Hungry Ghost is a local NYC coffee chain with locations in both Manhattan and Brooklyn. From what is advertised, they use Stumptown Coffee beans to craft their coffee drinks. After a late lunch nearby, my friend and I stopped by Hungry Ghost for a coffee. The interior doesn't have a whole lot of seating, but we were able to grab a couple stool seats by the window. HONEY VANILLA CINNAMON LATTE There was a simple lily pad latte art, which was speckled with cinnamon dust. The drink itself was fine. Not too sweet, the vanilla blended well with the cinnamon. The espresso flavor wasn't very strong, unfortunately. It's nice that Hungry Ghost is on inKind, so I was able to pay using the app and save a bit of money. Overall, not bad. Good place to chill and people watch if you have the time. read more

I needed to get some work done and stopped by this coffee shop. The space is nice with a good amount of seating as well. The part that really annoyed me was that they didn't have outlets to charge your laptop or phone. In addition, they also do not have any bathrooms. I guess they really don't want people to linger and hang out. I just had a Chai Latte ($6) and my friend had the Hibiscus Tea ($5), which felt pricey for a small cup. read more

Came here with a group of runners and thought the cafe's aesthetic was nice and modern yet it couldn't even house a bathroom, so I had to speed walk across the street to Joe & the Juice who graciously let me use theirs even though I was a passive customer. The interiors of Hungry Ghost are showroom cute, but not ideal for a long term stay-stool esque seats with no backing and odd spacing from the counter to the island that houses all the drink companion essentials-lid, napkins, milk. The drinks and pastries are overpriced given the quality and portion size, but you're just paying for the nice location and the overhead. The almond croissant was memorable (highly doubt they bake this in house), however the Honey Vanilla Cinnamon Latte was lowkey disgusting-you can't combine different, random sweet flavors and assume it'll taste good. My friend ordered a matcha latte, and you can just tell from the shade of green that...this is not the place for matcha or anything that is not coffee. read more

It was the first nice day in a while since the cold days so there were lines everywhere for all the popular west village coffee spots. Hungry ghost had a smaller line than most so I decided to give it a try. I got their honey cinnamon vanilla latte iced and it wasn't bad! I wish it was a bit sweeter but overall it satisfied what I needed. If I ever needed a quick fix this would be a good spot. read more

3.5! My friend and I took a pitstop here to get in some needed hydration. My order was an iced latte with almond milk. My friend got the iced matcha latte. I appreciated that they were frothing the matcha with a whisk (instead of using the electric frother). Things I didn't appreciate - both drinks tasted okay. I think the espresso-milk-ice ratio was off such that we both felt like we were drinking flavored chilled milk. read more

This is a cute and cozy coffee shop. It had seating indoors in the front and some in the back. It is a smaller shop so it can get crowded fast I am sure. Did have ti wait sorta a long time for my drink but it was the weekend. I got a drink off the seasonal specials menu it was the honey vanilla cinnamon latte. I asked the barista if it's better hot or iced so I went with hot as she said that was better. She was very nice. read more

The coffee is good, but I found the service to be kind of rude. The guy who took my order didn't seem to care to be there. On his phone while I ordered and didn't let me know my beverage was ready. Really cute coffee spot. There's a nice variety of teas too, if coffee isn't your thing. The cafe has ample seating and isn't as crowded as the surrounding cafes, so it's a nice option to have after a day of shopping or walking in the area. read more

While the ambiance and decor were cute, the service, price and amenities were unimpressive. While tastey, $6+ for the smallest cappuccino I've ever had. Ordered with oat milk substitution ($0.50 upcharge, standard), the barista began making with cows milk and I had to have them remake it. Staff was very disengaged. Also, no public restroom!! Rating this establishment left me in a conundrum...we will have to separate ambience from customer service. We came here before heading to the iconic Friends apartment facade. We needed coffee. We drink plain black americano. That's always easy for the baristas. It was good. The pastries we had were also good. However, my three stars lean more toward customer service. The baristas need some improvement in this department. Additionally, I needed to wash my hands before eating my pastry, yet, there wasn't a restroom available for me to use. We had gotten off the Path and was walking to the East Village to meet some friends. I needed a coffee because I knew it would be a late night. Instead of checking on Google or Yelp for a coffee place in the area, I decided to just stop in the Hungry Ghost because it was across the street. They serve Stumptown coffee, so I wasn't concerned about the quality of the coffee. The coffee was good. Of course, it's Stumptown on tap. This place has such a fun and impressive vibe to it! It was quiet in the perfect way! They brew stumptown coffee and the cappuccino I got had an awesome ratio of espresso to milk while still tasting like coffee. It had a perfect temperature to it as well. I was walking along with my friend and we were happily lost. We were also very tired and we wanted a coffee. So we decided to check this place out because of the logo. We thought it was cute. We found it funny how it said "hungry ghost" yet it had a wolf? as a logo. The guy behind the counter was nice and straightforward. He made us a chai and a latte. The beans used in this coffee shop are from stump town coffee roasters. The latte had a nutty flavor to it, it wasn't too acidic or bitter. it had a high price tag of $6, but the contrary to the previous yelper who said the latte pour was bad, it was delicious. I really dont care much for the latte art. I care more about the flavor. Flavor tops everything and it was good. My friend said the chai wasnt too spicy and it was one of the best she had. So overall, this place had perhaps one of the best drinks in West Village. I also wanted to purchase a coffee cup from miir with the coffee shops logo on it. but I thought I could find it online. I did sadly could not, (to whoever runs the website, if you guys could put that merch on the website and sell it, I would happily buy one). The atmosphere had a wonderful vibe with people reading a book, or studying. The only downsides are that is there is no bathroom and no outlets so just a heads up to the people who wish to study here. read more

