Tastes good and cozy place! And they close late if you want to grab a drink at night this is the place!

Got take out from here using pick up on Door dash. The food was pretty tasty and a good amount for the price! We got the hunan style fried noodles and chairman mao pork. I'd get the noodles again, but didn't love the pork. Pork was a bit too fatty for me and didn't seem to have a ton of flavor. Noodles were really good though. Overall would give this place another try.

The food was absolutely amazing. Honestly the best Chinese food I've ever had. The Hunan style lamb was very refreshing and the flavors were fantastic. The spicy beef noodles were not too spicy and were really flavorful and delicious. It all came out very quickly as well. I will 100% be back just for the food and I live over 4 hours away!

Ambiance: a friendly modern hunan restaurant with lots of seating and a dim environment. Service: extremely attentive and fast. The food was brought out incredibly fast. Food: I ordered the spicy beef noodle soup with rice noodles. The soup was incredibly flavorful and spicy. The noodles were tender and chewy. Highly recommend

Really fresh and tasty! The price-to-food ratio is also decent in the current market. My favorites: -string beans -eggplant w/ string beans -bok choy My friend liked their ma po tofu, but she said that the numbing spice (not sure what it's called) was a little heavy. Just FYI...

After ordering, the food delivered quickly , literally as the men ran to and from with the generous portions of foods. Food was tasty, savory and packed with flavors & heat! Great vibe, with excellent service! Excellent Eggplant & Beans, Lamb & Pork Hock.

I was in Davis and got hungry and looked for a restaurant I've never tried before. Found Hunan Style. Never heard or read about this place so coming in blind. Ordered the Hunan style sautéed beef and the Hunan style fried noodles with shrimp. First with the noodles, there is nothing special about it. It's like any chow mein I've had before. I do like the smoky flavor from the wok. My favorite is the sautéed beef. It was tender and flavorful and spicy. I think I requested medium spicy and it's okay for me. Had leftover that I brought home and my sister liked it too. Ordered takeout of Hunan spicy chicken and this one I do not recommend. I feel like there is not a lot of chicken in proportion to the dried chilies. Plus there were bones and the way it was coated one may think it's all chicken but when you bite into it you may crack a tooth. Service was good and the person who helped me made recommendations what to try when I mentioned I am coming back. Next time I will try the beef fried rice and the scrambled eggs and tomatoes. Other recommendations were organic chicken in spicy oil, sautéed pork enoki mushroom fungus and egg, country style dried bean curd with pork, sautéed eggplant with string beans, and sautéed baby bok choy pot. Spacious and a bit dim inside. If you like spicy and feeling adventurous try this place. Thank you.

    Bones!!!!

This place is awful, plain and simple. I got the hunan spicy chicken, just awful. Dry, no sauce at all, worst of all?? It had bones in it. Not just one bone, more like, every piece of chicken either had a bone on it or cartilage. Gross. If this is traditional hunan, I'll stick with the frozen food aisle at trader joes. Ya feel me

If you like spicy food, you must go here! Always parking available which is helpful. A lot of people, so the service was a little slow. Great authentic Hunan style in Sacramento area. Really enjoy the large gallon size of water container at the table you get because you will feel the spice at some point. I recommend getting the eggplant with green beans ($14.95) since it very fresh, cooked nicely, not spicy at all. The spicy flounder fish ($24.95) is indeed SPICY, will numb your mouth but does go away, the sauce does contain a lot of veggie options such as bean sprouts, wood ear mushroom, king oysters which is worth it for portion size and ingredients in the meal. Dan Dan noodles ($12.95) were alright, just mixed in with diced pickled mustard greens. Overall, the food was spicy and fresh.

Very spicy! Since it is pretty authentic Hunan cuisine, expect all their best dishes to be hot and numbing. Hunan spicy chicken: B+ Quite tasty, usually one of the popular human dishes here amongst the American palate. Tiny bites of chicken that aren't too spicy unless you also eat the peppers straight up. Boiled fish with chili: A- I always recommend this dish to people who haven't tried legit Hunan food before. Hunan style beef: B+ Tender beef, lots of cilantro. Really good over rice but was a bit spicy for me to handle. Griddle cooked chicken w/ Mexican peppers: B I think the Mexican peppers were jalapeno. This dish and some other chicken dishes have small bones attached which is common in China, I'm not quite a fan of the extra work it takes to eat and spit them out.

Friendly service, good food. This place is one of the two Hunan style Chinese food restaurants on campus, so it's quite popular, especially among Chinese students. The interior is bare minimum, tables and chairs, not much wall decor, so the food is the focus. The menu has a lot of authentic Hunan dishes. Hunan is a province in China that a little of their food is spicy, oily and heavy on taste. But you can ask them to be less oil and less salt. We ordered beef fried rice, pan fried egg with tomato soup, pork slices with mushrooms stir-fry, Mao's pork knuckles, and garlic bean sprouts. The fried rice has dark soy sauce but it's not spicy at all. The soup is very generous in portions and it has a huge piece of pan fried egg and some chopped tomatoes. The Mao's pork knuckles is good! Very soft and flavorful. The pork slices with mushrooms is a bit spicy although it's not visible. I was the least impressed with this dish. Service is good. We arrived ahead of our friend's schedule and they didn't rush us to make orders. Food also came out fast. I wouldn't say the price is super affordable for college kids, but the quality is good.

