Driving through the area and staying for the night, my wife and I were craving Chinese food. The hotel recommended this place, but with the limited reviews and the kinda sad look to the exterior we were a bit apprehensive. We were not disappointed! Rarely do you get something marked "spicy" at a Chinese food place that is actually spicy. That Kung Pao chicken had my lips numb for an hour. It was so unique and different and loaded with goodness. The orange chicken had a slight kick as well, and my wife loved it. The egg drop soup was also a standout. Rich in flavor, warm and yummy. I gave this place a chance after seeing some comments, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. I tried the Orange Chicken, and it was bland, mushy, and lacked flavor--almost as if it wasn't properly cooked. I wouldn't recommend it, as I was completely dissatisfied. This is a decent to good Chinese's restaurant in a sea of fast food chains. Parking is fine, the interior is somewhat dated but not unusual for a restaurant if this type. I was warmly greeted and waited on. I had wonton soup, egg rolls and a seafood based dish with fried rice. The Wonton was OK but the egg rolls were very good. My entree was ample in quantity and quality but I agree it could have used a tad more spice. One negative is they do not have a liquor license. The menu is not broad either. Now for the price, this is very good value and that counts in an age of pretense and high prices, I would say give them a try for dining in or take out. read more

We like all the food we've eaten at Hunan's our favorites are Hunan chicken or Empress chicken. Their eggs rolls are awesome. Summer and the others that work there are nice and always give good service. We highly recommend ! read more

This place is second on my Chinese restaurants in McAlester. It's good if you don't want to go across the street to the buffet. The wait time is great because no one is there much and the food is fresh. The egg drop soup is flavorful and yummy. I prefer Eat Gourmet buffet across the street though for the value. read more

**Update** Correction, they do have other noodles. They have Shrimp mein fun and it is yum Except for having only lo mein for noodles (I would really like for them to include some Chow Mei Fun option) I like pretty much everything I've ever had here. I've lived in several places, other states as well and I honestly prefer this restaurant to most other places. Other places, Chinese or otherwise, just can't match the level of service and the fact that your food is made to order, meaning it is always severely hot when you get your food. You can't get that anywhere else. It is however designed more for this area's palate meaning the level of 'heat" in their food is not high. It's light to medium generally and that is perfect for me. We LOVE the General chicken, it is perfection. If you want food that's like molten lava then just tell them, extra hot. I'm sure they can accommodate you. read more

Door states closes at 8:30 we arrived at 7:45. We all ordered something different between 3 of us. Only one other couple in the place. Our food was brought out quickly and apparently had all been microwaved to heat it up as the Crab Rangoon was chewy, the beef in one dish and the chicken in the other were chewy!! The rice was brought out in one bowl and so sticky gooey obviously microwaved! At 8:15 as we're still eating the lady actually tried to take my plate as I'm eating off of it!! You will walk in, look around and be nervous at first. Yesss, this local clientele may like their cream cheese-imitation crab-filled wontons, but have no fear these ladies have you covered. They saw the surprise, the fear in my eyes and smiled, motioned for me to have a seat and went back to the kitchen. I have eaten at Hunan's Chinese Restaurant for many years and found the food quite good . Unfortunately the quality of the food has dropped. On the bright side, they were fast and cheap. That's about it for the good things... I had a chicken dish that claimed the sauce was "tasty", but I guess we have different ways to define taste. It was bland and 95% veggies. Not enough chicken there, so that's probably why it was cheap. The rice was dry and oddly tan in color. I started with the crab meat Rangoon, but I think they should be called cream cheese Rangoon, because there was barely enough crab to say so. Certainly not enough to change the texture or tast. It was cream cheese with some pink flecks. Not sure how this place can rate over 3 stars on average. Try if you must, but here's hoping your meal is way better than mine. read more

We were in a road trip through OK and needed a little time out of the car. Hunan showed up at just the right moment. Extensive menu. They have large and small portions of everything, which was good since the kids were with us. Our waitress was great. Very attentive. Kept our drinks refilled. Generals chicken was awesome. Sweet, salty, and a little spicy...it was fantastic. Inexpensive and big portions. The service was very good and fast. I eat here when I'm going through town and it is consistently good. It is Americanized Chinese food, so don't go in expecting to get some weird exotic dish. This place closes all the time with no advance notice. The hours will say they are open but they are not there. The phones ring off the hook and no one answers and there is no machine or anything saying they are closed. This place has wasted my time and money now three times by me going there after trying to call and even see if they are there and them being closed. Fix the issues here please.
