I was talking with a new friend earlier this week about good Malaysian food and we both rave about T1 Bento. I hadn't been there in months as it's no longer as convenient for me. But today, I knew I would be in Brookhaven and heading to Duluth, so decided to stop by to get Chow Kwai Teow and Belacan Green Beans for takeout. I noticed Ling, who's one of the owners wasn't there, so I asked and apparently, she's at their new store in the Asian Square called "Baking(?) Bites". I've tried to look up this new place, but not having luck using that name. Guess I'll have to physically go to Asian Square to find them. But as for my order, I wasn't able to eat it until I got home,but once I did, it was as good as I remember from prior visits. The Chow Kwai Teow wasn't greasy which I have found to be the case at other places that offer it. The Belacan Green Beans were spicy and slightly overcooked. I like my green beans a bit more crunchy, especially when cooked Asian style. All in all, I love their food! read more

Desperately needing to go grocery shopping, my friends and I stopped in Hmart and were more than happy to grab lunch before hand. We shared their Pan fried noodle and Spicy Laksa Noodle Soup. There was no line so we were able to order right away and waiting about 10 minutes before it came out. The portions are considerably big so enough to share between 3 people comfortably. The crispy noodles were savory with lots of vegetables on top and even some shrimp and chicken (which wasn't specified in the name)! The laksa was also deliciously spicy and aromatic. What could have made it slightly better is if it had more coconut milk but otherwise great! Definitely ready for my next trip back and recommend others to give them a shot! read more

One of the most popular stalls at the Hmart food court, I went there on a cold day and ordered the Tom yum noodle soup. Within 5 minutes my food was ready, and the the dish did not disappoint. I 100% ordered the wrong thing. I wanted stir fried noodles so ordered a Hong Kong style spicy dish (I don't remember the name). First off the portion was tiny, there were huge chunks of raw spring onions which threw me off. It said it was spicy but there was no spice, just soy sauce flavor and very greasy. It was a weird mix of pad see ew and lo mein. For $15 it was very disappointing. T1 Bento is one of the food vendors in Super H Mart's food court in Doraville, and have a menu that touts their Hong Kong, Malaysian and Thai cuisine items. Parking is available in a large, free parking lot shared by all of the businesses located in Peachtree Pavilion shopping center; however, customers may not have a choice other than to park far away from the business they're going to, and walk. R and I first bought food from a neighboring food vendor. However, after we got done eating, I was still hungry. We were sitting at a table close to T1 Bento, and several of the menu items (they're displayed in large pictures that I could easily see from our table) caught my eye. I went to T1 Bento's stall and ordered the Beef Ho Fun at the counter. The employee quickly took my order and gave me a restaurant pager. I waited at our table no more than 10 minutes when the pager started flashing. I picked up my food on a tray, and everything on the tray was as I had ordered them: an extra plate, two sets of chopsticks, some napkins and the beef ho fun (of course). We shared the entree, and it was very good. Everything was cooked perfectly. The only thing that we could complain about was that more beef could have been added to the dish. I thought it was oily, but R told me that this dish (that he knows as beef chow fun) was not as oily as just about all of the beef chow fun that he's had. I highly recommend this dish! Doubling down on this place - came again and got the beef stew rice. The portion size wasn't as large but the pieces of beef were super tender and the dish was flavorful. So grateful that this place stays affordable while still offering quality food and an incredibly fast service time. I was craving some pad Thai, and this spot had Hong Kong, Malaysian, and Thai cuisine. I ended up getting the wonton mee from the Malaysian section as it was the most different. The wonton was pretty good. Even our Malaysian friend agreed that this dish was made authentically. This noodle dish was pretty simple with some noodles, thick cut veggies, and wontons. It's a dry noodle dish so there's no broth. The noodles seemed like they were stir fried in soy sauce. The 4 to 5 pieces of wontons were really good. For $8.99, there weren't a lot of meat though. Egg Ho fun: sooo good. This one had both shrimp and chicken pieces in it along with generous amounts of bok choy. The sauce is flavorful and rich, the noodles were nicely cooked. I love food courts cause you can choose what you want to eat and not worry about everyone else. It's casual and fast paced. I don't eat often at the HMart food court in Doraville but I keep hearing about T1 Bento. Plus had to do some grocery shopping too. My friend and I wanted to eat at T1 Bento. The variety of food choices is huge. They offer Chinese, Thai, Malaysian, Veggie options. There are more options in the back for House specials. My friend opted for the Cantonese noodles. We both were feeling noodles. I wanted the Veggie Ho Fun noodles. Food came out fast. My friend's food came out first. Portion sizes are huge!! It was piping hot too. Mine came out a few minutes later. The flavors are good. I just wish I asked for spicy. I got the sriracha sauce and then added some Lao dried peppers from my friend. I ate all of my food. This was our modest lunch at the H-Mart food court. We were going to return to that go-to Korean stall, but thought we'd switch it up today. These folks bill themselves as having Hong Kong roots, but you'd find Thai, Vietnamese, and Malaysian. What we ordered was supposed to be Hong-Kong style, but it didn't turn out quite as authentic as we had hoped. The Hokkien noodles was unremarkable, with hardly any special taste save the soy sauce's saltiness - 3 little shrimps and some chicken for a $11 dish. The ho-fun itself DID have some "wok hay" to it, but it was overly greasy; the sauce, we wish we could have traded some of the quantity for a bit better quality (too watery, not enough egg, and too few shrimps for a $13 dish). The fried rice had an authentic moniker ('Yeung Chow', which any respectable HKG resident would recognize) and was pretty good (heck, none of the dishes were 'bad' per se - I was just hoping for a notch better!), with a good portion size. I have half a mind to try their Thai fare another time, but I'm not sure how likely/quickly I'd get around to that when there are so many other portions just in this one food court. read more

