My spouse ordered this food from Uber eats we ordered general tso chicken and we had to buy one get one free as as soon as I took a bite, the general tso tasted like it was cooked in fish oil! We have bounced around the menu to find our favorite meal. The crab Rangoon and egg drop soup are always a solid choice. I have landed on the broccoli with garlic sauce - medium, definitely needs the extra 'kick'. They offer great service... I choose to order online- they follow up with a text that it will be ready in 30 min, they follow up with a '20 minute text' almost immediately, and actually call you if it's done sooner. I am not sure what is going on with this place -- most nights I would give them 10 stars if I could -- but this is the second time I have ordered sweet n sour shrimp and been served burnt over-fried shrimp. It was clearly too done -- yet they boxed it and sent it out the door. I do not understand serving something you KNOW to be wrong. The rest of the $65 order was fantastic -- and everyone loved their items.. It was only the Shrimp that seemed to have an issue. On a side note, they have switched noodles they serve for the soup - -and these new ones are more uniform -- but taste stale. It's very curious why this chinese restaurant has such a low rating. This is about the 5th time we have ordered from here and each time the food comes out perfectly as ordered. It's a traditional chinese restaurant and each item delivered is prepared excellently. The General Tsao's chicken is perfectly crisp and the fried rice has nice chunks of pork in it. The sweet and sour chicken is my sons favorite and it comes crisp every single time. Our other sone loves the bourbon chicken and the flavor is really good every time. We normally go with the combination plates since it comes with fried rice and an eggroll. The eggrolls come nice and crisp and they always throw in a ton of sauces and fortune cookies. I'm a huge fan of the shrimp fried rice and the hot and sour soup. My husband likes the chicken and broccoli; however, if you're hungry - order the quart size. The pint size could serve as an appetizer. I am not a fan of the sesame chicken. The sauce does not taste right and the chicken is usually dry. I've lived up the street from Hunan king for as long as it's been open. i'm going to start off with the (only) positive thing, I ordered shrimp fried rice add mushrooms, Broccoli and bean sprouts with chicken wings. The vegetables were fresh and the shrimp was fresh. Their rice was crunchy, the chicken wings tasted like the were cooked in old Fish grease. Before I start I want to say that I do very much like Asian food. I feel as if there's only a couple places I can go to without second guessing their food. However with this place , I've been here a total of three times in my life and the food is not good to me. The whole time I'm eating it I keep thinking to myself "is this food going to make me sick later" 2 out of three times I've eaten here I've gotten sick. Just old food . Our go to for Chinese takeout. Food is normally great, sometimes heavy in the onions though, which we don't love. The egg rolls and spring rolls are the best. The steamed pork dumpings come with this sweet and spicy dipping sauce that is just heavenly. You could make a meal out of just those, they are so good and filling. The fried donuts are a great dessert for the kids. So far, we haven't had anything we didn't like. From last week to this, my order went up by a dollar. I asked when the price changed and was told over a month ago. I replied to the young man that he charged me a dollar less only last Tuesday. So this place has been around since i have moved to this side of town 12 years ago, and yet they only have four reviews. Let me tell you about my experiences, and it may explain why. Normal mom and pop Chinese take out joint, sometimes a one man show, sometimes has his to young sons working the cash register and answering phones. Food is hit or miss, but the customer service lately has been beyond poor. My last experience should have really been my last experience but it is right around the corner from me and cheap. I ordered three dinner combos for the family, told me it was going to be ten minutes, i go inside tell them what i ordered. They said that they were waiting for the cashew chicken, everything else was done and in the bag, 5 minutes later i asked again and one of his sons said they were still waiting on it. So i pointed out the fact that 20$ worth of food was sitting there chilling away while other customers food was coming out, and the kid who may not even be in high school wanted to argue with me and said that food is sealed and it will be fine, and also said you paid for it mysawell wait for it and then told me to go somewhere else the next time if i didn't like it, in front of his father who is the cook/owner who just stared at me. Should of listened. Two months later, which was actually today i decided to try it again. I had to call twice to get a hold of someone, ordered two pepper steak with onion lunch combos. Once again was told ten minutes. I walk in and they are semi busy. A young couple was at the counter drawing on the menu....Not sure if they were waiting on a order or what. One man was in the kitchen(owner) and that was it, I see him getting two containers ready, then going back and working on two more ignoring me and the couple at counter. Then some man comes in goes behind the counter and starts talking to the owner at the counter in their native tongue, not once acknowledging any customers. I finally said is that my food, pointing to the one he was working on before he was interrupted. He said no this yours in a very rude tone and shaking his head at me, i told him how about you stop talking and let your customer pay for it, referring to myself. I get in my car, drive off to realize they forgot the egg rolls, i had to drive back. I finally get home to have to two half ass portions of pepper steak with onions, which one to clarify had 3 medium pieces of steak and onions and peppers that were just as crunchy as if you ate one whole right from the garden. Let me start by saying, I loved Hunan King!!! The food is great. I live very close there along with working very close by just as well. So going there to eat for lunch or dinner was very convient to go for. TODAY 07/03/2014 I ordered shrimp fried rice in which I love... I took 4 bites of it and decided I was going to use soy sauce. Before pouring my soy sauce in my meal, I took my fork and stirred my food a little... And what do you know!!! A DEAD BEETLE WAS IN MY FOOD UPDSIDE DOWN!!! I could not believe what I saw. I started shaking and freaking out. Thank god I was eating in my car for my break so I had the opportunity to go back inside and take the food back in and get my money back!!!! I am very upset at this point because I lived by this place for over 3 years and me and my fiance has eaten there maybe over 40 times!!! I called him immediately after taking my food back inside and getting my refund to tell him to never go back there. I am not sure how the bug got into the food considering they cook everything in front of you and fry the rice all together. It's not like there is rice sitting there and they serve it to you that way. NO they cook it all together. OMG. I am back from my break now at work typing this review and I am far from happy right now. The beetle that was in food was the ones that fall upside down and then die!!!
