Another fantastic stay at the Hummingbird! This was the third year in a row my husband and I stayed at the Hummingbird for his birthday weekend. From check in to check out, our stay was fabulous! The young gentlemen working the tasting room were knowledgeable and friendly. The breakfasts were just the right size and very well prepared, our first day was French toast and fruit and our second day was huevos rancheros, yum! We highly recommend the Chardonnay room, it's cozy, quiet and the bed is like a cloud! See ya'll next year! read more

What a fabulous way to spend time with your friends . Drinking great wine paired with delicious appetizers coming from the kitchen . The views are spectacular . The grounds historic . But most of all the staff is Amazing, so friendly,so accommodating . I just received a beautiful hand written note from them. How often do you receive one of those ? Really fun, relaxed and beautiful winery. The setting is Southern Oregon stunning with valley and vineyard views. I appreciate how the structures have been made open to the public while preserving their original history, especially the cottage. The terraced gardens are a charming mix of detailed work and native plants. It's a delight to stroll the property in soft afternoon light, a little drink and listening to good music. By the way - and OMG - there are kittens roaming the property as well! The family who owns and operates Hummingbird was very hospital - it felt like I was a dinner guest at a friend's house rather than a customer. Edward spent time telling me about the estate, architecture, history and a little about himself. It felt inclusive and fun - not stuffy and formal. It is clear how much energy and resources Edward and Family are putting into making Hummingbird a great experience for guests. We have many gorgeous wineries popping up in the Rogue Valley - I am happy that Hummingbird is getting the attention this beautiful location deserves while offering a delightful wine dine and vine experience. My wife and I recently spent a night at Hummingbird. We were traveling to celebrate her retirement and wow - what a find. Ed and Susan, the owners, went out of their way to make sure we were welcomed and comfortable (they even joined us for a glass of wine). Kristina who is their daughter is a rock star; she is everywhere doing everything. The wines were excellent and if you are a bubbly fan you must try the sparkling Chardonnay. The first thing I want to say is WOWZA!! This was such an unexpected surprise while on our vacation. This place was magical, well loved and very special! The rooms were luxurious, the wine was superb, but the service was outstanding. The breakfasts were amazing!! You will feel like a part of the family here -everyone is so friendly and hospitable! Beds very comfy, rooms spacious-all have their own bath rooms, and rooms are all quiet and private. This is a 5 star establishment! Positives: Gorgeous estate, I don't know what it's considered but it feels like a cross between a French Chateau and a converted Spanish monastery! Seems perfect for use as a vacation/destination. Great bed and bedding-- esp pillows. Lovely views out our window in Syrah suite. Negatives: Bathroom is not what I expected given the lushness of the grounds and roominess and care taken to create tasteful suites and public areas. Small, cramped;shower took an eternity to get hot, inadequate shower pressure. The focus, from my abbreviated visit seems to be the guests who are there for wine tasting. It was unclear where we were supposed to go to check-in and more to the point, no one checked in with us again after that. The next morning, the 7am-9am continental breakfast was not available at around ten after 7. The kitchen looked dark, so no coffee. I'd asked early in the day that we checked in if a late check-out was possible. No answer that day. The next morning I asked again and heard back around 2pm--hours after we'd checked out. Person said she'd not had cell service for hours. Which doesn't explain why I didn't receive a reply the previous day nor why the person responsible for ensuring a guest has a great stay isn't available for hours at a time. This isn't a vacation rental. For $250, in this area, I would have liked to see a nice breakfast included and some presence of management/staff. Lastly, this may not bother others but I needed to take a nap the afternoon we checked in and I couldn't sleep because the patio/deck was abuzz with lots of people tasting wine (yes, windows were closed.) I don't know how often it's like this but this inn may not be the ideal place for serenity and respite in general, unless there are rooms which are much quieter than Syrah. With the piped in music and spirited conversation it was like we we were above a bar--a nice one, no doubt--but nonetheless a public area. read more

