Troy did a fabulous job. He quoted a price over the phone and promised there would be no hidden fees. He is very educated on wildlife behavior he shared a lot of his knowledge with me. Troy explained the habits of Raccoons and other species of wildlife in my area. Once he examined our attic he found more than a raccoon was living there. We also had an area of bats. I knew we had at least one raccoon because we saw him or her coming and going and my husband could her sounds of paws pattering in the attic over our bedroom. I am so glad I took my time to thoroughly research how to solve the problem of raccoons in our attic. As soon as I began making phone calls to trappers...and there are many companies that do this, I learned that any and all trapping methods would lead to ending the life of the animal. I found this very disturbing. They don't tell you why but I now know the reason for this. Maryland regulations require that rabies-vector species be euthanized when they are live-trapped. The only exception is if the animal is released on the property from which it was trapped which would result in the animal returning to my attic unless the entry points are sealed up. It is against the law to relocate them. But it would be horrible (in my opinion) to seal up their points of entry without getting the animals out first. Besides being very cruel, it probably would not smell too good. I also now know Human rabies cases in the United States are EXTREMELY rare, with only 1 to 3 cases (at most) reported annually. Given these statistics it seemed safe to assume most of the wildlife around me does not pose a danger. We are rapidly taking over the wildlife's territory, so we see many more species than ever before. My house backs up to a park, so we frequently see deer, foxes, raccoons, possums, and coyotes. Troy also explained that seeing nocturnal animals in the daytime absolutely does not mean they are sick. Troy's humane method for getting rid of our rent free tenants in the attic was to put one way exit doors at the raccoon's point of exit. The raccoons must leave everyday to get food and water. So by installing the one way door, the animal can not get back in. If this was baby season, and you lock the mother raccoon out she would go crazy trying to get back in to her babies including rip our roof apart. Raccoons are very maternal and would do everything to get back in. However, if there are no babies, she will just go elsewhere. Troy explained they always have more than one home EXCEPT when there are babies. After inspection Troy but up screening so that there was only one way in and one way out for our raccoons. He came back exactly one week later and sealed up all the areas and repaired the roof. My husband noticed Troy does not cut any corners in doing his work. He is a true perfectionist. He also arrived exactly the time he said he would. It took him at least 4 hours both times. My husband asked if there was a way to clean out the latrine from the attic and to add more insulation at the same time as he knew we needed to add more insulation.Troy said he knows someone who does that and would come with him to do this. He told us what the guy charges. The price sounded very reasonable for that job. However, when Troy came back he came alone because the person who was going to do the cleaning and insulation could not come.Troy said he would do it. My husband was amazed at how hard Troy worked. Being in an industry where he sees competitors cut corners all the time, he was very impressed watching Troy work. When everything was done my husband expected to pay Troy for the extra work, but he would not charge for it. Troy's integrity and impeccable work ethic are a rare find in today's times. All is well that ends well... and without causing any harm to the animals which are all necessary for a healthy environment, our problem was solved. I cannot give Troy enough stars for the work he did on our home. We had a pretty significant opening in our gutters that was allowing animals to crawl into our soffit. When a raccoon got up there and burrowed her way into our attic, we called all over for help and Troy was by far the most reassuring and helpful. Honestly, customer service doesn't come better than this. Tyler knows what he is doing, and he cares not only about getting the job done, but doing it right. We had birds nesting in our bathroom exhaust vent last spring. In fact, they'd pecked through the flex tubing, and nested in our attic insulation. Tyler came out, and screened all of our vents to prevent future infestations. And while he wasn't able to remove the active nest since there were baby birds in it, he came back after they were gone, climbed into the attic, replaced the flex tubing, and screened the vent, at no additional cost. And the pricing is beyond fair. In fact, I nearly offered to pay him more when he returned to do the attic work. And the work is covered by warranty! As others have said, Tyler is very friendly and professional. I would hire him again without hesitation. Don't even think about hiring someone else if you have a Fuzzy Critter in your house you need removed. Hire Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution! I was extremely impressed and satisfied with the quality and price of Troy Wilson's (of Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution) humane animal removal services, as well as with Troy's professionalism and genuine concern for animal well-being. Unlike many other animal removal services in the DMV, Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution actually removes furry intruders in a humane manner and uses effective methods to ensure that they do not return. Beware of other companies which claim to "humanely" remove animals from your home using a live trap, only to have these animals euthanized upon their capture. I was horrified to learn about Virginia's archaic law, which requires any wild animals which are captured and transported from your property to be euthanized. Human Wildlife Conflict Resolution expertly avoids this trap (no pun intended) by installing a one-way exit door for the critters, and adding ammonia to encourage the animals to leave of their own accord. The company also returns repeatedly to ensure that there are no babies left behind, and if so, places the babies in an outdoor box where the mother can easily find and transport them. In addition, Humane Wildlife is just as affordable as its non-humane competitors and offers up to ten years' warranty on its work. I highly recommend and commend this excellent company! read more

