Had a good stay here while in town for the Boston Calling music festival. Hotel layout is a bit odd, you have to take one set of elevators up to the third floor lobby and then another to get to your floor. The floor I was on also had a strange triangular shape. But the room was very clean and recently renovated with comfy beds. Pretty decent fitness centre. The hotel is not in the greatest neighbourhood but there is a T stop one block away which is very convenient. read more

The bathroom sink pipe had a green mold in side where the water comes from. I tried to clean it but it basically stuck and we had to use bottle water to brush our teeth and clean our babies bottles and cups.I didn't like having to pay 180$ for parking. And i didn't like that fact that i ask housekeeping twice to come clean my room and they didn't. They kept coming and putting do not disturb card on my door. The first house keeper was a Spanish lady and she was awesome. The one that didn't want to come to clean our room was a Asian guy i believe. I had two toddlers who are in diapers and we didn't have any where to dispose their diapers and all i wanted was for someone to vacuum and take out our trash. Convenient and modern. Absolutely loved my stay here. My bf got our hotel room here and the location was so convenient. Minutes away from the train station, and minutes way from chinatown. There's a movie theatre around the corner, Paramount, and Macys is just next door. Definitely LOVED the location, along with the amenities. We didn't get to explore the spa or gym however, it was definitely a wonderful visit. Interesting lobby, you enter on the Avenue De Lafayette side, and go up an elevator then walk across the lobby on the main floor then go up another elevator to guest rooms. Concierge is close to bottom level, however there is rarely a concierge person there. They also have a gift shop, and room service is great too. read more

This hotel is fantastic! It's right in the middle of Downtown Boston, but you don't hear any street noises. You do hear some noises from the hallway, but they're not typically too obnoxious. The blackout curtains work super well, and the beds were really comfortable. I slept in for quite a while. The water pressure in the shower was great. The conditioner was pretty runny, but it worked out with just supplementing it with my own. The concierge was really friendly and made some great food recommendations! You can also text the front desk to make requests like toiletries or room cleanings. Staying at this hotel really made the trip to Boston a great one! read more

This is a lovely hotel. It appears to be recently updated. The room was comfortable with a nice small sofa and work table. There are plenty of plugs throughout the room and nice lighting. The three star rating is because of a very serious housekeeping problem. On the second morning, I noticed that the underside of the comforter was blood stained. This was an awful discovery having just slept in the bed for two nights. It influenced my take on housekeeping at the hotel generally. read more

TITLE: Hyatt, the best advertising Hilton or Marriot could possibly have. Got in line to check in at 8pm. Irate guest at counter was holding things up. I would learn why when I finally got to the counter. Rooms not ready. After waiting close to 2 hours I asked for an eta. They said there was none. I then decided to cut my losses and asked to cancel. After I said I was extremely dissatisfied and wanted to cancel, they then INSISTED that they had a room available. The whole experience seemed like an exercise in reverse psychology. At any point in time whatever I would ask for they would offer the exact opposite. This is the dump that made its housekeepers train their replacements, so definitely user error on my part if I thought guests would be treated well. I would say this dump reflects poorly on the Hyatt chain but in my admittedly anecdotal experience even the best Hyatts would be very poor substitutes for the most run down Marriot or Hilton. Was going to say a poor man's Hilton but it would be more accurate to say Ritz prices with a sub Motel 6 experience. If you have business in Back Bay, either the Sheraton or Hilton there will provide a far better experience. If you need to be in the financial district, the Langham definitely merits consideration. Not sure what the business case for this Hyatt is. Maybe airlines send their employees here so they will quit so the airlines do not have to pay severance. Later I may add what I overheard a Lufthansa employee say once I have read enough of the terms and conditions to know whether even non-English profanity is against Yelp terms and conditions. I am suddenly feeling quite smug about not wasting a Chase 5/24 slot on a Hyatt cobranded credit card. This is by a very longshot my worst hotel experience in the greater Boston area. I believe that Park Hotels and Resorts will be taking ownership of this property. In the unlikely event that Park should ever want to turn things around, they need to begin by replacing General Manager Greg Nomura. Definitely a spectacular HR failure by current ownership Chesapeake Lodging Trust for thinking Mr. Nomura could manage even a bottom tier property such as this. Maybe they knew the REIT was for sale so they did not care. The GM responded to a different post saying "I'm sorry to hear that your stay with us was only not satisfactory." He will be pleased to know that his team went above and beyond this time in order to not settle for a mere not satisfactory but rather reach a completely unacceptable. Given that Park is a Hilton spinoff, it would be logical for Park to rebrand the property and install professional management. read more

