The server was rude and not polite or helpful. Did not want to answer any questions about portions or recommendations. How could this be Michelin recommended.? Food was bland not enough salt. I had the stir fried fish with veggie. Hated it!!! The tea smoke duck fried rice! Hated it!!! I don't recommend.

Few pieces of broccoli are a joke! Is this a kids portion?

Lunch menu sautéed broccoli is a small portion. I ordered two lunch specials and the soup wasn't filled to the top of plastic container. This restaurant is stingy with their small portions. Is this a kids menu?

I came here for their lunch service and had a great time! The inside of the restaurant is cozy, warm, and has seating for different party sizes. Service was really quick and nice. I got the sticky rice siu mai, the crab XLB, stir-fried noodles, sichuan chicken, and sweet and sour pork ribs. Everything was phenomenal. I thought that the sticky rice siu mai and XLB stood out the most. The sticky rice siu mai was full of flavor and chewy. The crab XLB was abundant with crab and the soup broth was so rich. Loved how crispy the sichuan chicken was! And, while the noodles and ribs were also delicious, I did think they were a bit on the drier side. Nonetheless, I still loved everything and would definitely come back.

Great schezuan food! The mapo tofu I thought was a little bland but their apps (pictured) were great! And great sizes for the portions. They had a lot of vegetables as entrees, for example: broccoli, eggplant etc. I wish they had more vegetarian carby options or tofu options but you can definitely comfortably eat there.

I came here on a Thursday evening with a party of 4. we ordered the bang bang chicken, crispy fish filet, mala prawns, garlic peashoots, mala dry pot, and garlic peashoots. the food was amazing, delicious, and everything you'd expect in a szechaun cuisine service was prompt and ambiance was good. would recommend coming here!

Best crispy fish fillet in the city! Super fresh and perfectly spicy. The mustard green fried rice, green beans, and garlic eggplant were all amazing. Food comes out super quick, and the servers are incredibly attentive especially with water refills. They even gave us complimentary lava buns for my birthday!

Really disappointing and not authentic! We were super excited to go here given their history of receiving Michelin Bib Gourmands, but every dish we tried fell flat. The soup dumplings were the best part and definitely worth coming for, although they don't serve any ginger with it, and told us there was none in the back (HUGE red flag for an authentic Chinese restaurant). Cumin lamb was just dry, mapo tofu was bland (of all things), tea smoked duck was DRY... how do you mess up duck? The other good dish was the fried green beans but... they're green beans. Service was alright, kind of standoffish, and the decor was pleasant and relaxing. Would not come back.

HUPO is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the Queen, the food is delicious, the flavor and the spiciness of the dishes combines so well together, their cocktails are equally great and the service is top tier, HUPO is better than words can describe. Every time I visit I try a new dish and they always hit the spot.

My friend and I were able to walk in right away on a Sunday evening, which was nice. However, the service was slow, everything was so, so salty, drinks didn't taste that flavorful, and overall was just an okay experience. We had lots of leftovers and I brought them home but they were so salty that it was actually kind of hard to eat; I basically ate rice with each bite.. Not sure if we ordered the wrong dishes or came on a bad day but yea ):

We made a reservation for a Wednesday night, which was easy to get and ended up being unnecessary; the restaurant was maybe half full when we arrived at 7:30. The interior is small but pleasant, and the column of Michelin stickers on the window as we walked in the front door was a cool flex and a welcome sight! I got the Chungking Spicy Chicken and a small side of white rice -- a simple order, since the entree consisted solely of small pieces of lightly fried chicken and dried peppers. The spice was real, and the chicken was amazing. Delicately fried, immensely flavorful, and hard to beat texture-wise, as it practically melted in my mouth as I ate it. It was massive portion, too, so points to Hupo for value as well. The mapo tofu was also well-received, with lots of flavor and a nice kick. Hupo talks a big game, as evidenced by their website and even their business name, and they certainly walk the walk. Looking forward to coming back!

The fried fish was good and the mapo tofu was decent! Wish it was spicier!! Service was good and ambiance was fine.

Still love this spot, but this time, some of the food was a bit salty. Also, given their megillah of a menu, having to scroll through the entire menu on a phone was rather cumbersome and annoying. For apps, we got the: Shrimp Dumplings (4): Pretty standard issue, tasty. Eggplant with Garlic Dressing - fresh eggplant mixed house special garlic sauce with chili oil: This was a little salty, but super super flavorful - tender and very garlicky (yum!) Bang Bang Chicken - Red meat chicken mixed with house special chili sauce, sesame paste and peppercorn oil: also a tad bit salty, but with a very nice kick - and the pairing with cucumber on the bottom of the dish is a great refresher. For Mains, my folks got the Sautéed Duck with Ginger and the Spicy Cumin Lamb, while I went for the Stewed Beef in Hot Chili Soup. All very tasty (and the sautéed duck was amazingly smoky). Decent portion sizes, though, as they note, rice not included with the mains. And for a sweet ending, we got the Green tea Ice Cream and Strawberry Dragon Eggs. The green tea ice was some of the better I've recent had, and loved the ample amount of crushed oreos in the dragon eggs. All and all, aside from some slightly annoying hiccups, Hupo is still my favorite local Szechuan/Chinese spot.

