Howie's doesn't hit like it used to in my youth. The crust seasoning was always my favorite thing about HH and it's seemingly become a lost art. There's either too much or too little and if you ask for extra they will literally drown your pizza in it lol. Three cheeser bread remains elite, but last night we couldn't help but notice the cheese seemed pretty far inland from the crust edge. Still tasted great but skimpy for sure. The ranch dressing is also all grocery store brand (Marzetti's) now, which is meh. I think it used to at least be Hungry Howie's labeled. All told, I still get the craving a couple of times per year but it's not a regular spot. read more

I really wanted pizza and I was trying to think of which places were nearby. I'd tried a couple local places and wasn't impressed, for one reason or another. Since Hungry Howie's is not visible from a main road, I didn't realize it was so close to me. (It is on the back side of a small plaza at Maple and Farmington Roads.) But, as I was looking online, I saw that they had the 2 for $5.99 deal, so I figured I'd try that. I got a medium pizza with pepperoni and the chicken Asiago salad. The pizza was really good. Just a nice, fresh, basic, good pizza, with flavored crust. But I was mostly impressed with the salad. It was as good as any (former) sit-down restaurant's salad, with plenty of all the ingredients. Their calzones are to DIE for. Both the steak, shroom and cheese AND Italian. The steak is real steak and piled high. Comes with delicious sub sauce. I did a lot of business with them over the years. Tipped their drivers very generously and the food is very good. I just hate that after all of that, one bad experience ruined it. My wife and i ordered from them one night, they got it wrong so we sent it back because THEY screwed up. They then banned us from ordering from them. There are quiet a few competitors in the Farmington / West Bloomfield area but this Hungry Howies has remained in business; despite not being entirely visible to drivers. I used to come here often as a teenager before leaving Michigan. I recently returned and visited this location. As always, the service was incredible and the pizza was on point. Although they no longer offer the Howie Nowies, I was still extremely satisfied. A small, 8 slice pizza and a drink for about $7. Great people and great food. read more

When I lived in West Bloomfield I had an on-going affair with Hungry Howie's. The delivery guy and I were on a first name, same delivery date and time basis. I liked cheese so I loved Hungry's. The prices are always on point and so was the butter-cheese crust. See. Cheese again. Even though I was a Friday night regular the order was always right and the delivery was prompt. We had ordered $26 worth of food but he charged my friend over $28. The everyday large for $10 wasn't a special anymore even though it didn't say that you couldn't use coupons with it.
