They asked me what the issue was, took a few notes I suppose, and scheduled someone to come to my place in 30 minutes. The gentleman arrived on time and looked at the issue and took photos. Then he started acting sus. First, he didn't want me to lock the house when he walked in. I didn't get that. Then asked me how many rooms I had and how many people lived in the house ( how does any of that concern him? ). Once I took him to the source, he told me what he thought the problem was and said he couldn't fix it. Fair enough. I walk him out and then he goes he'll "charge $145 only". I understood what he meant but still asked him if it was to fix the problem. He said "no fix, too high (location of issue). I come, tell you problem, $145". He was trying to extort me and obviously I didn't fall for it but wondered if people actually did fall for it. He gestured that he'll write me a receipt for $145 and I told him he could do what he wanted because I wasn't paying. The company rep on the phone explicitly mentioned there was no charge to look at the issue. His command over English wasn't the best, he's Asian looking and his name was Gah/ Hah / Ga / Ha. He responded promptly to my request and happily answered all of my questions (which were a lot) and never once made me feel rushed, clearly explained his logic/approach and gave me full confidence in his recommendations as an expert. Last but not least is that he could've easily upsold me on services, but after a thorough assessment including my main line, ultimately recommended the least costly approach with some suggestions for future consideration if any problems arise.
