The title alone would not normally have me walk in here, despite staying in the very hotel it's in, but day one my son wanted ice cream so there we went. This place has soooo much to offer that every morning of our stay it was our go to breakfast spot. Great coffee, passable bagels (like a Thomas's English muffin bagel but good enough for a kid) and shockingly not advertised they have protein available to add to their smoothies. This little 3 table walk in hotel bakery was great. Highly recommend it

To stay here is fun for a family stay, don't miss weekend Bingo! Anyone can dine here, though!

A Lifesaver within the Caribe Hilton! Affordably priced Breakfast/Lunch. Menu set on wall is difficult to read but staff is helpful and the place is clean and pleasant! Their BAKED GOODS are EXCELLENT and unique! Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookies sold here too! Lots of beverages for sale too, like Perrier !

My kid and a delicious smoothie (we already consumed everything else)

My family stayed at El Caribe and the food options are underwhelming and inefficient to put it mildly. The wait times were absurd so we came here for a snack when we were hangry and desperate. The pastries were EXCELLENT. We got a guava queso pastry, which was delectable. The Nutella cookie was also phenomenal--flaky, warm, gooey. We also ordered açaí bowls and waffles, which were enormous and the fruit was delicious and fresh. The smoothies were also outstanding. Interestingly, the ice cream was just good-not-great, and the flavors are pretty limited, but we pretty much tried everything else on the menu and it was delicious. The service was also very good--they were patient and very kind with children (both were a theme in PR--everyone was super nice to my kid). I saw a review that mentioned slow service. We didn't experience that, but "island time" is a real concept and people generally move more slowly here. But again, our orders were consistently quick and we came here three or four times. Buen provecho!

Review Highlights - Ice Cream & Cookie

We went there a few times during our trip as it's one of the only viable options at caribe Hilton.

I need to re-emphasize that I had such low expectations, especially for the taro ice cream, but it was excellent. It had that taro flavor that you wouldn't think a random ice cream shop in condado would get right, but. they. did. I loved that they let you add boba as a topping to the ice cream. I personally didn't try their boba drinks but having the boba with my ice cream definitely scratched the boba itch I had during the trip. My gripes with this place aren't really with the ice cream itself (though I am salty about the fact that 'pocky topping' is just two sticks of pocky jammed into the cup), it's mostly about the experience. Rolled ice cream is cool and all, but what we pay for isn't really the ice cream: it's the experience. Watching them pour the liquid ice cream onto the cold surface, chop it, spread it, and roll it is what we're paying for. And Below Zero has blocked off the area where you'd usually watch them work. I think maybe it's because of COVID that they blocked off half of the store, but it just feels disappointing. Was definitely pricey, but having good taro ice cream was worth it.

Due to COVID restrictions only 1 party was allowed to enter at a time. The menu was conveniently posted outside so making a decision was easy before entering. Once inside there is a place to take temperature and sanitize hands ( this is very common around the island). After placing our order we were handed a beeper and waited outside. The weight was long, I'd estimate 10-15 mins. The ice cream was really good and I would highly recommend, just be prepared to wait.

We just couldn't pass it up. So, let's talk about the history. It all started out as "Anita La Mamma del Gelato" in Tel Aviv back in 2002. "La Mamma del Gelato" that you see on the walls inside this shop represent the mother (Anita Avital) & son (Nir) duo who started it all. It's grown to many more locations to include NYC and Miami. There's even a sub-brand of Anita Gelato called "Golda Gilda" that is very popular in Israel. I have to be honest when stating that I've never heard of either gelato brands until seeing this shop near our hotel. We each decided to get the smallest cup size that includes 2 flavors. I selected Pavlova Mixed Berries and Chocolate Pistachio & Kadayif. There was a white chocolate version of it as well, but I decided to stick with the traditional milk chocolate. I don't remember what flavors my husband picked out. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed them as much as I enjoyed mine. I especially loved the chocolate pistachio one. That layer of pistachio cream & crispy kadayif was delightful. I didn't taste any pavlova in the mixed berry gelato, but it was still wonderful. They're very good about giving out samples for those who are unsure and want to get the perfect flavor. I wish we had returned to try more. It was a delicious & relaxing experience. The service was great. There's plenty of seating inside and outside. We fortunately arrived in the late afternoon when it wasn't too busy. Definitely do not pass this one up when in Condado.