Well it is clean and conveniently located. My king size bed was as hard as the sidewalk. Don't expect the pool to be open. We stayed here 3 years ago and the pool was closed for maintenance. If I could leave -5 stars I would. I flew into Boston on Christmas Day and booked at the Hyatt Regency, I upgraded my room to a city view and it was supposed to be two queen beds. I get to our hotel and "Eric Hopkins" the night audit did not even greet us not a Merry Christmas nothing he rudely asked us for our IDs when we provided he told us that our reservation was guaranteed but not our room. Which is not true please see below as I attached image where you can see my room is supposed to be guaranteed as it was paid for prior!!!!!!!!! We have waited over two hours!!!!!! Because they gave our paid room away and the best thing Eric could do was offer a roll away bed for my stay. A ROLL AWAY BED. We refused as that is not what we paid for that is not what we agreed too. Not to mention that a couple with their child came after us and they gave them a room with double queen beds after he stated there was none. Eric has discriminated towards us because we are Hispanics. He called he security on us which did not leave our side as if we were some sorts of criminals!!!! We are paying customers. The Hyatt will never ever get another booking from us and we will make sure to escalate this as high up as possible. What was supposed to be the start of a wonderful Christmas vacation has turned into a nightmare needless to say we canceled our reservation at the hyatt and took our business elsewhere. Hyatt should educate their staff and have more pleasant employees who know the basics of customer service. Eric refused to speak to us and only to Expedia. The exercise room was nice, and the room service and food, albeit expensive, was good. I don't understand though, why I could order a pot of coffee via room service all night, but at 4:30 am, I had to walk to 7-11 because there was no where in the hotel that served a cup of coffee until 6:30. The shower in the bathroom was slightly old, with very old fixtures, and I couldn't get the water warmer than tepid. read more

I am surprised by the mediocre reviews and rating (3.5 stars) after staying here. Obviously, the location is spot on. You are a couple short blocks to the Common; smack dab in the middle of theater row; and a block from Chinatown. Service was pretty high. I find the Hyatt Grand and Regency generally have a very good customer service and this place was on par with that. Parking is high and a bit of b*tch. But so is every other place nearby, so it's not a knock. [Don't bring a car if you can help it.] The rooms are pretty spacious for the price and location. Ours was clean and tidy when we arrived. We got a suite with a view and that was worth the extra dollars. Strangely, the "junior suite" didn't have a window in the "living room", but the view from the bedroom made up for it. I guess that's why it's a "junior". There are alot of choices in this area, but I'd stay here again if I need to be in downtown Boston. read more

This place is pretty nice. I went here for a conference with doctor low dog a few years ago. The set up for the conference was actually beautiful with a harp player and the Hyatt offered a open bar. Dr Andrew Weil's personal chef did prepare the lunch for the conference so it was very healthy and unlike anything we had ever tasted. What was most impressive was the view of the Boston skyline from the banquet room it's self. However, I was less then impressed with the small room that we got as well as the not so awesome view of the parking lot from the room. The walls for the room seemed paper thin. We could hear everything that was said from the hallway in the back. We also could not help but to realize that they had originally mixed up the reservation that they had originally given us and that the wheel chair accessible room was the only room that they had left. During our stay, the fire alarm also went off in the middle of the night. How awesome was that? read more

