birthday treat. The service was very slow initially while ordering and getting drinks, but picked up after some tables left. Would highly recommend eating at Hukilau Lanai at least once while you're visiting Kauai!

The views here are definitely the highlight -- if you're lucky enough to get a seat facing the garden at sunset, it's a beautiful setting. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the scenery. The calamari tasted far from fresh and could've used a lot more seasoning. We tried two different soups, and both had that unmistakable "straight out of the can" flavor. The fish was fine -- seemed fresh enough -- but again, bland and forgettable. Honestly, the best thing we had all night was the side Caesar salad. Not sure what all the glowing reviews are about, but this one was a miss for us. Great views, disappointing food.

I wanted to love this place as we were recommended a few times by multiple people but I just didn't. Our food was average. The staff was super friendly and accommodating so five stars for them! The place itself had a nice touch to it but we were sat in the outside area that was covered with a tent type thing and the wind was blowing hard and cold so it was a bit unpleasant. We ordered the filet mignon and it was cooked more than we would have liked but it was still good. Everything was good just not great especially not for the price. I would have spent that elsewhere but I had high hopes. I might be back to try something else in the future to give them another try.

Been here several times over the years-really miss their tasting menu/pre fixe dinner they had in the past. Good service and convenient location. This most recent time, my mother in law's pork was a little undercooked-which they fixed, but otherwise the mini salads included with entrees were a great touch. Our family enjoyed the prime rib, chicken and mushrooms, and seared ahi entrees. Recommend making reservations ahead of time. Otherwise solid elevated diner option.

First visit and we enjoyed it! Tried four of the five fish dishes--each flavorful, with the mac nut-crusted opah as the clear winner (light, flaky, and delicious). The mixed grill offered a nice variety, too. Live band added great energy, though it made conversation tricky. Service started strong but slowed as the night went on. Bread was tasty but served cold, and the fish chowder, while generous with fish, wasn't a reorder for me. Overall, tasty seafood and a fun atmosphere--worth a visit if you're in the area.

Food are amazing!! They offer different kinds of fishes every night and all of them are delicious! We especially like the bbq ribs appetizer- very tender and the pickle watermelon is so good!!! Their price are very reasonable considering everything is pretty expensive in Kauai! All entrees come with soup or salad, which is a nice touch!

On a Friday night, they got us in within 15 min without a reservation. Our server was so awesome! Joshua thank you so much for being patient with 4 women! From the drinks, to the soup, to the wonderful fish entrees we had a wonderful dinner and service. It was a lovely night - Thank you!

Do they have a burger option for post-Keiki aged kids? Yes I reviewed the menu ahead, snarky d-heads like William are not helpful. Often times restaurants have changing menu items and off menu items.

If you review the on-line menu, as I did, for one of my favorite, absolutely awesome restaurant, you will see no hamburger option. There is a meatloaf option on the Keiki menu.

    Is there a kid's menu?

    I'm pretty sure there is

Is the tasting menu at 5:00 pm still available? Thanks for answering...

It was when I was there last summer

Do you still do the tasting menu? I don't see it on the website.

Thank you for your question. The tasting menu is currently on hold.

Do you have to have a reservation for the 5-545 pm tasting menu? If you come early and get a spot within the time frame can you still order from the tasting menu or is that not allowed?

You don't need a reservation specifically for the tasting menu, but you'll definitely need a reservation because they're almost always booked up several weeks in advance. You can also try to just go on in without a reservation and sometimes they'll…

    Can you order and takeout?

    I believe so.

Do I need a reservation if I'm coming for happy hour?

I don't think so but I highly recommend it. The island is very crowded right now with a lot of visitors and limited places to eat after Covid. And it's very popular.

We will be visiting June '21. Are they still offering the Food & Wine Tasting?

Yes but only on sundays and they reserve a week or two out. I would reserve now if your going to be here on a sunday

    Is there a dress code?

Kauai casual! Shorts, flip flops and shirt! No swimwear.

Do they still have the tasting menu before 6PM for a good price?

Yes they do! At least, as of late September this year, they did!