I ordered the pad Thai with chicken from T1 bento and it was SO disappointing! I had heard great things about it but wow what a letdown. It lacked any flavor and the noodles tasted over cooked. My boyfriend had it before and when he tasted mine, he was shocked by the quality and flavor. Disclaimer! This is the only review I will let me emotions take over and push a 4 star to a 5 star. This place is dear to my heart in many ways. I eat hear a lot, like a lot, I mean like every week. The food is what I would call all around solid. In my opinion the best selections are the Malaysian selections. The Thai stuff is pretty good too, but Lets just be clear you might get better food somewhere else, but as far as food courts go, this is a 5 star. Ill admit I feel a little like a poor mans Anthony Bourdain when I sit and the slightly dirty table and eat a bowl of noodles here. And that is probably the best compliment I've ever paid to myself. One of the things I look forward to each time I go to H-Mart in Doraville is trying one of the food stall foods. They have a surprising amount of variety there. Pay for your groceries and bring your overstuffed cart to the food court. T1 Bento is going to look like every other vendor there. You'll need to step up and actually look at the menu items they have to offer. Basically they have a bunch of fusion dishes all pretty authentic. Their menu (pictured) is divided up by cuisine culture and includes Cantonese food, Thai and Malaysian (there are others but I forget what they are). For about $8 you'll get enough food in a serving to last you a couple of meals (naturally for me I ate it all). We decided to get the Chow Ho Fun (Cantonese fried noodles and we opted to get it with beef) and the Chow Kuey Teow (just a small hint of spice in this version of fried flat rice noodles). Both were flavorful, delicious and hit the spot. The food was out in about 5 minutes. You can eat there or take away and apparently they are also on Uber Eats if you live close enough. There are a lot of places that serve this type of cuisine but not with this type of convenience. If you're around and peckish, I encourage to give it a try! read more

As a few people have mentioned, this is also one of my go-to spots in the H Mart food court. T1 Bento & Grill is located in the food court of the Super H Mart in Doraville. This food court eatery serves a grab bag of Asian food: Chinese Cantonese, Malaysian, and Vietnamese (pho and banh mi). The menu is massive and looks more and more disorganized each time I pass by it, after checking out of the grocery store at H Mart. It looks disorganized because they keep adding onto and changing the menu. The good thing about the menu is almost every item is accompanied with a picture. The bad thing about the menu is the aforementioned disorganization and "cutting and pasting" of item descriptions and prices. It can be overwhelming for the first-time customer. With that said, the food here is affordable. Most entrees are less than $7.00. Good deal. I assume this is a Chinese (maybe Malaysian-Chinese) owned and operated business. In other words, Vietnamese food is most likely not their forte. Either way, I still ventured to try their pho. Here are two dishes I've tried from this place: Basil chicken ($6.99) Beef combination pho ($5.99) The portion size for the basil chicken was very generous. There was a lot of steamed, almost-too-wet white rice, topped with plenty of vegetables, a bit of chicken, and tons of sauce. Vegetables included, but were not limited to, green beans, onions, basil, green bell pepper, carrots, and zucchini. The chunks of chicken were tender, "fresh," and flavorful enough. At best, this entree was satisfactory. More chicken, less sauce, and less watery rice would've been nice. I wasn't expecting, nor should you, a Buford Highway or Gwinnett County pho dac biet (special combination pho) out of T1 Bento's beef combination pho. However, I was still curious to try their pho since "Pho & Noodles" is displayed so prominently on their storefront. T1's beef combination pho amounts to a medium-sized bowl of pho that includes beef meatballs and thin slices of ribeye accompanied with onion, cilantro, 2-3 slices of jalapeno, and a wedge of lime. The broth was murky and sweet. I thought it was weird I had to eat this bowl of pho with cheap disposable wooden chopsticks and a flimsy plastic spoon. I also thought it was weird that this bowl was not accompanied with the usual pho sides (e.g. basil, culantro, bean sprouts, etc.). Rather, everything you need is already in the bowl. No Hoisin sauce either, but they do have Sriracha behind the counter which you may request. With the pho, pretty much what I saw was what I got. My advice: go to one of the standalone pho restaurants on Buford Highway if you want a real bowl of pho. As far as service for this place, there isn't much to speak of, since you order and pick up your food at the counter. I will say that I'm surprised at how fast the food comes out from the kitchen from this little shop. Free water is available from the communal dispensers. You can request (tiny) Styrofoam cups from any of the food court businesses. Overall, I wouldn't consider T1 Bento & Grill fantastic, but it works if you're in a pinch or too lazy to go anywhere else. It's neither significantly better nor worse than its neighbors in the same food court. read more

