Today was our daughter Mahina's birthday. Her wish was to go to ice palace. They made her first experience better than we could have asked!!! I think her name was Corinne, she was extremely pleasant and made my daughter feel sooo special!! The Ice Palace used to have some great deals. There were deals in the entertainment book at least a while ago they still had them. And there are specials every now and then- check social media but they do post stuff on the door usally if you are in the neighborhood. Going to a UH game though and parking in the parking lot in no longer a good idea because I saw cars getting towed doing that last season. I know in Hawaii how often do you want to be sitting in the cold (well, me always! I'm Norwegian) but most Pacific Islanders will have their fill at about 10 minutes. I used to go to ice rinks in Chicago, and even Berlin. It was a thing to do- and in winter lakes and ponds did freeze over and water sports were out and ice sports were in. Birthday! Good and bad for birthday parites though here. 1 crowd control is very hard. If the kids slip and fall it is hard for the parent in charge to get to the hurt child. Especially if the parent dropped off the kid to the party and then isn't there. (I remember the NCL ship first mate say that the #1 medical emergency on the ship at sea is drunk men thinking they can dunk baskets on a moving cruise liner and break their ankle.) 2 they kicked us out at a certain amount of time- it was just enough time to set down at the table, eat pizza, eat cake and then get skates and then they closed up the upstairs area and cleaned up the tables- instead of letting us sit there the whole time the kids wanted to skate. All the parents had to move to the bleachers and sit. 3 good news- a slower lane for kids with hand rail carts that go on the ice. In Finland, Norway and Sweden all the parents had similar carts in the country since walkways are always iced over in the winter. Wonderful idea. All in all - cool, cold fun. Bring a change of clothes if you want to be warm and think winter thoughts. Christie Yamaguchi would be proud of your attempts too of enjoying skating. read more

Had my bridal shower/ engagement party here recently. I won't go too much into detail but so before I had officially decided to do it here I talked to a lady on the phone to ask questions and said I'd call back I called back to ask more questions and dates and such and finally I called back to book and lady was pleasant And anyway one of the ladies I talk to was RUDE. I ended up calling to talk to a manager and was asked which one and picked one from the following and the person already on the phone was a manager. -_- instead of just saying oh yes hi I'm so and so the one of the managers here anyway could've been a wee bit more professional but still she was nice.. So we had a few people the day of who were either a bit rude or could've done a better job. One they were nice to let us bring our stuff up and wait on the side a bit before we started. Another one of our guest arrived a tiny bit early and was going to leave her stuff up stairs with my parents who were waiting uo stairs and the man up stairs rudely told us you can't come up here very rudely said things. Another thing it wasn't my birthday but I understand you probably only have a birthday announcement and can only put a birthday thing on the billboard but if you have an announcer he could have nicely said bridal shower or engagement party.. and MY NAME WASN'T EVEN SPELLED CORRECTLY ON MY TABLE OR THE BOARD. No biggie I guess .. someone else who had a very hard to spell long name seemed like they had they're name spelled correctly.. Another THING a worker working in the store .. it all happened so fast but opened a little side window or opened the door stuck his head out and yelled at her LOUDLY RUDELY and continue to yell at her to shut the door and then some but he didn't notice us walking up to her with our hands full and her hands full :/ instead up KINDLY WALKING UP TO HER AND ASKING TO HELP HER AND KINDLY letting her know she can't have the door open long.. BUT NO HE'S TOO BIG SHOT TO DO THAT WHILE WANTING to go talk with his Co workers in a nearly empty store with more Co workers then customers right yet when a little girl who doesn't have an adult accompaning her who after we walked out another time in the night held the door open and stood in the walk way NOOO no one scolded her. And the person and I who was walking out was tripping no one was walking behind her or with her and we kindly said you need to wait for your mom hon.. and stood there for like less then a min or so and finally her mom called to her from outside near the umbrellas like.. wtf.. and since your prices went up I got the 10.75 price because I booked before it went up but I wanted to skate after the party took my stuff to the car came back the lady that took my payment in the beginning when we got there asked how the party went I said good didn't wanna get into detail :/ Gave me the 11 something price.. like really. I'm pretty sure that's one of the ladies I talked to on the phone "the manager" -_- who at one point on the phone seemed really rude when I told her I had talked to one lady one the phone who said it wouldn't be too busy that no one but me had booked but that was a month before someone told me something along those lines and before I could say I'm pretty sure it wasn't you the manager cut me off With something like I believe you booked with me and I wouldn't say that!! Almost as if to say or make me feel like I'm the liar. -_- man all in all I booked here to make my fiance happy and if I had a do over I wouldn't do it here in a heart beat but it was ok. But ice palace needs to step up they're game, workers, attitudes , communication skills and then some! Lucky them if there was another ice palace for competition I'm sure they would take they're job more serious and probably be better. (: Anyway it was ok. It doesn't hurt, but if you stay on the ice for longer than 1 minute it kind of burns. It is fun. They have Sprite and they have other bubbly drinks. You can have your birthday party there. We always have my daughters birthday party here. It is a great place for the kids to skate and the parents to chill. There is no time limit so you can skate all day for one low price. They have a little game room and a snack bar that has your usual items on it such as saimin, nachos, hot chocolate, churros, sodas, popcorn, etc. They also play a few games that all skaters are welcome to participate in such as limbo and four corners. They even turn out the lights for a little and put on some disco lights. The kids really enjoy it. It's been so hot this summer(summer of 2015) that I was elated to sit in there and watch the kids skate for 5 hours!! Great way to beat the heat!! read more

