Hu tieu
Vi N.

The best Hu tieu spot in Seattle / washington! This place is a hidden gem, mom & pop shop, & a iykyk spot. It's cash only and if you come on a busy day, there will be an awkward waiting situation in their little hall they have. Give them some grace trying to serve and feed everyone. If they are busy you will also be sitting next to strangers. So don't come here to always expect normal dining expectations, it's truly the Vietnamese way of dining. The servers are always trying their best & quickest to serve you. So be mindful. I alwayssss enjoy coming here. If you don't want to experience that hectic experience then avoid your weekends here. But I don't mind it as I've gone here plenty of times. Highly recommend this spot. Other things on their menu is great too but the hu tieu is my go to.

Bo kho and hu tieu

Had a crazy craving for bo kho and my friend recommended this place, and I couldn't have been more satisfied. The entrance is in the back by the Safeway and is cash only. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and it was busy, but we were seated after about 5 minutes. Service was not bad. My friend ordered the hu tieu and I ordered the bo kho. His hu tieu broth was super flavorful and warm. My bo kho was exceptional as well. The meat was super tender, carrots cooked to my liking. Overall, a great experience and probably one of the best bo kho's I've ever had.

This family owned, hole in the wall is my fav and only place I go to for Bo Ne honestly. Very simple and customizable to your liking with all the fixings on the side. I've also had their Hu Tiêu and it hits the spot on a cold day when you're craving hot soup. It's a small space with cheap good food and fast service! Please note that this is a CASH ONLY establishment. All the recipes are from the 78 year old grandma, who I found out will be retiring soon :( They might close down allegedly at the end of 2025, but hasn't been decided yet. So come by and support them as much as you can!

Bo Kho with Egg Noodles

Definitely a spot more known to locals as the entrance is sneakily located on the side facing Safeway rather than the side on the main road. Upon entry, you get that homey feeling where you know the food is going to taste very much like it were made at home and for that, the service was just the same. The restaurant typically gets packed around lunch time and is filled with conversations and the TV playing Vietnamese music. The Bo Kho (Beef Stew) with Egg Noodles comes with a side of Fish Sauce, Salt, and freshly cut Chillies. The broth was tasty and addictive but a lot sweeter than I'm used to. The beef was tender but still had a bite to it that wasn't quite a melt in your mouth sensation. The egg noodles were perfect to soak up the flavors of the beef and broth. It was definitely a dish that you could easily scarf down. Would definitely come back to eat this again if I was craving it.

Huong Que is a true hole-in-the-wall that serves delicious Viet dishes that you probably can't find anywhere else. I came for a weekday lunch and got their mi bo kho (stewed beef noodle soup). I've had my fair share of Viet food but nothing quite like this - the soup was very rich yet surprisingly not too greasy, the egg noodles were chewy and fragrant, and there was a good amount of meat with bean sprouts on the side. Some of the beef was tough to chew and swallow, but overall, I enjoyed my dish a lot! Aside, the service was unbelievable quick which makes it a good lunch spot - they brought out the noodles within 5 minutes after ordering. If you're looking for something hearty, unique, and delicious, I definitely recommend trying out this spot!

Beef Stew. Can either get it with a side of bread or pho noodles. I opted for the noodles

This is a gem on MLK. Cash only and only open till 3pm. Most of the time I come here the place is busy and I have to wait a bit to get a seat but totally worth it. I have tried almost everything on the menu and everything is delicious

Annie N.

So overpriced and forgettable honestly. $22 for bo ne (sizzling steak and eggs with baguette) and the meat is overcooked and bland, and theres no tomatoes or pâté that's typically found on a complete bo ne plate. I get that times are hard and costs are high, but for a long-standing local business, I feel scammed coming here and seeing the quality take such a nose dive.

Hu Tieu Nam Vang and Bo Kho

This place is the best hole in the wall! I went here with my family as we thought the place served pho because it advertised that it did, but it didn't. They specialize in Hu Tieu, a Vietnamese pork and prawn soup. Although they didn't have pho we settled for what was on the menu since we were in line and starving. My sister and I got the Hu Tieu Nam Vang, hers was without all the toppings because she is a picky eater and I had everything in mine. My dad got the Bo Kho with rice noodles. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food since it was all new to us we were unsure at first but the flavors came through! In the Hu Tieu Nam Vang, there was a variety of meats like shrimp, liver, beef, and quail egg with the aroma of fried garlic and green onions. It was so savory and filled me up. The Bo Kho was also good too, my dad said the broth was rich and tasty. Definitely would go here again, but remember that they only take cash so make sure to bring cash.

