I have been wanting to come here for years. Yes years. In my family, we don't really go to brunch or even breakfast too often. You can tell from my yelp reviews, I don't really have a lot of breakfast reviews. But I had this saved as a must try and it is in NE and not far from our place. So this morning when hubs said our pregnant daughter was coming over for breakfast I jumped at the chance to suggest this spot. In case you don't read the rest of my review, I wanted to comment that the service was really great here and I am pretty sure the nice guy in the front was the owner, but I could be wrong. There was another guy working as well when two of us arrived and the rest were parking and he told us which table would be ours but that we should wait and all order together. But he was really great because when he saw the place start to get busy he reminded us of our table in the corner, kinda letting us know so it wouldn't get snatched. So that earned points in book. The menu is brunchy in that it is a prix fix breakfast menu for $28.50 and there are 3 columns with 4-5 choices. Drinks, savory and sweet items. Boozy drinks are about $10-15 extra. There is also drinking chocolate, teas, coffee or juice. (Orange and grapefruit). The girls said the orange juice was really good. But I can't drink citrus and drinking chocolate would've been too heavy for me, so I opted for coffee. This is the only column that I could take or leave. Savory - all of us I think had something different and not one item was bad. I opted for the popcorn chicken and cheesy grits and it came with a poached egg that had a beautiful gooey egg yolk in the middle. The chicken was crispy and cooked to a crispy perfection on the outside but tender and juicy on the inside. The grits were so yummy and creamy as well. *chefs kiss* My hubs ordered the buttermilk biscuits with chorizo gravy and that was also a stellar choice. I had a bite and the biscuits were crisp on the outside and the gravy with the chorizo had such good flavor. Sweet - I had the Tres Leches French toast and once again, it was perfectly crisp on the outside and cooked to perfection on the inside with what I assume was a tres leches condensed milk concoction. It came with some berries and cream drizzled around it was perfect. My hubs had the graham cracker waffles and I am going to say it again, crispy and golden on the outside and cooked perfectly. I didn't eat any of the other items that everyone else ordered, like the baked egg and potatoes or the crepes, so I cannot comment on them, but I did take photos to share. But there are so many photos already I doubt mine offer anything new. I'm not usually a breakfast or brunch person but this was really good. 10/10 delicios on every single item and this place gets 6 stars out of 5. read more

Tried out the popcorn chicken and gritz and baked eggs for the savory and the graham cracker waffles and french toast for the sweet. Everything tasted good, popcorn chicken was juicy and grits were nicely flavored but the baked eggs were our fave- the gravy on top was just too good! French toast was also up there- but I did wish there was syrup for it. Staff was very friendly and helpful, even with the preset menu, you can still order a la carte too. Shop is cozy and there's an area on the counter by the window with the cream, sugar, and condiments (ketchup, tapatio, etc) which I didn't realize at first. read more

The host at the bar helped explained how it works and promptly got our orders in. The decor as we went to find a table was pretty neat (see the photos). 1st up are drinks and i went with the standard OJ. Next is the main entre and I went with the chicken and waffle. Chicken was breaded perfectly and placed on top of a crispy thick waffle with sweet syrup. And to finish off my experience, i went with the creme brulee pancakes. Service was friendly and fast, there were 7 of us and they made sure we were all able to sit together. Music was on point, really good jams, wasn't too loud The crème brûlée pancakes lacked the brûlée part, and the inside of the pancakes were fairly dry. I think some syrup would have helped. My biscuits and gravy was good, but for some reason on the sweet side and the biscuit was a bit dry. 5 of the 7 ordered the pork belly and they all loved it. 6 of the 7 ordered the pancakes and agreed they were lacking. The one that ordered the waffles said it was way too overly sweet. So glad I came here and tried it! This spot is just over the bridge. It's not hard to find, right on a corner with a sign out front. Above it has à la buca sign. When walking in, we saw a sign explaining the way the restaurant works. You grab a menu and choose something from the sweet and savory portion with your drink for $28.50. The restaurant had a couple people in, it wasn't packed just yet. The server came over, greeted us, and explained to us as well. Once we were done making our selection, we went to the counter to order. I chose the deluxe drinking chocolate, popcorn chicken for my savory, and the poppy seed crepe for the sweet. We also ordered the cheddar bacon donut, baked egg surprise, tres leches French toast, and the graham cracker waffle. He led us to our table, where they have a jug of water and other utensils. We were served our drinks promptly. My deluxe drinking chocolate was so good! They add whipped cream and chocolate chips to it. So yummy! We waited for maybe 15 minutes for all our food to be bought over. I noticed the restaurant was decorated with nature inspired decor such as vines and muted colors on the wall. They had art for sale as well. I also saw that it was mostly men working in the restaurant. Every bite of our food was delicious. Everything has a unique taste and it has a very creative concept. I talked to one of the servers there after I asked if they have multiple locations. I noticed that the location didn't match with the one I saw on social media. He explained that they just moved locations in June/July and were only open weekends while the other restaurant, la buca, was everyday and every night on the weekends. I enjoyed it so much! Came for brunch but