The food was not disgusting but it also wasn't memorable by any means. Everything was bland and in desperate need of seasoning. The fried rice looked strange. It's been just over a year, and it's been rough finding something in the area that can even come close. It's gotten to the point that I wasn't even about to try Hunan Express, because of how terrible the other places in the area have been. However, I'm glad I did. The food here is not perfect, but it's decent. They have huge portions, and the food actually has flavor. Last night we ordered the General Tso's chicken, 5 pc wing combo, and sweer & Sour chicken. We also ordered fried wontons, and the meals came with egg rolls and soup. The General Tso's chicken came in a container filled to the brim with pork fried rice. The chicken could've been crispier, and less saucy, but it was decent. I feel like if I specified how I wanted it, they could easily adjust it for me as other have in the past. I just don't like my chicken swimming in the sauce. The sweet & sour chicken was spot on, and actually tasted similar to the carryouts around where I grew up at. A little soy sauce on the chicken and the salty from the soy sauce goes well with the sweet and sour combination of the sauce. The wontons were meh! Hard over fried and not that good, but the hot and sour soup was on the money. The egg rolls were decent, but a little greasy. I wish they were crispier, but outside of having to remove some of the grease they were pretty good. The wings were also solid, my only hold up is that they break the wings down into flats and drumsticks and count them each. So a 5 pc wing is only 2.5 wings (3 flats and 2 drumsticks or vice versa), and the fries were soggy. I feel like even though the food isn't perfect, it's still solid. It's not just completely bland or bad. I'm okay with adding soy sauce to something I feel needs a boost, but I am against food that is just not prepared well, and I think that's where Hunan Express edges the other guys out. On top of that the store is clean, and that's something I feel you have to pay attention to these days. The thing is I'm not looking for authentic Chinese cuisine, I'm looking for good Chinese carryout food. I'm looking for something quick and reliable, on a night when I'd rather hang with the kids and be lazy. I can't say that this is going to be our new weekly replacement, but atleast between here, and 2 other spots that require some driving, we can get by...overall I'd give the food a 6.5 - MAYBE 7 out of 10

I've visited Goodie's multiple times, and after I finished each meal, there was no question I knew my next visit was right around the corner. My favorite is the Spicy shrimp & broccoli ( if that's a dish you enjoy, then you have to give Goodie's a try ) my preference is to swap out the white rice for fried rice ( try it ! ) and when I tell you Goodie's shrimp are textured just right with some nice size solid shrimp that don't go all mushy on you. And when I'm in the mood for something different, I grab me a fish & cheese sub... you can't miss with either choice !!! FYI: The mix tea is also a must grab to wash your meal down ( thumbs up for sure )

Meals are large-portioned and a good value at the prices they charge. Ingredients are fresh, and dishes are generally delicious. Some selections are not the best we've ever had, but we've never had a bad meal. The atmosphere here is very good also- everything from the detailing of the chairs, the mirrors, comfortable and stylish wall seating, to the dimmer lighting. Good place for a first date, or special anniversary. We plan on coming back here again and again. With that said, looking at this restaurant's overall reviews, and some specific comments made from past patrons, I hope customers will come back and give this establishment a second or third try- this place really is a gem, and I'd hate for a great sit-down restaurant like East Moon to go under because of one bad experience with past visits. Noise level was mostly moderate, with a quick sprinkle of loud when that bigger group got going, but nothing crazy, still totally fine for a date or a relaxed lunch. My wife ordered the A2 (slices of eye of round steak, well-done flank, and soft tendon). I got the A6 (eye of round steak and soft tendon). The pho was good, the broth had a lot of flavor. I did order extra noodles because while I like the pho here, the portions are a little smaller compared to some other spots we go to. I loaded mine up with bean sprouts, tore up some basil, and let the jalapeños sit in the bowl for a bit for heat. Lately though, I've been more about the chili oil, which they'll bring out if you ask. We also got shrimp summer rolls, which are always a go-to for me when eating pho anywhere. These were fresh, great texture, and the basil really pops. The peanut sauce is one of the best parts. Honestly, I could come here just for the summer rolls and that sauce. I also grabbed a taro smoothie, lightly sweet and creamy, solid choice. Food came out fast, maybe 8 minutes after ordering. Service here is consistently good. Parking can be a little tight since it's tucked behind a Rita's and the layout is kind of awkward, but even when it's full you're not walking far, just a compact lot.