Had a blast at the Ice Palace! And the prices were great. Under 10 dollars per person and it included skates and access to the rink all day. The rink itself is pretty big and they also offers a small arcade area and a snack bar. The snack bar was cheap as well, but offered only a few different items. A messy chili dog was all I needed. They also offers small lockers and have bleachers for any non skaters or anyone who would like to sit and watch. Bring a jacket or sweater! And long socks. read more

because ice palace is the only place to ice skate in hawaii, it gets four stars. i went here today and it was exactly the same as i remember it as a kid. except pricier. $17 for 2. it's okay, it was worth it. i still think that is cheap, considering that movies nowadays are just as expensive and you are basically in and out of there. it's not an experience like the one ice palace gives you. the place is still dirty. dirty bathrooms, dirty floors, dirty tables... it just makes you feel dirty. they need a renovation. imagine how pretty it could look and how much more money they could make if they just dazzled it a bit! but because you can't go wrong with ice skating and it is such a fun date to go on with your bf/gf, i definitely recommend coming here and reliving your youth. and it's also a good place to get out of the heat! i am definitely coming back here to work on my ice skating skills! tip: ask for the hockey skates. they are a lot more fun to skate with! read more

Such nostalgia, I haven't been here since middle school days which was like 10+years ago. It's pretty crazy because the parking lot here looks exactly the same since 10 years like time had stopped here. Anyways came here for a birthday party for the kiddies whom had such a blast even though they kept falling down during the ice. I really appreciated the guys on the ice because even though they are not friendly most times they do help those that had fallen down to get back up. We ordered the loads of food, pizza which they get from Costco or Sam's I can't remember, churros, hot dogs, and popcorn. It wasn't the greatest food but after skating and falling on your butt a few times the food tasted a bit better. They still have the arcade near the food stand which I swear are the same games, only changes is the other arcade near the entrance got broken down and made into jamba juice. This place could use a few renovations especially the old rusted lockers but other than that still a fun place to hang out with the family. read more

Very poor ice conditions all days of the week. They Zamboni it then immediately allow skaters back on the ice. They are supposed to wait 30 mins or the Zamboni was pointless. And they need to fix the Ceiling cuz it has mold like no other and corrosion and it's a health hazard and safety issue that I cannot believe they haven't been shut down for among other issues like the restrooms and nasty rental skates and overall cleanliness of the entire place. This place needs a renovation ASAP!! Deserves 1 star but it's the only rink on island. read more