    Mapo tofu 麻婆豆腐

Came by for dinner on Sunday with a friend. We didn't have a reservation but there were just a handful of tables open when we got there around 7pm (so probably best to make a res). We ordered: Chungking spicy chicken (重慶辣子雞) - this was so good! The chicken was crispy yet tender on the inside, and I thought that the spice level was at a good (authentic) level. Also, I was pleasantly surprised how much chicken there was (a lot of restaurants seem to give you something more like a bowl of peppers with a little bit of chicken lol). I think price point was high for the portionsize, but regardless, I'd definitely recommend this. Mapo tofu (麻婆豆腐): Pretty good. I thought the flavour was pretty rich throughout, but it wasn't really spicy. The tofu was very soft and silky, which was nice, but overall it felt like a generic tofu side dish rather than a classic spicy/szechuan staple. Considering that it was a vegetarian dish (e.g. no ground pork/beef), it did seem to be a bit pricey. Szechuan garlic pork (蒜泥白肉): A good non-spicy complement to the other dishes. The pork was soft and flavourful, and it paired nicely with the light soy-sauce/garlic sauce. It was quite salty, though, and really had to be eaten with some rice to balance that out. Considering the price point (I think this was an appetiser?), the portion size was quite considerable and probably should count as a full entree. Overall, a pretty good meal. Price point leaned a bit high, but still fairly reasonable. It would be nice to come back to try some other dishes next time. (I saw that some of their cocktails seemed very intriguing!)

This food is so good! The scallion pancakes are crispy and flavorful. The mapo tofu is so good I can't stop thinking about it.

The biggest question then became, where to go? We needed a place that was relatively easy to get to that would hold close to 100 people. Jungly was a contender for several reasons - it's location, size, vibe, and menu all seemed to check off. It also helped that I had done business with the owner previously at one of his other spots. It seemed like the natural choice, so I went ahead with the booking. Jungly is located in LIC - it's a pretty convenient spot as its close to the LIRR and the subway. Parking can be a challenge, but luckily I found a spot only a block away. The space itself is nicely set up - walking in you're immediately greeted by the bar area with dining areas both to the left and the right. Due to our size, they closed the place to the public and we were able to freely roam the bar area and one of the dining rooms. In addition to standard tables, they have some lounge space and high tops by the bar. The vibe is somewhat modern - a black/grey color scheme paired with neon and golds. It looks like the space could easily be converted to a club-like atmosphere. Since we were here for a private event, the food was set up buffet style - we chose three apps, four mains, and two sides. Ultimately, for apps we chose pita bread with dips, steak tacos, and shrimp tacos. For mains we chose fried chicken sliders, smashed beef sliders, cacio e pepe, and roasted chicken. For sides, we got fries and Brussels sprouts. In general, all of the food was tasty; the strongest dishes were the tacos, fries, and the chicken tacos. The tacos were generously filled, the fries were the crispy skin style, and the chicken sliders were nice and crispy. The weakest for me was the cacio e pepe - not much flavor and just not really a standout IMO. My communication with management to set up the event were a little staccato, though in the end everything worked out. For the most part, my communication with them was consistent in the days leading up to the event. Service the night of the event was overall good - they were very accessible but I found that they could have replenished the food a little faster in response to the rate it was being taken from the buffet. The bar, on the other hand, was great - both in service and variety of liquor available. Overall, we had a great event at Jungly. They were professional, fair, and delivered on the goods. I would definitely consider hosting another event there, or dine here on my own.

The bartender, the one person who should be welcoming and engaging, came across as rude and lacked any charisma. On a Friday night, good energy behind the bar makes a huge difference, and that was completely missing. I ordered a margarita, which is one of the simplest and most common cocktails to make. I asked for it really sweet with plenty of salt on the rim. Instead, it came out barely sweet and with almost no salt. For a $17 margarita, I expected much better. I've had to return the drink because I've had better margaritas for $12 at other places. While waiting for my friend, I had to wait with a glass of water because I didn't trust the way they made the drink. The bartender told me I either needed to order another drink or move, which felt unnecessarily rude and unwelcoming. To be fair, the food was good and the space itself is nice. However, the bar service left a very poor impression. There are plenty of more affordable places where the staff are friendly and make guests feel welcome.
