Got food from Pizza Wheel yesterday which was during the Conference Championship game between the Eagles and the Commanders 1/26/25. Asked for a pizza and wings. Typical game day meal right. Everyone orders this. Most establishments prepare and double, maybe triple, maybe even quadruple up on their stock order in anticipation that every household within a 5 mile radius will be calling in for these items. But not Pizza Wheel. Out of wings and chicken fingers by 4:00PM. Really?? Maybe every household in 50 mile radius called Pizza Wheel first thing in the morning and wiped out the whole supply?? Anyway, we wound up with a pizza, onion rings and a cutlet. Yes, one cutlet. Pizza was forgettable, onion rings were good but the cutlet, I could have ordered a bunch of those had I known how tasty it was going to be. Very crispy and the buffalo sauce was on the side which was nice because it kept the cutlet crispy. However, crispy cutlet or not, it could not save my review because another negative was we tried to do delivery so as not to miss any part of the game but 9.00 delivery fee + 9.00 driver tip??? I had a feeling Pizza Wheel would be amazing considering it's under the same ownership as West Ave Grille. I didn't expect to love it as much as I did. I met up with a friend for dinner (parking was slim on this particular evening so I parked in a paid lot). We were seated immediately upon arrival. Ample seating with big booths! We lucked out with all large pizzas being 50% off!!! The price of a large pie was the same price as a personal so I had pizza for dayyyys! My Trifekta pizza hit each and every mark. Crispy crust, delicious pesto and vodka sauces and a great flop. It was perfect and I've never had anything like it. Very artsy, very classy, very demure with the swirl design. Zucchini fries were fantastic, too. They were chunky! I'm so used to zucchini fries being thinner. The chili aioli sauce paired very nicely with them. This place is fully edible and clean, but there's so much excellent food in the area that it makes no sense to eat here. The pizza sauce is very sugary, all the dishes are very weak on flavor, nothing particularly exciting. This is like the Applebees take on Pizza. read more

Recently discovered this place! Food is good, BYOB is obviously a plus, and the staff is very friendly. Got a plain and margarita pizza, chicken parm, burrata salad and chicken milanese with burrata (so good) and everything was great. I love this place. I think the pizza is among the best in the area that I've tried and the cheesesteak is really good. Really, all the food I've tried has been great. There are killer specials on Monday (1/2 off pizza) and Wednesday ($10 cheesesteak) that are great times to try out the food if you are curious. Plus there are often all kinds of specials happening around sports events and other occasions, including limited run food items. I like the regular experimentation. The pizza, especially, is best enjoyed in the restaurant as food is brought to your table as it is ready. There are some aspects to the sit down experience that you may find a little unexpected. If you ask for spices like salt, or red pepper flakes, they may be provided on a small plate and not in a shaker. As mentioned, food is delivered as it becomes ready so in group outings, you should expect that individuals will get their food at varying times. But, this does mean it's always as fresh as possible and never cold. When they opened, you would get this amazing bread made from the same dough as the pizza. I heard it might still be available upon request, but it's no longer automatically provided. If you can get it, it's great with olive oil or butter. The ambiance is overall comfortable and friendly. I've found service to be fine. Servers have been quick to take orders and bring out food and I haven't encountered order mistakes. Overall, I think Pizza Wheel is a very good pizza/sandwich place with owners who are constantly innovating and iterating and are very receptive to constructive feedback. There's a ton of potential here, but there are some fundamental issues that need to be worked out. THE GOOD: - Pizza was excellent - Sandwiches were huge and served on really nice seeded rolls. - It's a nice space and the waitress was great. THE MERELY OK - The Sweet N' Spicy sandwich-- breaded chicken cutlets with long hots and hot honey-- was a great concept but could have used some tweaks. It really needed a melted cheese component and unfortunately the long hots were not hot at all (although that's very difficult to predict, so not their fault). THE BAD - A side of broccoli rabe was very large but very bad. It was swimming in oil and way, way, way too salty. THE "THIS JUST DOES NOT WORK AT ALL" - The menu says "The items on our menu are meant to be shared. Our kitchen is free-flowing and dishes will come out as they are ready." I've seen this at tapas places. There it makes sense. But this is not a tapas place. They have lots of entrees and sandwiches that are not, in fact, meant to be shared. In practice, this just means that people get served entirely at random and no effort is made to present a coherent meal. My sandwich came out first. It got cold. Then a few minutes later pizzas came out. Then three rolls came out (there were six of us). Then a few minutes later a cold appetizer came out. Then my father's side of rigatoni came out. Then some more sandwiches came out. Then, once everyone had finished, my father's entree came out. Since everyone was done, he had it boxed up. It was really absurd. Guys, your food is pretty good, but you need to fix this. When people go to a restaurant they expect courses to come out together. Appetizers need to come out before mains. Sides need to come with entrees, not 15 minutes before them. I'm sure that's difficult to do, but the solution cannot be "We expect you to share, so we're not even going to try." I'd definitely try this again for takeout and I'd go back if they fix the service. read more

