I love iceskimo! If you like to customize your dessert this is the place. I love their variety of topping and flavors. The service here is great and the staff does a great jon at explaining the flavors and how to order. They have tables inside and outside but I would recommend this place to groups of 4 or less since it's a small shop. I ordered their small size matcha shaved ice and added all my favorite toppings. The shaved ice was nice and creamy and very flavorful. The experience is similar to ordering froyo where you get your base and then add your toppings from a topping bar. A little pricey but worth a try. I will definitely be coming back!
Such a yummy ice cream spot! So many delicious toppings to choose from, and Robert was super nice and welcoming. Great service and a fun treat! Free parking lot.

The price is by weight, so make sure you wisely choose what to include. This is the perfect dessert spot for a casual & fun sweet treat! * Thai Tea Ice - 8.2/10 (the thai tea flavor was super robust. it reminds us of a thai milk tea you would get from a boba store, but in shaved ice form. the ice is very pillowy & melts in your mouth. the toppings that we chose complemented the thai tea flavor very well, & we liked how you get to add & choose as many toppings to your heart's desire)
Iceskimo is a popular Taiwanese shaved snow and artisan dessert shop located in the Kearny Mesa neighborhood of San Diego. The shop is a casual, quick-visit destination with limited indoor and outdoor seating. Server was friendly and efficient. Iceskimo is known for its light, ribbon-like "snow" that is creamier than traditional shaved ice but lighter than ice cream, the shop offers over 30 handmade flavors and a variety of customizable toppings like mini mochi, egg pudding, popping boba, and condensed milk drizzles. Their popular specialty drinks are Iceskimo Milk Tea, Vietnamese Coffee, and Matcha Strawberry Lattes. Their Snow Affogatos have a unique twist where flavor infusions are poured over shaved snow. We got the Mighty Matcha and it's not so sweet, perfect for our taste. Parking is located in a busy strip mall on Convoy Street. Parking in the immediate lot can be challenging during peak hours. There's a paid parking lot behind the building and additional street parking.
Wow! I just came across the Iceskimo trailer. it's so cool that they pop up in different locations. I tried the ube shave ice, and not only is the color beautiful, but the flavor is perfectly balanced. It is so nice and refreshing! I love that they use natural ingredients.
Service was good - the shaved ice itself was really lacking in flavor. We tried black sesame and jasmine milk tea, neither of which had much discernible sesame or tea flavor. Honestly without the condensed milk added, I don't think the ice would have tasted like anything at all on its own. Toppings were fine. I was impressed with how well run the shop was with just two people making bubble waffles, drinks, shaved ice, soft serve, etc. But the shaved ice itself was disappointing - especially since that's their claim to fame.
Iceskimo | Del Mar Mini Vanilla Soft Serve ($4.50) - This was a simple and standard vanilla soft serve, very comparable to the one at IKEA.
The jasmine milk tea shave snow is still a favorite! It's light and fluffy with a perfect floral flavor. The boba was a bit hard and chewy this time. Note that a small with no toppings will start around $9-$10 for just the shape snow. Plan accordingly so you're not surprised at the end since there are no prices on the menu. It's all weight based.
Very cool (literally) ice cream, smoothie, dessert place with excellent pineapple smoothies! Prompt and attentive service and cozier interior with a few countertop seats and tables. Check it out on Convoy!
Quick stop after a friend's dinner at Dumpling Inn. It helped that we already had parking and could walk to Iceskimo. When we walked in, the store was empty, so we had a chance to chat about their offerings and ask the two employees for their recommendations. We ended up each getting a different cup, with different flavors and toppings, and freely shared spoonfulls of desserts with each other. The ices were refreshing and light, and the toppings were perfect for the frozen treats. Our choices ranged from chocolate to fruity bases, with almost every topping they had available. They started to get very busy while we sat at three tables sharing our desserts. The shop was clean and bright, with decent seating (we did spread out but tried to consolidate our space as more people came in). We all enjoyed our post-dumplings desserts and agreed it was a good find.
Came here after dinner with some friends. I wasn't planning on getting anything until I saw they had a seasonal soft serve that was pumpkin spiced. It was a pumpkin spice waffle with vanilla soft serve, biscoff cookie, cheesecake bites, and caramel sauce for about $13. Seemed pretty pricey but honestly I would get it again. The combination was everything I loved about fall. Girls working the counter were quick and gave us ETA's on all our orders.
ABSOLUTELY LOVE!! this is great spot for ice cream & shaved snow. the shaved snow is pretty cheap, i think my friend paid $6 for a regular size cup. the bubble waffle comes with ice cream turned out about $11. absolutely loved the strawberry shorty, definitely share that cup between 2 ppl! will be back again!
Iceskimo is definitely different. Just look at the pictures, it's ice shavings! I've never had shavings before, so strange but it was delicious. I got black sesame ice with oreos, strawberries and condensed milk drizzle over the top. To be honest, you don't need the condensed milk, it's great without it. But who am I kidding, condensed milk makes everything better. I think what i got was called the cookie monster. The toppings they have remind me of yogurt lands selection. Open late too! read more