Because I could see a "nest" of sticks and leaves under an eave on the roof of the house, I thought I had squirrels in residence in the attic. Troy came out later the same day I called. He got rid of the nest and checked the attic. The squirrels had not yet come into the house. He was prompt, knowledgeable, through and polite. Bats in your belfry? No problem for these pros! We called Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution about a scratching noise in the ceiling. Tyler came out THAT DAY. Climbed onto our attic armed with his trusty cell phone/flashlight, and in short order returned to report we had bats in our attic. Tyler when on to explain about babies, and mothers, and other bat-like things, and completely impressed us with his knowledge of wildlife without being pompous. Tyler was the consummate professional. He communicated prices and managed our expectations expertly. The price we were quoted - and paid - seemed to me, to be more than fair. Troy "Pickles" came out and put up the required netting, etc. I was expecting something that would make my house an abomination, but the installation was professional with minimal disruption. I contacted a number of companies and Troy was by far the best. Troy was responsive, quoted the best price, and mostly importantly was honest and transparent. Some of the other companies I contacted had some shady practices, such as conducting cursory inspections (missing obvious holes and entry points) while not guaranteeing fixed prices, acting like the house is on fire after the inspection and saying that they could only schedule the work in the next week if I accepted the quote on the spot with a 50% non refundable deposit, or hiding that the inspection isn't free and wanting to charge $375 for trapping upfront without even any estimate for repairing entry points and blaming me for not asking about the inspection fee and for making him have to put gas in his truck to come. We discovered bats had moved in to our soffit and we did not want to harm them(he was recommended by a bat non-profit) but did need to encourage them to move elsewhere. His system allows them to leave but not return. He also checked our entire home and roof for other points of entry. Based on my recent experience, I give this small company (just recently renamed Humane Wildlife Resolution) two thumbs up for their great service and for their regard and treatment of both the humans and the wildlife in question. They are the company of choice for folks like me who do want wildlife out of their attic but done in a way that doesn't harm the animals. I had been hearing loud scratching and squirrel noises coming from my attic; after facing the reality that animals were likely inside and not just tap dancing on the roof outside, I called local wildlife rehabbers for recommendations. They told me that most companies that claim to be humane will have to euthanize the animals; even if they trap and relocate - most relocated wildlife ends up not surviving. They said that this company uses a different approach that involves enticing the animals out via one way doors then sealing things up after that. Troy who is now just taking over the company (having been a part of it previously) returned my call the same day, and came to do an initial assessment the very next day (Sunday). That already lowered my anxiety just knowing the situation was on a path to resolution. The situation assessment, while done at no charge, is no minor task, as it entails moving a ladder every few feet to investigate for entry points, and my old two story house has a sharply sloping roof and a lot of roofline. Troy identified that my house lacked drip edge (a roofing related shortcoming he notes is common in this area, because it is often the way both animals and water get into the house.). It was where the drip edge should have been, that most of the several entry holes were located. So the recommended solution included first getting the squirrels to come out on their own through baited one way doors, installing drip edge all around, patching up all the several entry points animals had made along the roof-line in a way that would not be unsightly, and installing cages around vents, attic fans, etc on the roof itself. He also recommended getting other estimates for the work -- which I tried doing though had a hard time getting someone else to come out on the short timeline that I now wanted to have this situation resolved. At first the flat rate Troy quoted seemed a lot, but after seeing the amount of investigation, labor, and days of time in uncomfortable places this can involve, I will say that Troy worked really hard on what turned out to be a more complicated case, and that he earned what I paid and then some. The complication of this story was that my squirrels involved a mother and nearly grown juveniles. It took a combination of patience, extra work, time, understanding what was going on with the animals, and expertise to figure out the unfolding situation and how to resolve it. Troy was up to the task in all respects, and after a few days of extra steps, my house is now blessedly quiet and sealed up against further incident. I sensed this company genuinely cares for the well-being of their human clients and the wildlife involved, and that they will go the extra mile to work through complications and leave the situation the way it should be. I would use them again and would highly recommend them to others. read more

