I meant to post a review ages ago and can't believe I didn't! So this is years overdue. The short version: Jason is awesome -- extremely knowledgeable, thorough, professional, conscientious, and kind. The kind of person and business owner that I like to support and work with. I highly recommend his company. The long version: Our toddler son was waking up with what looked like a gazillion bug bites. We thought it might be bedbugs or mites of some kind, so started calling different pest inspection companies to investigate. We had several come out and take a look, and the first few really didn't seem like they knew what they were talking about or looking for, plus they tore my son's bedroom apart (moving furniture, removing bedding, etc.) without asking and without putting things back which was super irritating. One also suggested treating for pests even though they weren't sure there were any. When Jason came, he was the first person who actually knew what he was talking about, and could explain why he was looking for things the way he was, and why he thought the issue might be one thing or another. He also asked to remove bedding and move furniture, but then put things back as he found them. He has an innate understanding that he is in someone's home and they're having a stressful situation; he's also a parent and suggested that my son could be having an allergy to something. So on top of being good at his job, he also had good advice for this new parent! We ultimately didn't find any pests, and found out that our son was having an allergic reaction that we were able to get resolved. This was our third job for Hydrex. They sent Wade, an excellent carpenter, as well as pest control expert. Previously he replaced our wooden porch steps, and also repaired siding on two sides of our mobile home, including window frames. I was amazed at the quality of the work. This time Wade repaired the sub floor of our shower, repairing wood rot, and spraying for fungus and mold. The work was, as usual, 5 star. Now Bathfitters can come and install a shower, because they do not do sub floor repair. I am so lucky to have found Hydrex, and know I will get fantastic work, at a reasonable price. Jason did a great job of explaining through email and a phone call what the treatment would be like, and answering our "newbie homeowner" questions. The folks from Hydrex are really amazing. We've been dealing with rats in our attic since April. For the first abatement, they patched up potential areas where the rats were entering. Unfortunately the rats still found a way in....not due to anything Hydrex really missed, but more about the tenaciousness of the rats. They came out the house three more times, all under warranty and at no charge, to help us find the new entry points. If I would have called this guy first, I would have saved $2,500 on nonsense. I have a very long story but I'll spare you. Direct message me if you want more details, happy to help anyone in the struggle. Long story short, I thought I had bed bugs. I called another service (you can find them on my list of reviews) and they sprayed my house for $1,000 never finding a single bug. Then I had two different K9 inspections (also on my list of reviews) which turned out negative for bed bugs -- but I still had these red itchy welts all over my body. I did some research. It could have been bed bugs, rat mites, carpet beetles or something else. So after all of that I decided to call a REAL exterminator and find out what was going on. Jason came by, super nice guy. We talked for a while. I told him my crazy story and showed him some of the "bites" on my back. He said they didn't look like bed bug bites to him. I was dumbfounded. So he did a search of my bedroom. He found one tiny mite and showed it to me and took it for testing. Meanwhile in our talks he asked me about skin conditions, if I changed soaps, etc and told me to try going to the doctor's to see what they thought. He never charged me for the visit. God save him. I had paid so much money before calling them that I was relived not to bust out my checkbook again. So as soon as he left I went to urgent care to get looked at. Well, turns out I had an allergic reaction to some antibiotics I had taken a week before. No bugs! $2,500 and a week at the hotel was all unnecessary. I could have went to Hawaii. **cries** He called me later to tell me about the mite he found but reassured me again that I didn't have a pest problem. Everyone has a mite here and there. Writing a review for the aftermath... although I appreciated the service in 2015, for some reason I got an email notification that they were coming again in Jan 2018 even though the tenant on the email moved out 2.5 yrs ago and I sold my property soon after. Its seemed to be an annual bug spraying email notification, so thinking it was a mistake I emailed back letting them know I had cancelled service with them years ago and the new owners would not appreciate spraying without their permission... turns out they really were going to go and spray, so it seems like they were trying to take advantage of a spray renewal that I remember them trying to push for. This company is very responsive, helpful, and informative. My tenant's left bedbugs behind and did not tell me. By the time they left the place was terribly infested. Although the treatment seemed to do the trick, these bedbugs were fortified and all did not leave. I should have had a dog come in to be sure they were gone, but with the poison along the edges of each room, the dog owner would not allow his dog in. I waited the full week I believe it was without removing the poison and then the new tenants moved in about 3 weeks later. (Should have brought the dogs back after cleaning the poison as Hydrex will come back within 30 days? for a discounted rate.) Unfortunately a week after tenant moved in she was out of her mind when her family had bedbug bites! Yes, she could have moved them in herself but since it was just a week of occupancy, we ended up tenting the entire place as some bedbugs are becoming resistant to these poisons. If you've got bedbugs, I'd tent the place next time as I spent 1K for Hydrex and then over 2K to the tenting exterminators. Be careful though, as some of these tenting employees or some thieves that watch these tents go up and wait for the airing out process to break in as what happened to us. What an expensive nightmare bedbugs are! Yes, I would hire Hydrex as they were so responsive, informative and patient with my madness during this terribly stressful time. read more