Excellent! Had the don and the sweet and spicy. Along with a Caesar. Sandwiches and salad were huge. Fed my wife and I and our two kids. Everything was delicious starting with the Caesar with homemade dressing. Cheesesteak is definitely one of the best around (couldn't snap pic, kids ate it to fast). Sweet and spicy also delicious. Truthfully, I hesitated reviewing Pizza Wheel simply b/c I want to keep the place all to myself!!! This is the gem that I've been looking for, for classic pizzas and Italian food in PA, having grown up as a Jersey girl. Every single thing I tried at Pizza Wheel impressed. Nothing was mediocre. From the flavors, to the textures, to the quality of how the food was cooked, they nailed it all. I went with my sister and we split a bunch of food including a large pie (half margarita, half chicken parm), rigatoni allá vodka, and the OG sandwich. I LOVE a good margarita pizza and their margarita had to be one of my favorites that I've tried, including comparisons to Jersey and New York. I think what really did it for me, was the perfectly cooked dough. It wasn't undercooked and also wasn't burnt charcoal (which a lot of PA pizza places unfortunately give). I adored the perfect crunch without the taste of charcoal. The tomato sauce tasted so authentic and delicious. I was beyond impressed! Only critique was that they could have been a tad more generous with the cheese, but the sauce was just so good that I really didn't mind that all too much. We went for lunch on a Monday and they offer half off large pizzas, so it was cheaper to get a large pie than a small, and our server made us aware of that which was very nice of her to do. Rigatoni allá vodka isn't actually on the menu, but penne vodka is. We requested this as a custom dish and they made it for us no problem! The pasta tasted freshly prepared and the vodka sauce was so so tasty. We left no rigatoni behind! The OG sandwich came on a delicious, seeded roll. Not too hard, not too soft or soggy (win!) Inside the sandwich was chicken cutlet, fresh mozzarella, broccoli rabe, roasted red peppers and homemade garlic aioli. We thought the garlic aioli really brought the entire sandwich together and loved the flavor of it. So I recommend not substituting it! Our server was fabulous ; she checked on us a bunch. We even were given 2 complimentary slices of a pie that the chef was experimenting with, and those were scrumptious as well! This place is going into my regular rotation and I'm so excited to try much more off their menu. Can't recommend this place enough! (Tip- sometimes there's outdoor seating which we took advantage of and I think if you want to sit outside you just have to ask and they'll set up tables!) read more