I do not eat pho often so I am not a pho connoisseur, but even I could tell that my brisket pho was ok... the briskets were so dry and over cooked... they felt like over boiled pieces of thick beef. There was no flavor to the meat. However, the soup was pretty delicious, and there were plenty of noodles. read more

T1 Bento serves fast, delicious, very affordable food in the food court of Super H-Mart in Doraville. EVERYTHING I have tried has been awesome. I just finished a takeaway of Thai basil chicken, $11.99 and ready in five minutes. Lots of fresh brightly colored veggies and ample white meat chicken, comes with rice. I've also had Thai chicken curry and noodle dishes (mee goreng, kway teow, beef ho fun). It appears I just can't go wrong ordering from the extensive menu. SO GOOD. I've gotta try their tofu dishes sometime. Sit and eat in the very comfortable food court or take home. Btw, the food court also has several Korean food stalls and a Korean style Chinese stall. Nestled inside the Doraville H-Mart T1 Bento is a place I could definitely see myself coming back to. The prices are good for what you get and there are plenty of options although I wouldn't necessarily call this spot a Bento place since they serve soups and large portions. I had just gotten Top Tea and was hungry so my friend and I stopped over at H-Mart- I ordered pork buns, shrimp dumplings, and spring rolls- although what came out what egg rolls and not shrimp rolls. The buns were good- I think the bun was slightly undercooked but still fluffy. I loved the shrimp dumplings. I for sure want to go back and get the potstickers and from what I've read I should try the fried rice. read more

Although they claim Hong Kong food, they also offer Thai and Malaysian dishes. I've never had anything bad here. Food comes out so quickly even on busy days. You can tell they run a smooth and efficient operation. I had the chicken with green beans today, came with rice and an eggroll all for $6.99. After buying a bottle water, it came up to about $9. This stall offers cuisine from various countries on the continent. The food came out pretty promptly, and the portions were more than reasonable. I had the roast duck noodle soup ($8.95) and shared an order of the BBQ pork buns (3 for $5.99, you can also choose duck instead). The soup contained plenty of duck, greens, yellow noodles, and broth. The pork buns weren't bad either. Nothing particularly knocked my socks off, but it was satisfactory meal overall. Cheap, tasty, Cantonese entrees in the Doraville H-Mart food court. If I checked in every time I came to T1 Bento, I'd probably be the duke here. There have been so many times when I've finished my shopping at H-Mart and realized, "this can wait, I'm going to T1 Bento instead." The menu includes bento trays, noodle dishes, and soups. Most dishes are in the $7-10 range. Highlights: I've tried several of T1 Bento's noodle dishes and about half of their Bento trays - my favorite dish out of all of them is the Basil Ho Fun (stir fried chicken with flat rice noodles). If you're a fan of beef ho fun (which is also on the menu), you'll like the Basil Ho Fun. The dish is a marriage of basil chicken and stir fried ho fun. The basil gives a distinct flavor to the dish - it's delicious and what I order about half the time. All of the bento trays are served with a side of rice, a vegetable spring roll, Chinese vegetables, and a serving of pineapple. There are fried items in the bento trays, but overall the dishes are not super oily. This may make the trays a little blander than you are accustomed to, but I am personally a huge fan of them. My favorite bento tray on the menu is the salt and pepper calamari tray. Critiques: You won't find any Chinese banquet dishes here, but you will be very satisfied if you're just looking for cheap, delicious, stir fry dishes. Overall: If I choose to eat at the Doraville H-Mart, I'm at T1 Bento. The excellent basil ho fun and the relatively healthy bento trays are why I'm a regular customer here. read more

If a genie in a bottle gave me three wishes, one might be be for world peace, but one would DEFINITELY have to be that T1 Bento would open it's doors as a full service restaurant! Located in the Doraville HMart, this food court restaurant serves Hong Kong Chinese cuisine, but also Thai, and Vietnamese. In typical food court fashion there are pictures all around, a few handwritten signs, and enough choices to keep you looking, and telling the person behind you to go ahead in front of you and order. The owner is always at the counter and quick to give a recommendation. Food is out fast and hot. I have never been let down eating here. Good place to spend your lunch money! I would love to see this business expanded. Besides, peace is overrated. read more
