Food (3/5) - on the greasier side so would have been good hangover food. the dishes started tasting similar to us, perhaps we don't have as refined of a taste. the sauce for the refillable noodles was good but also spicy, so it all blended a lot. great for people who want spicy food though, it definitely offered that in droves and was pungent and flavourful. Service (4/5) - fairly prompt, even with the noodle and rice refills. water was tougher. Price (4/5) - decent deal for the area Ambiance (3/5) - a little sticky even though the place was new. otherwise brightly lit, good environment to talk as not too loud.

This is a cute tapas bar in Astoria w/chill service - you aren't rushed at all. They have a heated outdoor space but naaahhhh...it's too cold (I was shocked folks still venture to eat outside - they were setting up for an outdoor seating that was due to arrive) Y'all, I fcked up! If you pay with cash, it's 3.5% off however, b/c it was still Happy hour (M-F! Until 7PM )...still felt like a win... But now for the food and dranks..yous already know, it's probably not in order... Barrel aged Remington...(kinda like an elevated Old Fashioned) Mai Tai PA (NOT your traditional Mai Thai) Bar Dalia Punch (kinda like a strong + pretty RunPunch) Beef empanda Yuca fries (I've never been a fan BUT these were GOOD) Crispy Brussel sprouts (I am a sucka for sprouts so obviously, I HAD to get it) Calamari (this wasn't the best but then again, didn't eat it fast enough) Honey Sriracha Chicken Bites (call me a punk but this was spppiiicccccyyy even if it was tasty) Glad that I was able to go back to 'basics' w/a lil flaiiiirrrr

The cash discount basically takes out the cents for most items. I got the calamari (crispy) and Brussel sprouts (nicely charred, a little on the salty side) which were both good.

It's a fairly large restaurant. We ordered cocktails, few tapas and the steak. I would've ordered another entree but they were out of dish after dish that I would've tried.. well it turned out to be enough food since the omelette dish was so dense and I filled up on bread. The best dish was the shrimp with garlic tapa which I usually wouldn't bother ordering but I've already tried most of the menu. Lots of garlic. Really tasty ..dipped the oil with the bread. We were sitting there for a while, waiting for our drinks and other food but nothing came out so I wanted more bread since I was starving. My first meal that day. One the guys brought more bread for us quickly. The steak and omelette finally came. I would never order the omelette dish but L wanted to try it and it was tapas Tuesday so there was a slight discount. Very bland. Not enough egg, too much potato, very dry so we spooned a lil of the garlic oil from the shrimp dish and it helped a lot. I had a lil but L ate the rest. Salad was good but it was overdressed. The steak was a lil bit bloody in the middle even though we ordered it medium so it wasn't as good as we had it before. We still didn't get our cocktails because the bartender lady kept making margaritas which were only $5 that day instead of our $17 drinks. Someone came past 7:30pm and our waitress said he was gonna make our drinks. The drinks were pretty good but we already finished our food. Usually I would have ordered one of each cocktail at Sala but I was full and had other places to go. The slow service and the unavailability of certain dishes has impacted my recommendation to others but I still like the drinks here and we did enjoy the gambas tapa dish a lot..

We asked that they include the croquettes among the tapas and we chose the squid ink paella. The croquettes, pork, brussel sprouts, and potato were all perfect and exceptional. The tees leches cake was perfectly moist and not overly sweet as well. I wish there was a little more seafood in the paella l, but the taste was still amazing. The bruschetta and asparagus were delicious, but left something to be desired compared to the other dishes. The bartender was amazing (we sat at the bar), but very busy, so service was a little slow.

I was greeted greatly, even with only a few minutes before last call for dinner service. The server and the bartender was reallt friendly and knowledgeable with the menu. Gave me really great options. For food I had the Spanish Olives, Pop a La Pedra, & the Croquetes Del Dia(made fresh every day and changes as well). I had a old fashion to drink, needed something that will warm me up for the cold weather. The ambiance was cute, and chic. You can tell that the workers run it like a little food family and I love that the most about El Born. Will definitely come again ans try out their brunch , heard it was amazing.
