Over the years we have visited this establishment. Wednesday night we decided to try them again. Their food and service have been lacking over the years. We walked in, were immediately seated only to sit there without anyone acknowledging us. After about 5ish minutes and two servers passing us by without so much as someone will be right with you, we got up and walked out. Several years back when I got their Hurricane chowder for the first time I LOVED it. Twice in a row recently, including today, it's been a terrible disappointment. The price has gone up but it has a tiny fraction of the clam and fish it once did. All tomatoes, celery and a few chunks of potato. Today I also got the 3 small pork sliders from the happy hour app menu. They once were fabulous. Today another disappointment; again, from $5 to $7 in the last year, but quality has gone WAY down. I understand now why this place doesn't have near the business it once did. When restaurants get skimpy and try to save pennies they lose dollars. I doubt I'll be back. read more

Locals! Locals! And more Locals! This is my kind of place. Good food in this hole-in-the-wall joint located directly on the water. Parking has always been pretty easy for me as it shares a parking lot with the marina. Local bands and live music on weekend offer a lot of fun and entertainment. The Friday Happy Hour of half priced drinks and pitcher beer specials along with food choices of hot crawfish, mussels, chicken wings, shrimp with the many sauces, dips and butters are great finger foods for just a few pennies a piece. They also offer burgers and fried cheese sticks with marinara for the land lovers plus a plethora of other non-seafood dishes. However, since I'm on the water, the fresh seafood is a huge plus along with super efficient, southern mannered, attentive wait staff. BTW, you can reserve tables here. Excellent experience this time and last. We sat outside right next to the boats and water with a wild group of drinking ladies next to us that provided free entertainment all night long. Amanda was our server and she was terrific! What a great place to end the week and start my sister's birthday celebration with a bucket of Malibu punch and fabulous Bloody Marys--much try them! Here, you definitely can make new friends and enjoy the view if you are open and have a good attitude. And why not? Nice place in St. Augustine to enjoy.a dinner outside by the water. There is nothing fancy or pretentious about Hurricane Patty's so it offers a nice casual dinning experience. We started with a combination appetizer of fried alligator, crawfish and catfish. Honestly, not the best seasoned batter I've ever had. It needed some salt or some spice to give it a little life. It was good but not great. For our entrees we went with the shrimp boil which was excellent. Everything on this plate was delicious. The shrimp is peel and eat so prepared to get a little messy. The oysters were bad. Very bad. Sent them back. Poorly shucked, warm and old. Promised to remove them from the bill. The Painkiller, wine, and draft beer were good. Waitress nice. No paper towels in the men's room. Waterfront location nice. Waited forever for each course. We were not in a hurry, but.... interminable wait. I like Hurricane Pattys a lot. Its a great local spot, right on the water with an awesome view of the docked boats. As a special treat, there are always a lot of crabs surfacing and re-embedding themselves in the sand right by the boat launch that the kids seem to really enjoy. This time we had the fried pickles (highly recommend), the seafood crab dip (highly recommend), the Hurricane (of course I highly recommend!), and the Crabby Patty sandwich (needs a bit more zing...add the pineapple salsa that comes with the coconut shrimp! It was neat when it was funky, water dripping from the air ducts, uneven floors, good fried fish and seafood boils that had plenty for two, four or group, as ordered. If you're looking to enjoy a cold beer and good food in a rustic atmosphere, you'll like Hurricane patty's. They have a large open dining room and lots of outdoor seating, along with two bars; one inside and a tiki bar outside. They have a Bloody Mary bar and a few TVs over the main bar inside, which seats about 12. What's most impressive is the panoramic view of the bay and marina. The restaurant was remodeled two years ago and there appears to be no residual damage from our last hurricane. Inside the tables are still spread far apart. It may get a little loud when busy but I think it fits the style. They specialize in seafood and portions are generous. Food was well prepared. We ordered the Jamaican Jerk Chicken Cobb Salad and the Grilled fish sandwich (wahoo). We loved it. Our waitress Lauren was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive. We will be back. read more

