    Loaf Cakes, Cupcakes & Gifts.

It's been a while since I last had a cake from Icing on the Cake, especially now that we no longer live in CA. My hubby loves their carrot cake, and this time we picked up a banana cake for a bridal shower. Their cakes are so delicious--moist, flavorful, and not overly sweet. They offer a wonderful assortment of cakes, cupcakes, cookies, loaf cakes, cake slices, dessert bars, and pies. The bakery is charming and inviting, with yummy dessert display cases, recipe books, kitchenware, and unique gifts that make it a fun place to shop.

Icing on the Cake is great for people who enjoy classic American style cakes and cupcakes! So think of sweet, rich, and decadent icing. Their popular items - the banana and almond cupcakes sell out quickly, so the front desk recommended to call ahead. I tried their banana cake since it's one of the things they're best known for. It was fluffy, moist, buttery, and didn't have a weird artificial taste. This tasted more like banana bread with added cream cheese frosting, but still very good. Their cookies were also popular because the selection was almost gone. Perhaps I came on a Saturday early evening. My only issue were the cake slices were wrapped in plastic wrap. The frosting clinging onto the wrap made it messy and threw off the cake/frosting ratio. I hope they find a better way to package slices because wrapping baked goods with plastic wrap looks bit tacky. Overall, I like their desserts aren't overly fancy, but still have that cute touch. They have that fresh, homemade quality, and it's nice to know this is a Los Gatos specialty!

I wanted a cake for my birthday and this is the only place I wanted to get a cake from. Thankfully they still had a small 6inch banana cake..They were also able to write happy birthday on it for me. For being a busy place, they all worked so fast to help everyone. The staff was very kind to my toddler as well. She was very excited to be in new bakery. She was fascinated by all the decorations and items for sale. If you want interesting gifts for someone this is your one stop shop. As for the cake, it was hit at my birthday dinner.

Vegan birthday cake $50 (believe me, you won't be able to tell it's even vegan. It's that good.)

Another delicious Happy Birthday cake in Vegan! My entire family loves Icing on the Cake. I only wish it was open on my days off for my kids' birthdays.

I stopped by this bakery recently and had such a nice experience. The bakery has a warm and cozy atmosphere and everything in the display looked fresh. The pastry I ordered was delicious with just the right amount of sweetness. The staff were welcoming, patient, and happy to answer my questions. I'll definitely be coming back the next time I'm craving something sweet.

As soon as you walk in, you'll be hit with the incredible scents of freshly baked goods. You'll see a sea of greeting cards and cute knick knacks available for purchase. Everything in the store is very cutesy and colorful. If you look to the right you will see a ticketing system similar to those in a deli. Its not clear if you still need to wait in line if you've preordered and prepaid for a cake but I did anyway. Service was ok. I asked someone if I needed to wait in line if I had already purchased a cake over the phone. The worker said she didn't know the answer. I also asked that same worker for help because the numbering system was stuck and I wasn't able to pull a number. The worker had the same response of not knowing how to fix the number dispenser. When I came to pick up my cake on a busy Sunday morning, I was pretty disappointed by the result. None of the directions I asked for were correct but I guess all that really matters is the taste. But more on that later. I requested for " a smiski bit older" in small green colored font at the lower bottom half of the cake with no piped frosting decor, just simple style. They wrote down about half of what I asked for on their invoice receipt so the cake was not at all what I was expecting. Instead they wrote the letters in big font across the middle of the cake so my plan to put smiski figurines on top of the cake was ruined. Banana cake with cream cheese frosting- The banana cake was more of the crumbly side- similar to a loaf or banana bread. I do wish it was more moist and spongy like in consistency like a normal cake. The frosting was sweet, more sugar forward than cream cheese. The cake held up well even after 3 days without getting too dry. We enjoyed the cake per the instructions of letting it get to room temperature for one hour. The banana cake itself was good- not mind blowing but a decent option when Asian flavor cakes get a bit repetitive. I wouldn't expect too much from the custom designs here.

Banana cake was sadly dry and crumbled into many pieces when cut.

IOC reached out and apologized for the cake quality. However, they noted cake consistency can change from time to time as the banana composition changes from shipment to shipment. The manager said she would look into QC and thanked me for bringing this to their attention. They offered bakery credits but that wasn't necessary or accepted. I just wanted them to know and hopefully address my valid concern. Bumping up my review to 4 stars, I appreciate the follow-up nothing is perfect. I'll continue to frequent this spot. Some of the best sweet treats in the South Bay.

