Extremely POOR SERVICE I'm a gold Hyatt passport member, and generally like staying at the Hyatt but this was REALLY poor. I definitely will never stay I wait on the phone to order room service and no one answers for five minutes. I call front desk and tell them and they say they'll place the order for me - a tomato soup with bread, pretty simple right? I ask them nicely if it's possible if I could get it asap as I've just come off a flight and am tired. It is now 48 mins later and I've called the front desk to find out what is going on. This is SOUP, not exactly Michelin fare. Front desk says they'll call me back in three minutes to find out what's gone on. I wait 15 and call the front desk. Sean tells me that it's on it's way (thanks for calling me back in "3minutes") and that they don't make soup at this time and had to make it up from scratch. It's on the house but that doesn't matter. I would have slept of is known it would take this long and if it takes an hour and ten minutes and FOUR calls from me without a returned call then you can't call yourself a professional hotel. Poor service, really dropped the ball on this one Hyatt. Update : I ate a packet of chips that I had in my bag. Update : the soup took an hour and 15 minutes and THEY STILL CHARGED ME and didn't bring the bread. Extra update: ten minutes later a couple are trying to get into my room - the moronic staff have given the same room to someone else. Seriously???! read more

Hyatt Regency Boston is a fantastic hotel with a wonderful staff! Tim at the front desk went above and beyond to make sure we had the best stay ever and we even received a complimentary room upgrade! It's something I'll never forget! The service at this hotel was just so memorable. The staff really make you feel welcome! We had an absolutely fantastic room for our first night in our new city! We didn't want to check out! The bed was super comfortable. Plus, we had a great breakfast on our patio and an awesome swim in their indoor pool. The location is great too. I don't have a single bad thing to say about this hotel. It's top notch and I highly recommend staying here! read more

This is the Newer Hyatt, located in the heart of Chinatown, really, and is close to many familiar Boston landmarks. When we arrived, there were fresh Fuji apples in the lobby but and EMPTY serving station for hot apple cider. Clean room with double beds seemed a bit crowded, but the bathroom was quite spacious. Really enjoyed the HOT showers. Wi-Fi available for a fee. Loved that they offer the traveller conveniences - toothpaste, toothbrush, slippers, bathrobe, sewing kit, make-up mirrors and the list goes. on. All you need to do is call the front desk or room service and all these things can be had gratis. Those are a few things you won't need to pack for your next trip! Had breakfast a la carte since we were late for the buffet. My coddled eggs with prosciutto and arugula were excellent. Our waiter was friendly and efficient. Coffee is served in a mini thermos. I was going to complain that it was not hot, but it was pointed out to me, I had added cold creamer to it. Valet parking recommended for this part of town ($50/day with unlimited in and out). Bonus, on checking out, the porter also placed all our luggage in the car before we actually took the car out a final time. I was pleasantly surprised by my stay at the Hyatt Regency. It had been recently remodeled and it shows. Positives: - Rooms are well-designed. There is a couch with a small table and above the couch is a bright light (why are so many hotel rooms so darkly lit?) with outlets/plugs on it. There are plugs everywhere which is also the downfall of older hotel rooms. For whatever reason, I also loved the fact that above the bench that you could use for your luggage or just resting your weary feet, there are hooks for you to hang your clothes. I seldom stay in hotels long enough to want to use the closet (and am worried about leaving clothes behind) and the hooks minimize the chances of that happening. - The people working registration were really helpful and nice. It's the little things. A free bottle of water upon check in? Yes, I'll take that! The only oddity about this hotel is that the lobby isn't on the ground floor so you enter the hotel and then take an elevator up to the lobby. When I was there, only one of the three elevators was working. read more

