we stayed here on our complimentary hyatt nights. the hyatt regency phoenix was a very nice hotel. when we pulled up to the entrance, the valet were very helpful on where to park. they held our car for about half an hour without charging us while we quickly put our stuff in our room and went on our way. the room was pretty nice. nothing too spectacular, but really nice for a business hotel. we were in a room on the 21st floor and the view was pretty amazing! they have a nice restaurant for dinner on the 24th floor. it's pretty cool, you should check it out. there were these strange bunny-people statues at the terrace when we were going to breakfast. i thought they were super creepy. breakfast was just mediocre in my opinion, but our waitress, jerry was what made our experience pleasant! the elevator facing the city was pretty cool to ride in. my eleven month old daughter was surprised every time we'd start moving. i can't wait to stay here again when we're in phoenix next! read more

How nice are the people at the Hyatt? Somehow our reservation got lost - and after traveling 8 hours it was wonderful to have a very friendly staff member take care of it in one breath. Oh, and for our trouble? A high room with a view. The place was clean, all of the staff was friendly, and it was quite swank! The bar and grill downstairs had nice couches to sneak away from the conference and grab a brew to watch football with. My only recommendation would be to help the valet out with recommendations and directions -- or to have the concierge man the desk a bit more. read more

I came here for a company conference and the hotel is located downtown, however I wouldn't call it a true down town as there weren't that many "shopping" areas, just a few small shops. The day when I arrived, they had the Comica convention, the Hyatt staff was dressed down with T-shirt for the Comica convention and I thought it was unprofessional. I couldn't tell if they were the Hyatt staff or all the wierdos that was walking around the hotel. The front desk was just ok, nothing special. It is just too casual for a Hyatt Regency. The hotel rooms were decent and clean - no complaint there. The catering portion was amazing! I had opted for Gluten Free option, and the Catering manager - Suzie Wood went out of her way to accommodate my dietary needs. The last day of our conference, it was boxed lunch, she came up to me and asked what kind of salad I would prefer, later she brought over a flourless chocolate cake as a dessert for me - WOW!!! The reason I have to mention "WOW" is because I also came back from Hyatt Regency in Denver and requested Gluten Free option, 3 days - 7 meals, not one meal they had accommodated me with Gluten Free option even after I have requested multiple times - thus my meal was delayed every time. I really enjoyed my stay here. They are so close (across the street) to the convention center. They offer a wide array of amenities and also will store your luggage after check out for free. This was great since my conference ended later in the day and late check out was not available. I appreciated all of the dining options and the store downstairs. I didn't have a car when I was visiting and this made it really convenient for me the days I wasn't able to grab something at a nearby restaurant or drug store. read more

The lobby of this hotel gets my vote for creativity, art, colorfulness. Fun sculpture adorns the lobby; an oversized rabbit hanging from a balcony, and a swinging trapeze artist fills the open space above the main lobby. it's laugh provoking. The rooftop restaurant/lounge revolves to give you a great view of the Phoenix surrounds. They are open later for drinks and twinkling lights. only. The fact that they have spotty wireless reception in the lobby gets a -2 stars, and 2 stars for the fact that you have to pay $5 for 30 minutes to use their computer. The rooms are the nicely appointed updated rooms that you would expect in a Hyatt. The pool is nice, with lots of lined up lounge chairs. The pool is designed with many stairs entering the pool to create sitting areas--perfect! Who goes to these pools to really "swim", but if you do it is long enough to do a lazy lap. The pool area has some cacti and sculpture among the greenery. Einsteins in the lobby gives you a quick cheap option for breakfast or a snack. read more

While my room was neat and cleaned everyday and service was always with a smile, I did not receive 5 Star treatment from a young man by the name of AJ in the taxi area of the hotel via phone. It was the exact type of response and service I would receive in New York. NOT what I expected in a 5 STAR hotel in Phoenix!!! When I finally got back to the hotel and asked to speak to a Manager about my complaint, the young lady was courteous, and professional at all times and tried to appease me by giving me a courtesy voucher to have dinner at " Networks Bar and Grill.". Although this was a nice gesture, I still wanted to speak to a Manager and she assured me that someone would contact me before the end of the week. FYI!! NO ONE EVER DID!! Now, will I ever stay here again? Probably NOT. Don't try to appease me with anything for free, I just don't want this to happen to me again or any other guest coming from so far to have someone be so appalling as he/she speaks to guests over the phone! He should be sent for customer service RE-TRAINING or simply written up. Two to three star service starting from the Managers non- response. read more