12/12/25 This is one of the better bakeries out there. We've only had the pleasure of having the banana cake and it's really really good. I would say try to serve it room temp and not right out of the fridge. The frosting is a little sweet but paired with a good hot cup of coffee, it's perfect! The banana cake is moist and just the right sweetness. We like a simple cake although they offer you different decor options.

For years, I've gotten to enjoy the delicious Icing on the Cake banana cake at birthdays, baby showers and gatherings thanks to my South Bay gal pals. But, I finally got to have the full in store experience and WOW was it baked good heaven! The banana cake is just such a winner, but I didn't realize how many delicious goodies they have here! We were heading up to a friend's house and wanted to be able to bring a bunch of treats to share. We got a few different cupcakes, some banana cake (of course) and the most delicious chocolate espresso cookie! They can do no wrong. Everything was so delicious and honestly, the hardest part was just having to make a decision about what to buy. Besides their baked goods, they also have a ton of cute little items to buy in the store that make getting a gift and treat easy to do at the same time!

My Mom showing her excitement about cake. Happy Birthday Mom! More cake please.

Probably 5 stars for taste and minus 1 star for the gruff person who had the least cake attitude for a bakery. I ordered over the phone with use. The almond cake purchased instead of the carrot cake which had sold out. Home run. Lots of wonderful frosting making the cake a pillow for each bite. Not a bad bite - neither too sweet nor cake dryness calling for more frosting.

We had to see if they had any, and luckily there was exactly one left! We bought it to have for breakfast the next morning. I'll admit, I was a little nervous because it was packaged in a bag and I wasn't sure how well it would hold up overnight. But the next morning, we basically fought over who was going to get the biggest piece. It was still flaky and delicious, and there was chocolate in every bite. The chocolate was in strips through the middle rather than spread throughout the entire pastry, but there was still enough that we never had a bite without chocolate. It ended up being such a sweet way to start our last day in town. They had so many other pastries and desserts that looked absolutely amazing, but we had just eaten lunch and knew we were heading back out for the day, so we didn't want to risk buying something that might melt in the car. The space has a modern yet warm feel with beautiful natural wood finishes, fresh loaves of sourdough lining the shelves, pastries displayed in the case, and a mix of large communal wood tables, regular seating, and high-top tables. It's the kind of café that makes you want to slow down and stay awhile. The staff was friendly and helped us choose both a pastry and our toast. They were also happy to customize our order--we asked for the levain sourdough toast with butter instead of the usual olive oil. That toast was absolutely divine. The sourdough had the perfect balance: chewy without being too sour, with a crust that was crisp but not so hard that it fought back. Easily the best sourdough toast I've had in the Bay Area. If you come here, this is the one thing you have to order. The only disappointment was the butter. They serve French butter, but for an extra $2, the portion was tiny and honestly nothing special. I've had better butter from Whole Foods. It didn't take away from how incredible the bread was, but it wasn't worth the upcharge. Their Kouign-amann is also one of the best I've ever had. Instead of the typical flat, flaky style, theirs is taller with countless buttery layers that create an amazing texture. The cappuccino was another highlight. It had subtle notes of orange peel, whiskey, and cardamom, making it unique. The latte art was beautiful too. Overall, Manresa Bread is one of those cafés that makes you want to sit down with a laptop or a book and spend a few hours there. The only downside is there are no power outlets, so come with a full battery if you're planning to work. Must orders: Levain sourdough toast with butter and the Kouign-amann. Luckily we came during Saratoga classic car Sunday and i think it deters people since they can't park on the street so luckily less people than normal. Learned that their bakery items are from Sakura bakery which i really like! I got the hojicha latte no sugar, avocado toast, and pistachio rose gluten free cake. The hojicha latte is the best ive tried so far! So good even without sugar, smooth but still a deep toasted taste and not grainy. The pistachio rose cake was nice and rosey and generous. Really liked the avocado toast with a nice balsamic sauce. Overall def recommend and want to come back to try more of their drinks and bakery items!!

I ordered the Iced Aztec Mocha and it was alright, nothing special, but provided the coffee fix I needed. Overall, this is a decent spot if you're looking for a local coffee shop in the area. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but if I find myself in Saratoga area, I'll consider them as a possible option.
