Great tasting ramen! My family and I made this place a pit-stop for dinner on a Sacramento to Los Angeles trip. Our original target was the Fresno location, but due to a GPS entry error, we ended up at their Clovis location! It was a little longer drive than usual, but still well-worth the drive. And besides, we were on a family long weekend break so who cares about distance... Our orders were quickly taken on the counter and we were off to find our table. A lot of places to choose from inside and outside seating was also available. And the place was nicely decorated and well-lit! Feels comfortable to dine inside! The menu was quite expansive. And you even have the choice of minor changes to the regular menu. I ordered an Oxtail Ramen...a first of this kind for me, so I just had to have it. And it passed with flying colors! High hopes. Didn't completely hit the mark. You order at the counter, then they bring the food out to your table. Staff was friendly, though it was very little interaction. Good amount of tables and seats. Simple, minimal decor and it was clean, from what I can remember. He got the Shoyu Ramen (#2) and I got the Spicy Miso Ramen (#4). We both agreed the broth wasn't as hot as we'd like and could use just a touch more flavor. Both were okay, but I preferred my broth more. I wish I paid attention to the fact that mine came with THIN noods though... I feel like I would've enjoyed my dish way more with thick noodles. To be honest, I should have done the build-your-own Ramen and selected everything I wanted myself... now I know. You live and you learn. The Wontons were good but we didn't eat much of it, as it came out the same time as the ramen. Once the ramen was served, our main focus was on that and that filled us up! Packed the rest to go. For this being our first time, it wasn't bad but it didn't wow us. If I'm being honest, so far-- the best Ramen we've ever had was in a small little shop we found while in Thailand back in March (yup, Thailand!). Unfair to this rating maybe? I came back to Ramen Hayashi for a second try after my first visit left me a bit underwhelmed, and I'll say right away, this visit was a noticeable improvement. The first time I tried the tonkotsu ramen as takeout and gave it 2 stars. The noodles were soggy from the start and the broth just didn't hit the depth of flavor I was expecting. It felt like something was missing. This time, I dined in and ordered both the spicy miso ramen and tonkotsu ramen, plus a side of chicken karaage. Eating onsite made a difference right away, the noodles held up and the overall taste of the ramen was significantly better. The spicy miso ramen was good, but I was honestly hoping for a stronger miso punch and a bit more heat. It leaned a little milder than expected, though still enjoyable. The tonkotsu this time was better balanced than my first visit. The chicken karaage was good as well. Crispy, light batter, juicy inside really solid fried chicken. I personally would've liked a squeeze of lemon and maybe some Japanese mayo on the side to elevate it even more, but that's just preference. Overall, I feel like this place redeemed itself on a second visit, especially dining in. I'll need to come back to try more of their specialty ramens. read more

I wanted to try their Spicy Miso Ramen because it has thin noodles and also I love Takoyaki. The place is pretty spacious. They have lots of seating. You order at the cashier first. Their menu has a pretty big selection and I like how their ramen has descriptions of what they have and what kind of noodles. They gave me a buzzer and told me it would take 10 mins for my order to come out. They even offered me a tall water glass. They have fountain drinks with the touch screen. It took a bit for my food to come out. They have spices and condiments on the table. They served my ramen out first on a nice tray and bowl with spoon and fork. The employee offered me chopsticks. But I was curious about my Takoyaki, he said it was still being cooked so he checked on that. I understand it's deep fried so it takes more time but wish it came out first for an appetizer. Then he came back with it. I ended up just eating the Takoyaki more than the ramen. The ramen broth was good. But the Takoyaki was amazing. It was fresh and very tasty. The extra veggie broth was by far the best I have tasted, with a little tang. I enjoyed dropping some of my noodles there too. The fried rice was hot and tasty, and a good portion as well. Prices were reasonable, and ingredients matched descriptions. The notes I do have: one is definitely the tofu. I have enjoyed tofu for years, in many different forms, but the tofu I had was a bit of a let down. Each piece was deflated inside each bite...like unfortunately, they each lost their texture and potential oomph. Just not fresh and vibrant tasting- the appearance was beautiful though. The veggie rolls were also not quite up to par- just not hot and fresh tasting. I have the Lins Restaurants app and received the "we miss you" offer of $30 off a $50 order. Unfortunately, it didn't work when we ordered and the app was glitchy. The employee was very patient and tried his best to help. He asked the manager and they couldn't figure it out. They ended up offering the garlic edamame on the house. $7 instead of $30... My son wanted some ramen and this place was the closest in the area we were already at. I got him the spicy miso since he likes spicy. I didn't have to wait too long for the food even tho there was a whole line. Got the noods and went home. I like how they separate the noodles and toppings and it's sitting right on top of the broth but not touching. That way the noodles don't be soggy. And it's easier to just dump it into the bowl. I tried the broth and for me, I wasn't impressed. For one, it's not spicy, and for two, it had a strong taste of bamboo or frozen veggies.. Living near LOs Angeles and having had some straight up Japan imports I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This place honestly surprised me. I was craving ramen and wanted something close so I decided to try out this place. Concept of this place is a self-ordering place which I personally like. It was quite slow when I had gone in. Alana had taken my order and was super patient and kind. Guided me through their menu, asked for any allergies, and the concept of how their system works with seating and trackers. Another server had brought out my food and also offered to bring out chili oil and chili powder to adjust the spice to my liking. I had gotten the Tonkotsu ramen and it was AMAZING by far the best tonkotsu broth I've had here!! The appetizers we chose chashu tacos and cheesy croquettes were a bit on bland side and disappointing because usually the appetizers that J-Lin creates are tasty. It's their ramen plain and simple, but what I didn't know is that their appetizers are just as delicious. Ramen Hayashi is more of a fast casual ramen experience. Ordering is done at the counter and they bring you your food. We did just this and waited on their outdoor patio to dig in. I made a custom bowl with spicy miso, thin noodles and chicken. I made a grave mistake and should've gotten pork, like I always do, but figured with the appetizers I would be at my pork limit for the day. The Ramen was good, but I wasn't getting very much spice and had to add spicy seasonings to my bowl. Plus without the pork it lacked that deep flavorful broth. My wife got the shoyo miso bowl off the menu and it was delicious. Rich flavorful broth with thick noodles, mushrooms, and thin sliced pork. I definitely had order envy. For the apps we ordered chicken karage, cheesy corn croquettes, pork gyoza, and nikuman; a Japanese steamed bun filled with pork, shiitake mushroom, and cabbage. Of course, my kids loved the chicken karage (fried chicken bites) and the pork gyoza as did I, but the nikuman buns were my favorite.