I usually go on Yelp at the end of a day to unwind and be alone without anyone bothering me and to blow off some steam of which I have a lot. Usually I don't give up my secret places in Boston which I love and keep to myself and my gang. But I've grown fond of some Yelpers so I will share a little. (I know BFD) THe Hyatt Regency in Downtown Crossing has a great bar. They call it............drum roll..........THE LOBBY BAR. yeah no imagination but whatever. This big giant room has tons of couches and comfy chairs, great drinks, and FREE FOOD every day from 4 to 7. They also have music sometimes. No one is ever there and it is very nice. Now don't tell anyone this part. I'm serious. Wear a bathing suit under your clothes, sneak into the elevator up to the pool and walk in behind someone with a key and you won't believe the giant beautiful pool and hot tub. Towels. Locker room. Drink, Swim, Drink again and screw out the door. yeah baby it's the little things in life. No one has ever said a thing. I think it's because of how good I look in a speedo. or not. We traveled with a group. The hotel is in a great location. It was basically walking distance to everything we wanted to do. It was clean and the service was great. The doorman always offered assistance in directions. I had a little bump with the elevators and the employee I dealt with was not helpful, but other than that everyone else was great. read more

We've stayed at this hotel twice now, with a third visit planned in about a month. I'm a Hyatt Platinum member, so I try to stay at Hyatt's if it makes sense for the purpose of the trip I'm on. As opposed to the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, this one is much more convenient to the T, which is nice. Downtown Crossing is only a two minute walk away, and we can take the passageway to Park Street very easily to grab the green line to Northeastern, where our daughter is studying. Having Chinatown so close is a big plus for us. On nice days, we love to walk around and see the sights and smell the smells of that cool part of town. We're beginning to find some places we love to visit in the area, for lunch, or coffee or just a drink. There are many options, and as I said above, the T is so close you get anywhere easily enough. Like most Hyatt's, I'm not a huge fan of their bars or restaurants. Limited menu choices become old after a few stays. Prices are high, and often the quality isn't matched with the price. A couple of minor incidents during our last stay made me reconsider focusing on staying here when we come next - a loud neighbor next door, blasting his TV or music. At 11:00 p.m. (we had a very early flight) I finally went up the shared door and yelled "Turn it down!" and they did, but it was first time I had ever had to deal with noise in my Hyatt experience (and I stay in Hyatt's all the time, at least one week a month). The other nit was when we went down for breakfast on Friday morning and showed up at 10:33. The host told us that we were welcome to order off the menu until 11:00, but that the buffet was now closed. What? You serve breakfast until 11:00, the buffet is the only real deal you have because your prices are so high, and you're telling me that you're closing it 30 minutes early to clean up? There were people up there as we spoke to him, getting food from the buffet! Sorry, but that doesn't cut it with me. Either you serve breakfast until 11 or not - buffet or not. We choose not - and went to Boston Common Coffeehouse for some nice breakfast for a hell of a lot less money. Oh well, it is a clean property, the service is usually impeccable, and the location is great. Weird that you have no stairs option to get to from the lobby to the street level, you often have to wait several minutes for an elevator to take you down one floor. I'll stay here again, I'm sure, but I can't give them ringing praise. read more

Stayed at Hyatt for the past 2 nights while visiting Boston. For $180/night, I was a little bit disappointed: 1. No free internet?! Even the paid-for internet speeds were unacceptably slow for a 4-star hotel in downtown Boston. I was disconnected at least 12 times within a span of 2.5 hours. 2. The alarm clock in my room was preset for 7am... Really? Is it that hard to make sure alarm clocks are turned off? Luckily, whoever stayed in my room didn't want to wake up at 5am or I woulda been triply pissed. 3. My room was right by the ice machine where you could hear people (especially drunk ones) all night long. There needs to be some kind of discount for a room with this type of locational issues. 4. There is no refrigerator, only a "refreshment center" which will immediately charge your room account when you remove an item. These items include $5.25 juice, $9 vodka, $23 white wine, $3.75 Oreo, $7 M&M's, $8.25 cashews, and many more great deals... "The refreshment centers are not intended for use as a refrigerator, especially for medications. A $25 restocking fee will be applied for emptying of your refreshment center." 5. No fan in the bathroom...to get rid of shower steam of course, not that I stink it up in there. read more

