After sitting idle for well over a year, my dad's 2013 GLK 350 needed an inspection, oil change, and a new battery: I quickly discovered that the sheer amount of wires/harnesses that needed to be disconnected wouldn't allow me to DIY this. I used the original Hurles bros for 4 years. My rating applies to the original Hurles Bros. I understand the shop is under new ownership and the reviews are not as good as they used to be. Hopefully the new owners are working very hard to correct the issues I read in recent reviews. If the new owners can fix their issues, get their office processes for returning calls sorted out, retain knowledgable mechanics who take the time to LISTEN to owners about what we think the problem is we came to them to fix and make this place the quality place it was before, I wouldn't take my beloved 2011 BMW X5 50i anywhere else. The original owners (Hurles Bros.) knew BMWs inside and out. They would tell you exactly what work is required (and what isn't), wouldn't take advantage of you in any way, wouldn't recommend work that is a waste of money and they would save you money compared to the BMW dealer. But most importantly, the mechanics they hired (and retained) did excellent quality work.They were a big part of helping me get 100,000 miles plus out of my BMW, with no serious issues. I will be taking my car there to have a detailed inspection within the next 2 weeks. I will report back what I found out. read more

I drive a 2019 S60 R Design that is our 5th Volvo. Needless to say we are Volvo fans. The car had excessive wear on the rear brake pads at only 48k and was close to metal-to-metal. I took it to Hurless Bros and they diagnosed the fix and scheduled the car for the following Friday. New pads & rotors and it runs...or rather, stops like a top. Brett and Todd were THE BEST in the business. They had stellar service, were very fair, completely honest, thoroughly focussed, and extremely competent. I recently was in town (I moved out of Boise years ago) and took my G Wagen into the shop. They totally misdiagnosed the issue (like REALLY off, as in incompetent) and they charged me for the diagnostic. What a complete waste of time. It's like they did not care, and they put in no real effort. I had actually told them what to look for and they didn't, or did not know how to do so. The new ownership is nowhere NEAR the professionals that Hurless Brothers were. I would not have taken the time to write this bad review but after I found the problem I called them to let them know that they had misdiagnosed the issue and I just wanted to help inform them about it so that they could maybe learn from it. I was told the owner would call me back. He did not call back. this is an update.... i was stranded on the side of the road a couple days after getting my timing chain replaced with a drive train malfunction on my bmw. i ran the code and had a misfire. I made it home and decided to inspect everything. Starting with my battery and then moving on to my engine bay. First, my battery wasn't tightened it was loose. Went to start my car and the problem was still there. Upon inspection of my engine taking off the cover and foam. i see my coilpacks sitting on top of my spark plugs and for some reason one of my coilpacks in the back never got pushed back in. It was just sitting on my engine. I also noticed a plastic cover over some wiring that had been cracked while this job was being done. I have some new scratches cosmetically on my bumper and fender that i know wasn't there prior to the appointment but i'm letting that go. I'm very unhappy and i was going to come back in to have this fixed but i don't even want to deal with this shop anymore. Sorry to say but this was my first and last experience here. read more

We took our Volvo XC 90 to Hurless Bros when our Volvo had a fluid leak that needed fixed. They also fixed a sound in the car that the Volvo dealer couldn't fix. We were impressed that they could diagnose it over the phone based on what our oil change guy told us. We took the Volvo back to them after we received a bill for over $3000 from Big O Tire on State Street. They were extremely thorough. They kept our car for three days and went over it with a fine toothed comb. They told us that there was nothing wrong with our car, and that we would need new brakes at our next oil change. They even refused the money my husband offered them for their time. Brett and Todd Hurless were the ones who called to let us know the status of our car. They remembered our names. They told us we would have an open account with them. They said they could only charge us $4 for a new battery for our car fob. We won't take our Volvo any place else!! read more

