When I first heard the name "Ice Haus" I pictured a bar inside a freezer...yep, that's what the name conjures up for me. However, once I visited, I realized that was not the case. It's more of a traditional dive bar with loud music, 100+ different kinds of beer and a local clientele. The night that I visited they were doing trivia, which was lively and well attended. I saw a stage for karaoke and posters for different upcoming events. They seem to do a good job activating this space and encouraging people to gather for fun activities. How did I not know about this hidden gem? The karaoke was probably one of the best bar karaoke experiences I've had. There's a whole stage, great sound, and a friendly MC who kept the vibes rolling. We basically had the whole karaoke part of the bar to ourselves since it was a Sunday evening, and that made it even more enjoyable. I ordered a plate of wings and was SHOOK that they had wet lemon mustard sauce! Do you know how rare of a relic wet lemon sauce is? The wings were awesome. We went to Ice Haüs on Saturday morning at 10 for their brunch, and we were the only ones there for a few minutes. We were seated outside under the beautiful covered patio, and we started things off with some of their yummy $2-3 little mimosas -- you can order two at a time if you'd prefer. I ordered the Traditional American breakfast, with both meats. Normally it's two eggs, hickory-smoked bacon OR breakfast sausage patties, with breakfast potatoes, and buttered sourdough toast, for $10. My husband ordered the Baby Arm Burrito. It comes with hickory-smoked bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes, peppers, onions, jalapeños, and cheddar-jack cheese in a flour tortilla, for $13. The burrito came with a really delicious fresh salsa that I commandeered and used for my breakfast potatoes. Everything was really tasty & the portions were worth the $$. The patio's ambiance was really lovely, but all the grime I could see was next level. That aspect made me feel uncomfortable. Sooo, I'd recommend they scrub the mesh furniture and hose the place down before they host these daytime brunches. Holy smokes. The floor and tables were genuinely gross n' grimy. My favorite appetizers are the fried cheese curds and the big pretzels. They have new super tasty big pretzel that's amazing. I can't believe I forgot to shout out the culinary crew on my review! They were putting out phenomenal food on my visit here. The only con I witnessed was during the shift change. Night shift server's took over and it was considerably more crowded. The food was prepared and ready to go out. Some of the servers would be too busy talking with one another while that hot fresh food was dying in the window getting cold. One of my biggest pet peeves is witnessing this in real time lol. I really like this place! If you know me, I am a fan of mixed shots. Little liquid and good flavor = MMMPH! I went on a night they did karaoke, so the background noise made me feel like I was in the audience of American Idol. It was great to see everyone cheering others on, even if the singer was pumped full of alcohol beforehand. The food was great. Well, besides the appetizer of those German weenie doggies (I can't recall the name at the moment) wrapped in bacon - they were way WAY way WAY too overpriced. I think they were over $1 per piece if I calculated correctly. They were about the size of my big toe, I measured. Much salty but the mustard toned it down. The steak frites was an A+++. SO GOOD FOR BAR FOOD. The onions and shrooms were added on with an extra cost - also salty but it works well with the steak. This place surprised me- I had no idea it existed, it's tucked away in Murray. We went to go watch a friend play on a Friday night and they have a nice little interior stage area where you can grab food and drinks and watch a show. They also have the traditional bar space inside and a nice outdoor patio bar space as well. The service was fast and good and overall we had a great Friday night and felt like we were in college again but at an establishment that is much more fitting for us middle agers lol. The most surprising was that the food was actually pretty good which I normally have low expectations for bars pertaining to food but I genuinely enjoyed my burger and fries/tots/apps at the table. Everything they everyone got in our group of 20+ friends were all enjoyed and everyone seemed to really like the food, even those from out of state which was telling about the food quality. We were so excited that this place had vegan desserts. We got the apple streusel and the chocolate cake. A bit of a disappointment the streusel tasted like it was deep fried in old oil. Plus no vegan ice cream to enjoy on top. Figure if you are going to have vegan options give the whole experience with the ice cream, or even vegan whip cream. The atmosphere is perfect for those of us who want to walk into our neighborhood pub and let our hair down with bikers, regular peeps, and the occasional road weary traveler. The atmosphere is very nice, the servers were very friendly and kind to our dog. Went here for the first time with friends to see a couple of bands play. The atmosphere was subdued and cozy, and there were plenty of nooks and places to eat/drink. We watched the concerts from upstairs and had a fantastic view. Sound quality was good (thanks, Rojas!) and stage decor nice. We didn't receive any service for food for the first 45 minutes until we flagged a gal down (it was a packed Saturday night so understandable--things happen). After that, it was prompt and accurate for the rest of the night. The food was very flavorful except for the garlic burger, which was 1/2 pound but meh for taste. The quality of my photo is atrocious (bar lighting and whatnot), but the quesadilla was one of the best I've ever had. It was just a cheese quesadilla (any additional fillings would cost a few dollars extra) but it was amazing. The sauce cups each had something different, which was fun. The bar had live music, but it was so loud when the bands were playing that I could barely hear what anyone was saying. We waited to speak until the bands were not playing. The bag was sealed from the restaurant so it's not like the driver ate it. I called the restaurant immediately to let them know and they could care less. My family came here the other day to discover most of the German menu had been stripped away to appeal to standard bar goers. As one of the only German restaurants in town this was a massive disappointment. I would never have gone to an ethnic restaurant and got burgers. I wouldn't even expect them on the menu for anything other than maybe appealing to picky children (meant literally. Such as on a kids menu not a dig on the customers here.) But the only actual German options are now Bratwursts and pretzels. I miss the schnitzel and Spatzel they used to have already. But I