I was recommended to K2 Braiders and was really looking forward to bringing my daughter here, but…read moreunfortunately, I was cancelled on just an hour and a half before the appointment. The reason given was extremely disappointing, especially with such little notice. Because of the cancellation, I had to scramble to find another place at the last minute. Thankfully, I was able to squeeze in at a nearby braiding salon, and they were kind enough to stay after hours so they could accommodate my daughter and make sure she wasn't disappointed. I've already informed the people who recommended K2 Braiders to me, and they were also very disappointed and said they will no longer be returning or referring anyone. Unfortunately, after this experience, I will not be coming here. I understand that things can happen, but cancelling so close to an appointment can put customers in a very difficult position, especially when it involves a child and a scheduled event. All of this happened because my new phone number was associated with an old client she had, someone who had nothing to do with my daughter and me.

Instead, I came in to have a kid playing in my hair. Not a stylist. She was a kid with no hair skills, which again I should have followed the clues of the space. A bed. Another kid in the space but in a weird way. Dirty chairs. An Amazon ordered hair dryer. It looked like what it was: a dump to make quick money. It was a heartbreaking experience and unless you're getting your hair braided I don't recommend this space. My shirt was wet, my face was wet, my tinted moisturizer smudged, and my hair soaked with oil just placed on top not into my hair. I was happy and seeking to support a local hair care space owned by Blacks/Africans but there was no honor nor no respect given to me. They even charged me/quoted me a different price, which I discovered when my friend shared with me how much she paid for a wash and blow dry. I paid a generous fee for bad customer care and no respect. It is shocking but not surprising she asked for $25 when what they did to my wash was a wild horrible job. The young girl had no idea what she was doing or where she was at. I hope the one time, quick pay was worth it over quality care and long time clients. From the beginning, I found the experience uncomfortable. The stylist was extremely rough while handling and braiding my hair, and the finished style did not look like the inspiration photo I had provided. However, I want to be very clear: my biggest issue was not that I simply disliked the hairstyle or felt uncomfortable during the appointment. My concern was the loss of my hair. Less than an hour after leaving the salon, I took the braids down and observed hair coming out with them. I took photos immediately, which I am including with this review. I contacted Fatou afterward and explained what had happened. I was told that there are no refunds. Fatou offered to have my hair re-braided and provide the hair at no additional cost, but after what had just happened to my hair, I did not trust returning to the salon and allowing my hair to be braided again. In my situation, a redo did not address the issue. I paid $280 for a hairstyle that I removed less than an hour after it was completed, and despite reporting the hair loss and providing photos, I was not offered a full refund, a partial refund, or any other monetary compensation. I understand that businesses may have refund policies, but I felt my circumstances went beyond simply being dissatisfied with a hairstyle. Ultimately, I walked away having lost both hair and $280, and that is what made this experience so upsetting for me. I am sharing my experience and the photos so that others can make an informed decision for themselves. I cannot speak to anyone else's experience with this salon, but based on what happened to me and how my concerns were handled afterward, I would not return.