I was initially referred to them by my Aunt, who has taken her Volvos in for the last 15 years, and have never gone anywhere else since. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and offer reasonable prices on vehicles that are notorious for high maintenance costs. We drove our 2014 BMW 328i all the way from Los Angeles to visit family in the Boise area. The engine light went on in the middle of the Nevada desert. With a 15+ hour drive home, we took it in to Hurless to check it out. Within 15 minutes, the team checked the error message revealing a small emission issue. No need to address urgently and they sent us on our way with the factory code number so we could have it looked at in LA. When they didn't want to charge me for their time, I pulled out a $20 bill which was promptly refused, saying: "This is just part of our service." I was so impressed with their customer service that I knew I would use them as my first resource from now on. Today I had a simple oil change scheduled with them, and when I had to reschedule my appointment to a later time last minute, they were extremely understanding and got me in no problem. FANTASTIC MECHANICS - BOOK WEEKS AHEAD!!! Todd and Brett are great. There's no other place I would take my BMW to in the valley. They work on old and new BMWs alike when I took my car in there was an E39 5-series and an F10 M5 being worked on side by side. Fair, honest and easy to work with. This place is very expensive and kind of a pain location. Made an app for my c class. Had a couple issues with it. In the end I was charged for taking out a spark plug, bending it back into place; then installed again. Wasn't even a new one mind you. Regardless, that's something anywhere or anyone else would have done free or charge. This place makes it hard to keep business going. The owners are very rude( sure in the beginning, they are nice and want to take your money ) but once it's all over with they spit you out and wait for you to come back next week with a repair they 'seemed to fix'. Left the shop with still a check engine light, and different problem to fix, and irritated. I get Mercedes isn't cheap, but honestly I wouldn't recommend anyone to this place anymore. So being a woman, I'm automatically screwed when it comes to car repairs, because (1) I didn't take automatics in high school (like my dad suggested) instead I took art (yeah, that's done me a whole lot of good!) And then yesterday my car light came on for some coolant issues, they took me in right away and fixed the problem, replaced my light all under $70! They, like, you know... Open the hood and look at your vehicle Like the olden days!! They also run the diagnostic when necessary obviously) The are reasonable, easy to talk to and so very knowledgable I am to grateful to have found them. When my engine fan had an issue at 5pm On a Friday, they walked me through the steps to rig it to work through the weekend; then they made an appt for me very quickly, even tho they are booked solid every day. I can't say enough about how honest and courteous and old school these guys are. I mean, truly genuine: they assess the situation with your car, tell you what needs to be worked on now, what will need to be worked on later, and if your car is about to break down or your brake pads and rotors are 'metal to metal,' as mine apparently were, they won't let you leave without working on it for you. Also, as a woman and also someone who doesn't know a ton about cars but has learned over the years, I always find it helpful and impressive when a mechanic takes the time to break down the details and explain how the parts of a car work, or what to anticipate in a particular model of car. For example, with my '91 Volvo, there are a bunch of wiring issues, which I'd noticed on and off--e.g. last summer, my windows only sometimes worked, which was....interesting. Todd explained this pattern with older Volvos to me as Brett went outside and fiddled with the wiring. Then, my back/brake/tail lights and dashboard lights worked again. It took him all of about five (5) minutes to do this, and this was ~7:30 p.m., after they'd closed and I'd brought back my 'loner car' that they'd loaned me so I could get to my new job on time. My oil change monitor showed the car to be two thirds full after they did extensive work and an oil change. So I took it back to them. They looked at the monitor and said its not that low, put in some oil and complained that I brought it back. So I drove home and looked at the oil monitor again and it was still only two thirds full! I checked under the vehicle to see if there was some kind of leak? No leaks. So I went to an auto parts store bought a couple of quarts and put in a quart. Now I checked the monitor and it showed it was full. Nothing wrong with the car they just shorted me a quart and even after taking it back obviously didn't put much in. You might get a price break here but if their work isn't right don't take it back because they won't be happy that you did. Maybe they were just having a bad day! read more

Hands down the best BMW shop in town. Brett Hurless used to run the shop at the dealership years ago, and now he and his brother Todd run this amazingly busy hole in the wall shop. There is always a long wait for scheduled service, but they always make time if you have an emergency - usually staying late into the evening to make everyone happy. One day after work, my wife's car stranded her in town. We called Hurless immediately. After AAA hauled the car to the shop, Brett and Todd were still there at 9:00pm, waiting for the car so they could make a preliminary diagnosis.
