Just wanted to add my two cents - (I'd like to give 4 1/2 stars, but since I can't...) We were on vacation and looking for lunch after a movie on a rainy day. As usual, I turned to my trusty Yelp app to find a good spot. Hurricane Mo's got high marks, so off we went. We were not disappointed! It is a small place, but the atmosphere is beachy and fun - just what we were looking for. They had a good kid's menu, and my daughter loved her popcorn shrimp. We splurged for the special drink that comes with a lei and silly glasses, and she was in heaven. The server was accommodating about making sure my meal could be made gluten free - and my Mahi was cooked well with good flavor. I loved the sweet coconut rice. My hurricane cocktail could have been a little stronger, but it was still tasty. What we really loved was the spiced shrimp. I never made it back during that vacation, but I kept wanting to go back just for a big plate of shrimp. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. On a trip with some disappointing restaurant experiences, this one really hit the spot. We will definitely be back next time we're in the OBX. read more

We had a party of 12 on Friday night. We arrived at 5 pm knowing that there would be a wait. We all headed to the second floor deck for drinks while we waited for our table. Tropical drinks and IPA on tap were just what we needed after a day at the beach. Wait was not long. Seafood tacos were a big hit. Nice portion of grilled fish and all the fixings to make 4 soft tacos. Pan seared crab cakes were also delicious. Large portions, reasonable prices and great service in a nice beachy atmosphere. Fun place with delicious food. The outside bar they just built seems like a great place to hang out during an evening in Kitty Hawk. Even though we were there in the off season, the place was still pretty packed and we had a 15-20 minute wait for a table of four on a Friday night. I would definitely return the next time I'm in the OBX. The fried and pan seared seafood platters were both ordered by our table and both were gone! Our server was also incredibly nice and checked on us at least three times during the meal and even offered to split our checks without us asking (which I know can be a nightmare for servers). Ordered a Captain and Diet..was horrible! Told our waitress I wanted a Coors light instead. We've been coming to OBX for 30 plus years and use to love this place until this year, what happened? The staff seems to be angry at the customers and 1/2 aren't very friendly. The AC seems to need repair and the flies are aggressive and abundant. The wings are great but the shrimp are mushy on the head end. The atmosphere is fun and loud. Hand drawn paintings of beach things covering the walls. There are multiple tvs! Their happy hour is impressive... And was going on until 6pm when I was there. Everyone else was saying it ended at 5pm, so I'm not sure if they changed it or if it was just the day of week? I wasn't impressed with their food, to be honest. The shrimp tacos were strange...the only good part being the actual fish. The food was overly expensive, not because of the portion sizes (you get quite a bit), but just because I felt the quality was lacking. Happy hour 3-5pm.. We had $.15 shrimp... We waited 35 minutes in a Monday evening but it was worth the wait. Our server was pleasant and quick. But as the broken record goes make sure you hit up the" happiest" hour b/c you really can't beat 15 cent shrimp and 35 cent wings. Plus they both where steamed/fried to perfection. It was a little wait but we sat at the bar outside and were served right away. Really no complaints, the only thing I can say is the shrimp became a little weak/mushy after sitting there awhile. Im giving this place 5 stars because of the cats that entertained us outside our window for two hours while we drank beer and gorged on shrimp & wings. One complaint/suggestion though - happy hour is supposed to be about drink specials. Try one week making up a batch of planters punch, hurricansor mojito's and sell for $$2 or $3 and see how fast they go. Use the cheap rail liqour and you'll make a profit . I live near this restaurant and have noticed the parking lot is always full, so I decided to try it. The food was ok, but for me the noise level in the restaurant was to high. Every time we are in the Outer Banks, Mo's is a must! I look forward to going to Mo's every time I'm in the Outer Banks. We go a few times a year and I remember the first time we went to Mo's. We saw it and figured we wanted to have a beer, watch the NASCAR race and have a bite to eat. The staff was fantastic and treated us as though they had known us for years. They told us about the $.25 cent wings. ,$.10 shrimp specials they have every day from 3-5. During the off-season, it's 3-6. Hand's down they have the BEST wings I've ever had. I crave Hurricane Mo's wings often and wish I lived closer and could go more often. The shrimp is really good too. I love the atmosphere, food and everything about the place. This was walking distance from our hotel, and all the reviews were good, so we decided to check it out. What a great experience! The interior is really cool, our server was great, and the food was delicious! I had the char-broiled mako special with pineapple salsa, coconut sticky rice, and black beans. The fish was SO flavorful! Loved their signature cocktails, too - between my friend and I, we tried the Funky Monkey, Big Catch, Vitamin Sea, and another frozen drink that I can't remember the name of. Every day from 3 to 5 pm 7 days a week they have 10 cent shrimp, 25 cent wings, and 1 dollar taco's. They are very good and well the price is RIGHT!!! All the food here is very good if you don't want to get the happy hour specials. Fast Service and Great People!! You can't go wrong if you eat here! One Tip, if you are going for the Happy Hour Specials get there at least by 2:20 because at 3 they have a line outside the door waiting. And it's like that Every Single Day Too!!! Wow. We are epically disappointed in this place! Waited 45 minutes for a table(not a big deal). Inside we received a table with a fan by it, it was miserably hot in there. Ordered the crab dip- it was extremely over cooked with visibly burnt flat bread. Zero quality control with the kitchen nor our waitress. Next we got the dinners. The tacos- they left a VERY disgusting aftertaste. The popcorn shrimp- included 14 small over battered shrimp. The blackened Mai tacos were well over cooked, the rice with them was literally stuck together in a sticky ball and there was no taste to anything. We had drinks sit empty for extended amounts of time and had to request refills. We requested the check without eating our food and the waitress didn't blink an eye and handed us our $75 check for a meal barely touched by anyone. There is zero quality control nor did they care what they were serving here. Skip this place and go somewhere local. It's gross. This place has either changed ownership from the previous amazing reviews or stopped caring about their environment, customer service and food quality and quantity. read more
