Heard about this place from a Facebook group and the food is seriously as great as everyone says! I swung by with 2 friends after a long hike and we were all starving. I ordered the beef kafta kabob plate with a side of salad and garlic hummus. The salad was simple and refreshing. The vinegrette was light and tasted of a bunch of spices. The crunchy "croutons" which I think was fried pita bread was so good and unique. Garlic hummus was absolutely delightful. I had asked the owner which one was the most popular and he said it was probably the garlic. I smothered this all over the pita bread and it just added so much garlicky goodness to every bite. The beef kafta kabob looks simple but it's packed with flavor but the spices are not too overwhelming at all. I also took a few bites of my friend's shawarma nachos and it was so bomb. The chips are made with fried pita bread and it's so crispy without being oily. I can tell there's beef, onions, and hummus as the toppings but I'm not too sure what other ingredients are in there. But together they make a beautiful plate of nachos. Portions are generous, I was full after finishing half my plate and saved the rest for the next day. I've never been a big fan of hummus or mediterranean food, but I had to check out the hype around Hummus Labs. Spoiler before you finish reading my review, I'm now obsessed! We got their Chicken Shawarma Fries (comes with garlic hummus), Chicken Kabob Platter with Red Beet Dill and Cilantro-Jalapeño Hummus, Filet Mignon Platter with Garlic Paste and Roasted Tomato Habanero Hummus, and a bag of Pita Chips. Each platter comes with 2 choices of hummus and 2 pita breads. The Chicken Shawarma was delicious. It was filled with chicken and tomatoes. Kind of on the soggy side for us, but that's definitely because we drove 30 mins to get home. If I went back, I'd get the Chicken Shawarma Nachos instead; their pita chips are some of the best I've ever had so I'd prefer that over fries any day. For their platters, the proteins took me by surprise! They were flavorful, soft and NOT DRY! On top of that, I love that they came with two heaping scoops of hummus. I recommend their Fillet Mignon Platter with Garlic Paste and Cilantro-Jalapeno Hummus. The Garlic Paste is super creamy and buttery and the Cilantro Jalapeño Hummus is so fresh! You can taste the cilantro and subtle kick from the jalapeño in every bite! It's AMAZING! As far as location & parking, they are located on Colorado St. across from H&R Block. There are seats in the front for outdoor dining if you want to enjoy your food hot! I decided to cheat on my usual Mediterranean café lunch and try hummus labs. The food was excellent and definitely enjoyable. The salad looked a little bit sad and the greens were a bit brown and it might've been the dressing and seasoning but the salad just looked really depressing visually but it tasted great, the chicken kebab was really flavorful and the hummus and feta dip was great. The food is pretty slow to be ready so if you're in a rush on your lunch break, this might not be ideal or you can order ahead. This staff is very nice and very accommodating, and this place should become even better when they grow some legs, I love that they offer a tomahawk steak on the menu and I really want to try that for dinner sometime that looks amazing. Came here a few months back and finally got a chance to review it now. I am a big fan of Mediterranean Food so just wanted to see how it compares to some of the big chains. I have to say, I was impressed but there were some things here and there I wanted to address. First of all, they have limited parklets for outdoor dining when we were here around September. Since it's outside, having someone to clean the tables took some time. The menu has popular items such as chicken or beef kabobs. But for a gluttonous good time, do order their shawarma nachos. It's freaking delicious. Some of our chips were really dark, as in over fried but that was my only complaint. Lots of flavor combinations in different layers, so I recommend eating it quick or it'll become soggy. Their garlic paste is delicious but not quite as garlicky as say Zankou. We also ordered the chicken kabob for the little one. Super simple, yet super good. Will most likely come back here again for some takeout whenever we are in the area again. Finally tried this place after passing it a few times while driving through Pasadena. My hopes were high after reading through previous reviews, but alas I felt like the food was a let down. Maybe it was just an off day. Regarding COVID precautions, they are wearing masks and have a socially distanced line. We went at noon today and there wasn't much of a line. Service was quick and you wait outside until your order is ready. We got the shawarma nachos since almost every review mentioned them, and also got the pita party pack to try out some of the sides. First off, the good. Nachos are pretty hefty and can probably feed two people depending on how hungry you are. They're actually fried pita chips topped with caramelized onions, shawarma, and garlic hummus. I think it's a great concept with a neat twist on a classic, but the actual food missed the mark for me. The flavors and spices were good and frying the chips makes them crunchy. However it also makes them kinda greasy, which is compounded by the oil in the onions/beef. Unfortunately the shawarma itself was probably the toughest shawarma I've ever had, so eating it in nacho form was difficult. I like the idea of the party pack as well, although it does run a hefty $12. We had the cilantro jalapeño, roasted tomato habanero, baba ghanoush, and garlic paste. Solid, but nothing to write home about. The garlic paste must have been blended with oil or something because it was super greasy when eaten with the fried pita chips. Overall I liked the concept but the execution wasn't great. It's a new experience for me to have mediterranean food where the dominant flavor is greasiness. I'll probably give it another chance and try one of the rice platters next time. read more