Another day in Boston; another Hyatt. Thank you baby Jesus: this one is so much better than the one in Cambridge! I mean, really, so much better. The most comfortable bed ever. California king with enough bedding to drown you. AND N64 games, true story. I almost stayed in my room for the entirety of the trip, but then I would've been fired. The carpet in the room is relatively clean - as clean as carpets can be. Decent fitness facilities and a pool. My room didn't have any more power outlets than the Cambridge room, but there was an iHome dock, which charged my iPod, so yay. Location is decent, not exactly central but the walk to more happenin' areas isn't too long either. Chinatown is right around the corner! read more

I'm going to preface this by being brutally honest in that Hyatt Regency based on Yelp reviews alone would not have been my first choice for a quick weekend trip, but Priceline locked me in saying it was 4-stars and was in the neighborhood I selected and that was that. Complaints read ranged from the use of two elevators and uncomfortable beds to outdated accommodations and unfriendly staff; I did not experience any of these: Customer Service: We arrived around 10:30am knowing full well that check-in was at 4pm with the expectation that we would have to leave our bags with the concierge to kill time around town until we had access to our room. Imagine my surprise when the lovely front desk attendant told us that our room was all ready and that we could head on up. She gave us the choice of moving to a room on a higher floor which we took and ensured a great city view to boot...already off to a great start. Hotel/Room: The fact that you need to take two elevators, one from the entrance to the lobby and one from the lobby to your floor isn't a deal breaker for me. People who complain about elevators and length of time to get to their room need to slow down just a little bit, a silly thing to quibble over. The floor layout was a little odd, triangular shaped and the arrows marking the direction of room numbers were a little confusing...I'm also a little slow, but the room attendant on the floor walked us to where we needed to go. The room was pretty standard, king size non smoking, shower with nice water pressure and comfortable mattress. The bathroom vanity could have used a paint job, but I can't in good conscience knock points for a downtown hotel that sees a lot of action. Location: PERFECT. I honestly don't think I could have selected a better block to be on. We had tickets to see a show at the Wilbur Theater, we were mere blocks away. Three blocks from the common and only a few further to the public garden; an easy walk to back bay, Quincy Market, Newbury shopping and many great restaurants and bars. Each time we left the hotel we were asked if we needed a cab or directions anywhere; you really don't need a cab to get around unless it's icky weather, everything is within a 30 minute walking radius. Two thumbs up and a four-stars to this Hyatt, after a great stay I would absolutely recommend this hotel to anyone else staying in the Boston area and would book it again for myself in a heartbeat. read more

This hotel is terrible. No place to put my folded clothes. My closet is 2' wide, half is a shelving unit the other half a clothes rod that might hold 10 hangers. When you travel for your job and stay somewhere for at least 8 days you have more than 8 items to hang. I can't have the closet doors open and get into the bathroom. Great hotel! A little confusing at first cause the only back to the ground floor is by taking two elevators. The pool and exercise area are nice. I really like this hotel! Not sure what it looked like pre-renovation but it's really modern and updated and clean. Bluetooth enabled speakers, plenty of outlets and USB ports, great working or lounging space, etc. Room service is great. I ate a lot in the room because it was time between presentations to answer emails and get some quiet time. The food is really good, with lots of options at any time of day. Organic chicken salad, salmon, poached shrimp, egg white omelette, white bean soup--all very good. Sad note: my scallops were over cooked hard little nuggets. :( My favorite is the gym! Free early morning yoga once a week, with heated pool, plenty of cardio machines and weights. Made traveling so much more comfortable! read more