Light in the bathroom possibly the most terrible I've ever experienced, pillows are ridiculously unsupportive, no coffee in the lobby in the morning (seriously, come on, all nice hotels do this... and the room machine coffee tastes horrid). Wifi is .5 mbps. Not 5. 0.5. And that's after I paid $20.00 extra to enhance the speed. I spent 2 hours with their tech support the first night. Today, I went to the desk and asked them to handle it from here. They said it's a 3rd party company. I said yes, but it's your hotel, not mine. I shouldn't have had to spend 2 hours with your tech support, and now I shouldn't be the one to solve this problem. The next guest will want the internet to work too. So, he agreed to solve it, but 8 hours later, no luck. I'm using my phone as a hotspot instead. read more

Phew, this place is expensive. Also, I don't understand why a 2 Queen bed is cheaper than 1 Queen or King bed room? When we arrived, the garage for this hotel's parking had a sign for being "temporarily full" so we valeted our entire stay (just the weekend) for twice as much. Gah. The lobby had the most amazing decor and our room was beautiful (but had thin walls) with a decent view of downtown. The hotel was in close proximity to restaurants, the US Air Center, Chase Field, public transportation, the Symphony Hall, the Convention Center...so location-wise, it's great. We had a mishap at the jacuzzi in the form of about 10 little kids and their parents with the kids going crazy jumping back and forth between the jacuzzi and the pool. To add to that, the jacuzzi wasn't even that warm. That isn't to say that this isn't a great hotel, they have a computer dedicated to printing out your boarding passes so that is helpful if you came without a computer. (Which we deliberately did because of their crazy internet charges...we also used my boyfriend's smart phone to get around that). If you need a rental car, they have an Enterprise IN the hotel, but you have to book early (we learned that the hard way). Would stay there again :) If not just to get points for your frequent flier miles program (don't forget to do that if you can!) read more

My review isn't so specific to the Hyatt Regency as it is the Compass Room inside of the Hyatt Regency hotel. If you're looking for a special place in Downtown Phoenix for a late-night drink or maybe a delicious bite of dessert paired with a bubbly glass of champagne, the Compass Room is definitely the place to go. Where else can you go to enjoy a 360-degree view of the valley that doesn't require hiking boots and a camelback backpack? The beverage menu is extensive, so they will be able to satisfy whatever you have a hankerin' for and the prices are only slightly higher than what you would pay at your non-rotating restaurant of choice. Service is always great and most importantly, the view is worth every penny. Bonus points if you bring folks from out of state. read more

Stayed here Friday night and had dinner at the Compass Arizona Grill. First, here's the good: staff is very nice and the restaurant was very good with a wonderful revolving room view. The lobby is nice and they have a hydration station to refill your water bottles you brought with you for free. I advise doing this as the bottled water in the room is $5.00! The balcony with the room is very spacious. Now for the not so good: Dated rooms and carpeting, super small bathroom with horrible lighting. No pull out magnifying make up mirror, so, if you normally use one, bring your own. The beds are old and worn on one side with very inexpensive bedding. The walls are very thin and the worse part is the loud door which slams and rattles the walls! All room doors face into a huge interior space that echos every door that slams shut. We had a bunch of drunken people in the room near ours who came in around 2:00am after the bars closed. They were laughing, yelling in the hall and slammed that door at least three times and the loud chatter and partying for another hour. Unfortunately the way the rooms are laid out we could not pinpoint which room they were in. We called the front desk and ask if they could investigate and all they said they could switch our room...at 3:00am we were not going to get dressed and pack to move! Other than the restaurant, I would not recommend this hotel if you like peace and quite at night to sleep. read more

