There are several flavors, we sampled some and we noticed an interesting black hole looking color in one of the tubs, they call it Dark Matter. It's been a minute since I've popped into an Afters Ice Cream shop. Jessica (the receipt had the name of Heydi) but I double checked to make sure the girl who helped me was named Jessica. She was very friendly and helped me sample a couple new flavors that I've never tried and wanted her to get the credit for great customer service! They have a really great selection of very creative flavors and mixtures. I decided on the Tripe C's which has a vanilla ice cream base with Chocolate chips, Caramel and Chocolate Fudge. It was creamy and very yummy! Don't forget they have those decadent milky buns (soft glazed donuts) to hold that delicious ice cream. You can order it warm or room temperature. Their toppings are fun and different because most of them are cereal. Parking in that lot can be a nightmare especially during peak hours. Great spot for a yummy sweet treat! There are so many different flavors that you don't usually see at an ice cream shop. My favorites are cookie butter and jasmine milk tea. I don't come here too often but we have been a handful of times to try some of their interesting flavors and we're always very impressed and left happy! Parking is pretty decent, can get packed since there's a Gelson's and other shops around. Walked in and no one else was there, the young worker greeted us and he had zero knowledge about the Dubai chocolate lol. We asked if they sold bars of them like as a set/multiple to take home and he said he had to ask and kinda just walked away (pretty sure he was the only worker). We know they sell them at Costco but not out in our area, sadly. Came here this afternoon just for the Dubai chocolate bar as a bar form of course but you can get it in a cup as well. Sadly nowhere to sit at this location, it was 100 degrees out so our ice cream was melting fast lol. We ended up standing outside in the shade and trying to quickly finish our bar. Super delicious, it's like a dark chocolate I think which is perfect, not super sweet. The extra crunch and outer shell makes it so satisfying to eat, just like the actual Dubai chocolate bar. Afters is probably one of my favorite ice creams next to Salt and Straw! I love their unique flavors and a lot of Asian flavors (think of Wanderlust) that rotate frequently. They give a hefty scoop, the ice cream flavors are ALL delicious, and the marketing is always on point here. I really love their Ube brownie flavor if I'm feeling fruity/chocolatey and their Milk & Cereal flavor in my opinion is better than Milk Bar's ice cream flavor. I can't believe at 9pm ish, at this cold cold night people are lined up. The line is to the door, we have to come in because it was chilly outside. I find the place bare and not much color, it is not inviting. Employees are opposite though, they welcome you with all smiles and asks what you want. You can try the ice cream first before ordering. Cool I ordered half and half - Coffee and Ube Brownie. I don't think the combination is good. I like the Ube Brownie though. I'll order next time. This ice cream spot always hits for late at night, and I went with the homies. I found this place a couple years ago from Instagram for their very well known flavor of the Cookie Monster. Today I got a Cookie Monster and strawberry cookie shake (I usually get ice cream shakes) and it was a great way to end my night. Since it's been so hell-hot out, ice cream has been on my mind for obvious reasons. I didn't want to be disappointed with my choices, so when Afters came up as a suggestion, I was determined to find the perfect fix. First I checked out Guulp Liquor store since they had a decent amount of pints in several different flavors. Sadly, none of them were on my list, so I knew I would have to make an effort to visit their actual shop on Van Nuys in Sherman Oaks. I didn't want to buy a pint for $12 only to discover it was 'okay.' Be aware when you drive onto Van Nuys, there are a couple different shopping centers, so make sure you turn into the one that contains a Gelson's. I realize I have been here before when I saw the Ulta and the Burger Lounge. Afters was only a few doors down and I never paid attention to it until today. As I walked in, there was a family of four or so, which gave me plenty of time to check out their selections. I wasn't sure what exactly was in stock, so I had to wait for the one employee to finish. I did find the Salty Oreo and Frozen Hot Cocoa, but they didn't have the Peanut Butter S'more available. Since the frozen was my first choice and the Oreo my second, I figured that would be enough so I went with the double scoop, getting one of each. This was $7.50. Of course trying to get it home was a challenge, but I have to say this was really good. Although I did like the Salty Oreo, I would just go with a single of Frozen since I favored that one. It doesn't really need the Oreo crumbles in it since the marshmallows serve their purpose, but I'll still eat it. Single would be $5.50. Service was just okay. I expected it to be busier due to the weather but was pleasantly surprised by how empty it was. I'll have to inquire if they carry pints of ALL flavors on a future visit since I especially enjoyed the cocoa one. read more

Why would you get rid of frozen hot cocoa flavor??? This review has nothing to do with service of this location but solely based on the fact that they got rid of one of my favorite flavor. I came here religiously once a week for their frozen hot cocoa flavor. It was the only flavor that was not overly sweet. They replaced it with killer chocolate which is absolutely horrible. It's so sweet and left a bad taste in my mouth. Unfortunately, I will not come here again if and until they bring back frozen hot cocoa. Apparently they got rid of it to create more of a selection. Stupid idea. Why would you have killer chocolate brownie and dark matter brownie batter? They taste practically the same. The frozen hot cocoa was at least a much lighter chocolate. She said that she normally doesn't like mint ice cream but that she liked this one- and she was right! It was super light (no green food coloring!) and the cookie mixture (the "coal") was delicious and did not make my lips and teeth black. They also have an awesome social media presence and are worth following on instagram since they often post new limited time flavors there.