Our first night in FL and my wife and I went looking for a place to get a light dinner and see some local color. Hurricane Patty's fit the bill on all counts. It is right off of Ponce de Leon Blvd traveling south from King Street. If you go over the little bridge, you went too far. We went at night so had no idea of our surroundings (went back and took pictures in the daylight). There is a boat ramp in the parking lot - I'm willing to bet at least one or two patrons have driven into the water. The menu is varied and service was excellent. Didn't feel like beer at the time so we ordered wine and were surprised when the server asked if we wanted a half or full carafe. The wine (merlot) wasn't bad). Our dinners came quickly and were both excellent. My wife had a salad which was huge while my cajun oysters, beans & rice and cole slaw were excellent. Live entertainment (it was a Saturday) was good. The guitar player had a good voice and his singer (a Janis Joplin wannabe) was also good. The rest of the patrons (a mix of locals and tourists) provided the balance of the entertainment - this is a great place to "people watch". We stayed for a couple of hours (had to finish the carafe) and enjoyed ourselves. We will definitely go again when we are in the area. read more

First time coming here I was not impressed when we got there waited 15 mins before anyone even spoke to us I asked do we seat ourselves or wait finally a waitress seated us and come to find out she was ours she was not very friendly and we kept having to ask for our drinks to be refilled then when we got our food my son ordered the meatloaf and his mushrooms were no good they tasted like there was beer in it I ordered the ham steak with fill peas and corn bread did not get my cornbread my husband got the steak and they did not cook his steak right not long after my son took three bites of his food he ended up getting sick after we got our check the waitress I felt like was rushing us out after we left and got halfway down the road we had to pull over because I ended up throwing everything up and i didn't even finish my food the service was very poor to me and I will not come back read more

We thoroughly enjoyed our meal tonight! I cannot believe I have lived in Saint Augustine for 12 years and never knew this place existed. We started with the crab dip which was good but not great. Hubby liked it more than I did. Probably would not order it again. For entrées, I ordered the shrimp and grits and he ordered the shrimp and andouille sausage pasta. With the first bite of my shrimp and grits I knew this was something special. The flavor was unique and I could not figure out what it was until I asked the waitress to tell me what the drizzle of cream sauce was on the dish. Turns out it is a roasted garlic red pepper cream sauce. OMG! It also had tons of cheese and just the right amount of bacon. It was fabulous! I cannot wait to have it again. Hubby enjoyed his pasta as well. I could not believe how much shrimp and sausage was in the pasta. Too many places are chintzy with the protein but not Patty's! Hubby says he wants to come back and have it again! The ambience was a fun, Fishcamp atmosphere. Marina right next-door really helps to set the scene. Great casual place to hang out and enjoy a water view. Unfortunately, the restaurant was less than 1/3 full and there was a 20 minute wait for the servers to catch up. Obviously staff had not shown up for work - huge challenge in the hospitality industry and I sympathize with their management, however the front staff was less than friendly and the ladies restroom could use a good cleaning. Decided to eat at the bar. Drinks were great....nice spicy Bloody Mary....and the bartender was EXCELLENT! Food was mediocre at best. Food took 45 minutes to come to the table, we ordered 2 shrimp boils and only one had any seasoning on it none of it had any flavor. I'm trying to find the words to submit this review in a nice way but Hurricane Patty's is a run down restaurant. The food was not good at all and very bland. If you're a vegan, this is not a good option for you. Their prices were sky high for what you get, but I guess that's to be expected in a very touristy city. My mom and sister got seafood, they are from out of state and were really disappointed with their meals as well. They were expecting fresh seafood and got a meal that was not up to par to what you could get elsewhere. Placed an order for pickup at 6:21 pm. Management was every accommodating with substitutions to my seafood platter. Was instructed that food would take 25 mins. Arrived at 6:55 in hopes of picking up my food quickly seeing how I had my dogs in my car. Hostess informed me that there was a mix up with my order and would be a few minutes. A few minutes turned into 30 or so. The manager placed a slice of pie in my bag with my order of shrimp and grits that had been sitting in the back through this whole wait. I eventually leave with my orders at 7:35 wet and extremely annoyed. The issue being the extended time it took to get my pick up order. Once I got home I did enjoy my food aside from the fact that my order of shrimp and grits was practically cold . Nice staff/Good food just bad experience with pickup and cold food due to pickup delay. Pie doesn't exactly fix my experience unfortunately. read more

