So the food was good, the experience was not the best. The noodles were cooked well and the broth to our soups was tasty. It was a bit salty, but we still enjoyed the didn't husband ordered the karaage don and wished he asked for something to drizzle over the chicken. They don't have kid size bowls so we had to order full size bowls for our daughters. They have about 30 frames up on the wall with pictures of their food. If I counted correctly 29 of them are of food but 15 were crossed off with masking tape as not available. They don't have a paper menu. They do have a QR code with the menu and you can order online or with the waitress. The restaurant is small. We were lucky to grab 1 of the last 2 tables. Our downfall was going late. We arrived at 8:10 and the place closes at 9:00. A lady arrived super quick to our table and told us they close at 9:00. Ok, we considered leaving or taking to go but stayed. I noticed two other couples arrived shortly after us. 1 took the bar by the window and the other took the last table. Our food arrived fairly quick and very hot. After we ordered I did notice a frame that stated that after 8:30 is to go only and last call for to-go is 8:45. At 8:52, a gentleman came up to our table and asked if we wanted to-go containers because they close at 9:00. They also went to the other tables where people were still eating. We ended up having to pack our soup and leave. So definitely try the place out, but don't go towards the end of the night. read more

I've heard tons about this place before coming. They exceeded my expectations. There was tons of flavor and the presentation was great. One thing I loved was how they immediately had chopsticks out beforehand(making the ramen experience better;) ) the staff is friendly. Nice cozy spot for some really well made ramen! I had the pleasure to try the Kurotaka Spicy Ramen and added the set meal (Small Stamina Don) for an additional $3 which is well worth it as the meal felt more complete and balanced. The spice level on this ramen has a bigger kick than I thought, so be weary one "inhaling" the broth too quickly as you'll find yourself coughing up a storm. I came in as a party of one which made it convenient for me to sit at their countertop and order immediately through the QR code provided. I didn't mind the lack of customer service but the staff that I did interact with were attentive and friendly. I'm honestly only sorry it took me so long to finally give this spot a try as my manager has been bugging me to try this place out for a couple months. If I had to rank this, if you like Ramen Hayashi, then you'll be in a treat to find that this place is a tier level above them when it comes to flavor. We came here for ramen on a Friday night. The restaurant has a cute interior inside and gives off jazz bar vibes. I believe this restaurant was a food truck in the bay area and recently opened this store front in Fresno. We ordered the chashu rice, spicy ramen, and 8 piece kara- age. The ramen and chashu rice both came out pretty quickly. The soup was flavorful, not super spicy, and the noodles were a perfect al dente. The pork wasn't the super fatty kind of pork so its perfect if your looking for a more lighter protein compared to the usual fatty chashu I have had. The kara age was huge!!! We ordered the 8 piece kara age thinking it was going to be the super small pieces we usually get at ramen restaurants, the kara age here seemed to be an entire chicken thigh. I ordered the spicy ramen and added extra meat and eggs (~$25). The broth was flavorful, but it wasn't spicy in my opinion and I think I could've asked for more if I had requested it. The meat was ok and the egg yolk wasn't running as I'd hoped. Extremely disappointing experience today. We are frequent customers who genuinely enjoy the ramen here and have never had a bad experience until today. My party of 5 came in and was initially seated at a 4-person table. I requested to move to the bigger 6 person table as it was empty in order to have more space, especially since we had a toddler who could hurt themself from the hot soup. We were told that it would be ok to sit at the bigger table. However, halfway through our dinner, an elderly gentleman approached our table and told us that this table is for a party of 6 or more and that we needed to leave as there was an incoming large party that would be needing the table. Several of us were still eating who ended up leaving without being able to finish the food. This was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. Needless to say, we will not be coming back here and neither will our 2 guests who we introduced to the restaurant for the first time. I do not recommend coming here. read more

First time for my Mom and I having lunch there and we were immediately whisked to the back hallway near the bathrooms to wait for a seat with one customer in front of us. We wait a couple minutes for a server and when no one comes we notice a QR code on the table for ordering so my Mom starts ordering through the code because we assume with no waiter coming that is just how this restaurant operates. 10/10 every time I've gone to Kurotaka. It's the best ramen spot in town and the spicy ramen is perfectly balanced (for being spicy) and flavorful. When I went, it was empty so service was quick. I like the layout and the stool seating, its perfect setting. Back to the food. I wish I had taken a picture to post but I already ate it because it is that delicious. Sometimes I wish the portion was bigger, but it's actually perfect. I can stop there for lunch and get full without getting stuffed before going back to work. The noodles taste fresh and the toppings are on point. I say it's the best ramen spot around because I've tried pretty much all the other ones (Ichiban, Ramen vs Pho, home-ya, Ramen Hayashi, etc). I've even eaten here when it used to be a different ramen place with the overweight cook/waiter, which was absolutely disgusting and rightfully shut down. The seating is a bit small but I haven't seen a wait there yet! The food though is really good. I tried the tsukemen and the cold dipping broth was salty but super flavorful. The noodles were also cooked really well where they still had that bouncy texture but weren't overcooked. I had a bit of my friend's spicy ramen and it tasted amazing (but actually spicy). The thick brown sauce type gravy (reminded me of a Fu Young type sauce) on one half of the bowl with white sticky rice on the other half.