Bathroom door pretty bad with chunk of missing wood. Bathroom on the small size. No fan in the bathroom. Ugh! Free wifi with my company rate Hate minibars! Why not give us a reg fridge. I bring my own snacks so I don't need yours. Nice tv. Limited channels. Typical hotel cable. Need a lamp next to bed that allows you to plug in charger in the lamp like the lamp on desk. Good thing I always carry an extension cord. I tweeted the hotel prior to my stay. To my surprise they sent a nice welcome note card and lobster gummies to my room. I travel to Boston regularly for work. I've stayed here at least five times in the past year, so I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in and they told me they were putting me in the special "Parlor room" with a cool low-to-the-floor bed with a unique bed frame. I thought I was getting Hyatt Gold special treatment. I walk into the room and was pissed to find that the "special bed" is a crappy Murphy bed with a dumpy old mattress. They switched me to a normal room, which makes me question why they didn't just put me there in the first place (clearly it was available). It was during the middle of a week, not a busy weekend. I don't know what they were trying to pull, but not cool to treat regular (or any) customers like that. This, in contrast to another Boston hotel I often use-- who surprised me this past week by putting me in the best room they had during my last stay because of my frequent visits. We had to book this hotel a little bit on the fly due to an unforeseen issue at another Boston hotel **cough Club Quarter Boston sucks cough**. Excuse me. Anyways, we literally booked here 15 minutes before arriving via Priceline and phoned in to make sure they allowed pets cause of the above mentioned issue. Maddy (I'm changing names cause I don't want anyone coming for me for using real names) answered and assured us that they were pet friendly. To be honest, for booking with such short notice, the hotel was not very expensive. We arrived and were pleasantly surprised that they had attached parking. Given that we had brought their crate and bed it was lovely to be able to bring all our luggage over without having to walk across any street. We go to check in and Maddy is immediately enamored with our dogs. She checks us in, informs us of the pet fee and that we'll have to let housekeeping know when we are out with our dogs so that they can clean the room. We thought that was reasonable since they don't want the dogs to jump on the staff or run out. We get to our room and it is quite large with a king bed and a couch. Even had a mini fridge and coffee maker. Did I mention that we got complimentary water and $10 credit towards food each day of our stay? Yasss! The bathroom was clean and decent sized with a tub/shower. We had more than enough clean towels and soap. This review is really more of a 4.5 star review and the reason is the bed. It was clean as was the whole room and the bathroom but it was somewhat uncomfortable. Maybe it's cause I'm used to memory foam (I'm a bougie bish apparently) but I couldn't quite find a comfortable position to sleep in. The pillows did t help either. They were at first to high but them flattened to nothing. Overall though I highly recommend this hotel. They have lovely staff and their rooms and large. Bed could have been better but it wasn't horrible. Plus they love dogs about as much as I do. read more

Perfect spot in the center of Boston. My partner and I absolutely loved everything about our stay, we got a city room view and the room itself was stunning and clean. All of the receptionists at the front desk and concierge answered any questions and were very pleasant and nice. Our room did not come with a microwave but when I called the front desk asking how I could warm my food, he had sent someone up with a microwave in hand! We will definitely stay here again when in Boston. read more

This hotel does well on its hard product, but the soft product could use some improvements. Location and the gym are the best things this hotel has going for it. The gym is large, has two sets of free weights, two cable machines, exercise bikes and real spinning bikes, rowing machines, various other cardio machines and a lot of functional training items like kettle bells, battle ropes, etc... There is also a pool, but no hot tub. Room 1908 1908 was nice and spacious. The city view was decent. There was a Keurig with coffee and tea K-cups. The best thing was that there were plenty of plugs in all the right places. There was a love seat and chair and an oval table, but no official desk or desk chair. This was fine by me, but the table height was a bit high for using a laptop while on the love seat. My only con was the shower head had weak pressure. Breakfast room service was good and delivered on time. Housekeeping didn't give me a new order form for the second day of my stay so Hyatt lost the sale there and I decided to go out and find a better local breakfast. (Lots of cafes nearby...) The 5 star I gave this place 4 years ago was lost this time owing to their reservation system. One morning of my stay I got two emails one to check out and one to check in. I texted the hotel and received a quick reply back saying they saw that I was indeed not yet checking out. All morning though house keeping kept asking me if I was checking out. When I got back to my room at 8p my key card would not open the door (even though it worked on the elevators). A housekeeper nearby had no radio to call for help -- but let me into the guest room she was cleaning - someone else's room - to use their phone. The front desk finally sent someone up with new keys for me and the staff just randomly handed them to me in the hallway. This situation was full of frustrations and security issues. read more

