Husteads of oakland unreliable and trustworthy service. On 8/24/2021 I contacted Husteads and inquire about a date to drop off my vehicle for repair. Dale informed me that he will have to call me back later within the week to schedule a date to have the vehicle repair. Two weeks went by and I did not received a call. I then call Husteads to follow up and was told parts where in the process of being order, but that they will call me back later that week. Two more weeks went by and no call regarding status of the auto parts. I called Husteads again, to check on the parts, and was told that the Bumper had arrived but they where waiting on the plastic cover but that was coming in on Friday and that they will call me later that week to tell me when to drop off the Truck. Four weeks went by with no call/ text or email from Husteads. So I call them again to check on the status of the parts. After being on hold for 10-15 minutes, I was told by the receptionist that the plastic cover had indeed arrived two weeks ago but they will have to call me back to schedule a date when to drop of the my vehicle. As of today I am still waiting on that phone call! read more

I brought my M2 to Hustead's after a fender bender, and I'm very glad I did. The car looks like it just rolled out of the factory, with perfect panel gaps and far better paint protection film than before. They did a meticulous and thorough repair, and the car is literally better than new. Throughout the repair process, I enjoyed friendly and professional customer service. I really can't imagine a better experience. Dale was my advisor and main contact. He took the time to make sure that I completely understood the necessary work and potential issues and updated me on the repair process. Gina took the time to walk outside (because of Covid social distancing) to bring me the invoice and to handle payment. Sean begged me to have my totaled car repaired @ Hustead's rather than the place to which it was towed. He said they had to charge more for body repairs since it was $ pay, not insurance. They did an ok job on the body but the car would not hold a charge. He had me pay $100 for a battery. Still would not hold a charge. The bumper on my car had been a bit damaged and was no longer sitting flush, I brought it in to get an appraisal and was helped by Sean. He was very helpful and told me that they would get my car fixed in no time. I tore my front bumper off my car backing out of a really steep driveway. I really thought I was going to need a whole new one because it's plastic and the parts where it was screwed on tore. Friendly customer service, great work, done when promised. Someone was having a bad day in Berkeley and decided to take it out on my car, shattering the back glass and bending the frame. Nothing was taken but I was without my car for a few days. The guys at Hustead's were very professional and gave a honest estimate of when my car would be ready. They also thoroughly cleaned my car -- I was very much overdo for a wash and detail! When I picked up my car, the guys made sure everything worked and even apologized for the slight delay. Imagine opening the trunk of your newly repaired vehicle to find that the repair shop left the damaged bumper/light panel that was removed from your crashed vehicle in the trunk of your vehicle. I imagine that they wanted me to dispose of the parts? I understand why a repair facility would give me small items to review, but not a large item? Additionally, they had my car for weeks and never bothered to call with an updated date for completion. The insurance company called me to status the vehicle, which I thought was odd because I got the shops info from the insurance company, so I called Husteads for an update. That's when I realized that their phone lines were out. I called a neighboring location to ask for help, but apparently no one in this location owned a cell phone??? The staff there was nice enough, but let's face it, if you make me dispose of my own auto body parts, fail to provide status updates when I have a rental car in the balance and you can't be reached via phone, then my business would be better appreciated elsewhere. read more

While the people at Hustead's are friendly and polite, their service is quite lacking. I was told my car would be done before the Thanksgiving holiday and am still sitting here 8 days later without a car. Also, I have had to call several times to get an update and each time they give me a new date that is further out to pick up the car. This has become a huge inconvenience with planning rides to work. If I had known it would take this long, I would have made longer-term arrangements for my transportation needs. Simply unacceptable. UPDATE: Hustead's came back to me and offered to pay for a rental car until the car was finished, then offered a free detail, delivered my car to my work and returned the rental car for me. Their efforts to make up for the delay in service are commendable and I would recommend them to anyone needing auto body work done. I sincerely believe that it was the holiday that forced the delay. read more
