I've been a bunch of times and I like eating here. It's a cool place with and good hippie food (hot sandwiches, yummy soups, hummus and chips, sprouts and smoothies). Sadly, the staff are on hippie time - it's almost impossible to get served - this has happened over and over again; constantly trying to flag someone down to order, get another drink, get the check. Have you ever been to Butte? I vote it the freakiest place in the NorthWest. And lo and behold in the midst of this wacky semi abandoned town on a hill- there was mana from heaven in the way of the Hummingbird Cafe! I visited with my nieces and I think we may have ordered almost everything on the menu. This is a local gem in Butte! Fresh flavors, organic/vegetarian/vegan options as well as regular options. Accidentally ordered the vegan BLT my first visit and was pleasantly surprised; killed the entire thing. Visited once a day the entire week I was there last November. While travelling through Butte, I was so happy to come across this café with an abundant selection of vegan meals. We were there for breakfast and had the pancakes with fruit topping and maple syrup. it was delicious. I also had a side of the vegan sausage, also very good. My husband had the tofu scramble burrito that was good but on the salty side. Their selection of vegan lunch items was impressive. The service was lax but friendly. Would have loved to had a juice but was too full by the time I left. Will make a point to stopping in again when in the area. read more

You're better off eating dirt than going to the Hummingbird Cafe. I've never encountered such poor customer service and rude, unhelpful wait staff. Their version of a falafel sandwich is wafer-thin burnt to a crisp tasteless falafel with watery tahani. The wait for this was unreasonably long and very over priced. Stopped in for a light lunch and the Hummingbird delivered. The only thing holding back from the five star rating is the menus size. Only five choices exist on the lunch menu, however, the food is fresh, handcrafted, and delicious. If you are famished this isn't the place for you. Used Yelp to find a place to eat a quick lunch while visiting Butte - What a find. Absolutely fabulous sandwiches. I had the smoked salmon, bacon, lettuce and tomato and was blown away. We stopped here for lunch on a road trip. Great option for a healthy, reasonably priced lunch. Technically, there are only two "kids sandwiches" but mine did a combo of regular menu items and improvised kid choices. We all loved our food! Top faves were "The Beast" and the vegan chili. read more

This was an awesome little cafe. Our breakfast could not have been any better and I would say that the Hummingbird Cafe served us the best breakfast we have ever had. The service was friendly and prompt and the cafe had a charming atmosphere and was nicely appointed. We live across the state and I would drive out of my way to eat there again. What a lovely little gem this is! I've never had a dish here that was less than good, and often the food is excellent. It's a great place to find locally sourced food, vegetarian and vegan options, and ethically grown and handled coffee and tea. The space is lovely, with local art featured and great little nooks and crannies for enjoying a meal or catching up with friends. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because their red potatoes are almost always burned. Still, I'm a huge fan and will keep coming back as long as this great spot is here for us in Butte! read more

Best pancakes ever! Holy crap. Whole wheat, cinnamon, raspberries and huckleberries? I need to go back for more. Pretty good coffee drinks too. Inexpensive. I love the hummingbird and their food but for the past 4 or 5 times I've been in its taken me over an hour to even get my food and when I do there's usually something wrong with it. Super disappointed and probably won't be eating here again anytime soon I once ordered online and it said it would be ready in a half hour. I got the text that it was ready to pick up and ended up sitting in there for 25 more minutes after that cus it actually wasn't done. And it was not busy at all when I was in there. Not cool. Gave it 3 stars instead of 1 cus it was great a few months ago and it breaks my heart that it's been like this. read more

I was very disappointed after my recent experience at the hummingbird cafe. I've worked in the service industry for over 16 years and I've never seen such an awful display of customer service. When we arrived at the cafe there were about 15 open tables just covered in dirty plates, glasses, etc. They didn't appear to be slammed but there was nobody around to greet or seat us. Finally after being told to find a seat we stood around waiting for someone to come and clean a table off. We stood and waited for about 10 minutes and then about another 10 to even get greeted by a server. We ordered our cocktails and food right away since we noticed things were moving very slowly and also had a flight to catch. 25 minutes had gone by and we still didn't have any drinks. Irritated, I went up front to ask our server if she forgot about our order and the other girl standing there snaps at me and says, I'm trying to bartend and serve at the same time and I'll make them when I can. We waited another 15 minutes before she brought over the wrong drink order and a cold Irish coffee. Then our food comes out. The snappy girl calls out a ham breakfast wrap with no cheese and I said, no that's not what I ordered. She replies, well I'm not the one who rang it in so I don't know what you had. Then sets it down and walks away. Annoyed and starving at this point I just said screw it and tried to eat it anyways. It was sausage, not ham and it was ice cold. Nobody ever came back to our table to ask us if everything was okay or if we needed anything else. We had no silverware, no condiments, and still missing our drinks that we originally ordered. I was blown away on the girls response to my food being incorrect. Any normal person would say, I'm sorry.. let me check with your server and the kitchen to get the correct order for you. Who just dumps a bunch of plates on a table and walks away with no regard to what we ordered? As I look around the restaurant at this point, there are people waiting everywhere dealing with the same thing as us. Just awful. I can give anyone the benefit of the doubt when getting in the weeds but this was something I never experienced before. I won't be going out to eat again for a while because this ruined "dining out" and being taken care of for me. read more