3.5 stars rounded up. I stayed here on points thanks to Chase Ultimate Rewards. It was the end of a holiday weekend, so we were only here for a night. I went to check in while my friend was parking the car. I had some fragile items that couldn't be sent up with the luggage cart, so I was visibly lugging items while I was waiting in "line" at the reception. I say "line" because despite the velvet ropes, the patrons of this place don't bother waiting in line. I got cut in line not once, twice, but thrice but rude men. The receptionist who eventually helped me was extremely apologetic since she saw it happen the last two times, and felt bad that she couldn't do anything else until her current guest was done processing. Overall, I think they need to do a better job at establishing the line since the existing method obviously doesn't work well. Room: Well, I don't know if it was because of the rude reception experience, but we were upgraded to the Lafayette Suite. It was huge and had double exposure. I was glad we weren't too high up since the elevators are slow. The fridge barely worked. It was really quiet. I don't have status but have stayed at Hyatts sporadically in the last 2 years. The rooms are really dated (consider that I was at a new Hyatt Place for two nights prior). We didn't spend much time here but it was a nice enough stay. Toiletries: Meh... they can do better. Building: Expect to spend quite a bit of time in elevators as reception is on the 3F and not street level. Parking: It's expensive, so we self-parked it and uber'ed and cabbed it the rest of our stay until we left. Location: Pretty convenient for touristy stuff and cabs aren't that $$. read more

Worst hotel experience ever. Went to Boston for a work trip, planned to stay at this hotel. Check in was only at 4 PM as the rooms were being "cleaned". The receptionist was very rude and unfriendly. After 30 minutes of me explaining that I had to shower before my meeting, he decided he could accommodate me by letting me shower in the wellness club. Well, at least something. Wellness club had tiny lockers with no locks! Only one shower, that was disgusting. Anyway, after my meeting I went back to the hotel because it was passed 4. The room was ready. Went into the room. Huge yellow stain in the middle of the carpet. The toilet had black stains inside. The shower was a little less disgusting than the one at the wellness club. Long story short, don't stay at this hotel. For the same price you can do so much better! read more

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. From the lobby, to the hallway, to the elevators, to the rooms, to the view - you get the idea. I stayed on the 14th floor, and the view from my room was fantastic. I could see the all the way down to the water tower in Dorchester. The room was clean, modern, spacious and very comfortable. I liked that the bathroom had a phone - that's always fun to see. I wish the bathroom had an exhaust fan because the mirror fogged up after my shower and took forever to de-fog. I wasn't a huge fan of their pillows - they were a little too squishy. I could have asked for new ones, but I was too lazy. My friend did ask for a toothbrush and toothpaste on her way into the hotel, and a bellhop brought some up right away. So nice! Overall, this is a great place to say. It's only a few short blocks from the T and there's parking right under the building. read more

The front desk staff was very nice, gave us a room with a beautiful view. Doorman, lower floor concierge were all excellent. They were totally understanding about our delayed check out because I wasn't feeling well. Also let us check our bags for a few hours after we had already checked out. The bad: Had a quick meal at the bar before heading to the afc championship game and the service was perhaps the strangest I've ever received. Drinks and orders took awhile despite the bartender standing right in front of us, not busy. My friend ordered an arugula salad and wasn't told they were out until a good 15-20 minutes later... With that in mind food took forever to come out for an appetizer spinach dip and a Caesar salad. The drinks were ok, food was decent, considerably overpriced however. Also, I ordered a lobster grilled cheese from room service, it was good but I spent all night and the better part of the next day puking. I can't even look at lobster these days.... The lady that seemed to be the night manager really made my first stay in Boston awesome. We got the King's corner room on I believe the top floor. It was an amazingly spacious room with a terrific view of the capital building. The only downside is that parking is additional, but I believe they have a discount with their garage. Unfortunately, we had a Thule on top of our Explorer so we didn't fit. Instead we had to take our chances with street parking / towing... We got lucky. Also, you have to go through a lobby and up the elevator to get to the main hotel lobby. It's really not that bad. We did notice a lot of people were there to be what seemed like just to hotel party. We were actually told by someone that a lot of locals go there for hotel parties. We were assured on our floor we wouldn't have any issues, and of course we didn't. Great place with the exception of the parking issue. read more

