The older lady behind the counter that puts the Banh Mis and drinks together is the sweetest and friendliest. She's always so incredibly welcoming but it's a hit or miss with the guys at the counter. The menu consists of a lot of processed mock meat and dry mushrooms so my favorite dishes to oder are the Banh Mi Bi and Mi Xao noodle dish with tofu as these do not have mock meat in them. They have a wide variety of ready-to-eat, packaged hot foods and desserts on display for customers to grab and go. They also make a delicious, refreshing artichoke drink that isn't overly sweet. I definitely recommend giving them a try if you're vegan or simply just in the mood for vegan. Note: There's a discount for cash payment.

It's a cute cozy family owned shop kinda hidden away from the main street but they got everything! It's a small dining area with a small grocery section when you enter. The aunties can't speak English but lucky me there was a young man working who can, he speaks mandarin too. He recommended me to get this plate of spring rolls. They have this one in my picture and another box that's with the vegetarian meats. The spring rolls' texture is nothing what I expected. From the look of it I thought it's got crispy filling but it was rather tasting stale. So I took a closer look, I think there are dried carrots and shallots or onions, and a lot of vermicelli. Personally, I would like the fresh veggies over the dried ones, because when they turn moist they become little too chewy for me. Also I wish the ratio of the vermicelli and veggies are more balanced, the rolls' flavor overall is still very refreshing to eat though. The fish sauce was good too, not too salty and fishy, it's on the more fragrant side. For this box of rolls I paid $10, which is little pricey for me since I have tried better for half that price. But maybe I will be back again and try other things on the menu one day.

We ordered to sandwiches to go for our flight but it smelled so good we had to eat one right away. The people who work here are super sweet and friendly and we had a good time talking with them. Must try this place it's well worth it. The prices are very good too. Highly recommend!! I asked for the veggies on the side so I could eat it later, that's why the pic doesn't have the veggies yet.

I called ahead to place a to-go order because I was on my way to work. The employee hung up before my order was taken, and when I called back, no one answered. When I arrived, there were several employees present, but I stood waiting until another employee finally helped me. During checkout, the employee who had answered the phone barely spoke to me. I asked questions because I was confused about the payment, but he didn't respond, which made the interaction uncomfortable. When my order was ready, instead of handing it to me like he did for other customers, he placed it on a table several feet away for me to retrieve myself. It was early in the morning, and I was simply hoping for a smooth pickup before work. Instead, I left feeling unwelcome and disappointed by the customer service. I hope future customers are treated with more courtesy and communication.

Nguyen Ngo was our first banh mi stop and also our last. I'm really very particular about my banh mi and have a firm POV on what a great dac biet (combo/special) should include (and accept that this is my own preference and that others may disagree!). My checklist below is typically where I find the most variance from shop-to-shop, as almost all places include the requisite jalapeños and cilantro: - Bread: soft with a thin, crispy crust and the crust should not be so hard that it scratches the top of your mouth - Condiments: pate should be fairly generous and flavorful and there shouldn't be so much mayo that it's dripping out of the bread - Pickled veggies: should be close to 50/50 between carrots and daikon - Cold cuts: has to have cha lua (steamed pork sausage) and gio thu (Vietnamese head cheese, preferably one that doesn't have much of the ear as it's too crunchy). I'm fine if it also includes thit nguoi, but don't require it. I don't like thit nuong is included though, as I find it makes the sandwich too heavy So how does Nguyen Ngo stack up against my list? - Bread: 10/10, probably the best bread I've had for banh mi. No idea if they bake it themselves or if they purchase it, but they're definitely doing it right - Condiments: 10/10, perfect balance, but the standout was definitely the pate. It was creamy with a strong flavor, but not overly liver-tasting. I thought about it all week and even considered flying a tub of it back home with me (I did not, but might do it next time) - Pickled veggies: 5/10, mostly carrots with a tiny bit of daikon. Also leaned a touch more sweet than I prefer and maybe not pickled for quite long enough? It was nice and crunchy, but the main drawback was not having enough daikon in the mix - Cold cuts: 8/10, they don't offer gio thu or the kind of cha lua that I like in my banh mi, but the thit, jambon, and saucisson were a good enough combo that it didn't throw me off too much We ordered their dac biet on the first day, which includes this shredded chicken that I really didn't care for. The consistency was almost like pork floss, but less tasty. On the last day, we chose the 4 ingredient banh mi and got it with pate, thit, jambon, and saucisson and that was much more to our liking. We bought 9 to take back home to share with our families (plus a couple extra for us), and they did an excellent job of packing the veggies separately!
