    Silicon Valley Classic Cheesecake
    Amanda M.

I came here twice within a weeks time, got some of the poppers, bambinos and the 9" cheesecake. I was able to meet Charlie and Chuck (Charlie's son), very friendly and wonderful customer service. The poppers are bite size and they have a variety of flavors, definitely recommend getting the 12 pack to try the various flavors they have. I really enjoyed their key lime and the silicon valley classic flavors. The bambinos are personal size, perfect for one or two people. The whole cheesecakes are great size for a crowd. They have options of a whole cheesecake or sliced. I definitely recommend the sliced cheesecake more since it's easier to serve than the whole one, the whole one can be a little bit more difficult to slice nicely. The cheesecake is creamy but not too sweet. It can be a bit heavy if you eat an entire slice, but the poppers are the perfect size for a sweet treat. The cheesecakes are really good quality. I shared some with coworkers and friends who loved the cheesecake. I'll definitely be back!

    Key Lime Cheesecake

I came here Saturday morning to pick up a cheesecake I preordered for my older sister's birthday. When I arrived (~10am), the parking lot and the shop was empty but Charlie greeted my sisters, my husband, and I warmly and asked what we were there for. I let him know I was here to pick up an order I had placed and he inquired if it was for a special occasion. I told him it was my sister's birthday and he asked if it was one of the sisters who had accompanied me and I said it was a surprise for a sister at home. He then retrieved a key lime cheesecake and checked the box. When he found that it wasn't quite done being cut, he excused himself and told us he'd get one that was fully cut. He came back shortly with a key lime cheesecake that was cut the whole way through and got out a keyring of "Happy Birthday" decorations to put on the cake to pick from and gave us advice on how to place it. There was a sign outside the store letting people know that they could get a free sample. Before we left, Charlie offered each of us a sample and showed us all the different flavors: Silicon Valley classic, chocolate, strawberry, cappuccino (his second favorite), raspberry, and another flavor I can't quite remember. I got a Silicon Valley classic, which had such a creamy, thick texture akin to ice cream. My husband actually doesn't like cheesecake at all, but he said the popper completely changed his mind about cheesecake entirely because he couldn't taste the cheese one bit. My sister loved the key lime cheesecake. Charlie's Cheesecake is one of her favorite cheesecake places, although she hasn't had it in a while so I'm glad I could make it out and get a cake for her this year. The key lime flavor has such a nice tart flavor that pairs so well with the creamy cheesecake texture and the subtly sweet shortbread crust is definitely one of my favorite parts about the cheesecakes at Charlie's. The service is impeccable and it's so wonderful to purchase from a store where the owner clearly loves his work.

My company brought Charlie's cheesecakes in as catering for a birthday celebration. i generally like cheesecakes, and this was no exception. The crust was good, but you don't get much of it. i tried couple of the flavors, and they're all pretty decent, but none of them really stood out. i don't know how much they cost but if you put costs aside, they were good. Nothing wind blowing but a good dessert.

    Charlie's Poppers ($52.95 for 36)

My sister and I stopped by right before dinner to pick up some desserts. I've had this place bookmarked for a while and we decided to go with the 36 count poppers ($52.95). They come pre-packed from the fridge in 3 packs of 12 poppers. It's pricey, but worth it and a great small business to support. Charlie was so incredibly friendly and when I told him it was our first visit, he told us verbatim that we "cannot buy without trying them first." Even though we had our mind already set on the 36 count poppers, he offered us a popper of our choice. I tried the key lime popper and loved it. There is plenty of parking as it's located in a strip center/retail plaza.

Quite far off from where I live - but I was in the area on a Saturday afternoon visiting a restaurant and we were craving some type of dessert, and I am SO glad we found Charlie and his cheesecake poppers! Cute little store offering free samples, Charlie was so friendly and helpful - he told us a bit about the history of his store, detailed each of the flavors, and told us about the most popular ones! We had a sample each straight out of the fridge at the store! Rich, creamy, and not too sweet! I took home a three pack and my friend took a 6 pack! My favorite is always the strawberry cheesecake anywhere, and the same also applies here. I'm sure I'm gonna be back here whenever I am somewhat close to the area. I might drive by just to grab more cheesecake poppers!

    6 pack cheesecake poppers!

What a great local delight to find! We're not normally in the southern part of San Jose, but my sweet tooth kicked in and I was craving some kind of dessert. A quick Yelp search showed me Charlie's and I was intrigued by the cheesecake poppers, so I went to check it out. We were fortunate to be helped out be Charlie's son, who gave us the rundown of the sizes and flavors they provide. I told him it was my first time here, and he graciously offered me a free sample of one of their Cheesecake Poppers. I had to go with the classic vanilla, and even thought it just came right out of the freezer, it was so creamy and rich. He mentioned that 95% of folks like it directly out of the freezer while 5% like to wait for it to warm up (I'm too impatient to wait to warm up because it's that good, so into my mouth from the freezer it goes!) We got a 6 pack of Cheesecake Poppers and got the remaining 6 flavors (normally there's 7 flavors available; 8 when it's Fall with their seasonal pumpkin flavor). We had to resist eating them on the way home because they are sooooooo good. We got a menu of all the different flavors they have in their regular size, and there's so many yummy flavors to choose from (even a few adult alcoholic flavors, surprisingly!). I know I want to be healthier, but cheesecake in moderation won't hurt, right? :)

You could buy tins of Marukyu Koyamaen matcha if you want to make lattes at home! Came here twice with my boo because their drinks slap! The Hojicha latte is not too sweet and very roasted, nutty, and smooth. The matcha crème brûlée swirl drank seemed to be their popular drink because a lot of those were being whipped up when we were waiting for our order. It looks aesthetically pleasing, but damn she thicck. It's like a milkshake and you need a big boba straw to get the liquid through. It was good but my boo said it was sorta a challenge to drink. A spoon is needed to thoroughly mix things together. The 2nd time around we ordered the matcha latte and the Hojicha cheese mousse. The Hojicha was a little stronger in flavor since there was no milk added to it. The cheese mousse was thick. I started drinking it through the sip top but eventually went in with a straw to mix it up. The hint of saltiness from the foam paired pretty well with the tea. My guy got the matcha latte with oat milk and the oat flavor is pretty overpowering. You'd taste the oat and then the matcha. It was okay but my boo finished it with no complaints. The shop is small but there's a long bench and a few tables to sip and chill. You mainly order from the kiosk, but when a long line forms, a human assists with ordering. The drink competition is strong in the plaza that they're in. There's at least 3 other boba shops in the same strip they're in and 2 more across the way. But Izumi stayed pretty busy the times we were there. Parking is kinda limited though because they're in a busy plaza. The last time we came we parked across at Target nearby and walked over. Overall, great Hojicha and matcha. The prices are decent for the area. They'll charge you if you want a cup of ice btw. Service is quick. I'd definitely come here again or to any of their other locations. When it comes to matcha they know what's up!