Ah, can we say ghetto? All these birthday parties going at once upstairs, a complete mob scene of kids, and all the while this loudspeaker going off at full blast, and being that the place is a cavernous skating rink, you can't hear what the devil the announcer is saying...duh! The arcade games are old, and the area around the games looks like a dump. Not having grown up in a place where you can skate on a lake, I wouldn't know this personally, but a lady from the East Coast told me the skates were so dull, they would not pass muster where she was from. When is the ice palace going to ever reopen in life or or even open their front doors for business. Because it says that the ice palace will reopen in JAN or FEB 2022, but it does not look like it will reopen in JAN but wondering if it will reopen in FEB. But it mainly depends on the COVID 19 which has been going on for quite a while in life, but the ice rink should get together and begin the process of reopening the ice rink and getting it together step by step. Not just typing up the letters that say we are not open yet but we are excited to see you all when we have a safe ice rink for you all thank you for your patience. How many more years is it going to take for the ice rink to ever reopen in life, I miss going into the cold ice rink tying my skates nice a tight getting on to the ice surface. Then once on the ice surface begins the gliding and shedding the ice with every stroke taken from the skates blades on the cold slippery ice. And also making those tight turns until I am able to touch the floor of the freezing ice in the ice rink in full gallop speed. read more

So I thought ice skating was so OUT but I had a little bday party to go to and I was suprised to see its still packed with kids and so I guess its still cool! I wasnt expecting the entry fees to be so high! The wait for a plain cheese pizza was outrageous and then time the little ones have to skate before being kicked off to play a game is really junk...I would suggest maybe letting the kids section stay opened and play the games with the rest of the rink...they dont really take up all that much of it anyway. I would also suggest for the employees to also watch whats going on in the "railed" section to ensure safety. Most of them seemed to be staring out to space while little kids who know how to skate zip through the roped section or being wreckless with the rails. I had a great time skating and realizing...I STILL GOT IT!! haha overall it was a fun-filled nite. read more

The ice skating was good fun, BUT management really needs to get the place fixed up. To say this place is dirty is an understatement.

1 star for party rental. Its a ridiculous price for 2 hours. We came half an hour early to ask if we could set up for the party, and they told us no. Really? No one was up there! It kind of put everyone in a bad mood, and we all learned not to use this as a party location, especially that you dont get the skates as part of the party, you still have to pay for that separately. The ice is pretty bad condition, but its in hawaii afterall. Its cool to come here to skate, and skate only, but do not rent here for a party. Not worth it at all. read more

Nothing's changed about this place. It's Ice Palace. I hosted a birthday party here in April. I spent like $500 on 6 reserved tables and 25 skaters. The party area is pretty minimal. It's kind of a wreck as far as decor goes. I have to say that they don't really work with you to allow you more than two hours for the dinning space and set up. The service was MEH. I got a pair of skates that had missing pieces that rendered the shoe garbage. I had some unresolved charges and miscommunication with them and I'm just done with getting retribution at this point. My kids and guests had a wonderful time at the end of the night though. But after that experience I wouldn't have another party here. read more

Choke good memories here as a youth growing up in Aiea/Halawa. I used to go here all the time with friends when I was little. I wish I could go back to those awesome times skating on ice, eating ice, playing the hecka old and ghetto arcades, eating pizza and the mediocre food that they got there, looking at the ice palace mini store with ice skating related goods, putting and storing your stuff in the small locker, using the sketchy restrooms, sitting on the bleachers, playing the 4 corners games on the ice, skating in the "kiddie" section, leaning how to skate with the walker/slider things, doing that one skate move where you slide and shave off ice all over your friend I forgot what that move was called, getting sore hands after touching the ice without gloves, skating fast, skating slow, playing tag on ice, and many more ice palace stuff. Although the pricing as gone up since back in the day, it is still good fun to go to. It is pretty much the only ice skating rink on the island. It's conveniently located around the stadium mall side where all those shops and stores are located like Taco Bell/Pizza Hut, the gas stations, etc. You can hold birthday parties here and it's cool because sometimes they have a DJ who plays some pretty good music and he announces that it's your birthday and stuff. Well if you want to ice skate in Hawaii your choices are limited...it's ice palace or ice palace? They kind of have the monopoly on the ice rink thing in the islands. That is probably why they are in no rush to renovate. They really don't have to. We recently went for a holiday recital and it was nice. The temperature wasn't super uncomfortable and that over priced cup of cocoa made it even better. The plastic cheese nachos really added to the experience too! Who doesn't love a fluorescent pile of gooey cheese on stale nacho chips? The rink itself is well kept and the skates will do. All in all this place is OK. If you want to ice skate in Hawaii you really aren't left with many options and this one will suffice...it has to. read more