Was visiting SD and needed some well-deserved dessert goodies after a long hike so we decided to try IceSkimo. Yummy yummy in my tummy! I love that they have some unique flavors I have not tried before! They have black sesame, green tea matcha, lychee, salted caramel and others. You choose your size, then pick a flavor, and fill it up with whatever toppings you wish. And they charge by weight. Mine came out less than $4 for the regular size. I got black sesame with mochi and completely fell in love with it. It was my first time with black sesame snow. I'm Chinese and always liked black sesame dessert soups and mochi rice ball with black sesame in it, so it was just a win win choice for me. I tried some of my friend's lychee and the flavor was great too! Nothing tasted watered down and I love that they make it in front of you! read more

No dinner is fully complete without dessert! This place is conveniently located and satisfies a sweet tooth without being over the top. Some seating inside, as well as along their patio. If you are undecided on which yummy treat, the staff are ready to help and they offer some favorite combos. The main concept is flavored shave ice with toppings. And you pay by weight. My small bowl rang up to about $5. I got the Jasmine Trifecta which was refreshing and with flavorful bobas and other sides. I already know I want to try an afogato next visit! read more
Now with all the new dessert places popping up in SD, I'm glad we stumbled upon this place! I've never had shaved snow before, but I had a great experience here. There are variety of base shaved snow flavors to choose from, in addition to a ton of toppings, many of which you wouldn't find at your local Yogurtland. I got the Jasmine Milk Tea special, which had Jasmine milk tea, almond jelly, boba, and a few other items I personally added in. It was delicious. The small is pretty large but I couldn't let anything go to waste. Down to the last bite, everything was yummy! I think Tuesday is double stamp day on the stamp card?? Only downside is that the place is small but they even have a table outside in the parking lot for warmer days. Can't wait to be back! read more

I was strollin down the street with my friend (after stuffing our faces with Korean food at Friends house) to walk off our food babies.....when lo and behold, i ran into Iceskimo!! I was like "i literally have no room in my stomach right now x.x its gonna rupture any second...... Good thing i have a second stomach for dessert!!!lololol" So i walked in and decided to get more phat. Note: i am a HUGE sucker for black sesame, so when i saw that it was one of the flavors listed, I got super excited. When you order your snow ice flavor, they take out a hunk of flavored ice (of your selection), and produce fresh snow on the spot....like an Iceskimo.... Dadun-chii *omg sorry* T.T The iceskimo who was making my snow then asked if i wanted condensed milk in the center. When a iceskimo asks if you want condensed milk in the center, you always say yes, even if you want that summer VS body! My black sesame snow was far from aesthetically pleasing (it looked like the lint you find in a dryer), so i decided to spruce it up a bit. I sprinkled some crushed oreos and assembled my fruits: blueberry, mango, strawberrries, banana, pineapple, Kiwi, and a cancerous but neccessary-for-pics ruby red maraschino cherry. I also plopped in one house made mochi (so cool!) and made it rain with honey. To me, honey pairs beautifully with black sesame and makes a refreshing and sweet combo with the fresh, glistening fruits. Total price: approx $4.50. The taste of the black sesame snow was not watery at all, which is great! When it melts it tastes more milky, like icecream, and i was overall impressed that it wasn't watery and retained its flavor (unlike other snow ice places ive tried). The house made mochi was also yummy, especially dipped in the honey-- i really recommend you to try one! Ill definitely come back to this cute shop!! read more

