The tempura shrimp was rather bland even with the sauce that came with it. The soup was good, but I didn't care for the pork. My friend liked it, but for me it's too fatty. Flavor-wise, it was super tasty and satisfying to the palate. The broth had a rich pork flavor without being overly salty, which made the soup very enjoyable from start to finish. Everything came out hot and fresh. However, my drink was almost forgotten until I prompted it so I would double check all orders. *Thai Tea: the tea wasn't the strongest and it was a bit heavy on the ice and half and half. It would taste better if the tea was steeped for longer or made up more of the drink. *Edamame: good portion size for the price. These were steamed well and salted generously. *Tonkatsu Ramen: the noodles were on the softer side. The broth was creamy and thick. There was prominent and rich pork flavor and the aromatics shone. The egg was a tad overcooked but there was still a mildly gooey center. The corn and bean sprouts were average but the seaweed added some saltiness and subtle crunch. The chashu was tender but the cut was on the smaller side. There was subtle sweetness but the marinade could have been stronger. The broth was a stand out compared to other restaurants. I love this place so so much. I wish I lived farther away because I come way too often. Sometimes it'll be really busy and the wait will be 40ish minutes while other times there's no wait at all! Interior is pretty tiny but it's decorated really well and it isn't too crowded inside. Also, there's an automatic gratuity for parties of 6 or more. Each bowl is around $20 and the portion size is good (but I usually don't have leftovers).There are so many options for ramen. We are so glad we made the trip, what a gem to find this place, it's locally owned and operated by some amazing ladies that rock this Japanese cuisine. Everything was delicious, the portions were excellent, the broths from all the ramen's and udon's were so flavorful. We had to start off the night with some Kimchi and pork belly, all I can say is wow! They have such an awesome selection on the menu, something for everyone. The waitress was busy as she was the only one for the restaurant but she was still mindful, attentive, and very kind. She was considerate about us having young kids and made recommendations for that and even referred to us as "mama" and "papa." My boyfriend asked the server if they had the red pepper in the shaker (Shichimi togarashi) but the server said she was new and didn't know what that was and pointed at the chili oil. I ordered the kimchi chicken ramen, I appreciated the soft boiled egg. Overall, food and service was good. The ramen here is so good, I've had the Spicy Tonkotsu, Miso, and Milky ramen. I do like the Tonkotsu ramen broth the best. It's just so flavorful and rich. The Chashu is always cooked to perfection. After various picture from OTHER Yelpers drove me mad, I decided to search closer to my area rather than drive to Clovis. I reasoned correctly that if the food was roughly equal, it would get into my mouth sooner. Not that there's ever much of a barrier to that happening... This location is right across from Fashion Fair (East side) next to the Starbucks on the corner. It's a smaller location and gets a bit crowded, but I liked the counter area away from the pack where they seated me. The staff was friendly and alert. THANKFULLY there was no vapid music playing or some lame TV blaring out mindless nonsense.... It was great not being further stimulated, like Mount Vesuvius. Yes, that Ramen is hot like a volcano, but that's expected. I enjoyed the appetizer of fried oysters and the Pork Ramen was super tasty. You can't really get a non-salty ramen but some places are more inspired by Morton than others... It wasn't too bad here... I always love the mix of things in these ramens, the veggies, meats, eggs and although I never thought I'd say this, I love seaweed! Yes, more weeds from the sea, please! The ramen was both filling and tasty and by the time I let it cool, large shovels of ramen and broth filled me up pretty good. Unfortunately, I'd thought and expected that the type of ramen I'd ordered had the round, thin sliced pork in it but instead, it was chunks that were not as tasty. No worries, I'd just order ANOTHER side, but this time I'd mess up by thinking 'katsu and chashu' pork were the same. They are not. I thought I'd ordered the Cashu pork but instead was served the Katsu. That was terrible, a thick, hard fried number. I tired to make a go of it but was getting 'gagula' from the pork and couldn't eat it. lol They were so nice taking it away and not charging me... sadly, I can see why these two similar sounding items might be mixed up.... One minor complaint is the over packed out areas...all the overly busy signs and unnecessary things taking away from what should be a more calming envion... The bathroom was clean and well stocked. As it should be... I'm not sure why there is crap laying all over the counter where folks eat. Empty nut bottles, medications, a bottle of Pepto Bismol directly on the eye level shelf facing the customer.