I've been dying to try their Big Island location on past trips but never made it happen. Since they don't take reservations, I was fully expecting a long wait arriving around 12:30 PM on a Friday, but we were pleasantly surprised to be seated right away. While most people sat in the covered patio area, we opted to sit right outside with our feet in the sand, because why not?! The beach view is unbelievable, and the breeze kept us perfectly comfortable without feeling too hot. Hubs and I were both craving fish, so I ordered the fish tacos and he got the fish and chips. Everything was so good! Honestly some of the best battered fish I've had in a really long time. Add in a cocktail to kick off the vacation, and it made for the ultimate welcome lunch to Kauaʻi. For drinks, I ordered a green-tini and my mom got a virgin lava lava flow. I actually preferred her drink over mine. The green-tini had a nice kick to it. Can definitely taste the jalapeño. The virgin lava lava flow was sweet and creamy. Perfect way to end the night! The restaurant and bar definitely get crowded, but there's plenty of space inside and outside. When we pulled up around 7pm, there was just 1 other party that was there and they were seated outside. There was live music and we asked to be seated right in front of him. Boy, that was a big mistake as the speaker was right there and it was very difficult for me and my wife to carry any kind of conversation. That was mostly my fault and I should have asked to be seated a few tables back. But it was fine as the musician was great the whole night with his soothing voice and relaxing tunes. There were only 2 servers at the time so getting my drink refilled was a little slow. We ordered the fried enoki mushrooms. Not sure where they were going with this dish as enoki mushrooms don't really have any taste to them. Plus it's a little stringy. I thought it was a little oily. Not sure if the oil was hot enough when they fried this, but it was a bit greasy and since it didn't have any taste to it, the tartar sauce pretty much carried the dish. My ribeye, however, was great. It was cooked medium-rare with a lot of mashed potatoes. The peppercorn cream sauce was a nice touch and didn't overshadow the meat. The one thing I would suggest is that the ribeye was on the thin side, so it didn't get that char crispiness that you would be able to get on a thicker steak. Since I asked for it to be medium rare, getting the desired texture would not be possible. I would have liked to be thicker as the bite would be more substantial. I normally associate a thin cut to a cheap or budget steak. Flavor-wise and temp, it was perfect. There was so much mashed potatoes that I ended up leaving half of it on the plate. It's a garlic mash and really tasty. The Osso Buco was tender, fall off the bone. I did, however, find it to be a little too salty though. You also get a lot of Risotto. They do not skimp on portions here. Great find.

Things we Loved: 1. The entrees: We had tandoori shrimp and lamb vindaloo. Both were spiced just right and the staff delivered on our request for spice level (me mild, hubs medium). Both the shrimp and the lamb were fresh and tender. 2. The rice: We ordered the lemon rice. It was literally the best rice dish I've ever had anywhere. I can't even explain how exotic and amazing it was. 3. The service: This is a small family run place and you can tell how much care they put into not only the food but the service too. Things we didn't love: 1. The naan bread was crispy vs chewy. It's a personal preference but it still had good flavor. 2. The raita was watery so didn't serve well as a dip for the bread as it just ran off. Both of these things were very minor to us because the things we loved we really loved a lot. In terms of prices, they were a bit steep. But everything was very fresh AND the portions were very generous - enough to have a 2nd dinner from the leftovers the next evening. We loved this place and are already going back with some friends this weekend.

Visited this place during my visit to the island. We went there for dinner and ordered lemon rice,…read moreraita, kadahi chicken, dal makhni, cashew paneer, garlic naan, kulfi, and gulab jamun. Lemon rice was good. Raita was just water with a hint of curd. All the entrees were super spicy even though we ordered medium. They mentioned their medium means on the spicier side, but this was just too much. I honestly wonder who came up with that spice scale. Just call it what it is. Naan was good. Kulfi was okay. Gulab jamun tasted like the boxed kind, microwaved and handed to us. Service was fine, but overall the place was a disappointment. And it is RIDICULOUSLY EXPENSIVE for this food.

A waiter came around and then offered to take our order. Then when time went, another girl asked if someone already came by and helped us. We ordered a few things off the menu it being our first time back after two years. This time, everything was delicious! From the appetizers, to the salad, to our entrees. They have really came a long way! The wasabi Caesar dressing, delicious! Bao bun, soft and tasty! The scallop appetizers, sauted in bacon and bacon fat... oh my goodness! Our filet mignon cooked to perfection! The poached lobster and squid ink noodles with lobster bisque.. my favorite! Our waitress, which she didnt even tell us her name, did a mediocre job. We really tipped her more than she deserved, but I hope the bartender got a good portion of that tip we left. Thank you Stephanie, our bartender! All the kudos to you for making us feel welcomed, and really making our experience all the more better! It's those little things that we as customers look for... service, and attentiveness.. and of course great food! Shout out to the preps, and chefs! Delicious! Hands down!