Finally shaved snow has arrived to San Diego! This place is one to check out. The flavors that they offer are: black sesame, original, strawberry, lychee, salted caramel, and matcha green tea. I've tried the black sesame, lychee, and original, which were all great, but the one that edges them out by flavor would be the black sesame. It's flavor profile is a little more pronounced (in a good way) compared to its counterpart. And because it's shaved snow, the texture is so soft and just melts. It's so good. And light. They have an array of toppings, ranging from fresh fruits, to jelly, to candy and brownies. The employee gives you the shaved ice and you put your toppings. The carton is 48 cents per ounce. The only downside to this technique is if you want a specific amount of shaved snow (particularly less than what they give you). Either way, I'm sure I'll be back. The store itself has limited seating, but the parking lot is in a strip mall with several buildings closed down so at least there is plenty of parking. read more

They charge by weight and it was at the time of ordering 0.53 cents / oz. I tried the Matcha green tea shaved snow and it was okay. The taste of the Matcha green tea was pretty subtle and not as strong as I would have preferred or expected. It was pretty light in flavor and needed condensed milk to bring back some flavor/taste to the dessert. I added red beans and some mochi on top for more texture and flavor. Not sure if I would recommend this place to others as this is not the best I have had and the taste of their shaved snow was not strong enough in my opinion. Our shaved snow came to about $5.35. For what I got, I wouldn't have paid that much for it. Cudos for them on promoting that their shaved snow are made from real ingredients but the flavors need to be a lot stronger/present to win me over which sadly did not at time of visit. read more

Been meaning to try this place but it wasn't a priority because I'm frightened of shaved ice. However, I learned that this ain't your mom's shaved ice. It's light and fluffy because each thin layer is flanked by air pockets. I told them to throw on a dab of condensed milk but FYI not necessary because the ice provides just enough sweetness. The toppings (a la those frozen yogurt places) were numerous but I was partial to the lychee, peanuts, mochi, and the mangoes were über sweet as I reckon it's peak season. Oh, and black sesame ice is always the way to go. My only concern was the nutrition content. Ice is healthy, right? read more
What a great little spot and frozen yogurt alternative. You get the same craving fulfilled but get a little bit more of a unique cold treat. My favorite here is the original milk ice. They charge about .48 cents per oz which is pretty similar to most froyo spots. You get to either pick a creation of theirs, or make your own. The first time I stopped in, I got a popular pre made creation that wasn't offered this time. I'm assuming they change it up frequently because they had a coffee option this time with panna cotta. Sounded amazing!! Instead I went back to my favorite and added my own fruits and a couple different jellies with condensed milk of course. My only complaint is that it isn't closer to home! read more