Why I haven't heard about this place before... I don't know but it hits! I'm pretty picky with my Kafta but this one is sure juicy, perfectly seasoned. The portion is great for lunch with plenty of leftovers. I ordered the Kafta platter with a side of the jalapeño hummus and tzatziki with half salad and half rice and a side of the cucumbers. Made a little wrap with it and I have to say it's 11/10. Salad comes with little pita chips, bell peppers and tomatoes. We preordered from the office and drove it back (packaged securely). Loving what I'm seeing on the menu, so far I've only tried the beef shawarma nachos to-go but I would trust the other dishes based on the yummy quality of what I had. Everything tasted wonderful - the seasoning, meat, pita chips and hummus parts of it were GREAT. I wasn't a fan of the grilled tomatoes and onions being mixed into the meat but I like that it added juice to the shawarma which at most restaurants can be served very dry. It was a really heavy meal to digest but I think some chopped lettuce or fresh tomatoes instead of grilled would balance it out. It's possible the chicken shawarma nachos is the optimal option for the nacho concept - I'd definitely try that next. read more

This place lives up to the hype . So thankful for SGV Eats for showing me this place!! A must try if you're ever in the area or if you're not in the area still check them out. My friend and I shared the shawarma nachos and the chicken kebab with tzatziki sauce and side salad. The shawarma nachos are with pita chips and protein is filet mignon (i think). The pita chips were super crispy and it didn't get soggy. Amazing!! The nachos had too much cinnamon but it was an interesting pair that paired well together for some reason. The owner, Joseph was nice he came to check up on us a few times while we were eating outside. And he told us the next time the nachos will have less cinnamon since other customers mentioned that as well. Thank you for such friendly service and for checking up on us. The restaurant itself is easy to find on the street and is bright & open when you walk in. They have menus on the monitors on the wall so you don't need to touch anything. Ordering is simple and there is a table between you and the cashier for social distancing. They have some outdoor tables for the restaurants in the immediate area for use. The city of Pasadena has permitted seating in blocked off sections of Colorado Blvd for outdoor seating. We were expecting it to be more loud as the cars were passing by us, but the noise wasn't bad at all. The yummies - Shawarma Nachos - fresh fried pita chips with filet mignon marinated in tomatoes & onions, topped with garlic hummus, parsley & sumac. Pretty yummy! But the flavor of the schwarma was a bit off for me. The pita chips & garlic hummus were great. Filet mignon plate with katamala olives & feta cheese dip - the filet mignon was delicious! Soft & juicy. Came with 2 pitas. The rice was fluffy & flavorful with the noodly things :). Mediterranean Salmon plate - OMG the salmon was perfectly cooked & super flavorful! I had never heard or seen this place before until my friend mentioned she wanted to try it. I drove past it all the time but just never had noticed it. It's a cute little restaurant near Lake on Colorado and due to covid they are only offering outdoor seating. My friends and I decided to grab lunch and the guy working there who I assume was the owner was so patient and kind with the hundreds of questions we were asking. I got the chicken shawarma nachos and I know you're thinking what was that like? Well it was essentially crispy pita chips topped with chicken shawarma and hummus. It was seasoned to perfection and just simply amazing. I couldn't even finish it so I took it home to my husband who devoured it. Love anything crunchy like nachos so decided to give this spot a try! Tried to order on Grubhub but couldn't find the Beef Shawarma Nachos as it's not on their menu. On Yelp, in the "Info" section, I clicked on the second item, and that sent me to their website and I came across other ordering platforms. I browsed ChowNow and found the nachos! Also noticed that the prices for the usual menu seemed lower than what was shown on Grubhub, dang! After reading other Yelp reviews, I wrote in the notes to swap the garlic hummus for the garlic paste. I do like garlic and was very familiar with garlic hummus, so I was curious about the snowy-white garlic paste. It was fairly easy to find the location. As I passed it on my left, I turned left at the corner and parked right along the side of the one-way road. I went during a weekday night and traffic seemed a bit light. Glad it wasn't crowded and how convenient my arrival turned out. Pickup was quick and I was in and out in less than a couple minutes! Couldn't wait, so after I sanitized my hands, I dug in the nachos in the comfort of my car. Wow, super delicious! Love the pita nacho