Came here twice in 2 weeks! Now my fav go-to spot for Chinese food in Davis! My favs are the cumin lamb, spicy fish soup, and pork & mushroom! Service is great and fast.

This place is a must-try if you enjoy spicy food, specifically the spicy food that numbs your mouth. My group came in on a Saturday evening, and we were quickly seated. The servers were friendly and the food came out quickly. The dining space felt very casual and cozy, which matches the fact they serve comfort food. Here are the foods I tried: -Organic Chicken in Spicy Oil: (5/5) Highly recommended if you are looking for something spicy. This food made my mouth numb, but it was still able to maintain being flavorful. The chicken is served cool, which is a nice contrast to how spicy it is. -Beef Fried Rice: (4/5) This isn't as flavorful and it was just standard beef fried rice. It is not spicy, but very filling. This dish was nice to have though especially since we were eating other spicy dishes. -Dan Dan Noodles: (4/5) These noodles had a nutty taste to them and the texture of the noodles was cooked well. Really happy with this order.

And I will say it was for good reason that they showed up. Every single item that we had the salt and pork spare ribs, the shrimp soup dumplings, the traditional soup dumplings, the green beans with garlic sauce, the wontons and chili oil and sauce, and my Thai milk tea. Every single item was just fresh number one and two the flavors were so like bursting in your mouth but they all complimented each other. We ordered a lot of food and each time I tried something it still tasted as good even when it started to cool down a little bit. I will say my favorite item though, because I do like a little bit more spice but I would like things to be flavorful as well, was The wonton with the chili oil and sauce. The feeling was just the perfect amount when you took a bite you got a little bit of the meat portion but the sauce because it was covering it so nicely with a little bit of the crunch it just was a great mix of textures and flavors and the chili oil itself wasn't spicy it was just flavorful it had spices. I will say the group of three eight pretty much everything except maybe one spare rib. We almost had to roll ourselves out of there but it was so worth it and I would highly recommend checking this place out but word of caution do not go if you are hungry because again this place is popular and you might have to wait so make sure you have a good amount of time and that you're allowing yourself to really enjoy the space and try out all the deliciousness.

My kid mentioned they usually are very pack and people would dine outdoor, but I guess we arrived early so there wasn't any wait time. Ordered few items, food came out very fast and the tastes are not bad at all. Beef Fried Rice Noodles: How do you differentiate if this dish is good or not, it is about how much excessive oil that's left on the plate. The stir fried was good, not too greasy, and they marinate the meat well. Unlike other Chinese restaurants, this place's meat was good. Only they could stir fried with even higher eat to create more "wok air" Sticky Rice Stick with Brown Sugar: First time trying this dish, so not sure what to expect. But it does seem to be a dessert to me, my comment would be higher if the rice stick is more chewy. Hot & Sour Shredded Potato: This is common dish from northern part of China. The way they prepared was awesome. The potato was not starchy and the seasoning is just right. A bit greasy but this is actually my favorite dish! Shrimp and Pork with Chives Dumplings: Meat is fresh and dumpling wrap is great too. Each dumpling size is not too big and wasn't torn. Taste is okay but maybe try another filling if I visit again. I would come again to try out other things on the menu if I'm visiting my kid again.

We walked in and weren't sure if we sat ourselves or not. A server came out and showed us to a table with menus after a minute. It did take a little while for her to come back and take our order. We each ordered an XL bowl of phở ($18). I got the flank steak (tái) and she got the vegetarian (chay). The phở was delicious! The ratio of meat to noodles was appropriate. The add-ins (beansprouts, basil, lime and jalapeño slices) were the perfect amount for 2 bowls. We didn't eat the jalapeños, but we didn't leave anything else on the plate. I hate wasting food. I read that the service here is what is lacking. Our server came by twice to check on us, but didn't refill our glasses until I asked. She was the only one working the floor while we were there. It was busy enough that the noise level was high at times and then it lulled to just us talking. She didn't clear away our bowls and wasn't super attentive, but we didn't mind because we were catching up. As we were getting ready to leave, another worker came in, but the no one came out in the front for at least 10 minutes. One couple came in, sat down, looked at a menu and then left because no one even acknowledged them. Overall for us, we had a great experience. Food was yummy. That being said, it's pretty cleaned and well maintained. Now for the food: we ordered the passion grapefruit jasmine tea with aloe, beef noodle soup, the cold noodles with peanut sauce, and the pan fried dumpling. The drink was standard, though a little sweet for my liking. Next time we'll adjust the sweetness to be a little bit lower. The aloe was strangely very mushy and not very enjoyable. The cold noodles with peanut sauce were a little disappointing. I found it to be overwhelmingly, salty, though the rest of it tasted fine. I enjoyed the beef noodle soup more, especially once you added the pickled mustard greens. The noodle texture was not my favorite, but soup was pretty good and the beef was well cooked. Overall, it really itched that scratch and I was satisfied. Both noodle dishes were hefty. It doesn't look like a lot of food because it comes out in plastic containers, but we were pretty satisfied by the amount of food that we got. The star of the show were definitely the pan fried buns. They were super crispy and well fried on the outside, and the inside was delicious. Lots of juice, well seasoned, perfectly cooked in my opinion. To be honest, we were just OK with the meal until we ate these pan fried buns! Will definitely return to try more buns and bowels and some other dishes that they have on the menu.
