No complaints at all! I loved this place and walking in I could tell that it's a home grown business. It was so hard to choose between ramen and curry but for my first time I tried their ramen. My son got the curry and let me tell you, that pork cutlet was made to PERFECTION!! Service was very quick and they made sure to check in on us throughout our meal. I cannot wait to come back and get a plate of curry!!

Mostly finished spicy Tonkatsu Ramen. Not spicy but more peppery.

Good flavors with dedicated chef/owner. There are limited vegetables for vegan or pescatarian options. We came here with a party of 10 and that's where we made a mistake. Reservations would be a good idea. This cute clean place is not made for large groups and this seems to stress out the short staffed small business. Would come back again if one of the kids request it and most likely better to order out for parties larger than 4.

Delicious ramen, some of the best I've had in Fresno. Spot is small and gets packed so keep that in mind. But the owners and staff were very humble, helpful and kind. Will absolutely be coming back. The Kurotaka ramen is delicious, garlicky and spicy.

Love the ramen here! The tonkotsu is legit. It's like biting into a oiggy's behind. But today I'm gonna share their curry. I got it to-go but it was still good. This is homemade Japanese curry, not made from the cubes. It's deep flavor and large portions is worth trying. Service is good although they are short handed with staff and we can order ourselves. The dark black interior is chic and kind makes me think of a jazz bar. My favorite ramen and Japanese curry place in Fresno.

Great little ramen spot with a really nice blast of garlic and ginger and brother. After a long day of work, I would come over, listen to the jazz, and destroy some ramen.

You're not going to get better ramen in the Central Valley - I don't think that's an overstatement when talking about Kurotaka Ramen. Chef Richard was both a restaurant owner in Japan and the SF Bay Area, where competition for ramen is much higher - and it's clear that it honed his art a lot. On top of that - him and his staff are super friendly and seem to care a lot about the quality of his food and the comfort of his guests. I'll definitely return and suggest anyone to visit here. They have cold ramen for those hot Fresno months too!

They're open from noon-3PM and then from 5-9PM. I went on a Saturday and got there around 2:30PM. It wasn't too crowded so I got a seat right away facing the parking lot. I ordered the spicy ramen and added extra meat and eggs (~$25). The broth was flavorful, but it wasn't spicy in my opinion and I think I could've asked for more if I had requested it. The meat was ok and the egg yolk wasn't running as I'd hoped. The noodles reminded me of cup ramen noodles but overall, once you combine everything with the broth, it was still a delicious meal.

Solid ramen spot. Honestly can't really say anything bad about this place. Service was great. Inside was dark, they had jazz music playing. Seating was limited but overall I would be back. We got the kurotaka mild ramen and the tonkotsu ramen. I personally prefer the noodles to be a tad bit thicker. However the broth of both the ramens were very good. Overall this place was decent. It gave what it needed to give and most likely would come back. Gyoza was also a solid, crispy and flavorful.

Great service and food! We walked in a little after the last business hour and we were kindly greeted and seated. I've been looking for a great chicken curry bowl in town (my current obsession , I can eat this everyday, no joke) and I've found it. Its perfect! Please know that I'll return and order this again and again! I've had the Kurotaka ramen and it's fantastic as well! Definitely the best ramen spot in the Central Valley!

Best ramen I've had so far and I've tried many! Such a unique and clean tasting broth. The server was so welcoming and provided detailed explanation about their food! If I'm ever in Fresno again this will be my first stop!

This place is a gem in Fresno! Its a must try if you are a Ramen Fan.. The lady who was serving us was very nice. She personally suggested what are the options for kids as my kids love noodles but not so much of the veggies and spice. We were going to order their ramen w/o any veggies but chef informed us that the broth w/o veggies will not be as flavorful as the special broth they serve with ramen. It's a cozy little spot with a wall displaying menu pictures that include the main ingredients. Helps you to visualize what you'd like to eat. We ordered Kurotaka Spicy Ramen, Tonkatsu Ramen and Kurotaka Ramen for the kids. We all enjoyed our meal, and the kids were so delighted that they asked the server to thank the chef on their behalf. Despite being busy in the kitchen, the chef's effort was truly appreciated!