Iceskimo. Shaved ice + liquid ice cream = shaved snow, no? At least that's the best I can describe the texture. Very light but still creamy (unless you get the dairy free flavors then I don't think it will be creamy....). Right next to Kula, that super cool looking rotating sushi restaurant that currently has a line for a 2.5 hour wait, oh and Dumpling Inn. Yikes. The parking lot can get rather full depending on the time you go so street parking may be your best choice. It's also an extremely small store on the inside with little seating and some tables outside. It is much like those DIY frozen yogurt places that charge by the ounce. They advertise 2 sizes (small--4 to 6 oz, or large--5 to 7 oz) but you can actually get one smaller than the small by telling them you want a kid size and they will shave less. There's a small bar of toppings less than froyo places but with jello varieties, candies, and less fruit choices. I got the small Matcha Match Maker (of the favorites in the store) but substituted the mini mochi for almond jelly (my absolute favorite), and boyfriend got a large Cookie Monster. The Matcha Match Maker comes in green tea shaved snow, condensed milk (which you can ask them to put in the middle of the snow), adzuki red beans, and mini mochi. The Cookie Monster comes in black sesame shaved snow, condensed milk, strawberries, and crumbled Oreos. Both were really good but next time if I'll just do either black sesame shaved snow with condensed milk and crushed oreos, or matcha green tea shaved snow with condensed milk with almond jelly. Or I might even try the Original Snow (it's got grass jelly in it!). Don't forget to ask for a card to gather stamps! read more
I love this place!!! Best Taiwanese shaved ice I've ever had. What's cool about this place is it's by weight. So, you order your flavor with one of the staff members and they shave the ice for you. They have various flavors such as their original milk, green tea, chocolate, strawberry, lychee, passion fruit, and a few other ones. I tried their original milk and strawberry and I think the original milk is my favorite. Their shaved ice isn't too sweet. It's just right! After they finish shaving it, you can top it with whatever you want! They have fruit, cereal, chocolate, aloe jelly, popping boba, tapioca balls, mocha, etc. They have a lot of toppings to choose from! In the end you can top it off with condense milk (which I HIGHLY recommend!) and then they weigh it. If you don't know what you want they also have some ideas/creations on their menu. After eating Jeong Wong I was craving something sweet so my boyfriend and I came over here cause we've been wanting to try it. It was my first time there so I didn't know how it worked. But I got the small matcha green tea and after the girl was done she handed it to me and I didn't know I was supposed to take it and put my own toppings so I told her "oh yeah that's good" thinking she was showing me how much she put it HAHAHAHA and she gave me a look like are you stupid?! And I told her it was my first time. And she still looked at me and so I asked "do I get my own toppings?" And she finally nodded. HELLOOOOO you could've told me that you put your own toppings.... Made me feel real uncomfortable and stupid -_- haha but whatever! The cashier guy was nicer. Anyways after that embarrassing moment we ate our shaved ice and it was SOO good!! I really enjoyed it because I've only had it in LA and they now finally have a spot that's just as good. I'll definitely be back whenever I'm craving something sweet. The joys of living in beautiful Southern California. You hop in your car, drive to beach, drive to the mountains and then after all your adventures, drive to ICESKIMO and indulge in THE SPECIAL: Lemon Mojito- Actual Meyer Lemon Snow, beautifully fresh picked raspberries and That's not all folks... When you open the door, the ICESKIMO staff greet you with cheerful smiles. Always so helpful in helping you decide which flavor suits your tastebuds. I enjoy driving down from North County to have ICESKIMO Snow. I also enjoy bringing out of town guests to this awesome establishment. Definitely an asset to Kearny Mesa. P.S. I love the color of the cups and the accent wall and the teal color chairs. Crisp and clean and hip store. I love you ICESKIMO snow! read more

Not too fatty, not too sweet, that's just how I like my treats! Iceskimo serves shaved ribbons of ice (or should I say snow since its fluffy and soft?) in a variety of great flavors. My personal favorite is the matcha green tea. My boyfriend, on the other hand, loves the toasted coconut. You can choose your own choice of toppings or choose from a set menu. It's similar to getting froyo. It's delicious! I often crave. I'm here almost once a week. No shame :] read more

