As a local I really really wanna love this place but it's been a huge let down. Food cold. Orders wrong. Ice cream super soft or melted. Staff are young girls that don't have a lot of experience or care about taking care of customers, just the boys that come in to eat and visit with them. It'll be a while before I give it a try again. But they have enough summer traffic to keep them afloat I hope! read more

I was so disappointed today. They directed us to a dirty table. It took 20 minutes to clear and no menus. We changed tables to an almost clean table. It took another 10 minutes to clean that one. They asked is if we were ready to order, we hadnt even got a menu yet. We finally got a menu and ordered our lunch and a hamburger pattor our furry girl. It took 45 minutes to get our food. Still no patty. Another 45 minutes with 2 requests from 2 different gals. Finally got patty and asked for to go boxes 3 times in another 20 minutes. Overheard plenty of gabbing with another customer. Other people were also upset and voiced their unhappiness about the wait. Oh, free meal for them then. We were given our bill to sign before we even got the patty. Everyone else around us had the same delays. We overheard that the cook was having a bad day. It's a shame because the food was excellent. We have stopped there many times before with longer than typical waits but never this bad. I know that everyone has bad days but that had nothing to do with the a service issues. We were passing through town and I finally got to give Hula's a try and I'm glad that we decided to stop! This is a great little place in the Central Valley that offers a ton of different burgers, soups, salads, frosties, milkshakes, and for those breakfast lovers, they serve breakfast all day! It has a great out door patio that is super dog friendly! They even bring you a bowl of water for your furry friend without even asking, that is cool. While we were there I ordered the Bacon BBQ Burger with Garlic Fries. The BBQ came out fast and was eye filling. The burger itself was perfectly cooked and it had just the right amount of BBQ sauce on it, the bacon was crisp, and the lettuce and tomato fresh. The burger had a great balance of everything in every bite, just what you want in a burger! The fries out did themselves, they were REAL garlic fries! Crisp french fries actually hand tossed in fresh garlic and olive oil, like the kind you get from Gordon Biersh, yup, here at Hula's in the Central Valley, they even give you a fork to eat them with. All in all if your "jonesing" for a burger and are in the Central Valley area, Hula's is definitely worth the stop if your close by! I'm sure we'll be back if we are in the area. read more

Great burger and fries. Excellent service. Quick service. Was really good. Good shakes.

Temperatures outside were 95°F and temperature in restaurant was a warm 80°F. Probably because they have western exposure, an open drive-though window, open cooking area, and the bathroom is out back so customers are going back and forth opening the door to the outside. Every time someone goes outside in either door there is a blast of hot air. Service was attentive and food was good. Long wait for food which is not because they were busy inside but trying to also service the drive-through window orders. Didn't get my order right the first time so I was a bit behind the rest of my group. Free WiFi but no outlets for power. Good milkshakes. You can ask for a free little swirl of soft ice cream with a meal. read more

The Escalon Burger never disappoints! It's amazing. The garlic fries remind me of ball park fries! We also get breakfast for dinner from time to time, we appreciate that they serve breakfast all hours! Omelets & breakfast potatoes are really good. My only suggestion is for more consistency with the milkshakes- When they're made well, it might be the best milkshake you'll ever taste! We have ended up with a couple of super watery ones though. (Just blended a little too much maybe, I think it depends on who makes it.) I still drank mine though, it was just more like strawberry milk than a shake. lol. I'm sure they'd remake it if we asked. Absolutely awesome food and terrific service! The burgers were to die for. Every type of burger you could ever want. The smallest burger is 1/3 pound. Amazing offerings and service! Indoor and outdoor seating. Indoors has sports on the tube and a cozy hometown feel inside. Outdoors are no frills patio seating. A rare hidden gem in the 209. Hula's delivers the goods. It's not just a burger spot, they have a mix of everything. I recommend the chicken fried steak burger, wow. The hula fries are pretty damn good, especially with the marmalade dip. The spot is nice because you can eat inside or outside. Wait staff is super friendly and attentive. Honestly, I found this place, just driving one night and happened to drive thru Escalon. If you want good eats, their menu is sure to have something you are in the mood for. Oh, their prices include the entree with either fries or a salad, then at the end...free ice cream. Bring your kids, they will love this place! read more

We literally stopped for a snack but once we got here and saw the menu there were way too many yummy options. we ended up ordering a side of chili cheese fries which is as big as the plate we got chicken tenders and there are 4 pieces to the order they are huge and delicious and the barbecue sauce that comes with them is excellent.we got fried sakina sticks and my husband got a hamburger with onion rings all of the portions are big for the price and the service was excellent as well we will definitely be back we have never stopped here and all the time service it my mom in Twain Harte but this will definitely be on our list every time now!!! read more

Awesome service, a big menu and food is always great, the fries are my favorite. Not frozen food either.

I ordered a sandwich on wheat. It was on white and had little to no bacon. Also I ordered it and when I got there, I had to wait 3-4 minutes to be attended to just to pick up my order. Not even a hello when I arrived. I thought the customer service was ok at best. Food was good, but it was a unpleasant experience overall. Edit: Honestly the employee who serviced me didn't give the impression she'd gladly remake it. I think she would have had the sandwich remade, but with bacon, may have said that'd be extra or something rude along those lines. I think the root of all this is a customer service issue. Maybe this one employee, but had she made sure my order was clear to be on wheat, and the sandwich had a sufficient amount of bacon, this wouldn't have been an issue. I don't like to feel that I have to go out of my way to get the sandwich I want. Look at Amazon, if you see any documentaries on their journey, you see that they placed a HUGE emphasis on customer service. Really can make or break a business. read more

My husband and I went to Hula's last night just to get out of the house as our AC has been out since last Thursday. We have a new puppy and this heat is really making him and us miserable. We went through the drive thru andwhen we got to the window, this beautiful, kind, compassionate angel was there with a beautiful smile and large cups of water for us. Then, because she was just this awesome, she gave us dog treats and a cup of whipped cream for our pup. I've been in a service industry my whole adult life and I can tell you, every company on the planet could tAke a page from this lovely woman's book. So the owner contacted me. It is a surcharge to cope with the rising costs of doing buisness in California. I toatally agree that liberals in California suck the life out of small buisness. As a consumer I fully expect to be made aware of the surcharge before I order my meal. Try printing it on your menus, or a big sign or train the staff to advise every single customer prior to ordering. DO IT IN A WAY THAT IS OBVIOUSE. dont hide it or disguise it as a tax on my recipe. terrible service, i grew up in escalon always hearing how amazing hulas is but i have to say horrible service there. i had to ask multiple times; i even went up in the kitchen just to get my bill and it wasn't even busy. make sure to check the sauce's on the table our ketchup was expired and the lady didn't bother to get a new one for us. i'm so disappointed in the way i was served. i used to love this place but these past couple times i've gone the service has been bad. read more

Finally stopped here after years of only living about 25 mins away in Manteca and was not disappointed! We were promptly greeted and seated when we walked in. I got a Bacon Cheeseburger and my fiancé got the Knockout Burger. We both got garlic fries with those burgers. Best burgers we've had in a long time and definitely the best around this area! The burgers are thick and juicy, not at all over cooked like some places. Also, we no longer have to go all the way to the Oakland coliseum for delicious garlic fries, just head to Escalon! I believe our servers name was NORELY, she was very nice and gave us the proper time to decide since we'd never been there. That's huge for me, I usually will not return somewhere if my server is pushy or rude. They also are in a great location right along Hwy 120, you can't miss it! Hulas has definitely earned 2 new customers here! read more