i stayed here while I was in town for an Expo. If you need to be downtown in that area, you can't beat this location! We were right across the street from the Convention Center and there was an area with lots of restaurants and a big movie theatre that you could walk to. The hotel was really nice; clean, modern and upscale without being snooty at all. Very friendly staff. Pretty glass elevators with a great view of the city, a nice big lobby with lots of swanky seating and a nice business center to get copies made and things like that if necessary. Pretty nice gym as far as hotel gyms go and nice pool area. The hot tub was quite large and had very strong jets which saved me! The rooms were nice; comfortable beds and pillows, adequate electrical outlets (a pet peeve of mine when you can't find a place to plug in your phone!), spacious enough. On one of the days the maid service forgot to make up our room for some reason, but we let them know and they were apologetic and got us the next day. There are plenty of options to eat right there: a sports bar, a bagel/coffee shop, and a very nice revolving restaurant on the 24th floor called the Compass Grill. Compass had great service and wonderful views. The food was just ok, but it was worth it for the atmosphere. The only thing that really bothered me about this hotel was for some reason the room keys would not work properly! My room mate and I both had a constant issue with not being able to get into our rooms and had to keep going down to the front desk and getting new keys. That was a bummer. But other than that, I definitely recommend this hotel if you need someplace to stay in this area of Phoenix. read more

Stayed here on a Wednesday night. It was a busy place with some sort of Republican mayoral or governor party happening in the convention area. I'll grade each of the areas I used: Room: B Comfy. Seems like it was renovated in the last few years. Ample space. One knock: very, very few electrical outlets. Had to plug the iron in to the bathroom outlet. Check-in and staff: A Super friendly and quick. Lobby: A Big, spacious, yet inviting. Restaurant/bar: B Had a quick beer before turning in. People seemed to be enjoying themselves. Location: A In the heart of downtown. Close to everything. Intangibles: F $8.00 for water? We're in Phoenix. It's summertime. It's like 140 degrees out. $20 for internet? Are you kidding me? This is a very poor way to treat your customers - gouging them. I got this hotel for super cheap on expedia, so it was okay for a night, but based on principle alone, I would never spend more than one night here. read more

Extremely convenient location in the heart of downtown Phoenix. Couple blocks away from various restaurants, bars, and pharmacy/stores. Stayed here 1 night for an nfl football game. Just so happened an opposing NFL team was staying here and ended up in the elevator with a couple NFL players. The rooms are not overly large but just big enough. Rooms are not overly spectacular but were clean, had enough amenities, and comfortable beds. Service was excellent. There is a pool/spa and fitness center conveniently located. I enjoyed using these facilities. They also have an Einstein Bagel restaurant that serves delicious breakfast/snacks. Valet is easy to use but somewhat pricey. Would return. read more

We stayed at the Hyatt to celebrate my wife's birthday and to enjoy the views of the city from the Compass restaurant on the 24th floor. As we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and checked in promptly for our reservation - even got a nice birthday wish for my wife. The room was spacious and clean and they've even got smart TVs now that you can control with your smartphone. On the downside, while they did have a Kuerig coffee pot there were only coffee cups and no other cups for drinking. The coffee was just okay. Lighting in the room also left a bit to be desired and the beds weren't the most comfortable. We were also able to get a late checkout at 12:30, since we were up late for dinner the night before and didn't want to rush. All in all it was a pleasant stay. The hotel is situated right in the middle of the downtown area and it's convenient to get to most of the major venues quite easily - whether you're a fan of sports or music or other cultural events or places, many are within walking distance or a short Uber ride or drive away. The parking garage was a bit tricky to get out of - we had to call the garage operator, as it was Sunday and unmanned, to get a code to exit. read more

We stayed here for night in June. What we liked: - The desk people were really professional and courteous. Made us feel welcomed. They even quoted the request I made for a high floor on my Internet reservation (on the Hyatt website). - Room was comfortable and clean. - Enjoyed the Networks Bar and Grill. Good service from the young bartenders. It's a little better than a typical hotel bar because it is on a corner and has an entrance from the street. The place was a bit lively when people came in after the Diamondbacks game. It also a place to get some regular-sized food at a reasonable prices after our visit to the Compass Restaurant at the top of the hotel (see the next section for more info about that). - The wireless Internet was fast. Be aware the charge is $12.29 per day per device (that's $12.29 for each wireless device you connect). What we didn't like: - The Compass Restaurant. We went up there to enjoy the view from the revolving restaurant. They run it as a classy place. Beware: Small portions, BIG prices. Yes, they provided very attentive service here and I tipped them for it. We got more food later at the Networks Bar and Grill downstairs. NOTE: The menu they now have online is not the same as the menu he had that night. The menu now online looks more reasonable. It has appetizers and full entrees. The menu we had was a more expensive five course menu. - The pool is only 3 feet deep! It's 3 feet deep its entire length. Our daughter was disappointed when she went in it. That was one reason we only stayed one night there (had a great time at the Arizona Biltmore the following night). - Had to wait more than an hour for the free breakfast. They had some kind of service meltdown that morning. The juevos rancheros breakfast was excellent when it finally arrived. - The parking garage is across the street. You have to carry or cart your stuff across a street. No biggie for us but be aware. It is parking that you have to pay for. read more

