    Little crow
    Shu S.

I was walking one evening at a school park and found an injured fledgling crow on the grass. The little guy could barely move and couldn't fly, and looked to be very hurt. I called HAS, but they were closed so I called the non-emergency police line, and they were able to connect me to Mr. Ramirez. Despite being off hours, he still showed up and was very kind and was able to take the little fledgling back to the center the next day. I received a very nice update today that the little guy is going to make it. Turned out he was extremely dehydrated and quite down. Thank you Mr. Ramirez and HAS for your great work and empathy.

Thanks for helping the poor little guy.

Thank you Officer Ramirez for your kindness and empathy towards the poor stray cat with the severe leg injury. You made it easy to find the little guy some help.

She…read moreworks with most of the other local shelters/rescues in the area to save small dogs of all ages and conditions....as she has space available. I have known Odessa for years and have so much respect for her incredible personal commitment to dog rescue. Most of the dogs 'roam' freely in her house, learning to get along with other dogs and with people. Puppies (and moms) stay in the puppy palace (a charmingly converted and furnished garage space). Rescuing and adopting dogs is very hard and very expensive work, since many dogs who were neglected or abused require a lot of love, medical care, and training. Please take any 'negative' reviews with a big grain of salt. All of us who have to deal with the public understand how unreasonable and uncharitable some people can be. This is a truly extraordinary woman who makes great sacrifices to rescue and place dogs in the best possible homes. It's an uphill battle with so many people allowing their dogs to breed and dumping them on rescue. And with some adopters/lookers who can be disrespectful of the process around placing dogs. Very few of us could do this work day in and day out with no reward other than seeing dogs go to the right guardians. Thank you to everyone who supports and adopts from rescue, saves lives, and appreciates those doing the really hard work. And please consider fostering a little dog if you can. It's a rewarding experience being part of the pipeline to forever homes.

I filled out the new client form on the website and got an email reply from Danielle the receptionist the next day offering an appointment Monday of the next week! That's less than a week between contact and appointment. The appointments have a one hour arrival window which I'd say it's pretty great! (I've had house maintenance appointments that were four hour long arrival windows...) The next day I got another email for the appointment confirmation. You have the option of clicking on a link, emailing, calling or texting to confirm the appointment. It's all very clear and easy and I love how there are so many options. The actual visit went well. Cats do what they want and will let you know through physical means if they are upset. Major kudos and thanks to Dr. Murray for being so patient and kind even when I cannot say the same about my cats. Dr. Murray is full of great information! While my cats are overweight she was very polite communicating the need for them to slim down for health reasons and how to do it. No starvation diets. I didn't feel shamed for letting them get overweight. Dr. Murray listened. As a pet guardian you know your pets best and how they will react to strangers and vets. She had many suggestions on lifestyle changes that could be done to improve my pets' well being including the Seresto collars need to be changed every 5 months vs 8 months because the fleas in this area are robust! Price wise I think it's well worth the money! For the two cats to get their rabies vaccines, exam, one of the cats to get a cortisone shot it came out to about $600. I'd gladly pay that to avoid the stress of stuffing a cat in a carrier, driving to the vet, waiting who knows how long, and the aftermath of coming home. (For reference at a vet in Suisun I paid over $400 and it took two trips for new dog vaccines and an exam.) Dr. Murray really made the vet process so much smoother and less stressful. I'm very glad to have found her and to now be in her client list.

Dr. Murray helped us manage our dog's pain over the course of two years until it came time to say goodbye, which unfortunately was yesterday. My husband and I struggled making this decision, as our dog was declining but still eating and showing signs of affection. Dr. Murray was so kind and compassionate and reassured us we were giving our dog the best gift, which was to end her life humanly. The entire process was very calm and peaceful. As someone who has never had to do this before, I had no idea what to expect and was expecting the worst. Although it was incredibly hard to say goodbye to our beloved dog, I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I feel very much at peace with our decision. Dr. Murray is truly an incredible person and you can tell she has a deep love for all animals.

When I doubled back months after adoption with the female volunteer about PJ's awful demeanor, she commented that he has anger issues towards women and had to cut him off herself months prior. We did not receive any medical records for our cats including any microchip information. We were never told that one of our cats was extremely sick with respiratory issues when Fuzzy Butt Rescue first obtained them (I found this out 1.5 yrs into ownership after issues had already arose). We were never told that male, neutered cats are prone to urinary tract infections or we would have adopted female cats; I am a solo mom with 100% of everything for my child so my plate is full as is. We were never told that a key piece of healthy lifestyle for male, neutered cats in preventing UTIs is room to run around before my 10-yo son and I brought them home to our 700 sq ft condo. When confronted with health issues with our pets, PJ refused to make any effort to help us get them care. He was insulting and called me "cheap" for not being willing to spend thousands of dollars on testing despite that I took our cat to 2 emergency clinic visits after working hours the first of which was around midnight before a big job I had booked for the next day. He said he would take them back vs actually helping us to resolve the issue. Our cat's UTI was resolved with a $10 homeopathic product on Amazon that has over 10K reviews and a 4.4 star rating. He called that product "a hoax" but it worked in ONE day once I had time to stay home with the cat and treat him. PJ insulted me for even thinking of trying the homeopathic product vs agreeing to thousands of dollars of testing as a first resort. This guy is the absolute worst. If you want a pleasant and professional pet adoption process, go somewhere that has built a documented reputation in that vein which provides the necessary medical history on adoption (I wasn't aware there was any or I would have asked!). It's March 2023 and I'm looking at our cat's 9 page vet record now in after we got them in Feb 2021 and am shaking my head. This cat has major health problems. I had 2 cats as a child for almost 20 yrs with none of these issues. My son was crying in his sleep last night with a nightmare about losing our cat. Screw you and your judgment and negligence, PJ.

We wandered in and tried to get a kitten here. After a few days I asked when we could come pick up the cat. Ashley Ascencio and PJ McKovsky responded with rude/angry/mansplaining/outright mean emails, saying we couldn't have the cat because we'd let him go outside. Could do without the cat shaming lecture, it's not an effective way to educate people. Nasty email: "If you're next step is to go buy an animal instead of self reflecting then that speaks highly of you. We feel even more solid in our decision. Please explain to your child you do not value the lives and well being of your animals and I think he'll understand our decision too." Bad experience at this place, Avoid unless you want to deal with mean people. I also agree that they are withholding the medical history of the cats. My husband thought the cat seemed sick. I thought he was just bored and depressed in the cage, but I saw later on the facebook page that this bunch of cats all had extensive medical issues. No one informed me of that at all when we filled out the paperwork on him.