I wish I came up with this business plan. Excellent and unique for San Diego - Taiwainese shave ice is unlike anything Ive had before. They serve many varieties and offer plenty of toppings typical of a froyo joint. It was delicious and refreshing without being overly sweet and is surprisingly low cal. Loud inside with not much seating but they added picnic tables outside to accommodate for that. Good and quick service. They offer a frequent buyer punch card too. read more
Handcrafted drinks and flavored infused Ice shaved thin and topped with treats like Almond jelly, grass jelly, mini mochi, toasted coconut, aloe, flavored boba, fruit and candies. Seeing Stumptown won me over and then I tried a few different flavors. The Coffee Horchata with Boba was a yummy combo, the Watermelon Lemon was refreshing for a hot summer day and then I had the Passion Fruit with several toppings. It had a nice balance between tart and sweet. The staff are friendly, helpful and quick at shaving the ice. Will be back for more and for Stumptown! read more

Friend referred me here and after having LA shaved snow, I was excited to hear about this place in SD. Parking is easy enough to find. It's right next to the Jasmine dim sum place. Service was quick and friendly. It was our first time there and they recommended some of their set ones because the toppings were supposed to match the shaved snow flavor. Ordered the Matcha comin' Atcha. It consisted of green tea shaved snow, mini mochi, red bean, and condensed milk. I also added almond jelly. It wasn't the best shaved snow I've had, but it wasn't half bad. The green tea shaved snow has a more subtle flavor and wasn't really my cup of tea. I will probably come back and try their taro flavor instead. They have a frequent customer card and you get stamps based on how many ounces your order is. Nice overall addition to the dessert community. Will come back. read more

me and my bf came here to kill some time waiting for a restaurant. it was so good! he got the snickerdoodle and I got the cookie monster waffle ice cream. the waffle was soft yet crunchy and warm and the toppings were excellent. will definitely be back to try more! read more
Came here tonight to try the new shaved snow joint in SD! It's pretty good. We really wanted the oolong flavored one, but it's on the test kitchen ): sad. I opted for the sesame & original flavor with grass jelly, mochi, & a light bit of condensed milk. I really liked that the shaved snow wasn't super sweet. I also liked the flavor quite a bit. However, I think that it could still use more sesame and more milky flavor! I've had some pretty delicious sesame flavored desserts that are packed with flavor. Don't get me wrong. The one here is definitely good. My personal taste is that I like the strong bold flavors to show up in whatever I'm eating. The original flavor was the one that lacked the most flavor thought. It was just okay. The grass jelly wasn't sweet. I love that! I wish they had the big homemade pieces of mochi rather than the typical Yogurtland mini mochis. TL;DR-sesame flavor is the way to go. They don't have the oolong one right now ): would go again! read more
Loveeee that SD finally has a shaved snow location. I love the green tea and the black sesame. The green tea is perfectly not too sweet, although it is a little watery. The black sesame is delicious. It's pay by weight, but the server still control the amount of snow you get, you just get to pick the type and amount of toppings. I love how they have red bean, an absolute must (although probably heavier than most toppings (those damn beans)). They also have some pre-made combinations that all sound delicious. My first stop when I get back into SD next time. read more

I love all sorts of shaved snow/shaved ice, so I was very happy when I found Iceskimo about a year ago. The shaved snow is very fluffy and feels light even after eating a huge portion and the toppings are all really fresh :)! I have tried Matcha Green Tea, Sesame, Original Milk, Strawberry, Lychee and Mango (mango flavor is for the summer months only) & milk tea (currently not on the menu) So far, I personally enjoyed everything but the lychee. As some of the other yelpers have stated, the flavors are a too light and subtle. I would say the most flavorful flavors would be Original Milk and Mango, the other flavors could definitely use a little more flavor :P Also, if you want 2 different flavors, you would HAVE to get a large which will be about $6 to $7 with toppings, which is a bit pricey to me. I can't wait till they have mango flavor again! Tip: make sure to get a stamp card! read more