Would I stay here again? Not a chance. You'd think a Hyatt in Downtown Boston paying over $100 a night would be classy. You'd think letting them know we'll be there for a WEEK on our honeymoon would solicit someone actually putting forth some effort. You'd think, and you'd be wrong. This hotel was the WORST I've ever stayed at, and I've stayed at some pretty trashy $32/night motels. Here's just a list: No hot water two out of seven days. Didn't change room twice Had to fight to get "late" checkout (1p instead of noon) Took 2 days and multiple complaints to deliver two robes. The lobby setup is horrendous. You have to take an elevator from street level to the lobby, then another to your room. Expensive! You pay for EVERYTHING. Want a mini fridge? $15 a night. Want to just use the minibar to keep soemthing cold. $25. The food and bar were more expensive than much nicer places within a 5 minute walk. Rude staff. The bell hops were nice. But the concierge was a complete bitch, and most of the front desk people were too busy flirting to worry about the guests. Super thin walls. We could hear EVERYTHING going on, even the maid making the bed. I feel bad for our neighbors as this was our honeymoon week... N64? really? "Play the latest and hottest N64 games" the TV would say. I didn't realize I was still in middle school. Yelp removed the picture of the three used needles I found in the lobby bathroom. Talk about trashy. This around 8pm, too, not some weird hour. I would say it was nice of them to "upgrade" us to a Junior Suite for our Honeymoon, except a suite was just a normal room at any other hotel. I guess the Junior Suite has an extra chair? Oh, and since they upgraded us we got to listen to the construction on that side of the building every morning starting at 7am. The only real pro was the location. This review is a warning to future guests based on our first experience with Hyatt hotels. Admitting that I am spoiled by Starwood hotels due to their immediate response to any issues at their properties. Mistakenly thought that some of the Hyatt hotels could be on the same level as well. You would think that all the hotels owe a duty of care to the guests, to protect them against accidental, negligent, and intentional acts of their employees. The Hyatt hotels do not think so (yes, I am judging the whole group based on that one experience). The emails, phone calls, feedback submissions do not do the job. It took that particular hotel that long to acknowledge and to admit the problem. Be careful, and there are better and safer options for your stay in Boston. read more

It's a bit pricey, but that is expected in this area of Boston. The hotel is immaculate and very modern. The rooms are very well kept, the bathroom was nicely sized with modern details. The folks working at this hotel were very professional and courteous. We've always had pleasant experiences at Hyatt hotels, including the one in Washington D.C. The only reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is due to the nightly rate (which I'm sure fluctuates from season to season) and because the hotel charges you to print/use their business center computers/printers. For almost $300+ per night the customers pay, I feel like the use of the business centers should be free/included. read more

You were within walking distance of most areas of the city, even if not much was directly next to the hotel. We had a suite with a balcony - the view was amazing and the suite was huge. I stayed here because of a wedding in town. The price was high, but their AAA rate was significantly lower. It was clean, the bed was soooooooo comfortable, and they were all so friendly and polite. They also only changed the towels/sheets when you want in a bid for eco-friendliness. The hotel bar served as a good meeting place, the bartender knew what he was doing. I don't know anything about this unfair employee business, which is worrisome. But as far as the rooms and staff there, it was a good experience. read more

Great location! 2 blocks from from the Green Line, 2 blocks to the park, 15 min walk to North End, 15 min walk to Back Bay/Copley Square, 15 min walk to the aquarium, 5 min walk to financial district, 5 min walk to chinatown Horrible gym... Has plenty of machines and all, but located on the 6 floor and you pass all the rooms, walk down the stairs, access the area with your key card, walk down more stairs, and go through another door... I swear you're in the basement! Saline pool you say??? it wreaks of chlorine to me! another issue...the elevators. You have to wait and take two sets. One set for the rooms and another for the lobby areas. It wasn't for safety reasons either, because you can access room floors without a keycard. Room is very spacious. One thing I've been noticing about Hyatt hotels recently; barn doors with glass for the bathrooms. Not just here, but in NYC and silicon valley/Santa Clara, CA. No privacy. I went to the grand opening of the terrace tonight - near the avenue in the hotel. the event was lackluster, a few nibblits of fish tacos floating around (i really dislike that name due to the other meaning behind it).... and the drinks were on the $$$$$ side for what you got. That being said, however, I think this place has real promise. I really like outdoor venues for the summer time, and although it is not flashy, it is hella convenient to a lot of different things, and the tables were comfy, or it would just be a good place to mingle around. I come to Boston quite frequently and hadn't found a hotel that I love, so I've bounced around and stayed at the Omni, the W, and the Ames, among others. I booked the Hyatt Regency for my two night stay and am really happy I did. The front desk staff was wonderful from the start. I spoke with Kelvin numerous times during my visit (check-in, to ask for an umbrella, check-out) and he was incredibly professional and friendly. I had a question about my bill after checking out and he was quick to address my concerns and ensure I was happy. My room was a great size and I appreciated that they have so many channels available on TV. So many hotels don't have Bravo and their reality TV shows are my guilty pleasure, so I was happy to see I could watch Bravo here. I ate breakfast at the hotel both days and was impressed by the selection. The blueberry muffins were especially delicious!! Overall, I had a great experience and will use always use this hotel going forward. read more