The Ice Palace is a good place to have some wholesome fun with the family, and for cub scouts to earn their ice skating belt loop. In fact, it's the only place for thousands of miles to ice skate at all. Sure, it may not be a brand new rink, but it's in good shape, they keep an area sectioned off for beginner skaters (a big plus in my book), and the obligatory snack bar, pro-shop, and arcade. The ice is resurfaced every few hours. Our kids have had a great time each time they've been there, so that is my measure of success. the only ice skating rink on island. this place has been taking a beating over the years. been a while since i came here last when i was a kid. took my wife there because she never went iceskating before. it hasn't changed a bit other than the price and the aging of the place. pros: -convenient location in the middle of the island with a decent amount of parking -for $8.75 you can get in, get rental skates and skate all day. that's a deal -tons of lockers -concession stand. not as overly priced as a movie theater -has arcades -spacious area upstairs to hosts parties or get-togethers -small area for begginers/children with helper rails/walkers -attendants to help in case of emergencies -lots of bleachers for spectators -rink is well maintained and cleaned every hour or so after getting continuosly hacked by ice skater's blades -staff is helpful cons: -it's old, so it's starting to show it's age here and there -arcades are old and ghetto looking -rental skates aren't the best quality, but hey, the'yre rentals right? overall: good cheap fun read more

The one place in Hawaii you can't help but to be cool. Ice palace is a fun place to go ice skating in Hawaii. Yes, there is ice skating in Hawaii! They offer lessons for kids and adults and public skating hours for those looking for something a little different to try. It's a great way to beat the heat in summer time and a fun place to hang out with your friends and family when the zoo, aquarium, and bishop museum has lost its luster. I used to go here weekly with my brother-in-law for skating lessons. The staff are super friendly and once they get to know you they're like family. It's amazing to see dedication for something like Ice Skating in Hawaii. Who would have thunk it! The downside...it can get crowded. EVERYONE comes here so parking can be difficult for this reason. If you're planning to come during public skating hours, get here early. If you're here for a lesson a lot of times they'll have free skating time afterwards for an hour. The place is also pretty run down. I've talked to people who came all the time as kids and then came back 20 years later with their own kids and they comment on how it looks exactly the same. That's not necessarily a good thing. It needs a few coats of paint and some TLC in certain departments. Most of the arcade games don't work anymore either. But hey, at least you can tell your friends that you went ice skating in Hawaii! They even have Hawaii Hockey shirts and sweatshirts. read more

OK so Ice Palace is old, dirty, and in need of major, MAJOR upgrades all around, but at $10 per person and no skating time restrictions (unless there's a hockey game/practice or figure skating) it's hard to beat. While yes, it's the only ice rink on the island, there's a lot of nostalgia here, and I know I'll be at the rink for at least 3 hours with each visit. The ice conditions are pretty good all things considered. So if you're looking to get away from the Hawaii heat this is a great place to go. This place will always have a special spot reserved in my heart. :) read more

Ice Palace is the Only skating rink on the island and that being said, they should be the Best! I think the fact that they have no competition allows them to get sloppy with one area of concern for me: Sanitation! The entire area (except the ice rink) was absolutely filthy. I'm talking from the rubber mats to about 5 feet up on all walls. The smell was what set it off for me; like the bathroom (which was dirty too) just extended out to the rest of the area. I think a good power wash with an antiseptic will do the trick. *I did not go upstairs to the party area because people were enjoying parties so I cannot comment on the upstairs; everyone that came down did seem to be enjoying their party:) The cost was very affordable and they had skates to fit our 3 year old which was Awesome; she loved every second on that ice. There are also plenty of lockers to store your valuables which is a plus in my book. There is a learning area which even though is small, it is Very useful. We were able to take the kids around and get them used to the ice with the metal walkers which was critical. Everyone was friendly and happy to be on the ice and that was really great. The ice rink was really fun; I remember as a kid going here and it's the same. Everyone was courteous and mindful which we appreciated not being expert skaters. We did eat a little snack at the concession stand which I was a bit concerned about; good popcorn and hot cocoa I must say. Overall my kids and family had a great time! I highly recommend coming here to ice skate just don't forget to bring your own sanitary wipes. Maybe I'm a clean freak...who knows:) read more