cutting close to closing and the staffs were all so kind and didn't rush us. I enjoy the concept of a pre fix price and everything coming out at once. The menu is prefixed, meaning you pay a set price for a drink, a savory and a main. Truthfully, way too much food but yummy enough to want to take the rest home for later! The experience overall was simple and comfortable for the most part. The restaurant had just moved out to its new location about two weeks before we went out on our Anniversary brunching. The space wasn't quite put together aesthetically so I don't have a full opinion of that. The meals were acceptable, but a bit overpriced even though it was a drink + 2 main breakfast dishes prixe-fix. The drinking chocolate was pretty close to just a fancy hot chocolate and some of the chocolate had settled at the bottom dur to the preparation of the beverage. We both had the Egg Surprise, which didn't lie, the eggs were a surprise, there were so many potatoes and toppings over the eggs that it was hard to even find the protein and it was the only option for vegetarians in regard to the savory side of the menu. The waffle I had on the other hand was surprisingly quite tasty, it really brightened up the brunch and was very well made. Definitely made things better. The presentation on the metal lunch trays for the brunch was an odd choice as a note, it made us feel like our meals were just slapped onto it to be served. I came here back in July and it was honestly my favorite restaurant of my entire trip. Even though there was a set menu that you had to choose from, all the options looked and sounded very good. I got the tres leches French toast and popcorn chicken and waffles. Everything came out fresh and hot. The French toast was to die for as it was sweet, crunchy, and drenched in syrup. It was truly super good and this plate was enough to fill me up. I had a couple of bites of the popcorn chicken and waffles but could not manage to keep going so I ended packing it to go for another meal. The chicken was crispy, juicy, and just full of flavor. The waffles had just the right amount of crispiness, and although it was dense, I did not mind it at all as it went well with the chicken. It was also still good after reheating it. My savory selection was light on the gravy which was thin and had very little meat. The donut left me baffled. Presentation wise it's very exciting but the blueberry glaze+blueberries were too sour. Combined with the also acidic key lime ice cream the whole combination felt abrasive, like biting into a lemon. This place felt more like a spot for couples or small groups. What a great spot for Father's Day and any day really. We came here based on reviews and proximity to our hotel and walked away totally satisfied. Order at the counter speeds up the decision making which is facilitated by a great menu concepts that pairs a drink of your choose with a savory and a sweet item on the menu for a set price. Add ins are alcohol, bacon or ham. Super straightforward and avoids a lot of confusion. Wait to be seated is pretty standard for crowded days. That happened quickly and by 9am they had a 30 minute wait. It's quick and orderly. They seem to be staffed to make things happen. The food was really special. It's rich and delicious and presented in a way that is fun and unique. We had the beignets and strawberry bars and the hush puppies and carrot cake. Accompanied by coffee. It was all amazing. Decadent flavors and really more than enough food for the price. The beignets with scrambled are something I want to replicate at home. The pesto and the bernaise sauce were a flavor combo to remember. The strawberry shortcake was amazing. The carrot cake was also amazing. Not enough stars for this visit. Service I here is really in its game. Everyone was prompt. Friendly. And accommodating. A little confusion on the "who was next in the line waiting for a table" game but easily resolved. I had been to Hunnymilk several years ago (pre pandemic) and I think I liked it better back then. The new menu is all donut based, which was interesting! The wait wasn't too bad for a Saturday morning but the hostess did kind of make it seem like they wanted people to leave quickly to turn over tables. The drinking chocolate was disappointing... it was really just hot chocolate that seemed to be made with water. The topping was good but the drink was meh. It was also not very hot and went cold before I finished it. The food was good! I especially enjoyed the chicken and waffles. My fiancé had the cheesy herb and chorizo gravy and said it was way too spicy. It was dusted with cayenne so the whole thing was too hot. The cafe is cute but also kind of tacky decor. You are right on a Main Street downtown so parking is hard but the side streets are nice and shaded. To be so honest.... It was awful ... :( then to top it off the only options for sugar were Splenda and vanilla bean sugar. I made it work but it was not worth paying for. I went here because it was within walking distance of my hotel and it fit my needs of wanting something sweet and something savory. The Cheesy Herb Biscuit Holes and Chorizo Gravy were a nice savory meal that gave you a home cooked kind of feel with the creamy Chorizo Gravy. The Cheesy Herb Biscuits were shaped like Donut Holes, but we're more on the savory side. They also had a crunchy outer crust on the outside while being soft and moist on the inside, and had hints of Herb and the right amount of Cheesiness throughout that went well with the Chorizo Gravy. The Apple Pie Churro-Nut had the right amount of sweetness that wasn't the rot my teeth sweetness or searching for the sweet flavor. This was basically full of the Apple Pie flavorings and had Apples on the top. Overall, this was an awesome experience and not a bad price for good food, service, and entertainment. This place is a cool idea, and the donuts are interesting flavors, but I don't love that we have to pick a drink and two donuts. I'm not a fan of sweets for breakfast, and two donuts are very filling. If I could go back and just order the Everything Beignet Benedict, I would come back.
