I called to make him an appointment a few days later, and when we got there, the facility was beautiful and clean, and the waiting area has freshly baked cookies and water. The assistant showed him to the waiting room, and on the way showed us all of the certifications of the doctors, their modern machine that can do same-day crowns, and gave a free reusable water bottle filled with some gum, drink powder, and chapstick. I was very impressed and assumed that the experience would be great. However, my partner had a very bad experience. The appointment was for 1020am, and they did the x-ray, then he waited an hour, and then they did the exam and told him he had to come back to do the cleaning and the earliest opening was in two hours. How disrespectful of people's time to assume they can come in two visits. Why couldn't they do the cleaning during this hour where they had him waiting for nothing? They never told us when I made the appointment that it was broken up into two visits - in California for these new patient specials they always do it in one visit. So then he went back a few days later for the cleaning and it was HORRIBLE. Usually there is a dentist who cleans, and then an assistant who mans the suction, but this was one lady doing it all herself. She was not communicative (usually they tell you when they're doing the suction, when to close your mouth, etc, she said nothing) nor detailed (she jumped around from a left tooth to a right tooth when usually they go sequentially), and an overflow of saliva built up in his mouth. Then she POKED his lip with the sharp pick point and didn't even apologize!!! And she was scraping a tooth and missed and scraped his mouth!! Ugh!! How is this person allowed to even clean people's teeth? I'm very disappointed that we didn't get to experience the good dentists that other people refer to in their reviews. My partner was in shock after the appointment and said it was the worst teeth cleaning experience he's ever had. The fact that they have this incompetent tooth cleaner to where they hurt you is unforgiveable. Definitely will not be going back.

I had found Healthy Smiles on my dental insurance website as a covered provider last month and took the plunge. I called to make my appointment, was extremely pleasantly surprised that one Saturday per month was offered for patient convenience, and I provided my information. Today, as I pulled in to the business complex where Healthy Smiles is located, I could not help but notice how quiet, quaint, and clean it was. Walking into the office for my X-rays/Cleaning/Exam, I was greeted by Elaine. She was extremely polite, took my temperature and had me fill out a COVID-19 questionnaire. Whilst filling it out, she kindly told me how pretty my hair was! Wow, thank you for that kind compliment!! It put a huge smile on my face. I then sat down for just a couple minutes before being called back. Nicole was my dental hygienist and was sweet, a good conversationalist, and very knowledgeable! I had several questions throughout my cleaning and she was detailed in answering all of them. She was also gentle, while still doing an AWESOME job on my cleaning. My mouth felt great when she was finished with her final polishing! Additionally, Nicole was complimentary regarding my dental hygiene and tooth health and, being a millennial, I do love receiving 'gold stars'!!! Soon after she completed, I had the fortune to meet Dr Kuranko. A nice chair side manner, I could see his smiling eyes when we began talking! He was genuine, thorough, and took a detailed look at both my X-rays and my mouth. The verdict? NO CAVITIES! I valued my time spent at Healthy Smiles today, having been treated like a treasured patient. They took X-rays and said I had 8-12 cavities and needed to come back for a 2-part deep cleaning; I go to the dentist regularly, and have had several different dentists, and I've never needed a deep cleaning, nor have I had so many cavities all at once. I don't believe I've had 12 total cavities in my life. I was in shock and a bit distressed by this news, and I don't think the dentist's abrupt bedside manner helped much. They wouldn't do a normal cleaning the same day, though I was under the impression that was what I had scheduled, and said that I would have to return for multi-day deep cleanings to target different quadrants of the mouth. I scheduled a visit to my childhood dentist, and both the hygienist and dentist were shocked by the treatment plan I was given. They reviewed my x-rays and did a routine cleaning and exam, noting that I didn't have cavities, deep pockets, build-up, or decay that warranted deep cleanings or any fillings. I know every practice has its own procedures, but I would be sure to check past reviews that indicate similar experiences to mine. I hope that excessive, uncomfortable, and time-consuming procedures are not being recommended.