can't really see myself going back if its just yet another Bar with typical bar food and plus Bratwursts and pretzels. My disappointment aside the food is good here. We went there a lot right after it opened. It was close to home and decent food. Atypical from normal all fried bar food. Good variety and good apps. Service can be hit or miss, but all in all not too bad. Generally on the good side. But we will never attend again. Mostly because of bouncers. They built a brand new patio a few years ago and allow dogs. My wife and I would bring our dog have a few beers and some food and enjoy ourselves. But they always have that one guy, you know that guy that no one likes. The guy who got teased to much in high school so now he has to throw his weight around behind some fake position of power. That guy seems to be their favorite guy to hire as a bouncer. We'd bring our dog over and this guy would bust our balls about dogs not being allowed. Even though everyone knew they were allowed. Anyway, after being hassled about our dog a couple of different times, I just told my wife we are never going there again. We are a gen x couple. Spend plenty of money and out of there buy 10 pm. If you're looking for a great brunch spot, look no further! Ice Haus has a full vegan brunch menu and "omnivore" brunch menu. The vegan brunch menu is almost identical to their regular menu, offering vegan-style breakfast and brunch classics with French toast, vegan BLT, burritos - they have so many options. The real reason I keep coming back is for their Saturday and Sunday brunch mimosa deals! Ice Haus and their sister bar Piper Down have the best mimosa deals I've seen in SLC. $1.50 mimosas every Saturday and Sunday until 2pm, or you can get a bottle of champagne and make your own mimosas. Their patio is the best spot during the summer - it's huge and can fit several large groups. The inside has plenty of space for large groups as well - I've been multiple times with groups over 10 people and the staff has always been so accommodating of our groups. If brunch isn't your thing, they have a full regular menu as well with pub classics - burgers, sandwiches, wings, you name it. And again, they have a large selection of vegan options too. On a recent trip to the Salt Lake Area my partner and I were staying in Murray with a friend. We were super excited to find this German-style pub only a short drive away. Best of all, they had excellent vegan options! We were lucky it was a Friday because Ice Haus has a special Friday night vegan option that's not normally on the menu. This Friday, it happened to be a schnitzel! It is incredibly hard to find this kind of vegan fare and this sandwich was really incredible. However, their standard vegan menu is also huge with plenty of choices to keep you satisfied. Our friend got the pretzel with a vegan beer cheese and it was literally the size of her head. We also shared some of the tiger wings with the mustard sauce (very good, though very filling FYI). Finally, my partner and I split some smaller bites such as the house salad, sweet potato tots, and a vegan corn dog! If it sounds like a feast fit for a king, well yes, it was. On top of the generous portions and stellar vegan food, they had a huge beer menu to choose from. I got a couple of local double IPAs that paired well with the decadent food. Highly recommend Ice Haus, even if you're staying in SLC proper. It's not a far drive and it's well worth the extra minutes for such a great experience. read more

I was in town for 8 nights on a snowboarding trip. I ate here for 4 of those nights. This place is the most unassuming but let me tell you- it was the highlight of my trip!! I am vegan and usually have low expectations of what food options will be available for me, especially at a bar. The vegan menu at this establishment is one of the best I've ever seen and tasted in 11 years of abstaining from animal products. There aren't enough words to describe how delicious this food is!! There are choices for appetizers, light food, and entrees. Much of it resembles traditional bar food but meat is replaced with seitan and they even have vegan beer cheese!! We ate vegan tacos on special on Tuesday, and also enjoyed wings, wrap, chicken salad, brat, and quesadilla throughout the week. Truly impressed by this place! Not to be outdone by the stellar food, the service and ambiance is also top notch. The staff began to recognize me and even suggested their "sister" bar that also offers a vegan menu. The bar has fun activities each night such as poker, trivia, and karaoke. The drink menu is fantastic and they have vegan Bailey's Almonde. The owners have really created a special place for vegans to be welcome and share fun times with friends while not starving or gorging on French fries and iceberg lettuce. The chef and staff bring it all together. I can't wait to come back on my next trip and bring even more friends!!! This has always been one of my fav bars to take people too!!!l INCREDIBLE beer selection and the food is decent. They have bands, poker, bingo, etc. The outdoor patio is super nice!!!! My biggest complaint is the parking and service. On busy nights it's really hard to find a spot! I don't mind walking so I usually park down the road. The last 2 times I've came for dinner they have had only 1-2 waitresses and the wait for drinks/food is terrible.. this last time we were about to leave when she finally came by. Not her fault, she apologized a bunch. I guess it's prob hard to find reliable help. The beer list is also always changing... they use to have the barcode on the tables so you could browse while you waited but not anymore, and the list on their website is outdated. However, the young dj Thursday night was easily distracted and way too accommodating to the drunk/loud table at the front by the stage and missed a singer and their song. Service industry folk have to pay attention to the little details like this or they won't last long. And I've not encountered that sort of thing from ice Haus or their sister bar. read more

I have been here a few times and each time the place is completely packed it seems and busy! This is great for their business. It's hard to find room at the bar sometimes to order. They have outdoor seating and plenty spacious seating on the inside as well as a lot of times they often have music. The drinks and the prices are normal, nothing outrageous. We visited the Ice Haus on the recommendation of a friend. We were stoked to find a bar that had a decent vegan menu, and were impressed right away by the friendliness of the staff and of the nice vibe. Service was quick and very attentive, and the ambiance was fun. The food was... pretty good, but not great. I guess my biggest complaint was that both the dishes my wife and I ordered were just way too greasy, and though our sandwiches were entirely different, they both tasted exactly alike.