We stayed overnight on Saturday. Beautiful venue! The bar/restaurant side was pretty busy, loud when we arrived and there was live music. It's open to the public, not just their guests. Upon arrival, I texted them as instructed. The room was unlocked, and we were told to go into the room where we'll find our room key. I followed the instructions on how to order breakfast for the next day. Never did get a text back. We, later found the owner/chef downstairs, and put in our order. I thought it was odd that in the instructions to order, we had options. However, the response we got from the owner was it was chef's choice. For the rest of our evening, we walked around the property, looked at the art displayed, did wine tasting (they gave us a credit towards the tasting). Wine was good. Bar staff were great! My reasonings for a 3-star are: First, and the MOST important thing, I felt there wasn't a lot of thought put into our breakfast. It was literally scrambled eggs, banana nut muffin and mixed fruit. Nothing special, where I felt I could've totally make this at home on pennies and dimes. The mixed fruit wasn't fresh, I had to pick some pieces out. Our meal was cold when it arrived to our room. My purpose to staying and paying so much for a room is to enjoy the gourmet breakfast. Secondly, I felt the check-in and order process were inconsistent with their directions. What happens if we didn't seek out to ask someone downstairs on the breakfast? I guess in other B&Bs we've stayed at, the host is usually available to greet us and walk us through at arrival. Lastly, the property was packed when we arrived. There was no parking. We drove around, looking for parking. Then, learned that someone had parked at our reserved parking space. Luckily they moved their car, where we didn't have to get the venue staff involved. I was very disappointed with our visit, since this place had amazing reviews! Beautiful venue, but would I stay here again? Likely no. Would I recommend it? No to staying in the B&B, but yes to wine and food in the bar area. read more

I have been dreaming about staying at the Bed and Breakfast for over a year now, and finally got the chance. It exceeded my expectations! The winery had delicious wines and food, a stunning view of the valley, and perfectly chosen live music- which attracted a fun crowd. We stayed in the Japanese Maple room, which was immaculately clean, fully stocked and beautifully decorated - it was very comfortable and felt like home. Communicating with the staff regarding our stay was easy and yielded quick response times. Our breakfast was delivered to our room precisely on time by Meghann, who was very friendly and professional. The breakfast was made to order- piping hot and fit our dietary restrictions perfectly. I cannot wait to stay at Hummingbird Estate again and try out one of their other beautiful rooms. read more

Wow. This place is an absolute magical gem. My husband and I found hummingbird estate when we were googling a nice winery in southern Oregon. We booked the Sequoia room and I will say right now- ANY room is gorgeous and spacious. You will be happy in ANY. Room! This place is a piece of history that an amazing couple bought with their family and nursed to this incredible modern yet charming bed and breakfast. We arrived around 4pm and were greeted with a smiling face outside. We were given a tour of the property and welcomed as if we were family. We took a class of wine and Visited the vineyard and tasted the grapes! The next morning they were picking the Chardonnay grapes and offered the opportunity for us to pick too!!! How fun is that?!?! This estate is all BRAND NEW and this family put such personal touches and such thought into every detail. The heart is seen and the family is beyond genuine. We had amazing wine and stayed up looking at the stars in this quiet quaint town. We woke up to the smell of pancakes and amazing fresh hot coffee. We had eggs and fresh fruit and were able to sit outside on the patio. We were given clean blankets since it was 50 degrees out. I would have a baby shower here, bridal, wedding! We bought some of the amazing wine too to bring home! My husband is going to email to see if we can have some shipped to our home in Houston! We will be back and we cannot wait. read more

Beautiful place and great white Pinot Noir, BUT very poor service and decor/furniture is low quality and ugly. Came with my family on a Wednesday evening with live music, and they only had one person on staff. Seems like the owners are running this place on the cheap. My husband and I stayed at Hummingbird Estates last weekend and had a lovely stay. The grounds and view are absolutely stunning not to mention the building itself. We really appreciated the lengths that were taken to preserve original architectural elements and fixtures and all of the little details make for a warm and welcoming experience.
