Whenever I'm in the mood for tart frozen yogurt, I come to Humphrey Yogart inside Gelson's supermarket in Sherman Oaks. It's been around since 1984, and I've been coming here since I was a kid, back when they had their own standalone storefront in the same shopping center before moving inside Gelson's. At its peak, the chain had six locations across LA, but Sherman Oaks is the only one left -- plus Meghan Markle worked here before she was the Duchess of Sussex. They offer sweet vanilla, tart vanilla, and chocolate bases, plus vegan soy and coconut options and a rotating low-carb flavor. I usually get the tart vanilla with green tea mixed in; today I did bananas. Popular mix-ins include espresso and Heath bar, strawberry banana, and chocolate peanut butter. Humphrey's #1 fan right here. On a weekend evening, expect a little bit of a wait, but it's worth it! I love that you can make something that's totally healthy here if you WANTED to. I chose not to :) Well, I usually go for their carb/low sugar friendly flavors which are actually pretty tasty! The best thing about Humphrey's is that they mix in all the ingredients together like a mcflurry or a blizzard. From fruit to candy to nuts and cookies, they have so many options! There is truly something for everyone here. It's located inside the Gelsons, so it's totally hidden from the street. More of a "if you know you know" sort of joint. They usually have only a couple people working there, and it takes a minute to blend your concoction together so it takes a little time to make. Service is always friendly. They do their best to move through the line quickly. My favorite spot in the Valley to get a delicious frozen treat! Been coming to Humphrey's on and off since 2010 back when they had their original separate location next to Solley's. The Gelsons location has the same great flavors and the same quality of great staff. We come in at least once a week if not more and it's always fantastic. I think if it's your first time coming in definitely ask an employee for a recommendation or ask for them to describe the process of how they make the yogurts. I describe it to people as a healthy Coldstone only for yogurt. Weekend lines can be long especially if you're coming in around 7 or so so I'd recommend coming in on a weeknight maybe around 4 or 5. We get ours to go and take them home and put them in the freezer for 30 minutes. We love you Humphrey's one of the only LA institutions that haven't declined. read more

How cute is this biz name?! Humphrey Yogart is an adorable frozen dessert stop in Gelsons Sherman Oaks. I melt for soft serve so I was sooo excited to check them out. Açaí, smoothies, shakes, floats, pies, build your own froyo - soooooo many options and toppings. I was a little overwhelmed haha but the awesome staff member gave some recs and let us sample some of the soft serve flavors. There's also vegan options so something for everyone! I got the build your own with butterscotch chocolate with toppings blended in (sort of like a McFlurry). The mini is big enough for one person for sure. First time I even noticed this yogurt shop inside of Gelson's. I figured I'd give it a try. Glad I did. First off, Fernando and Kevin are awesome. Very pleasant. Fernando allowed me to try as many flavors as my heart desired. The service he provided was excellent. I tried their sweet vanilla and vanilla tart yogurt, chocolate yogurt, and some of their ice cream flavors. Everything was absolutely delicious. I ended up getting the vanilla sweet yogurt mixed with the vanilla tart yogurt. It was the perfect combination of sweet and tart. The texture of the yogurt is very smooth. Absolutely loved it. They also have a huge selection of low carb and low sugar flavors they alternate daily (see attached monthly calendar for flavors). Looking forward to trying how these taste next time I come. Their offerings here are unmatched, they have even better customer service, very clean and beautiful presentation. It is small but they are very well organized and functional. It's incredible how many options and items they have. It used to be a stand alone but now has been moved into a Gelsons. They have a small but mighty set up and they're consistently good. Tons of regulars frequent the place, and trust me if you live nearby and adore ice cream and frozen yogurt, you'll probably become a regular too. They have low calorie and low sugar options which is awesome. But they also have full sugar wildness too! There are some vegan ice creams which are so rich and delicious but not overwhelming. I loved the coconut vanilla it is the best. There's also a cotton candy flavor ice cream which I thought I'd hate but it's actually the best cotton candy ice cream I've had, very sophisticated. I want to gatekeep this place so badly but doing so is a disservice to society.