concept. Totally satisfied my craving for crunchy foods. Plenty of toppings per chip; however, it didn't seem like there was enough beef. Perhaps, just a personal preference! The garlic paste was surely a decent tasty surprise. Thinner consistency than hummus and super garlicky. The portion is large enough to feed 2 people. They currently don't have happy hour. They also do not allow pets in their establishment unless it's a service animal. Parking: There is no street parking available on Colorado BLVD since it's blocked off for outdoor dining. The parking lot is located on Mentor. There is no one enforcing the parking lot during the pandemic, so you can park there as long as you want. If you want to park on Mentor street, that's fine too. The spots in the parking lot are pretty big and wide. Food: I ordered the beef shawarma nachos, and I have to say that it did live up to the hype. This establishment has been on my foodie bucket list for a while since I had discovered this gem on Yelp, and I finally had the chance to try this place out yesterday. The nachos were hella bomb. The nachos had lots of tomatoes and beef. The double layered, crunchy pita chips are freshly made everyday. They make their own pita chips. How cool is that?!?! There were a lot of delicious pita chips in the nachos. I love how they poured a bunch of garlic hummus on the top of the beef and tomatoes. I think the garlic hummus combined with the beef, onions, and tomatoes really brings out all of the mouthwatering flavors. The owner of the establishment told me that if you don't want pita chips, you can now substitute it for French fries. If you don't like beef, you can always substitute it for chicken. Order this! I was really excited to eat here but when we arrived we were tempted to try the spot next door instead. I'm not sure why but we should have listened to our gut instinct. We ordered the chicken shawarma nachos and chicken skewer. The skewer was under flavored and the rice was ok. The nachos had far too much going on. The pita chips were decent but almost everything else was bad. There wasn't much chicken but what was there was covered in a terrible sauce. The flavor just wasn't good. Then there were all the textures going on with the tomatoes and onions. I think it would have been better served by having pickled onions. The best thing was the hummus but that was average at best. Hummus Labs opened up during the COVID-19 pandemic, and there has been so much hype ever since. After trying them out for the first time, I can see why! The menu item that stands out to me the most is actually their party pack + pita chips. Their make their own pita chips, and I have to say these are the best pita chips I have ever had. We bought these chips along with the party pack for some friends to try as well, and they ended up asking where we got them from, so they could go purchase their own. My favorite sides to order for the party pack include the garlic hummus, cilantro jalapeno hummus, roasted tomato habanero hummus, and baba ghanoush. The roasted tomato habanero hummus has a kick to it, so if you can't handle spice, I'd probably stay away from this one. I've also ordered the garlic paste as part of their party pack in the past, but I felt it was a little too heavy/greasy to pair well with the pita chips. I've been looking for the next best Mediterranean spot since none of the ones in SGV have compared to my favorite spot in Riverside yet but y'all.. Hummus Labs has done it... they've officially taken over as my new #1. The shawarma pita chip nachos are to die for. I have never come across a better executed "nacho" dish in my life thus far. The pita chips hold up so well and stay crispy forever. They don't get soggy like traditional tortilla chips or fries do. About an hour or more elapsed between the time we picked up our food and when we started to eat, so I was pretty worried how the food would hold up but everything was still warm and fresh. You get to choose what side you want on top of your shawarma nachos and we picked the garlic paste, which is the most popular choice, and it was amaaazing!! The beef shawarma was marinated sooo well and married with the sautéed onions and the garlic paste, it just got more addicting with every bite. Even the next day, the dish still tastes as good as it did the day before. We also got the filet mignon platter with garlic hummus and chef's special hummus (I forget which flavor we chose). The filet mignon was so tender and the juices that seeped into the already yummy rice made it even better. My boyfriend didn't care for the hummus in general but I thought they were good! The garlic hummus and garlic paste are the definite winners for now. Next time i'm back, I got my eyes on the salmon or lamb chops (not on the menu) and might wanna try other sides. I normally do not order chicken kabob ever because it consists of white meat but here, it tastes like dark meat - I don't know how but it manages to be so juicy and flavorful.. not dry at all! So far, all you'll see up to this point are reviews during the COVID-19 pandemic considering they opened around the time this was getting around to affecting businesses, daily life, and the economy. They have been diligent, calculated in their decisions, and hardworking throughout the entire time. I first heard of them being mentioned around through offering their off-menu item specialty - shawarma nachos. We got that and the beef kafta kabob platter, which came with two sides, two whole round pieces of