My lovely bride and I stopped in for a couple cups of coffee before the play down the street at the Lucille Lortel Theatre. Cozy little spot with a good view of the happenings on Bleecker St. They have the best chocolate crackle cookies in NYC. The coffee is Stumptown, Hungry Ghost blend. Excellent service by Charlie. I've spent a few nice weather work days sitting at a little table outside Hungry Ghost enjoying the breeze, and a tasty cappuccino! The small tables outside are not crazy comfy, but fine for me. Inside the ambience is relaxed and cool, with super nice baristas and even some burrito options if you're there before lunch (they sell out). This is a total staple spot for me and I'm glad to see them around and hope they are thriving. read more

Visually nice. Coffee is good. Service is basically nonexistent. Team is far more interested in chatting with each other about "last night" than they are in actually saying hello or acknowledging you until they finish they're chat. You can get great coffee in any direction in less than a 2 minute walk. I'd recommend getting in the extra steps. read more

I was nearby to see the Friends apartment and on the walk to the train I happened across this unassuming and clean place. I honestly think this coffee shop does everything you need it to do and if you're looking for overly warm and fuzzy folks, maybe go to one of their Brooklyn locations. There are no outlets for working (fine by me), but their oat latte is hands down my favorite I've had. It's also tucked onto such a cute corner, they have good indoor and outdoor seating options. I love taking a spot by the window and reading (but mostly watching people walk by). You're going to pay $6 for a latte anywhere in the village so might as well make it a cute, aesthetically-pleasing spot located in the heart of the village that has great coffee and an excellent raspberry croissant (also the cheddar and chive biscuit is superb, has a bit of a kick to it). read more

Next time I would ask for less ice since it was freezing that morning, but on a warmer day the ice level would be perfect. Amazing Creme (Croux) Puffs!!!…read more I got the green tea, black sesame, & earl grey. The cream filling is very generous and the pastry isn't too thick. Loved the outside flavoring. Each one was perfectly made and absolutely delicious. Would come back if ever in New York to try everything else! I still think of these cream puffs often!

All the flavors were so yummy! The outside of the pastry was crunchy and delicious. The inside was soft, creamy and melted in your mouth. There are coffee and tea items to order and other merch. Inside of the cafe was quaint and quite busy. There are tables and chairs with fun decor. The Llama is very cute. I will return to try other pastries.

There is some counter space, but mainly for standing purposes. I ordered a standard Iced Matcha Latte with Oat Milk ($7.35) and my friend got her usual Iced Strawberry Matcha Latte ($8). Docking 1/2 point bc the matcha is pre-made. I'm a fan of the whisking process bc I do believe there's a craft to matcha overall. Surprisingly, my drink tasted fine and my bev was a good color, so I was pleasantly happy. We waited less than 10 min for a table to open up, but you have to be there at the right time, otherwise you prob just grab your drink + go. Overall, glad I tried Kijitora. It's not my first matcha choice, but it was decent for a standard matcha latte. Their specialty matcha drinks look to have mixed reviews, but I'm personally not a fan of sweet drinks.

It was still pretty good, but I just feel like I would've gotten sick had I finished the whole thing. I would probably just try the strawberry matcha latte next time.

I probably never leave reviews in general, especially negative ones, but this experience was so…read moreegregious that I honestly felt like I had to say something. I've worked in restaurants and bars long enough to understand that staff drinking happens, but this was on another level entirely. I came in with a group of friends and one of the bartenders, Will, was so visibly drunk that it made the entire experience uncomfortable. Slurred speech, wobbling behind the bar, taking orders while chewing food with his mouth open -- it was honestly embarrassing to watch. He looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. At one point, my group had been trying to get his attention for another round for quite a while while he stood around talking with coworkers. We then watched staff take a shot together, and when he finally came over he burped mid-conversation and literally had whatever he had just been drinking dribbling down his neckbeard. That was the moment where the whole thing went from unprofessional to just gross. What made it worse was that it didn't seem isolated to one employee. Throughout the night we watched staff openly taking shots and drinking behind the bar like it was a house party instead of a business. There's a difference between bar culture and complete lack of professionalism, and this crossed that line hard. One of the friends I was with actually frequents the DUMBO location and said that the last time she was there, the same bartender also seemed intoxicated, which makes this feel less like a bad night and more like an ongoing issue. The DUMBO location itself is in an amazing spot, which makes it even more disappointing. But ownership seriously needs to get control of what's going on there before someone gets hurt or the place develops a reputation for having drunk staff on the clock. Unfortunately, the experience was uncomfortable enough that my girlfriends and I won't be coming back. I genuinely hope the employee mentioned gets help if this is a regular thing, because nobody should be working service in that condition.

As you walk up, the massive clock outside is so cool and they even have an upstairs with additional seating. Only knock I'll give is (rightfully so) their pour over coffee is on the pricier side, but well worth it to be honest.