It was quite an interesting industrial, unfinished aesthetic. Definitely nostalgic and made me miss my fixed up white Acura Integra..ala 2001. Yea..I'm a girl and yea I use to race. ;) Such a good pit stop on our family's Spring Break road trip to Yosemite. It definitely refueled us for the rest of our journey. Known for its customizable ramen bowls with flavorful broths and a wide variety of toppings, as well as, other menu items like rice bowls, bentos, and dumplings, Tsuchiya Ramen definitely lived up to it's almost 5 star Yelp reviews. The waitress was friendly and the food came out fairly quickly once our order was taken ~ less than 10 mins for sure! I ordered the spicy miso ramen ($17.99) with a sweet corn side (+$1.50) and complimentary topping of the fried garlic. The hakata (thin style noodles) were perfectly cooked, with a lil al dente bit to them. It had all the trimmings that I like ~ green onion, chashu, jammy egg, crunchy wood ear mushrooms, naruto fish cake, marinated bamboo, and nori. The broth was authentic, flavored with such depth. You can really taste the slow-cooked, miso quality in it. I loved the fried garlicky taste too! It was the right level of spice, I didn't even need to add any chili oil, like I usually do. My picky daughter opt'd for the "make your own ramen" option (starting at $12.99) ~ getting the same hakata thin noodle with tonkatsu broth, chashu (+$3.25), fried tofu (+$2.50), and freebie toppings of nori, sesame seeds & fried garlic. My son ordered the OG tonkatsu ramen w/ extra marinated bamboo (+$2) on the side. Lastly, the hubs wanted to eat lighter & healthier, so he opt'd for the teriyaki chicken rice bowl. Everyone loved their meal pick. Dare I say..I even think it ranks better than some of the ramen joints in the OC. Who knew Fresno was poppin' in the foodie dept? Lol A total RxFoodie recommend and I'd return if I'm ever in the area again!

We both agreed that the garlic miso was by far the standout -- easily one of the most flavorful broths in town. Rich, savory, and packed with flavor, it's definitely something I'll be craving again. We also tried the gyoza, which was decent, but honestly the garlic miso udon soup stole the show and is probably all I'll order next time. Service was excellent from start to finish. They were quick to answer the phone when we called to check if they were open for the holiday, our food came out fast and piping hot, and the staff checked on us multiple times throughout the meal. Our water glasses were always refilled, which we really appreciated. Overall, a great experience with both delicious food and attentive service. Only got a photo of the tonkatsu below! Great tasting ramen!…read more My family and I made this place a pit-stop for dinner on a Sacramento to Los Angeles trip. Our original target was the Fresno location, but due to a GPS entry error, we ended up at their Clovis location! It was a little longer drive than usual, but still well-worth the drive. And besides, we were on a family long weekend break so who cares about distance... Our orders were quickly taken on the counter and we were off to find our table. A lot of places to choose from inside and outside seating was also available. And the place was nicely decorated and well-lit! Feels comfortable to dine inside! The menu was quite expansive. And you even have the choice of minor changes to the regular menu. I ordered an Oxtail Ramen...a first of this kind for me, so I just had to have it. And it passed with flying colors! The first time I tried the tonkotsu ramen as takeout and gave it 2 stars. The noodles were soggy from the start and the broth just didn't hit the depth of flavor I was expecting. It felt like something was missing. This time, I dined in and ordered both the spicy miso ramen and tonkotsu ramen, plus a side of chicken karaage. Eating onsite made a difference right away, the noodles held up and the overall taste of the ramen was significantly better. The spicy miso ramen was good, but I was honestly hoping for a stronger miso punch and a bit more heat. It leaned a little milder than expected, though still enjoyable. The tonkotsu this time was better balanced than my first visit. The chicken karaage was good as well. Crispy, light batter, juicy inside really solid fried chicken. I personally would've liked a squeeze of lemon and maybe some Japanese mayo on the side to elevate it even more, but that's just preference. Overall, I feel like this place redeemed itself on a second visit, especially dining in. I'll need to come back to try more of their specialty ramens.

I was immediate greeted by the two Sushi chefs behind the counter as I walked in. Not long after, the host greeted me and handed me a menu for me to select my order to go. I considered a poke bowl, however, their sauces were pretty standard. So instead I opted for their seaweed salad that came with a number of protein including tuna, edamame, shrimp, avocado, and masago. It was $19, so it wasn't necessarily inexpensive, however I figured a poke bowl with a couple proteins would run me right about there as well. The sushi chef got right away to work preparing my meal and I was in and out within 5 minutes. When I got home, I opened up my box and was a little underwhelmed with the presentation. The protein is cut up into small pieces and mixed in with the seaweed salad. In addition it is not pure seaweed as it is also mixed in with a bunch of other greens such as sprouts. So while the presentation was not what I was expecting, I was pleasantly surprised that I really enjoyed the flavors and textures. I will definitely order this again.

When we arrived, we were told the wait would be about 45 minutes, which wasn't ideal with a couple of hungry kids. Thankfully, we were seated within about 10 minutes. Our server, Patrick, was fantastic! He provided excellent customer service, took the time to explain the sushi rolls, helped us navigate the kids' menu, and was attentive throughout our meal. Patrick, thank you for helping make my mom's birthday dinner so memorable. Khasey was our chef, and the food was absolutely delicious. He made sure we had every sauce we asked for. The teppanyaki experience for the children was engaging and fun. To top it off, the staff brought out a cute birthday dessert and sang a birthday tune for my mom, which made the celebration even more special. The location is another huge plus. It's situated in a great area near Fresno State with plenty to do before or after dinner, including ice cream shops, boba spots, VR gaming, and movie theaters. Overall, we had a great experience and can't wait to come back!