pita bread, and a bed of delicious rice. The shawarma nachos consist of (but are not limited to) beef, diced tomatoes, caramelized onions, and tzatziki over pita chips. Coming from San Diego, I know that it may not be the same as carne asada fries, but it's phenomenal in it's own rite and is now one of the foods I will remember to recommend for future visitors. Both dishes were absolutely delicious, as you might notice. Service was great as well. I even had a chat with Joseph (who I believe is the owner), and I got some extra background on the business. He is a very nice guy, and he is very responsive to feedback, both good and bad. He is also very humble, and it definitely shows in the success of the business and its reputation. Parking: Any street parking nearby. There are a few spots just past the outdoor seating area that is blocked off from part of the street, and it may have a 1 or 2 hour limit depending on what it says on the sign (usually enforced 9am-6pm). FYI: - Needless to say, masks are required before entering the business. Honestly, if you are the type to not wear any masks, you can't be surprised if/when you are refused service and/or asked to leave. You're just asking for it. - They also support other small businesses, as they offer their products in conjunction with their own. We went ahead and purchased a couple bottles of tea from NYM (Not Your Mama's). - It's definitely not a late-night spot. They close around 7pm or 7:30pm depending on the day, and they are closed on Sundays. Check for more precise hours. You definitely want to give this place a try when you are in the area. read more

Came here for dinner a few nights ago due to the SGV eats hype and I was not disappointed! Ordered the beef kebab plate as well as the infamous shawarma nachos and they were both great! I also had one of their guava teas they had at the time, was also great! The beef kafta kebab was soo tasty! I really like their rice and the meat had a nice flavor. Also had the salad and garlic hummus on the side. The nachos were soo fire, a little difficult to share especially with covid lol, but decided to use a fork and go in on it myself haha. My sister decided on hummus lab so she ordered it online at 10am and latest time for pick up is 11:30am on a Friday in July. I parked in front of and picked up our lunch. The place is small and in the same biking with mako bowl and Europane bakery and its block away from lake Ave. my chicken kebab with rice, garlic paste, garlic hummus and 2 pita bread. Everything was delicious, especially chicken kebabs was huge in chucks and marinated very well. I love their garlic paste! It's hard to change it up so I always get the same thing. This place has been popping up all over my social media so I had to give it a try. Damn, I did not know hummus could taste this good! I got their filet mignon platter and it was outstanding. Like almost everyone else here, I found this place through the fb group, SGV Eats. I was impressed by all the rave reviews there, but it took me a while to come out to the area. Ordered online and got a discount on first order! Only con was that the online menu doesn't have everything available on it, such as the Nutella hummus. I was quoted 40 min for pickup and when I arrived on time, the food was still super hot. I couldn't even hold it on my lap. We got 2 platters to share, the filet mignon and the salmon. We both liked the salmon more than the beef because it was more juicy and tasted more seasoned. I personally thought the salmon was too sour from too much lemon, but the person I was sharing with said it was perfect. The rice and pita bread were decent, but overhyped by the FB community. The stars of Hummus Labs were the hummus and pita chips. We got the garlic, the roasted tomato habenero, and the cilantro jalapeno. All were delicious and paired really well with the chips, but even the chips were amazing on their own. The hummus pack would probably be the best thing to order off their menu. Would definitely eat here again, but probably not going to drive out just for it again. read more

ABSTRACT Hummus Labs provides excellent food and service. We highly recommend checking out the restaurant! FOOD We have tried their filet mignon platter, fatoush salad, shawarma nachos, and baklava. The filet mignon was very tender. The rice was also very flavorful. The portions lasted us two meals. All the sides we got (including the baba ganoush and garlic paste) were really good. The fatoush salad was a good complement to the meal. The vingear dressing really stimulated our appetites. The inclusion of the pita chips was an excellent choice (even better than croutons!). The shawarma nachos were incredibly flavorful. The pita chips were extremely crispy and savory. Those were the best pita chips we have ever had. The meat was tender and went well with the onions and tomatoes. The nachos lasted the two of us for two meals. The baklava was very aromatic and fragrant with a rose-like smell. It was also very crispy and not too sweet. SERVICE The lady who took our order was very friendly and apologized when our order took a bit longer than usual. Someone from the kitchen came out (perhaps the head chef or proprietor) to apologize to me for the wait. The service here is excellent. MISCELLANEOUS The shawarma nachos are not available on the online menu - you have to phone in your order to get them. There is parking and loading zones on Colorado Boulevard so you can park your car to pick up your order. read more