I tried to be nice. I tried contacting them before I posted this mess. The West Avenue Grill is a really good restaurant but they are mailing it in in this pizza venture. I received a white pie that was burnt on top- too hot an oven - and undercooked- Ricotta cheese still wet and not cooked. I asked for extra garlic and received what looked like lumps of misplaced "not spread evenly" garlic clumps. We tried to eat two slices and threw the rest out. If I had known I would have taken it back BUT I did take photos-please see for yourself if I'm exaggerating. I contacted them via their email which says "we respond back within 48 hours" and waited. Two weeks later I emailed again and got this response- "Thank you for your submission, we always welcome any type of feedback. I'm sorry to hear that your experience was less than satisfactory to your expectations. As part of our white pie, we do use in addition to the garlic oil, a homemade roasted garlic puree that is spread as the base to melt into the pizza and adds an extra subtle garlic flavor that's not overpowering like using raw or garlic powder we would be, as most places do. Asking for "extra garlic" on your pie would incorporate both of our garlic additions so if the consistency of the puree was too much for you, I do apologize for that. All ricotta on pies is put on with the rest of the cheese prior to baking so in relation to your feedback on that, I will check in with my kitchen staff to follow up that they are executing that correctly." They blew me off for two weeks- no explanation and I couldn't eat their product. Sorry- if this is how they are going to run this new restaurant- it will fail just like the previous pizza restaurant in the same location. The meal began with an utterly exciting, giant ball of baked pizza dough with a small amount of olive oil for dipping it. I am unable not to eat all of it aside from what bits others at the table can grab. Sorry. We read the menu and the sandwich descriptions sounded delicious but we didn't try them yet because we went there for pizza and...have not been back. Kudos for trying hard and apparently caring but honestly, the crust was far, too wide, the cheese just basic stuff and not a lot of it, and the sauce nearly absent. What sauce was present was very watery and thin. If it was listed as fresh bread with some light flavorings on top, then: excellent. But as a pizza? Sorry, Carlo. Not even close. After that ball of dough up front, we just didn't need three times more dough like that. We intend to return to try the sandwiches at some point but the pizza was such a disappointment that the restaurant does not pop to the fore of choices. read more

Really really wanted to like this place more but it's truly just average at best. I've ordered about 4 times now and waited to write a review. There's some serious consistency issues and this past Sunday I had maybe one of the worst hoagies in a long time with the Verdura. The eggplant was too greasy and had no flavor. The hoagie was put together so sloppily with poor balance of ingredients. Maybe in other cities you can get away with that but Philly's sandwich scene is just too good to spend $15 on a hoagie put together like this with a few soggy pieces of eggplant. Mister Rick's is a much better option for hoagies. The pizza here is solid but not spectacular. I did enjoy the Trifekta but the pizza in general here is a little too doughy and crust heavy for me. It feels like the crust takes up half the pizza here. The flavor is better than with the sandwiches though. Overall, after trying it out a few times I'm disappointed. Will likely come back here every few months now and again for pizza but don't think I will be making a habit of ordering from the menu as the sandwiches and sides were disappointing read more

Great addition to Jenkintown! We loved each meal we got. My fiancé has celiac, so I always look for Italian places with a good GF selection, which this place has. I am what some would say a gnocchi connoisseur, and I approve this gnocchi. Specifically, the sauce tastes familiar (not sure how to explain it) and the pasta itself is Al dente. I've been following this spot on IG and finally had a chance to give it a try. Todays special was $10 cheesesteaks. I ordered mine with fried onions. To start, this steak was not seasoned at all. No flavor coming from the fried onions because they were scarce. Not sure what kinda cheese they use, that too was lacking. Roll was seeded which was a plus but soft like an Amoroso. We live nearby and have been to this restaurant multiple times. Food, service, and portion size were really good around the time they first opened. However, all of that has significantly worsened. This place doesn't appear to be well managed as one would think ownership would make some glaring changes considering the fact that nobody goes here anymore. I mean, the last few times we've eaten at Pizza Wheel (during prime dinner hours) the restaurant was dead. Even asked the waiter why there were so few customers and he said that it's always like that. And it's pretty obvious why. The prices compared to what you get are insane. Wife and I ordered a chopped salad and had the "chicken cutlet" added. When the salads came out they were the size of a side salad at most restaurants and had, maybe, a half chicken cutlet on top that had been pounded down pancake flat. Guess how much these two "entree" salads were? $46.00! And they weren't even that good. The lettuce had been chopped so finely it was slimy and almost liquified. So the food is an absolute ripoff, there's their first issue. Second, the service is tremendously slow. As usual, we were one of two families in the restaurant (again, prime dinner hours on a Saturday night) and it took forever to get service. While we were sitting there a group of two guys had been waiting at a table and got up and left because nobody had been over to take their order. Lastly, the ambience is about as boring as could be. Pretty large, open restaurant, but the decor does not fit a pizzeria at all. It's just very generic, not cozy and very drab for a restaurant located on a Main Street in downtown Jenkintown. Again, for owners that have another restaurant on the other side of 611 not to get the hints why Pizza Wheel does very little business, I question their understanding of how to run a business effectively. I suspect this place is struggling and won't be around much longer. And that's too bad because if there's one plus the pizza is pretty good.