I'm a mom of 3 girls. I had something that no one could "diagnose" that was biting my daughters in the house. After a grueling 3 weeks of trying to figure out what it was, not sleeping at night, just like those bed bug tv shows where everyone gets all paranoid and itchy... Contacted Hydrex. We finally figured it out, and it was rat mites. Thanks to Jason coming over and helping me see what it was under a microscope. But I was now paranoid about the chemicals that pest control people use; and Jason was great. I felt reassured that he knows what he is doing, and that he doesn't use anything that he wouldn't use around his own kids. The mites went away and I kept using his services bi-monthly for the black widows and other spiders around our house... I am very happy with Hydrex and I would recommend them to anyone. Found a bunch of termite droppings in the garage and literally caused some sleepless nights. Thankfully it looked like it was isolated to a couple of beams. Jason at Hydrex, like the MANY other pest control companies I got quotes for, recommended a full house tenting because the termites could be anywhere and tenting is the only way to be sure to get them all. But given our special circumstances and a long list of reasons to avoid full house tenting, Jason was really supportive of the local treatment option for us. He gave us competitive pricing on it as well! His tech came out on time, explained everything that he was going to do, performed a local treatment, reported what he found when he did the treatment, and what we can expect to see going forward. The tech was professional, courteous, efficient, and an all around great guy! He warned us that we will continue to see droppings but that they will diminish over time. He did such a great job that pretty much immediately, the dropping stopped. He got them!!! And the chemical they use is transmittable from one termite to another. So if they sprayed one termite, it will spread it to others that weren't in the treatment area. The idea is that it eventually spreads to the queen and the colony dies. So far, a number of months post treatment, that seems to be what's happened. I'm so thankful to Hydrex. Jason and Hydrex are the BEST!!! read more

This is a review of Hydrex and how they treated for bed bugs. I found their service to be very good, but I have no idea how they are for other forms of pest control. I waited almost a year to write this view partially because I'm a procrastinator but also because I wanted to confidently say that I no longer have bed bugs, and Hydrex was successfully part of the solution. I say that Hydrex was only part of the solution because I did a lot of work myself to try to best rid my life of bed bugs. This includes: - bagging all my personal belongings in giant ziploc bags - buying a Packtite and heat treating all the bagged items after treatment - dry cleaning or washing all linens/clothes on high heat - utilizing a beg bug-sniffing dog after treatment to double check As for Hydrex, the PCO was professional, honest, friendly, flexible with time, understood and explained the chemicals he was using (DE and Phantom) and their safety precautions. They offered treatments beyond the prescribed three in the case in which bed bugs might come back (which can be common) but fortunately did not. The PCO also treated my car for free, which is important because if a car is your main mode of transport, bed bugs were probably in there at some point as well. For anyone who is concerned about their mattress (I have a weird partial latex mattress with no springs so this was an issue for me), Hydrex does not steam clean mattresses or anything for that matter. Hydrex also had reasonable prices, which was $450 for one room (in a 3 bedroom house, which is probably more advisable to get the entire thing done) but knocked the price down to $350 since the room was thoroughly cleaned out. In addition they also did not charge for the initial inspection. The only criticisms that I'd have about Hydrex come down to the small details. For example, the PCO put on the mattress encasement but then threw away the zip-ties that are important for securing the zippers. Fortunately I found them and put them on myself. One thing that was useful was that they provided a list of tasks that should be done before treatment, but on the other hand, it did not say anything that should be done or what to expect afterwards. Fortunately consulting a friend who had eliminated bed bugs as well as frantic Internet research paid off so I felt OK about how to reintroduce all my items back into my room. I would definitely recommend Hydrex as a part of an integrated solution to eliminating bed bugs. If I had to do it again, I would definitely consider them but would do a pre and post-inspection with the bed bug sniffing dogs from CimexTek. read more

I do not think they have free estimates, I believe they charge $125 for the estimate and once you decide to use them half of that can be used towards your service cost. Also, they minimum service cost is $360. I have used Hydrex twice. Once about 4 years ago when I have some pigeons nesting at my house. They put up pikes there. After they finished, they mentioned "well, just letting you know that the pikes will get rid of the pigeons, but small birds might be able to get in this space." Guess what? The small birds really come and nest there a few years later. So I have to call them to come by again. The thing that I don't understand is why they did not just put a mesh there to avoid any birds to get in when they first came? Shouldn't they understand that no homeowner would like any birds to live at the roof? I was happy about the work after it was done. They were on time and Wade is very efficient on his work. However, I am not happy that it takes them twice to do it right and I had to pay them twice. I do believe that their price is reasonable though. The other companies might give you a free estimate but they charge more when they service you. Which is why I asked Hydrex to come fix the issue again. read more

They also lied to us and our tenants, completely unprofessional! Then, to top it off, they over billed us and even though we complained, the charges came through.