Stephen, the concierge as amazing, full of information, so happy to help, and he guided us to the St. Patrick's Day Parade with no problems at all. We ended up with front-row seats, near the start of the parade! I rarely tip a concierge unless they really provide more than just recommendations or a reservation, but I tipped Stephen for all his great help. The hotel is very nice and well located, but nothing really stood out. There was no eConcierge outside of a guaranteed early check-in and stocking the fridge. I took advantage of both and was pleased with the results. As an "Explorist" I am provided two bottled waters per-day, which was hit or miss. No room for a rollaway, so my wife and daughter shared one queen bed. We didn't dine onsite. One morning we had no hot water, the next day the hot water came out milky. And, checkout was a bit of a mess, but, quickly corrected. Overall, we had a nice stay. read more

This was generally a nice 4star hotel. Still there was one rough spot which I hope they will remedy. I hope to stay with them and other Hyatts again, but hope we won't come across this again. This rough spot was the mattress liner; it has some strange brown stains near the head of the mattress. Personnel all very polite and accommodating. They served us breakfast with a smile, helped with our luggage happily. We're very grateful. Privacy sign on will prevent the cleaning crew from coming in, unlike some places. All good except for the dirty mattress liner. That rough spot brought down my rating by 2 stars from 5 because I think that was not good at all. read more

RE: Restaurant / Bar Service. We did not stay in a room, we are locals. Decided to check this spot out after seeing a matinee at The Opera House. If it's a Sunday afternoon, and the bartender is a male, I believe by the name, Tim, go somewhere else. My partner and I decided to sit just away from the bar because all those seats were taken. I went to the bar to let the bartender know and politely asked whether we needed to order our drinks at the bar due to where we were seated. You would think, at a hotel bar IN the city, the manners would be top-notch. He proceeds to tell me "You're here now, you can order now." Umm... how about some menus?? He gives me a drink menu and says, "Are you eating too?" My God.... not rocket science when a customer walks in the door, who clearly has never been there before to ask how orders are handled. He couldn't be bothered to do his job. I did inform the manager and we did end up of going elsewhere. That place left a bad taste in our mouths and we will definitely not recommend it. While the manager wanted to fix the issue, we didn't feel it warranted our time, energy or money. It's quite simple, you're in the services industry, expect to serve others with manners. read more

Had the opportunity to stay at the Hyatt Regency in Downtown Boston on a recent business trip. Hotel staff is all extremely nice and really put the guests first. Room was bright clean and modern. I had a corner suite which was nice with a cool view of the downtown area. Room service is 24 hours, it is a bit on the higher side of price but nice if you're craving a late night snack/drink. The thing i enjoyed the most was the location. It is located right in the middle of downtown so there's ample shopping, restaurants all within walking distance. I'd highly recommend for anyone staying in the Boston area read more

This hotel is really nice. We were here on vacation, and although it seems more like a business hotel, it has been a great place to stay. The breakfast was good, especially the pancakes, but there aren't very many options, especially a buffet. More of a variety would have been nice. The hotel rooms are comfortable and relatively spacious, but the sheets on the bed are very thin, especially for a hotel. The shampoo and conditioner are not very effective at all; you have to use A LOT to get either to feel like you're putting anything in your hair. Also, since they only provided us with 2 key cards for 4 people, it's very hard to get into the hotel room... especially since you need a key card to make the elevator go up. Other than that, the hotel is very nice, clean, and it smells great. The workers are also very friendly and accommodating, as well as all services being very fast and efficient. read more

