Came because of the great reviews walked in and was the only one there. They had only one defrosted cake and muffins, for baked goods. I order a half portabella salad. It was a couple of strips of portabella and a ton of goat cheese. A Which over powered everything. Also salad was yellowing. I think I was also just put off by the service as well one woman was helpful with drinks the other not so much. For what you get, this is just too expensive. A cup of coffee regardless of size is 3$. The food is good, but it isn't so much better than other places that are cheaper. Sometimes the service is slow even when it isn't busy. But I like the look of the place. It has a nice, private patio. read more

I came form out of town and received many recommendations to try HC before I finally took the plunge. I wish I hadn't waited so long! This place is absolutely incredible. The owner greeted us immediately, gave us recommendations from the menu and answered any questions we had. The service was superior, quick, friendly and efficient. Truly the best breakfast I have had in Montana by far. I would recommend the pancakes to anyone looking to satisfy a down to earth sweet tooth; as they are unlike any other recipe I've had. If you're in Butte, looking for a classier, more uptown experience this is the place to go. You will certainly be left wanting to return to make your way through the incredibly vast menu. Hubby and I are passing through, saw the other reviews so thought we would try. We just needed go-go juice, now I wish we would have been hungry. We decided to check out Hummingbird based on excellent reviews... we weren't disappointed. It's a really nice venue with a cute back porch. The staff was extremely nice and the service was great. The menu was a little too trendy for my tastes. Almost every menu item includes adjectives like: "organic," "local," "vegan," "gluten-free," etc. Perhaps this contributed to the items seeming a little bit over-priced. My meal was great and I would go there again, but I am not really into the whole organic scene and would have enjoyed a simpler menu. read more

Great for a green and organic day out to lunch. Fine teas and coffee. Hummingbird combo is favorite of ours on the cheap- Soup, salad, half sandwich and sides for under $12 and all fresh that day and organic. Honey mustard dressing is sooo good! Beautiful seating areas indoors and out. Always clean. Always great art displays and sometimes live music, readings, etc. Had them cater a few times for munchies and finger food venues and we were completely happy with everything! Great concept, needed in Butte, but the execution is awful. The place doesn't know what it wants to be, and it couldn't produce a simple breakfast burrito within 25 minutes when the restaurant isn't that busy. It needs to be under new management/ownership, rebrand, and stick to some regular hours with a menu it can execute in a reasonable timeframe. read more

UGH!!! I used to love coming here. Now.....there is a lot of waiting & waiting & waiting. Our last visit, we received our food an hour after ordering & before we received our coffee & tea. During the hour of waiting, we watched as table after table got up and left. As more people came into the restaurant, we watched as others warned them "be patient". I have a hard time blaming the service on the 2 girls that were working that day. Management should schedule at least 4 servers to cover that place. We stopped in for a late lunch, so the cafe wasn't too busy, but it's larger than it looks from the outside, with lots of seating areas. The menu is focused on using local foods when possible, and has lots of gluten-free, vegan, and dairy-free options. They also have tasty desserts, a smoothie/juice bar, an actual bar, and lots of coffee/tea/hot beverage options. Well worth a visit if you're in the area. read more

Stopped by this quaint cafe in Butte. It's rusticly located in an older building. When you first walk in you think "new age" and what could they have to interest me. DONT TURN AROUND!!! The food was the best home style of food I've eaten for breakfast on my trip across the country. I've eaten here with my family about three times now. The food is really tasty and portions are ample. We have tried the breakfast and lunch menu both of which you can get all day. Great place for vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores. One thing though. The cappuccino was filled half-way with coffee and half with foam. My mother-in-law would have preferred more coffee and less foam. Oh and the vegan chocolate cake is to die for! read more

We stopped here for a late dinner. It wasn't busy at all and was relatively quiet. Loved the art, the wood tables, and feel of the place. Although one thing that could stand to be improved was the bathroom...it was kind of ok, but also kind of falling apart. The person working at the front was also our waitress. I was fine with this because she left a pitcher of water at the table (so we didn't ever run out), and when she realized we were ready to go, she was prompt about getting our check back to us and our to-go containers. The food was great. I had a sandwich that was really good; can't remember what my wife had but she was happy as well. We also had kombucha for $4 each; really not a bad price for kombucha. And it was very good. Unfortunately what we didn't realize till later was that it was full of energizing things that kept us up at night...but I wouldn't blame that on the Hummingbird. read more

I like the couple that runs the cafe.' I have to admit to not going often mainly because I cook a lot, but like to give business to good people. A little high-priced for portions, and the Chai tea is a little spicy (almost takes like too much cardamom in it) for my taste, but good soups are available, and atmosphere really cool - have to admit, though, some of the waitresses aren't exactly helpful read more