I am beyond impressed with this company and with Troy in particular. We woke up in the middle of the night to an animal clawing in our attic directly above our bedroom, and called Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution based on the recommendation of a friend tho works for the county. Troy was able to come out the same day. He communicated clearly about prices, timing, what to expect, etc., and explained the company's mission to remove animals in a natural way without killing them. When he came to the house, he spent at least 40 minutes inspecting our entire attic (no easy feat as we have an addition and to separate roofs - you have to army crawl in your belly to get to the second attic) as well as our entire roof, yard, house, etc. In the end, he found that the animal (a flying squirrel) had already gotten out on its own, and he patched the hole the animal created to get in. After all of that hard work and effort, he didn't even charge us because he did not have to perform the service with the one way door to remove the animal. He was kind, professional, and truly concerned about our home and whatever visitors we had the night before. Easily some of the best customer service I've ever experienced in any situation - especially for this type of service that comes out to your home. While you may pay the same or less for a pest removal service, they 1) probably won't be able to come same day, as we found out on our own; 2) have to kill any animals they remove from your home based on state law; and 3) may end up charging you separate fees that end up being more than HWCR's flat rate fee. (the other pest removal companies we called had separate fees for coming to the house, another fee if they had to use a ladder, another fee if they had to patch a hole, etc. etc. - it added up for sure). I've used several pest control companies over the years for mice, rats, squirrels and raccoons. I recently used Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution because another company was less than ambitious about helping me figure out what was stomping around in my home in the middle of the night. The other company felt it was mice, and set traps that appear untouched. That first company did not bother to get up on my roof. Humane Conflict got up on the roof, inside the attic and also down on the ground to figure out that I have a combination of very active raccoons and squirrels. They showed me where squirrels were gnawing on my lattice and noted raccoon waste on the roof. They also searched for any holes and crevices; didn't find any beyond the typical tiny holes typical to the foundations of old houses (I can fill these with foam sealant myself). Since it's almost impossible to eliminate squirrels in my tree-heavy neighborhood (and it's illegal to kill them), I decided to take a wait and see approach. Humane Wildlife charged me a very small fee for this visit. Very courteous, knowledgeable and helpful. Tip: the DC area earthquake may have opened up fissures and crevices that are allowing creatures to get into homes. read more