My wife and I had a time share we had to use by the end of the year and the Hyatt in Boston was an option. I have always wanted to see Boston and this was a perfect chance. We got a refrigerator for the room which was perfect for food and beer and soda. The bed was a perfect king size bed which had a wonderful bed pillow under us. Heavenly. We were warned about the mini fridge with drinks so we didn't even open it. I can't understand why people would get charged when they didn't want to since they have about 3 warnings that if anything is moved you will be charged. We woke up every morning about 5:30 and headed down to the awesome fitness center and hit the elliptical machines. Great facility. We were on the 22nd floor and had a great view of South Boston and Chinatown. The only minus was there were only 20 channels on the TV, but we were hardly in our room. It was weird that you had to take an elevator to the lobby, but the doormen were very friendly and overall the staff was awesome. They only gave us one coffee packet a day and I asked for more and within 20 minutes I had 5 packs of them. Overall, it was a perfect location near Boston Common and the subway. Fajitas and Ritas was right around the corner which was fantastic and everything was about 15 minutes walking distance. A great hotel! read more

I am normally a Hilton girl. There is something about a hotel that is not super-expensive yet is still comfortable and full of amenities. But for Boston, we decided on the Hyatt. I had only stayed in a Hyatt once before and I remembered the experience as pleasant. We got to the hotel rather late since our bus did not pull in until 9:45 PM. First of all...What everyone else said is true: There are TWO lobbies. There is the main one when you first walk in then the check-in lobby a couple of floors up. Why this is? Don't ask me. Check-in was quick and simple, as it should be. We were quickly given our key cards (which are actually "tap cards" meaning you do not swipe them or slide them in, you tap them against the box on the door and poof! It unlocks). Upon entering our room, we realized how sweltering it was. We quickly blasted the a/c and began to poke around. The carpeting in this hotel is the plushi-est (word?) carpeting I have ever felt in my life! I literally wanted to stand and bounce on it all day. The rooms come with a mini-bar but if you dare move something, it automatically charges your room. The room itself was small but not horrible. There's a huge flat screen TV and an N64 if you want to get your old-school gaming on. The one thing I found odd was the fact that the bath towels were IN the shower on a shelf. Meaning if you moved the showerhead too far up, it would soak the towels. Not smart, no? They're doing construction at the moment so the "business center" is really just two computers and a small printer in the lobby. There is also a restaurant and bar downstairs. Breakfast is 6:30 to 11 AM on the weekends. I would definitely stay here again due to the location alone. There is a 7-11 and Dunkin Donuts right downstairs (I'm a coffee whore so I appreciated this) and there is a subway station right around the corner. Also the beds and pillows are very soft. I just wish the a/c was stronger but who expected a 90 degree day in May? read more

Dependable business hotel, modern shower and comfortable room. All you would expect from comfort and service and strength of shower. Issue with the hotel is with the elevators. you enter from the ground floor via elevator to the lobby and then take another set of elevators down the hall for your room. While this discourages vagrants and non-hotel guests, this could definitely annoy the heck out of a hotel guest staying for several nights. extra issue is that one of the guest elevators is under construction, furthering delays. So... you get alot of waiting. Lobby is gorgeous, and has a flavored fruit ice water served every day. Free wifi for the hotel guests. Fridge available for use in the room. Good central locale for all the haunts, especially being within a block of Chinatown and the interesting finds there. Theres a couple of nice cafes in the area for a cup of joe in the am. I'd come back for another stay, as I slept so well and adored the modern shower, but I need to be sure the elevators are all working. I can't stand waiting so long for a lift. I took the fire escape stairs as often as possible from the lobby access on floor 3. read more

We like to stay at Hyatt because they are pet friendly- usually. Apparently this one only takes service animals. The staff took care of us and helped us figure out what to do with our pets. Please call first and verify that they'll take your pet. read more

This was a pretty nice hotel within walking distance of a lot of things to do in Boston. It was about a 10-15 minute walk to the North End area. The room itself was really nice and had some awesome views of the city. You can tell the rooms are a little outdated, but nothing bad. Receptionists were very nice upon checking in. My wife and I checked out the pool but the pool water was too warm and it smelt like chlorine all up in that place. It's definitely a nice place to stay though and the best thing is that it is centrally located. read more