Not bad for a business traveler. There are no safes in the room. I found this interesting. If you want to lock up something like jewelry or your ipad, you have to go to the front desk to do so. First arrival a nightmare. Get there valet man says we can park in ramp, if we would like is cheaper and elevator is right at side door NOT ! So I go to front desk and complain and the ditz tells me we can just drive back out and not pay because we were not there even 10 minutes. NOT told attendant what she said he said no. We explained what ditzy said, he said they have no right but he eventually let us. Took luggage out at front door and went back to parking lot. They did nothing to appease us till I went back down to the front desk. They sent up a lousy 4 cans of pop and crappy dried nuts and 4 granola bars at 9:30 p.m.! I am in the people business you are suppose to bend over backwards for your customers NOT Hyatt! I do not think I would ever tell anyone to stay there, between the parking nightmare and the nonchalant attitude of the front desk. read more

For some reason when I look up in yelp and I walk by the Einstein's in the Hyatt, it says it's an Einstein's. Went to go redeem my birthday coupon for a free sandwich with purchase and the lady said they won't accept it because they are owned by the Hyatt. Funny thing is that's where I signed up for the emails. Shame on those 2 companies, and more so on Einstein's for allowing their name to be attached to false advertisement. Poor customer service and poor business. I shouldn't have to go out of my way to find another Einstein's that is not close to me. No thanks, but I will never be going there again. read more

This hotel is located in downtown PHX. As you enter the lobby you are absolutely "wowed" because it is beautifully decorated, but as you go to your room you are absolutely disgusted. The walls need to be repainted (hallways and rooms) carpets need to be replaced !!!!!!! Not cleaned, REpLACed because they're filthy! Bedding also needs to be updated ! The rooms are somewhat clean, I found some hair in my tub!!! If it wasn't for the helpful nice staff... I would give this place NO STAR! Oh, and the pool is lined with plastic/rubber !!!! Horrible service! The staff had bad attitudes as if we were inconveniencing them. Breakfast was not included as advertised. We ordered room service and was told it would be ready in half an hour, 45mins went by and we called to check on our food, we were informed they were "backed up" and it wouldn't be ready for another hour. The parking is my beef with this place. Why does a customer have to pay $12 for each time we park at the garage? If you move in and out three times, that's $36 for parking. Yes, my company was paying, but this was just outright stupid and I wouldn't make my company pay for this again. Loves the property and staff. There is some aging visible throughout the hotel, but it is definitely a beautiful place to stay. My experience here was great. I used a free night I earned through my Hyatt credit card and I was upgraded for free and had dinner at Compass Grill, the revolving restaurant at the highest floor of the building. Usually I do not post review in Yelp, but this time, I would like to do. We stayed here two days for our trip to Sedona. And we want to say that staying here was terrible experience to us. We knew that many young people stayed on same floor and they were having a gathering in same room. Until midnight, they were so loud as so we couldn't get sleep because they were right next to our room. We have complained front desk many times but their action was too late. At the end we asked to see if we can change our room, and finally they sent a security... We will not be coming back this hotel again and will not recommend this place to anyone we know. read more

Stayed at this hotel for a conference. The parking was a nightmare as the garages surrounding the hotel were all full and I was constantly having to move my car to different spots each morning and each evening. The hotel was not helpful with this issue. The staff was not very friendly during check in or check out and was not able to provide a receipt for stay. Beds are comfortable. Pillows took a while to get used to. Water in the bathroom sink and shower is soft water; even when the soap was visibly off your hands it felt like there was more on your hands yet. Room service was good ... get the Biscuits and Gravy for breakfast! The Network Bar is good for drinks but don't get the food there (several of us were disappointed in the food ). read more
