My house was due for a fumigation and I got estimates from multiple places. I went with Hungry Termite because of the price and because Victor seemed very honest and upfront about the job. Some of the other companies tried to sell me on all this other stuff that I did not want or just had completely unreasonable prices. Before the house was tented, I did have a few last minute, paranoia questions, and they were very nice and quick to respond. Everything went on without a hitch and it was relatively painless (as far as fumigations go). Now, the reason I gave them five stars is because of what happened recently. Because of the recent heat wave and humidity, I started seeing these insects around the house that I thought could have been termites. I'm not entomologist, and I couldn't really tell if what I was seeing matched google's pictures. So I called up Victor to ask him about it. He reassured me that if it was termites, he would come by and redo whatever needs to be done. He asked about the insect and for a picture. Of course, it wasn't a termite... We were amazed and happy that our tenting went off perfectly! It rarely works that way. They exclusively use San Diego Fume Works Company for the tenting and those guys are really pros. The workers were all nice, careful, hard workers. They didn't harm my plants, which are only a foot away from the house. No damage to solar and just a few tiles broken on the roof. They got the tenting done quickly and they got the job finished at the expected time. Also, we had an issue with a tenant not packing his food/meds, and they were very understanding, letting us get it packed while they were putting the tent up. I found Hungry Termite on Yelp and sent an email through their website. I received a call the same day and described what we were seeing. Victor said based on the description, he wasn't sure if it was termites but asked for me to send him some pictures and then he would get back to us. A couple of days later, I texted him photos and he immediately responded that it looked like termites and he would send Aaron out the next day. Aaron came and did a full onsite inspection and offered either spot treatment or a full tenting. He went over the costs, the preparation for tenting, and the pros and cons of each approach. We agreed to follow up and shortly after he left, we received an email from Gina with the information regarding both options. We ended up choosing the spot treatment and Aaron came back over and took care of the problem. He was mindful to clean up after the work and always used proper Covid safety measures. We had a serious termite problem! I called several termite companies and settled with Victor and Hungry Termites. His bid was reasonable (but not the lowest) Nevertheless, it sounded like it would be the most thorough. We were very glad because they did a lot of repairs of wood that were not mentioned in other bids and were obviously necessary. The whole experience was not too disruptive which says a lot because it is not the sort of thing one likes to have to deal with. We recently found some termites in a part of our house and called a couple of companies to give us an assessment. Another company told us that we had a really bad infestation of termites throughout the house and needed to tent the house and repair all the damaged wood. The quote was very expensive and not in our budget. Aaron from Hungry Termite came in and the first thing he said to us was that he doesn't work on commission and he just wants to help his customers. He did a full inspection and said we needed to spot treat the area we had found but that the infestation in the attic the other company said we had didn't exist (Aaron couldn't find any droppings or trails to show this) and that we did NOT need to tent. The price we paid for his service was 1/4 of what the other company wanted to charge us. It is so reassuring to find such honest people in the world who just want to do a good job. In the process of buying a short sale and with my VA loan and I needed the house to be tented and treated for termites before escrow closed, bank wasn't going to pay for it and my loan required it. Also being VA I could not pay for the appraisal and the sellers Realtor had already paid another company for an estimate. I need a second and third opinion as the seller's termite guy was very expensive and moneys tight when you are paying for something you don't own yet. I called 10 termite people and most refused to come out unless they were paid, I got one guy to come out saying I had to tear down my whole deck and another that was very expensive. I called Victor from Hungry Termite, he came out met me and was very nice, honest and upfront, he practically gave me a home inspection with the walk through. He came in less than all the other termite guys and said he could save my deck. He worked great with my escrow company and did all the work perfectly. I couldn't have expected better. I was very impressed with the professionalism and quality of work done by the Hungry Termite team. Victor did an inspection of our house and provided a detailed estimate of the tenting cost and recommended wood repair. I had the wood repair done before the tenting. David and his assistant Eric performed the wood repair over 2 days and did a fantastic job. David's professionalism and attention to detail was especially appreciated. I also enjoyed his British humor. The actual tenting went well (subcontracted to San Diego Fume Co) although I was a bit disappointed in that the Fume Company didn't contact me when their previous job took longer than expected. When I contacted Victor, he quickly got back to me and offered to wait at my house until the Fume Company showed up (about 45 minutes later). Was very pleased with Victor and Hungry Termite. We have an interesting situation in that we have a shared fence with our neighbor on the property line of our home. I have a service contract with Lloyds Pest Control an am very happy with them but their termite estimate was very high and they were not sure how to secure a seal with the shared fence. I originally wanted Victor to spot treat my problem areas (I had to have some eaves repaired). He was willing to do so but after inspection said that I would probably end up seeing him once a year to the tune of about $500. Tenting would be $2500. He worked hard with his guys to make the tenting work and I am glad that we went that route. read more