Id give it a five but the mini food kitchen was very bad. The pizza taste microwaved chewy and overpriced. The so called meals were less than the airline box style. Honestly, this is just a badly designed hotel/room. Everything about it is just made badly. The service staff isn't bad, but the hotel itself sucks. First, it's an architectural nightmare. You have to take two elevators to get to your room - one to the lobby, one to the other floors. Let that sink in. Once in the room, it's just like every part of it is designed to be irritating. There's no dresser. There's no desk or table. The TV is one of those TV's that's hardcore bolted to the wall and impossible to plug any inputs into. The pillows and comforter on the bed were both flat. The bathroom door in the 2-queen-bed room doesn't lock. And on and on. As mentioned, the hotel staff was fine, and they're the only reason this isn't a 1-star review. Whoever designed this hotel should quite simply be taken out back and shot. read more

I Really recommend the Hyatt. The location is central and the amenities are good. The bed was comfy and clean, and the room and bathroom were a good size. The gym was nice enough complete with locker rooms and a pool. I visited the gym and it comfortably had 15 people at once, so it's a good size for a hotel. There is a bar and restaurant as well as a gift shop, however none of these options were open 24 hours. The people at the front desk seemed to remember our names and provided good service. Overall no complaints, while the place isn't amazing in any sense, it certainly was convenient and comfortable, and had all the bases covered. Just about everything made sense here, (except perhaps the weird intermediate floor levels and some of the windy hallways) meaning they thought just about everything through so the customer isn't lacking. I wouldn't hesitate to come back and stay here. read more

This place is amazing! I love the Hyatt, my wife and I got married at the airport Hyatt, we honeymooned at the Hyatt in Aruba, and we frequent this one for a night out in downtown. They never disappoint! The room was spacious and spotless. The staff? You guessed it, extremely friendly! It was the middle of the winter and the pool was warm as always. Parking is 38 bucks (no in and out privileges) and 55 for valet. And the garage is connected to the hotel but is third party. If you enter Frm the garage or the streets, you have to take elevators up to the lobby cause you are in LL. You will see a concierge but don't confuse him as front desk. Lobby was impressive as well as the room. I like the individual work stations w outlets in the lobby. Unfortunately the rooms are not sound proof. I got rm 622 next to the ice machine, thank god people didn't use it often cause it scared the cr*p out of me when I heard it. I can also water running and others movements in the room I think above me cause there's no one next to me. But you can hear people talking in their rooms if you walk down the hallway as well in your room. Wifi is complimentary but I got kicked off so much I gave up. The gym was nice! Supplying earphones, wet and dry towels, water and indoor pool. Location. Awesome! Walking distance to subway, park, Chinatown, and shopping at Macy's and some other small shops. Overall impressive for the price I got Frm Priceline $81 (5 percent off for the holiday), total 100 bucks! Unfortunately, doesn't go towards member hotel points but it's okay. Had a nice 2-night stay. We went to the bar for a late dinner and the menu selection was very small - they only serve sandwiches and flat breads for mains! The restaurant needs to revamp the menu. read more

Traveling with kiddos This will be the only hotel I stay at in Boston. The price was right. The location was perfect. And the kids loved it. Check in was great. I was meeting a friend and wanted the rooms to be close. She had the note in her system and had us Together with a city view upgrade for free. The room was clean and the view was great. It's Boston so I know you pay a pretty price for hotels. The Hyatt was nice, rooms were clean and modern. Has all the amenities you need and in a great location for shops and restaurants. Near a beautiful park and China town. Right in the heart of the theater district. The restaurant was great for breakfast. Buffet or menu and we opted for the buffet. Had inlet station, eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, lots of pastries, some fruit, yogurt and cereal. All really good. We had two queen beds and there was plenty of room. Found this hotel on Expedia and thought the price and the reviews were right for me and my wife. Arrived at the hotel check-in and immediately got hit with an additional $50 out of nowhere for this "destination fee" that includes everything I don't need. Never again, Hyatt Regency Boston. Deeply disappointed. read more