Unfortunately, I have had a change of heart. I called this company due to some attic rodent activity, spoke to a receptionist, and I did not hear back for around a week-and-a-half and only following a second phone call. I was told that my issue could not be helped. The man who called me back offered to come check things out and offer some guidance, but that offer never came to fruition. When I called back a third time to say, "Hi, I thought the problem was x, but it's y, can you help me now?" I didn't hear back even after a follow-up call. I appreciate how this company helped me in the past, and the fact that it claims to be humane, but I have not had the chance to experience the manifestation of services lately, and my troubles (mice) are not the type to wait on. It seems, from perusing the photos, that this company's niche is birds, bats, raccoons, and squirrels, so maybe that's why I never heard back. Perhaps if this is the case, or they are just really busy, the receptionists could be trained to explain what's going on and why I might not hear from them for a few days instead of telling me they'd call me back "shortly." read more

Urged us to do some relatively small things to close up the attic spaces (entire bill $435) and did the work and left That evening a circuit breaker tripped during a rain storm; next day I called to ask if there was possibly a wire or light that might have been disrupted in the attic or outside, and was told not. The circuit breaker issue recurred a few times; a few weeks later the workman returned unannounced and removed one of the remediation tools, a trap, but found nothing else. In the meantime, two metal strips they had installed earlier fell off the house. The problem continued and we called in an electrician. Today, an electrician found where one of the metal strips still on the house had been installed with a nail, through a wire, become water-damaged, and was arcing. Luckily, we had no house fire, just a wasted $435 spent plus the electrician's $100 bill. Again, nice enough folks, just not careful enough. I guess I'll use another company next time. read more

Troy came to give us the estimate, he took the time to do a thorough check of our attic, openings and roof. If you are the DMV, there is no reason to use any other company for help with a raccoon. Here, not only will you get a more fair price than other companies, but they treat the animals humanely. So glad I found this company. They took care of our raccoon problem the next day after calling them. I'm really disappointed in this company- even more so because of the excellent reviews on Yelp. My husband and I have a groundhog wreaking havoc under our barn, and were referred to Humane Wildlife Conflict Resolution by our pest control company. We've called several times over the past week and a half, and each time someone has taken our contact information and indicated that we would receive a call shortly to schedule a time for someone to come out. The first two times, we did not receive a call, but I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt due to the recommendation by a company we trust, and because of the great reviews here. I tried again yesterday, and got the same song and dance (give us your phone number and address and someone will get back to you); it's been almost 24 hours and still no call back. Now I'm back on Yelp looking for another company to give my business to since Humane Wildlife does not seem interested in adding us as a customer. I'll also be telling my pest control company that I suggest they not recommend this company in the future. read more

We had been hearing middle of the night wood chewing for a week and called HWCR and Tyler responded promptly and was able to schedule very next morning service. He was extremely professional and thorough, first checking our roof, attic, and below our home. He then quickly determined the location of the noise was most likely coming from our home addition where the attic didn't reach. He accessed this very difficult to reach area by temporarily removing one of our recessed lights and looking behind where there appeared to be evidence of wildlife. These guys were just amazing. We had heard scratching in our attic, and I saw a grey squirrel dart out of a hole in the wall, so we called Humane Wildlife Services to come check it out. In addition to the momma we saw, they found a litter of four baby squirrels and - within two hours - had safely and humanely convinced momma to move her whole brood to another nest. They were professional, courteous, knowledgable, and - most of all - incredibly kind to the animals. Kudos to them for amazing (and reasonably priced) work. I cannot recommend them enough. read more

First off let me start by saying, Ive never experienced customer service this horrible in my life! I was given LYNN WILLIAMS business card a while back if ever in need of their Wildlife Conflict service. Last night I found a snake in my sun room but was able to get rid of it, terrifyingly I reached out to them, they told me to call them in the morning if I seen another! Unfortunately,I've found two snakes that next morning and spoke to Lynn Williams the manager and at first she told me she'd send help on the way. Five minutes later her son Tyler calls with no idea of the situation, claiming I didn't speak with LYNN WILLIAMS ! They're communication was horrible just like their attitude, and they even lied and said they didn't speak to me 5 mins earlier ! They also lied about not covering snakes in their duty but they definitely advertise Snakes on their website! NEVER AGAIN WILL I ATTEMPT TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU!!!! read more
