If you read my reviews, I rarely if ever give negative reviews. I use Yelp to find highly rated restaurants, much like this one. Our visit today was awful. It took 40minutrs to get our food. Took 10 minutes for a server to acknowledge us. I had to get my own coffee refill because the server was texting instead of seeing if we needed anything. The food was not great either. I had the Gobbler, it was fair. My buddy had the Bison Burger which clearly was a frozen patty that was overcooked. I usually like the Hipster places that focus on local. That being said, you still have to put pride in your food quality and service. It was like they didn't give a !#it. read more

Service was very unfriendly, food took 30 minutes & it was delivered cold. Burger was so dry it took two glasses of water to get it down. Restroom was worse than any gas station or bar restroom. Won't return to this place again. read more

This is a cute little cafe with a nice patio or indoor tables. The service was very quick and friendly. I ordered the breakfast wrap, which was a delicious combination (the way I ordered it) of eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese, and fresh salsa. My husband ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the soup of the day, and he said it was really good. We will definitely try the Hummingbird Cafe again the next time we are in Butte. read more

Driving through on vacation and stopped here due to great Yelp reviews. It looked as advertised... cozy, hipster, and local with lots of personality. Unfortunately, that is all the positive things I can find to say. An hour to be served my lunch, with only 1 refill during that time was made worse by an indifferent staff. The 6 word apology that she was "sorry the kitchen was so slow" as she dropped off my bill didn't make up for the tasteless burger or the hour wasted waiting. read more

I am so glad that I was able to make it to the Hummingbird Cafe on my last day in Butte. They're only open for breakfast (starting at 7:30) and lunch, so my work schedule for the week ruled it out until my last day, on the way to the airport. They offer table service now if you're eating in, and the service was prompt and efficient. The Grecian stew, a hearty soup of tomatoes, potatoes and kalamata olives was tasty and different. The salad was fresh. I ordered a smoothie to go, and while waiting to pay at the counter, noticed that any of the sandwiches could have been ordered with gluten-free bread (I don't think this was noted on the menu, and would have been great to know!). This is certainly a great option in Butte, it's too bad they're not open for dinner, too! read more

Most horrible experience at a restaurant in all my life. Waited 45 min for food, then food sat 5 min on shelf before I finally told waitress my food was ready. Food came cold (of course). First time I could recall leaving ZERO tip. read more

Sandwiches were pretty good - nice flavor but the bread was very stale. The chile was the worst I ever had - watery and the beans were hard. I selected the red potatoes as a side. Half were burnt. When I showed this (I've posted a picture) she said that it was close to 1:00 pm and that the potatoes get burnt from being on the pan so long. She then said more would be made at 4:00 pm. Favorite place in Butte. The staff make you feel at home, and the food is delicious. The pancakes taste like cake, and are vegan! And the fresh juices and smoothies can't be beat. Always ask what the waitresses favorites are, they eat the food daily and will know what to serve, even with diet restrictions. read more

It's a nice little upscale cafe, with a selection of loose teas, coffees, a pretty wide menu of sandwiches, omlettes, etc. They also offer wifi. What's really exciting about it, though, is that the space is HUGE. There's the main room in front, then another, then another, then ANOTHER as you walk back. In the second room back, there's a large dining-style table that looks perfect for a study group, or sharing a meal with a bunch of friends. In the way back, there's even a small stage for performances. This space has enormous potential, and it's exciting to think what it may bring to Butte. read more

This being the one of the only restaurants in Butte with vegan options, I am there often for lunch . I love their TLT sandwich and smoothies. Based on that, I would give them the fiull five stars. The three starS are for the food. However, where they fall short is on service and smiles. With the exception of two or three servers, I am rarely greeted with a smile and made to feel welcomed. I feel as though I am a bother and on one occasion I had to walk out because I didn't have time to wait as long as I was to be served. I really like the food and yet there are times where I am at odds with myself over whether I should go there or somewhere else because I may not be in the mood to wait or feel like an unwanted guest. read more

Excellent tofu dishes and great vegan options! The tofu no-queso-dilla with walnut pesto and almond cream was incredible.