Well they are getting a little bit better had friends visiting and we went to Hurricane Patty's for oysters- worked out well they had a $0.50 special. So oysters and beer was good. Nice pour on the house wine. Also one of the few places that has a weekend happy hour. Wife had fish tacos- marked on the menu as one of the house special meals - but wife said just average taste. Nothing special. It did look like they had enough staff to handle the crowd So I guess I'll give them another try in the future. So this place dropped from one of my favorite restaurants but after the new owners took over it went on my "forget about it list" to ok I'll give them another chance- just not anytime soon. read more

We arrived after dark, barely see the water view outside the window. I ordered a lobster broil plate special for $20. A medium whole lobster, potato and corns in a garlic butter sauce. The sauce got good flavor but the lobster was uncut. It took me a while to get the meat out and the process was quite messy. The lobster was fresh and tasted good in the sauce. The service was friendly. Ambience was the typical water front bar/ restaurant setting. The view probably would be better if I come during the day. read more

Service was slow and I'm not sure why due to the reduced number of clientele that is allowed inside. Other than that I really liked my two visits the past weekend. The crab cakes were very good, the coleslaw was more than enough and wasn't too mayonasie as some places. The side of hush puppies only lacked onions in the batter. The shrimp and grits were very good also. Just the right amount of cheese and the shrimp were a fairly good size and tasty. Give this place a try if you're in St Augustine, I think you'll be satisfied. read more

Red Fish Taco's! Yes! Believe me, you need them. If you are in the St. Augustine area, it will be worth your while to find Hurricane Patty's. It's slightly off the main throughway of St. Augustine, so some people miss it. It's a small place with a lot of character. The water is right outside the deck and the bar is just what you'd imagine from a small coastal bar- not one of those chain restaurant bars... Anyway, the red fish tacos were awesome! They had Guinness draft too- so I was thrilled. The tacos had a perfect seasoning. My friends and I ate on the deck. The service was good and I give Hurricane Patty's a 5 star! read more

Worst experience! Avoid it. Ordered the Island pot roast ($18.95). Cannot rate it because they did not give me the pot roast... there was no meat! And they charged me for it. The entire meal for our party was ruined. The scampi that was provided was sour-indicating frozen seafood that has gone bad. Very poor quality control. The manager, Michael, who did not want to speak with me initially, is not willing to do anything to rectify it. There are so many places in St Augustine that offer great service and great food at better prices. Drive past this one. There is no reason to waste your time or money here. read more

My two friends and I went there for a five o'clock dinner last night. The staff was pleasant. Our waiter was good and attentive, but new. We had filled out a form on the website to join and receive a free order of crab dip. Neither the coupon nor the website said you MUST print the coupon to use it so we felt cheated out of that bonus which we had been looking forward to and were disappointed. Who on vacation has access to it a printer?!? My friend and I had the fried shrimp and fries and my other friend had the burger and fries. We felt all of the food was 'just average'. The French fries were cold and the shrimp had a strong taste. My other friend thought the burger was good. We enjoyed the coleslaw and the key lime pie which was yummy. Once we were seated ordered waters and drinks each. Took a while to get drinks and ordered a crab dip appetizer. This one of our go to places when in town. Hard to find but worth it. The food and drinks are always very good. The staff is friendly. We even get to enjoy hanging out with the other guests. Friendly crowd. Sitting is inside or out. We like it outside. If you're really hungry try the boiled plates. Plenty of food even for a guy that can put it away. read more