We booked through Priceline at the last minute for the week of July 4th and got a great deal at the Hyatt Regency Boston. Based on some of the reviews I had lower expectations and was pleasantly surprised. Pros Hotel is in a great location in the theater district and borders Chinatown. Hotel is walking distance to most things and close to transit. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Room was really clean and had black out shades. Allowed for a late check-out at our convenience. Cons Bed was little uncomfortable. Have to pay for internet. The hotel was so close to everything we were able to stop in and take an a/c break throughout the day. Our room also overlooked the fireworks and when we didn't want to endure the heat anymore we had a great view. read more

Hyatt has this complicated elevator system where from the entrance of the building you have to take an elevator up to the lobby and then obviously take another elevator to you're room. Why did they have to make it uber complicated like that?! Anyways, Checked in around 8PM, I requested a double bed but didn't have one so they gave me the king sized bed. Went to my room, pretty decently sized had the king sized bed, tv (non plasma) on top of the cupboard, desk, chair, and sofa chair. I would give it a 2 star for decor not up to the 4 star standard by all means. Next morning 8AM, I'm awoken by the housekeeping shouting Spanish across the hallway and vacuuming the rooms. I realized the walls are way too thin and they positioned my room right in from of the ice maker room + housekeeping closet. After being annoyed, went out that day+night and when I came back, I see that my room was not made. I call the front desk and they tell me that if you did not leave the place by 10 AM and take off the privacy by 10 AM, then you will be exempt from room service. All they could do for me was bring up fresh towels which basically didn't do much at all! If you're an early bird and don't care much for the decor, stay here. If you have already booked the Hyatt, make sure to request a room away from the ice maker and the housekeeping closet. read more

My stay last weekend at The Hyatt Regency Boston was nothing short of awesome. I arrived, sweaty and all stressed out from trying to navigate myself and my heavy suitcase by foot from South Station using only my trusty map app and zero sense of direction. I must have looked like quite a sight when I rolled in, but WIlly the concierge was immediately by my side, helping me with my bags & escorting me up to the reception desk to check my things until my room was ready (I was a little early). They offered me an early check in room with two double beds instead of the king I had booked, but since I had planned to do some exploring before I checked in anyway, I opted just to wait for my king room. I was, however, very impressed that they offered to get me in right away if I wanted to switch. They took my cell number at the front desk, gave me bag check tickets for later and promised to call me the minute my room was ready, which they did, an hour before actual "check in time". Beautiful! The location is perfect...central to everything and anywhere I wanted to go was an easy walk under 2 miles (as long as you don't get lost, which I did, many times, but Boston is such a beautiful city, who cares??). My room was clean, comfortable, spacious and perfect after an exhausting day of exploring. The shower was roomy with a waterfall showerhead that was just so relaxing. The mini fridge was chilling the bottle of chardonnay I had brought along and I was happy as can be getting ready for my night out with the girls. The front desk came through once again with great directions to the totally convenient T stop where I was headed. Right around the corner. could not possibly be easier. Room service the next morning was on point! (I had planned to take myself to brunch but a late night and a slight hangover told me it was a better idea just to stay in and i do not regret it.) I ordered the roasted veggie frittata with sage olive oil and mozzerella cheese, chicken sausage and a pot of coffee. I am still dreaming about that breakfast. It was heaven. Checkout was a breeze and Willy was there again with a big smile and kind words when it was time for me to leave my bags for a few hours until my departure time. he was the sweetest and made my trip that much more enjoyable. The only possible minuses were my less than amazing view out my window and the fact that i couldn't seem to get the ipod dock to work, but honestly, I am probably just an airhead and I didn't book a room with a view anyway, so who cares?