This cafe was an unexpected delight on our travels. I can unambiguously say that The next time I'm in Butte Montana I will eat here again. The sandwiches, tacos, salads and Italian sodas were excellent. As was the service. Who knew such a place existed in this mining town. read more

I was a regular at the Hummingbird from when it opened and faithfully go there every day when I'm back in town. The other reviews have it nailed: very good coffee, nice light breakfast items and lunches, comfortable atmosphere, extremely nice owners and staff. The single bathroom is certainly not modern but it's always clean and has scrapbook type snapshots of the owners' families on the walls. The owners are into music and often host open mic events and little bluegrass/old-timey groups. The outdoor seating is pleasant but, this being Butte, is only useable about three months of the year. They own a little parking lot up the street but it's not next to the building. It's the nicest place of its sort in Butte. read more

I love this place and can't wait to go back the next time I'm in Butte! It's in an old house so there are several separate dining rooms, each with 4-6 tables in them, which creates a quiet and more intimate setting. Plus there's a gorgeous enclosed patio for outside seating. There's art on the walls, games, friendly service and a relaxing, warm environment. I love that they have a build-your-own sandwich option, but I ended up going with one off the menu. I ordered the Smoked Salmon BLT and it was DELICIOUS. I added sprouts and avocado (it comes with smoked salmon, local bacon, lettuce, tomato, and mayo), which only made it tastier. Granted, it came out without the tomato, but when I pointed this out I received a whole plate of tomatoes! I realized later that there was no lettuce, but it didn't matter - it was so good! The bacon was amazing, the smoked salmon flakey and flavorful. I chose the roasted red potatoes as my side and they were heavenly! They were crisp on the outside, creamy on the inside, just the right amount of seasoning, and piping hot. I usually prefer having salad as an option for side dishes, but these potatoes were excellent. My honey ordered the Bison burger, which he said was a little overcooked, but overall good and pretty flavorful. He loved the bun. His side was the potato salad, which he thoroughly enjoyed. We were too full for dessert, but the pecan pie looked amazing. They had cookies, pie, and milkshakes, plus a gluten-free brownie option. The gluten-free brownies looked fudgey and decadent. The service was super friendly and attentive. I took so long ordering that our waitress stopped by about 3 or 4 times before I was ready. Later on a different waitress brought out our food, plus I snagged another waitress to point out the forgotten tomatoes, but our original waitress returned to clear our plates. Everyone was friendly and happy to help. I left feeling pleasantly full and satisfied. I wish I lived in Butte so I could go here more often! read more

This is going to be our new GO-TO every time we are in Butte. There are so many items on the menu that I wanted to try, so I'll have to come back. I had a sandwich with turkey, cheese, and cranberries. It was DELICIOUS. Got the whole sandwich-- had to share a couple of bites with hubby. The last bite was just as yummy as the first. We just got our meal to go, but would like to have some time to spend there. It's a great little place...great service and my sandwich was not too pricey either---$9. You will not get a side of fries with anything there, but you will get super yummy food! read more

This is one of the worst breakfast I've ever had. The food took forever and then the order was wrong. When we got our food the wrap was filled with scraps of who knows what and ice cold. They took off one meal off the bill but we left grossed out. Never will go there again. read more

A very satisfying breakfast. Ordered the pancakes and tofu egg scramble with tempeh bacon. The pancakes were a little undercooked but it has great flavor. The tofu egg scramble and tempeh bacon were spiced a bit too much with cumin. The tempeh bacon would go well with plain scrambled eggs instead. Good strong coffee. the service was very friendly and helpful. Other patrons must have come at a super busy time. Would definitely come back again to try the lunch menu read more

Cute little cafe, waitress was very attentive. The orange juice was super fresh and they have plenty of veggie/vegan substitute options. One small thing, they were a bit heavy with the oil on the potatoes and the omelet. I'm sure you could request them to take it easy though.