Haven't come to Ice palace in at least a Decade, and let's just say it hasn't changed much, which is sort of a good thing and sort of a bad thing. Though on a good note, they did get new skates which is awesome! The food is good, well the pizza, nachos, hot dogs, and churro was good. The hot cocoa is SUPER HOT, so be very careful when you take a teenie sip at first, but over all good. The PLACE WAS SLAMMED! I'm sure it's because there was a TON of birthdays all going on at the same time, it's also Sunday which makes it also very busy, but over all VERY, very busy. Too many people crowd the entrance to get into the "new" people area, the area that they block off of the main rink to have the bars to hold on to to skate with. It got too over crowded with people, so it may take awhile to get one of those things, if you need it. The ice gets eaten up real quick, which makes it hard to skate on, but they do a good job getting it cleaned up and smooth again. Let's people take a break to get food and use the bathroom, and just sit down. Used the bathroom for the women, it was as clean as a bathroom could be at an entertainment place. Which is good. They have lockers that's only 50 cents for small, and 75 cents for bigger ones, which is good, only junk thing, is that if you open it you have to pay again, and they don't have a change making machine, you have to buy something at the snack bar to get change. OH! Not enough tables to go around, had a lot of parties, so a lot of the tables were taken up, need more tables, or just chairs, I know they have a bleachers section, but it's hard to get up and down with small children, and it's hard to eat up there. Over all the experience was good, wish it wasn't so busy with little kids with me, but heck it was still fun, everyone had a good time and we'll probably be visiting again in the near future. They also had an arcade and other games surrounding the rink, but didn't have a chance to play any, I think it takes tokens and not money.. Another thing that you have to keep in mind, is that you can't leave ice palace and go to your car and come back without having to pay again. Took my 5 and 8 year old kids here on a Saturday afternoon and they had a good time. The person at the skate borrowing counter was friendly and helpful. Lots of kids but that made the visit that much more fun (to see others at the same skate ability as you). There is a section where the unsure ice skaters can practice with a metal walker thingy. Fun music to ice skate to and there was a game of hokepokey and limbo before the Zambino came out to smooth over the ice in the rink. I would recommend this place to anyone with kids read more

Been coming here for years since I was a kid! The food has improved since the last time I was here. The video game area has kinda improved too. Staff are nice and friendly. Just recently a fake plastic so called Ice skating rink popped up in Hawaii. I thought I go give it a whirl. Needless to say this place sucked! Nothing beats skating on real ice. A blissful place for kids and an "ok" place for parents- unless your a parent who isn't bothered by the dirty things. I have to admit, kids have a blast! An absolute blast! Even my younger child enjoyed being on ice although there were a number of falls, more than I could count on two hands. I think it might be the fact that this is the only ice rink in Hawaii which causes everyone and their neighbor to be here all at the same time. Besides the activity itself, which is fun, I really think this place needs to be updated or sanitized. From the cleanliness of the tables to the bathroom to the railings going upstairs....I wish it had a good wipe down. The parking isn't the easiest either. Regardless, it's the activity that matters- and the smile that the folks have on their face while they enjoy the ice cold while its 80 degrees outside. It all makes perfect sense. read more

We took a 10 year old for a day of skating and am not quite sure how to feel about the experience. The place was crowded full of kids, which is to be expected but it is also crawling with teenie boppers who think being loud and obnoxious is funny. They will knock little ones down on the rink and none of the employees will stop them. The bathrooms are grungy but not terrible. The pizza was alright, nothing to write home about. The rink was bumpy even right after they cleaned and freshened up the ice. No one is regulating the one way rule so you are constantly dodging children and teens. I won't be back. read more