Beef stew

My mom recommended this lil spot. You need to park in the back and you can go through the back door, then depending on how busy the restaurant is, it leads right to the "waiting line." Speaking Vietnamese is helpful but not necessary, though I do think it leads to getting your food faster (cause you can order while you are in line). I like that the menu is small so you don't have to agonize over what to get. Prices are fair and food is hearty. I ordered the beef stew with bread, lots of beef (chunks) and though a few were tougher to chew, some were pretty tender. I just wish there was some veggies in there, the stew was slightly sweet but had just enough saltiness to remind you that it's a savory dish. Bread came out hot and toasted. Restaurant is really clean and I saw workers changing gloves multiple times. Each table also has their own bottle of hand sanitizer. Cash only!

Ultraman S.

Have coming to this place for the past five years. The food is indescribable amazing. Can't go wrong with the beef stew and the pork seafood noodle soup, you can add additional sizzling eggs and baguette on the side. Every time we come we just amazed by how good the flavors are and how satisfying after the meal. Love the veggies come with the noodle. Overall, one of our fav spot in town, definitely one of the hidden gem ( physically hidden in a random plaza) of Seattle Vietnamese community. You are the lucky one if you find this spot.

She was very sweet about it, though. I'd definitely come back and eat here again.

It's still a solid spot for me even two years after I first tried it. I normally get the regular pho tai with a cup of jasmine tea (which is only $2)! Service is exceptionally fast and was sat immediately - the staff are very kind. I did not take a picture of it but I ordered a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork and shrimp fresh rolls to go after my visit. They were both very flavorful and I recommend anything off their menu - it's delicious and worth the effort to dine in but not the right place if you want to chit chat and dilly dally. There's plenty of parking outside in the strip mall which shares a lot with QFC. Seating is limited and there are often wait times around peak meal hours, recommend going 1-2hrs off those times to have a better chance at getting sat sooner! 10/10 recommend

Each visit left me feeling like I had wasted both my time and money. I've had both the Pho Dac Biet and Pho Saté, and each broth fell short for different reasons. The noodles were oddly overcooked and clumped together in both bowls. While the presentation is appealing, the flavors lack depth and both dishes were noticeably oily. The meat portions were sparse, and the pricing does not justify the quality or quantity of the food. There are simply too many better pho options in the area at this price point.

Although the food is good, I can't confidently say I'll be back. Food & drink: (4/5) We had a great start with the calamari with salted egg yolk sauce. The squid was very easy to chew through with almost zero resistance and the batter was incredibly light and crispy. The sauce was pretty light on the salted egg yolk flavor. I found that if the menu hadn't said so, I wouldn't have known it was anything other than a spicy mayo. For our entrees, I got the BBH and my partner got the banh hoi platter. The BBH is definitely one of their must try items. The broth was extremely flavorful and the meat was sooo tender. I just with they included shredded banana blossom since that's a pretty essential topping to have on BBH. It does also have more meat to noodle ratio than most BBHs I've had, so that's something I would keep in mind before ordering. My partner thought the banh hoi platter was a bit disappointing. He said the banh was dried out and the proteins such as the shrimp on sugarcane were a bit bland. He also said he wished they included scallion oil. To wash it all down, I got a kumquat jasmine tea. It definitely ran on the sweeter side but was no issue since I just poured some of my water in it to dilute the drink. Service: (5/5) Outstanding service! We were served by two different people and they were both incredible throughout our entire dinner. Other notes: In most cases, I would leave a review like this at four stars. I'm subtracting one star because I believe there are some management issues based off what I observed just from sitting in. For the most part this place seems to be severely understaffed. When we came to dinner, it was a full house with a line forming but they only had two servers running the entire floor, including those eating outside. To say they looked stressed is an understatement. As we were paying, they thanked us for being kind customers in a way that made it seem like they realllyyy needed some kindness.

The custard duck egg is an excellent starter, with a rich, savory broth that delivers a deep, yolky umami punch. The radicchio pudding was light and offered a clean, almost grassy brightness without being overwhelming in flavors. Great option for any vegans at the table. The wagyu beef tallow fries were some of the best fries I've ever had. Ultra-crispy, perfectly thick-cut, and deeply flavorful with beef notes shining through, without being too heavy. Like many of the dishes here, perfectly balanced in flavor. The grilled eggplant with whipped tofu and crispy sun chokes was another standout. The tofu whip was so smooth and should be considered a worthy sub for mayo. The eggplant was soft, creamy, and perfectly charred. The garlic rice was incredibly savory and maybe my favorite version of it yet. Packed with the perfect depth of garlicky flavor and seasoning. Finally for dessert - I thought the durian fruit cup was decent, it's great for durian lovers but next time I will be back to try their other desserts. The hollow bread is a must-try.