This place is located in a strip mall right behind Jasmine restaurant. It has a tiny little seating area but it's clean and bright and happy. I love this place! We have been here three days in a row since we found it. The shaved ice is so light and fluffy and the toppings are fresh. I just can't tell you how good it is you just have to come see for yourself. The employees are also very nice and helpful. I think I like the salted caramel the best. My daughter loves the strawberry. And speaking of strawberry, they have these things called strawberry poppers that look like salmon eggs. They are aaamazing! Little balls that pop full of juicy strawberry goodness. I think they could be a great dessert all by themselves. Give this place a try. I'm sure you be hooked. They also have punch cards so don't forget to ask for one. Cute and fun dessert spot! After too many glasses of wine, we needed to tone it down with some dessert. My cousin gave me the lowdown on this spot how you pick your flavor, pick your toppings, etc. etc. etc... I've seen shaved ice like this in pics, but I never got the chance to do it myself! After reviewing the menu, I see that they have specials and set desserts, but It's nice to choose and do your own toppings. I needed to be plain - I'm a simple girl after all! I had the vanilla flavor, topped it with some chocolate chip cookie dough pieces, crunchy coconut shreds, and strawberries to make it seem healthy. Then i made it unhealthy with some condensed milk. In my head, I just realized I made the best thing ever! Texture, flavors, portion, it was all too perfect! If it was a hot day, it would be exactly what I needed. read more

It's like a froyo shop but with Taiwanese shaved ice! They have preset combos or you can just pick your shaved ice flavor and your toppings, but either option is still by weight. You can also add toppings to the preset ones too. I have gotten the Cookie Monster with chocolate shaved ice as the substitute for sesame and also tried the original and green tea flavors. The original has a milk flavor and actually complements all the toppings really well. Both chocolate and green tea had good flavor, but I think I like green tea the best. They will usually ask if you want condensed milk in the middle (which is awesome, say yes!) but sometimes they forget. If I don't get condensed milk, I find that the shaved ice actually feels a little dry. Fruits will make it much heavier, but they have fresh fruit and it tastes great with the shaved ice. They also have all the toppings you would normally see: choco chips, popping boba, oreos etc. I think what's unique about this place is that they have some drinks, sesame flavor, and also fig jelly. It is not too expensive and makes for a slightly lighter dessert option than ice cream or liege waffles. There is limited seating and it gets very crowded at night. I think the coolest thing is their condensed milk bottle, it has three nozzles instead of one which is quite interesting to watch...ANYWAYS. So I only stopped by this place to try it out because I was next door & the name iceskimo caught my name & I thought it sounded & looked very cute inside! I don't think there's any other place in San Diego that does Taiwanese shaved ice so I thought I'd give it a try. You can choose the flavor of shaved ice that you'd like & add toppings from the topping bar just as you would a frozen yogurt place. I got the lychee shaved ice & my bestfriend got the strawberry. In my opinion the lychee shaved ice was very very bland but the strawberry was okay. Nothing extremely special about the shaved iced. Just a variation of froyo with the same concept of adding your own toppings. You also pay by weight as you would a frozen yogurt place. Customer service was great though & the girls behind the counter were very nice & helpful. read more

Finally got to try this place out! I've been wanting to come here but every time I drive by, it's busy. My boyfriend and I came here on a Thursday afternoon. They had a few customers but it wasn't as crowded as I usually see. The parking is decent but since there's other restaurants in the same plaza, it gets packed! We were able to find parking within 15 minutes. Just wait! We ordered one of the customized shaved snow, which was Cookie Monster. It's black sesame shaved snow with oreo crumbs, strawberries, and condensed milk. You're able to add additional toppings if you like. We added cookie dough and it was so yummy! We both enjoyed the Cookie Monster. We also ordered a watermelon drink. It was very refreshing! If the customized ones aren't to your liking, you can choose a flavor you like and choose whatever toppings you like! It's similar to yogurt. I'll definitely come back and make my own. read more

Is their anything gluten free on the menu?
I believe the shaved snow is gluten free since it doesn't contain eggs. But if you visit, you should definitely ask just in case!

Hi Tina! Yes! We have dairy free options available. Most of our snow contain milk except for Lychee, Lychee Rose, Passion Fruit, and Lemonade.
